Later that night after everyone went home, Bulma was back working in the lab. It was nearly midnight, and even though she was struggling to keep her eyes open she knew she had to keep working. The sooner she got it fixed the sooner she and Vegeta could go back. That is if Vegeta ever decided to come back.

Her eyes started to droop, and sleep began to take over. Right before her forehead touched the surface, she heard a sound that startled her. She sat up and spun around to see what it was, and Vegeta stood in the corner of the room leaning against a wall. "Not sleeping on the job, are you?" He rudely asked her.

She furrowed her eyebrows, "Where have you been?"

"Doesn't matter."

"You've been gone for days!"

"So?!"

"SO?! I'm the only one doing any work around here! I thought you wanted to get back! Instead you're just flying around and doing whatever you want while I'm stuck down here day and night-"

Vegeta pulled something out of his pocket and tossed it at her. She dropped it because she was caught off guard, but when she picked it up she realized it was an important piece for the Time Machine. "Where did you get this?" She asked.

He walked towards her with his arms still crossed over his chest, and a menacing expression. "You're not the only one. Do you know how difficult it was for me to get that?!" He asked, but before she could respond he continued. "And you were the one who told me to go! So I don't want to hear anymore about how you are the only one working on this damn thing. I want to get back more than you do!"

This act of kindness caught Bulma completely off guard. It wasn't like Vegeta to help out anyone, as all he thought about was himself. Now she had questions. She eyed him suspiciously and then asked out loud, "Wait a minute, you're the other Vegeta, aren't you?"

He seemed confused, "What?"

"Oh I get it! The real Vegeta must've told you what was going on, and you decided to help!"

"Damn it, woman!" He fumed, "This is not some game!"

"Well the Vegeta I know would never go out of his way to help anyone!"

"I'M ONLY DOING THIS SO WE CAN GET OUT OF HERE!" He yelled. "Without my help we would be stuck here until your next birthday!"

"HA! See?! The Vegeta I know would NEVER know when my birthday was!"

He felt like pulling his hair out. "I AM THE VEGETA YOU KNOW! I AM THE SAIYAN PRINCE, THE GREATEST WARRIOR IN THE UNIVERSE, THE-"

She sighed, "Yeah, yeah, it's you alright."

"Wha-"

"I believe you now." She sat back down and tried to resume where she left off. But there was still one burning question on her mind. "How did you know today is my birthday?"

"I-because I just heard it." For a split second, Bulma swore she saw Vegeta's cheeks change color. E turned around too fast, but she knew what she saw. "That hardly matters anyway."

She winked. "Don't worry Vegeta, I like you too."

He spun back around quickly, and he looked crazy mad. "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"

"Nothing!"

He stomped over to her and stood behind her with his hands on his hips. "Say it again! You said something!"

She giggled again, "I just said I like you too!"

His jaw dropped. "Where did you...where did you get that PREPOSTEROUS idea that I like you in ANY away?!"

"Well, because you remembered my birthday!" She beamed, "And you went out looking for this for me!"

"For you?! You mean for US!"

She waved him off, "Whatever you say, Vegeta!"

He couldn't believe what he was hearing. She thinks I like her? Where would she get that idea? Just because I retrieved an item she was needing that doesn't mean anything! I harbor no feelings for anyone, especially not earthling women!

Vegeta quietly backed away into a corner and observed Bulma as she worked.

Well...she certainly isn't like other women here. He thought to himself. She seems to have a brain. She isn't physically strong, but I suppose mentally she's above average.

"Stop staring at me like that!" She suddenly yelled at him.

"Like what? I can stare at you however I like, woman!"

"Like you're trying to read my mind or something!"

He scoffed. "Right, like I'm so interested in knowing what's going on inside your puny human brain!"

Bulma stomped over to him and scowled, "My brain is NOT puny! I happen to be very smart, and you know it! In fact, I'd say I'm even smarter than you are!"

"HA! You really think so, do you?" Vegeta couldn't help but laugh. Nobody was smarter, or more confident, than him.

"I know so. You're just too selfish to see that because all you do is think about YOURSELF!" Vegeta opened his mouth, but she shut him down instantly. "And I'm sick and tired of you constantly degrading my intelligence AND my inventions! I never asked for your opinion, not ONCE! So what gives you the right to stand there and tell me that I'm puny and unimportant and incapable of doing anything when you don't even KNOW me?!"

Vegeta stood there and was slightly stunned. How dare she speak to me that way?! I am a SAIYAN Prince, and she's just some human!

But not just some human. She was probably the only person to talk to Vegeta like that and live. If it were anyone else, he would've blasted them into oblivion. Yet she was still standing there, fuming with anger and exuding beauty, self worth, and confidence. He was almost ashamed for degrading her all those times.

"Hey Bulma! You busy down there?!" They heard Goku call from above, but they were too focused on each other to notice or care. Vegeta raised his arm and blasted the other side of the room without breaking eye contact.

Goku nervously laughed, "OKAY I'LL COME BACK ANOTHER TIME!"
