"I would give anything to go on one last adventure with you all. To play this game again..."

Momonga waited for an error message or some message about the server being offline or even just a black void in front of him signaling that YGGDRASIL had shut down. Hence why he closed his eyes and waited to lift up his device and be met with the small hovel he called home. Yet instead he heard a voice.

"Lord Herohero, is something wrong?"

Momonga could see he was still inside of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, perhaps still inside of YGGDRASIL, "eh? Was there a delay in shutting the game down?" He wondered yet slowly he came to realize that Herohero was talking with the NPCs, and that voice he heard before, it was Albedo.

"Holy- Did she just speak?!" Momonga yelled and yet it was like he was completely ignored. How could they not hear his yelling?

"Lord Momonga? You're scaring me and not in a good way." Albedo finally addressed him, good, now he could yell some more!

"I am sorry if my freak out scared you back there, I just need a moment to Process, Herohero can you-"

"This isn't funny anymore Momonga, what the hell are you-"

"Stop!"

Momonga witnessed as Albedo rather unexpectedly stopped Herohero from even approaching Momonga. On top of them acting like they did not hear him!

"If you want to talk about something not being funny how about you listen to me-"

Momonga witnessed more chatter either referring to him or about their new situation.

"They can't hear you."

A new voice scared Momonga and caused him to tumble forward, right to Albedo, yet he phased through her.

"W-what the hell-" Momonga's felt something suppress both his anger and confusion. Like he was forced to instantly calm down though even that failed to describe how he felt or rather, just did not feel any emotion one second later.

It happened again when Momonga saw it, his avatar, unlike him Herohero and all the NPCs were reacting to it not him. He was not moving or anything

"What is happening?"

"Sorry about scaring you back there, but it was the only amusing thing I've seen in a while...I think." A vague humanoid figure stood, or rather, floated by Momonga.

"Who are you? Are you an NPC?" Momonga was certain he knew of all NPC's within Nazarick, so how was an unknown figure before him?

'No, something feels familiar about the voice, I just can't place it.' Momonga thought to himself.

"I...don't know. A long time ago, I just found myself in this room. I could not move and really till just now, I did not speak and barely even thought much. Just existed. Now I find someone else able to see me and stuck in a similar position. Only we both can move now. Neat."

The voice sounded far too casual given their "Position" was no better than ghosts!

"wait, A-are we- now, I can't be dead! I still have my avatar's look as well!" Momonga rushed up to Herohero, he tried to grab the Elder Ooze yet phased right through him. He tried activating spells yet nothing came out, he could open up his menus but all those with his attacks, skills, and spells were all blank.

"Hey, calm down, freaking out and trying to destroy stuff is not going to help anything." the vague figure said while it followed Momomga around the throne room.

"Oh as if I have a choice!" Momonga pulled heavily on his cloak, " All he could now was watch in pain as the NPCs came in one by one and were saddened by the state of their leader, the one player who never left, now unable to speak to them.

Momonga was following Herohero as he made his way through the Tomb with Cixous taking notes throughout his conversations with the NPCs.

The overlord had to admit he rather liked how each one went, he particularly enjoyed how Herohero made Aura and Mare happy even if it overwhelmed them and made them cry.

He also worried and slightly died for real inside as Shalltear went into very intimate detail about her "heated feelings" and other fun and overt topics, "She really is Pero's creation..." It made Momonga feel nostalgic in a way so he let it go, at least Shalltear seemed to have passion, all the NPCs did.

Momonga was worried at first that too much pressure would be put on Herohero after Dimurge basically proclaimed him as temporary leader till they could save the guild leader. But he seemed to be doing a decent job so far.

He then hit a roadblock, quite literally, as when Momonga tried to follow Herohero, Demiurge, and Solution Epsilon outside he was stopped, and no matter what he did it was like an invisible wall kept him from leaving the tomb.

"Hmm, seems we are stuck." The vague figure tried to do the same.

"Well shit, I can see actual grass outside and yet I can't even move past the entrance!" Momonga yelled in frustration but his dampener kicked in again.

With not much choice he returned to the throne room, where he saw Albedo watching his unmoving body. He heard her speak to him and apologize for being so worthless and unable to help him. Momonga wanted to tell her she was not worthless and that it was not her fault, and yet he could not, she would not hear him no matter what he said or how he said it.

Shortly afterward, he also witnessed and heard her ogling him and saying sentences that made him relive that moment with Shalltear. But he could allow it. He would continue to allow it, if something like that could make any of the NPC's feel better, he was fine with it.

Later Momonga had witnessed Herohero writing letters in his room, Momonga was able to read them before Herohero folded them up, but sadly he could not respond. He could not even write back, it seemed only the walls and floors of Nazarick were the one things he could not phase through, maybe because then he could leave.

Yet he also stayed until after Solution tried to help Herohero to sleep, "Come we should go." Momonga felt this was a personal moment for the two.

The vague figure however tried to stay, "Yeah, yeah, see you in a-" The figure was grabbed by Momonga and pulled out of the room, luckily the two could also interact with each other without phasing through, Momonga pulled the figure away many time when he felt they should not see NPC's at certain moments.

Sure he could have justified staying each time given how he could not leave the tomb and none of them knew he was there, but still, he had to show some respect. He was responsible for them for a long time after all.

Later when the Treant's Attacked Momonga was not able to see much and was originally worried due to the sheer number of them. But After Cocytus easily sliced up the initial wave Momonga felt a little more at ease. Though as the attack raged on it had moved beyond what Momonga could see from the entrance and he could only hear the noise of battle. But it was obvious no Treants would get past Cocytus's steady defense and Demiruge's spells.

But his elation at the NPC's ability to work together and the subsequent defeat of Zy'tl Q'ue was short-lived. Shortly afterward, Albedo came back and began her rebellion.

Momonga felt terrible, worthless, and frustrated all at the same time, even if his emotion dampener kicked in multiple times. He could not stop Albedo from trying to stop the search for other members of Ainz Ooal Gown, he could not stop the argument that followed or even reasoned between Herohero and Albedo like he often did with members of his guild to stop inner conflicts.

He could only watch as Albedo was forced to temporarily leave her position with Shalltear taking her place and both the vampire and Demiurge taking over the Overseer's duties until she returned from her mission.

He could do nothing as Herohero felt guilty after being pushed to his limit. It was pointless, he was just a forced observer.

"Sorry, you had to see that." The vague figure said as they patted Momonga on the back a few times.

"I...Am sure it will work out." Momonga was not sure what he would have done in Herohero's place. But from the look of it, he was not likely to have been so rudely spoken to by Albedo. He had no idea what was going on with the NPC, but he hoped everything would be fine.

Later though a fear Momonga had never even thought about before happened, as after Albedo returned she attacked the other NPCs. He yelled and begged for it to spot, yet it did not. Shalltear was better in a one-on-one, and seemed like she would kill Albedo eventually, but then Herohero was informed and the NPC's were ordered out of the throne room.

When it was just Albedo in there, he swore, he heard her mumble about how she would burn all flags except her Beloved's later. But perhaps he was just hearing things.

Then came The Herohero and Albedo fight. Again there was nothing he could do. He could not root for either of them because Herohero was his friend but Albedo was basically the child of Tabula so no matter what he would lose someone important to him.

"Albedo...this can't be. I have failed to make sure you knew I held no hatred for them even after they left." Momonga could understand Albedo's feelings as she proclaimed her hatred of the other supreme beings to Herohero and to the NPCs that watched from a safe location.

Albedo seemed mad that it was Herohero here instead of him, yet Momonga could say nothing, 'How would she have acted if it was just me? How would she have acted if it was both of us...or all of us.' what if's that Momonga could only dream about now?

Momonga thought at that moment that Herohero seemed to have given up and maybe even agreed with Albedo. But what he said after Albedo was prepared to attack again changed the mood and stakes of the battle entirely.

Herohero promised he would never leave them again, nay, he could not bring himself to ever again. He pointed out that Momonga was not gone, which he was not. And finally, he pointed out something even Momonga had not thought of till this moment.

How was it that Albedo had a world item without Momonga knowing?

It was soon pointed out that it was likely Tabula came back even if just for a moment to give it her.

Albedo started to cry and a realization dawned on her, Momonga could have cried at that moment if he was capable of it.

"I believe despite having left, likely without any intention to return, You're wrong to say we forgot about Momonga and what we built here, I think you're wrong to say we forgot about you, our creations."

"Herohero..." Momonga sat down next to the throne and placed his hands over his face, "Thank you for that."

the battle continued but this time with a new meaning and ending with Herohero's victory and the ending of Albedo's revolt. And finally with her letting her hatred of the supreme beings go.

Later though a new revelation came following the resurrection of Albedo. One that after all this time, neither side expected.

"Momonga is that you?!"

Every NPC heard Herohero's shout in the throne room, all of which were shocked to hear such a thing.

Yet, none of them saw anything other than the still unmoving Momonga, but they did notice Herohero staring at the space right next to the throne on its right side.

"I can't believe you are here, wait am I seeing things?" Herohero continued to talk, as he saw a transparent Momonga and an unidentifiable second figure near him.

Momonga rapidly waved both his bony hands, "N-no, at least I hope not. To be honest I had lost hope that anyone could hear me besides the specter that's been with me this whole time."

The other transparent figure grumbled, "You know just because I can't remember anything, doesn't mean you can't at least refer to me as a friend instead of the specter. I've been your only conversation this entire time."

Momonga bowed his head at the unidentifiable figure, "Right sorry my friend."

Herohero continued to talk while the NPCs watched him converse with the air and became a little concerned.

"So you've been here this whole time? you just could not talk to us?" Herohero was still in shock, this entire time Momonga was awake in a way, he just was unable to be heard.

Momonga looked at his unmoving avatar, "I guess, not for lack of trying. In addition, I could not leave the tomb. But I could freely move around it."

Herohero chuckled, "Wow, I hope you did not walk in on anything you weren't supposed to see." Herohero assumed the NPCs would not do anything that could scare Momonga. He was wrong as Momonga tried not to remember many things he saw during his time as an unseen observer.

"Y-yeah." Momonga in particular tried not to remember watching Albedo and Shalltear poke, prod, and sitting on his unmoving body as well. Sure they were not actually harming him but how they acted and some of the stuff he heard made him feel embarrassed, or would have if not for his emotional dampener.

"Lord Herohero?" Herohero heard Albedo speak and then turned to see the confused and concerned faces of the NPCs present.

"What?"

"Who are you talking to?"

"Momonga! Isn't this great he is..is...you all can't see him can you?" Herohero slowly calmed down when it became clear only he could see and hear Momonga at the moment.

"Of. Course. We. see. Him. in. all. His. Glory. Even. If. He. remains. Still."

Herohero of course did not mean Momonga's unmoving body. But the transparent Momonga is right by him.

"Hmm..." Herohero wondered why he could when the vague specter said, "It was not until you were holding that staff that you could see us. The only other difference from before is that you resurrected an NPC."

Herohero slightly moved the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown toward Albedo, "I wish to test if perhaps it is merely touching the staff that works, please hold it for a moment.

Albedo shook her head, "N-no I could never do that, that belongs to Momonga and you."

Herohero decided to try it another way, "What if you hold on to me, could that work?" one of his Ooze limbs went out for Albedo to hold. Her face went pink and hesitantly she went to hold it.

Near the other NPC's Solution was holding back from appearing jealous, she could handle it before after Albedo was resurrected, but seeing this was making the slime made a tinge upset that Albedo was being asked to hold hands with Herohero after she tried to kill him.

Albedo held onto Herohero and at the Elder Black Ooze's gesturing looked at where transparent Momonga and the vague figure were. She held her hand over her mouth and fell to her knees, "L-Lord Momonga, i-is that really you?"

When Herohero pulled his appendages away from Albedo she continued to stare at Momonga, she could still see him, perfect Herohero. It took a few minutes, especially since unbeknownst to Herohero the other Pleiades were unwilling to add to their sister's jealousy, but eventually, all could see Momomga.

Each NPC was beside themselves, Momonga was indeed among them even if he could not do much else than speak to them.

Momonga though was at a loss of words as each NPC reacted in their own way but each in a way of revering him which made him feel awkward, except for Pandora's actor's reaction, which was done almost exclusively in German and made Momonga want to smash his own head into the wall from embarrassment. But at least now they all could see him. Finally.

Herohero slides up to Momonga, "I want to know how this happened to you, but more than anything I am happy to see you, my friend. Even if it is in this way."

Momonga chuckled, "Same to you, I have a lot I want to say to you and everyone here, But mostly I am thankful you took on my responsibility Herohero."

Herohero slimy body bounced in place for a moment, "It was nothing, I just wish I could have done a better job. We have not even found a solution to how to remove the effect on your body that is keeping you well...like this."

Momonga held up one of his hands, "That is regretful, but that does not mean you will not. It just means I am stuck like this a little longer, so long as I can actually be seen and heard that is enough for me."

"By the way, who is this." Herohero referred to the vague specter that had appeared alongside Momonga.

"You can just address me directly though unfortunately even though I have no recollection of who I am, I hardly remember anything besides being in this room for a while." The figure sat flat against the floor and made a groaning noise, "Guess I really am just some random ghost or some shit."

Herohero looked at Momonga who shrugged since he could not exactly disprove that sentence, so since he was the only one who could physically touch the specter Momonga patted them on the back.

Something else crossed Herohero's mind, "Hey Momonga, I cannot open any of my menu's except the master source, yet even that is limited, what about you?"

Momonga thought it was an odd question but he lifted his hand and something popped up in front of him, "Well kind of, but the log-out option is gone and all my spells and skills are missing. It is possible that even with those I still would be unable to interact with the physical world."

"But is that it? What about your stat window? Your inventory? Maybe even your hp?" Herohero fired off questions because if Momonga had access to his menu's, maybe just maybe, there was a clue they could use. Plus there was one more thing boiling up inside of him.

"Well. Let me check..." Momonga had not thought to check those parts of the menu or character screens because he was so busy worrying about everything going on that it never crossed his mind. That and the crushing possibility he was actually just dead, luckily for now that was not what was happening.

"Wait. I see something odd." Momonga looked at something in front of him, as did the specter looking over his shoulder, "I can't exactly tell what this is since I have never seen this in YGGDRASIL. but there is something next to my stats. Wild defect separation."

Demiurge adjusted his glasses, "If it is something one of the supreme beings has never heard about then it must mean outside forces are indeed at play."

Albedo who had managed to steady herself after being overwhelmed with emotion earlier agreed, "Yes, mostly likely something from this world. But we still would have no idea what that is."

Herohero moved back and forth while speaking, "Yes, but we could find out. It is at least a clue. But where would we even begin to look into this? I guess With Sebas and Narberal in the capital of the Re-Estize kingdom I could ask them to look into it."

"Lord Herohero, you did make a connection with the head warrior of the kingdom did you not?" Solution pointed out.

"That is right! Gazef! Maybe I could use him to get more information."

The vague specter, in a very bored tone, said after that, "And what if this 'Kingdom' lacks any knowledge of what you seek?"

Albedo grinned wickedly as she remembered that encounter she had right before her regretful idea of killing Herohero came to her mind, in fact there was one item they used to try and mind control her that gave her the idea, "I apologize for forgetting Lord Herohero, and Lord Momonga. But I believe I have come across a group, one who withstood one of my attacks, and another who I am sure if I did not have the world item that Lord Tabula had graciously given me, I would have come under their control."

"Albedo are you saying what I think you are?"

Albedo nodded, "I believe it was a world item."

Albedo took out Ginnungagap, "My creator saved me without even knowing it." Albedo suddenly looked downtrodden, "And look what I did with that."

Herohero moved up to Albedo, "It is in the past, trust me."

Albedo felt both grateful and saddened by that comment, she felt like she at least deserved some kind of punishment but for now, they had the Momonga incident to deal with so she could maybe bring it up later.

"Unfortunately I was not able to catch where they were from. However, one of them did mention something interesting while they thought I was unable to move and before they retreated. That they 'won't be wiped out like the sunlight scripture.'"

Herohero remembered that name from that day at Carne village, the same day as when he met Gazef, that day was really bringing this all together, "Demiruge, did any of those we captured that day survive their interrogations?"

Demiruge wickedly grinned, "I will happily check, though even if they did not there are other ways we can get the information we need from them."

Momonga and Herohero thought that they did not want to know what happened to those men at that moment.

"Perfect, but we should also look into other places just to be safe. But before that, there is something we must do."

"Eh? What do you mean?" Momonga was confused but then Herohero very aggressively pointed to him.

"You still have access to your menus, at least somewhat more than I can. That means whatever caused this also caused you to still somewhat function on a game field. In other words, it is possible you for us to...well... 'glitch' you here physically."

Herohero chuckled as his coder mind went off, "Maybe it won't work but we have to try. Granted the method I am thinking of will still make you weaker, BUT if it works at least you'll be able to leave the tomb!"

Herohero also looked at the vague specter, "You as well if you can bring up menus!"

The specter backed away a little off put by Herohero's sudden excitement, "I-I tried that, did not work, but if it is possible I would like to take it as well."

Momonga cleared his throat, he forced since he did not actually have to clear a throat that did not exist, "What are you talking about Herohero?"

Herohero pointed the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, "We take advantage of the mercenary summoning with gold, and then some extra steps, and you have a body. A weaker body, but a temporary one until we can fix your actual body!"

"W-what if this kills me?"

"Don't be silly, you're undead! both like this and in your actual body, so either way you won't lose anything by trying!"

Momonga thought to himself, 'I think this is scaring me more than Demiurge's smile before.'

"Pandora! bring me more gold! If this works your creator can stand amongst us and much more."

Pandora's actor salute, "Ja Mein Herr, right away!"

Momonga stood confused, "I am either going to regret this or enjoy the outcome, Either way, I am terrified."

A/N: I am unsure if I will have Herohero's plan work or not, just something I wanted to throw in as a way to show they tried. If it works Momonga will be joining them outside the tomb albeit weaker, if it does not he will just remain as a somewhat guided figure for Herohero and the NPCs but be unable to leave the tomb. I will leave that up to you the readers, let me know what you would be interested to see going forward in this story. Till next time, I slither into my hidey hole.
