Fuyumi Ootori ran as fast as she could. She got an emergency call during her tennis club and had to excuse herself. She went past the halls of the high school building until she made her way through the French gardens in campus. Passing through the grade school branch of Ouran Academy until she got to her intended destination.

Before going inside Ouran Academy Preschool, she took a few moments to catch her breath and fix herself. She straightened her yellow dress. Still getting accustomed to the high school uniform as a first-year student. She sneaked a glance from the window near the entrance. She saw Kyoa with his two friends. Kyoya seated in the corner quietly with Kanan-chan beside him. Kuze-kun was on the other side of the room throwing a tantrum.

Kyoya has always been a well-behaved child so being called by the teacher for a small squabble was alarming.

Fuyumi sighed. At sixteen years old, she didn't think she'd have to take on such a responsibility.

Maybe it was because of all the changes their family had to go through. With their mother's recent death, everyone was adjusting. She was saddled with the responsibility of taking care of her brothers. Akito was also having a rebellious phase as a preteen and refused to leave his room. Yuuichi would stay in the piano room and spend his nights there studying for college entrance exams.

However, it was her father who took the brunt of it all. He couldn't even stay at home for more than a few hours. Going home just to eat or get a change of clothes.

The house used to always have the sound of someone playing the piano, but lately it's been too quiet.

They were all grieving in different ways.

Fuyumi took a deep breath before going inside. Hoping that it was nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between kids. She saw Kyoya seated while holding his book tightly. She knew that Kyoya noticed her arrival, but he continued to look at his feet and avoided her gaze.

"What's wrong, Kyo-chan?" she knelt looking at her brother in the eye.

Kyoya shook his head. A small pout on his face. He knew he did something wrong, but he was just defending himself. He was sure he was right, and he didn't know why Kuze was telling him otherwise.

Kanan came in clean as she tugged the hem of Fuyumi's dress. "Kyoya and Kuze fought while we were playing in the sandbox."

"Really?" Fuyumi kept her tone soft. "What did you fight about, Kyo-chan? Can you tell me?"

Kyoya shook his head again. His eyes started to well up with tears which was followed by a short sob. He wiped his eyes and stopped himself from crying. Akito-nii and Yuuichi-nii wouldn't cry. He was going to be brave just like his big brothers.

Kuze came running to Fuyumi's side and shouted. "It's because he's a liar! He pretends to know everything!"

Kanan hit Kuze on the back of the head. "Be nice to Kyoya!"

Kuze rubbed the back of his head and glared at Kyoya. "It's true! He said that there's no way it's possible." He stomped.

Even as a child, Kyoya was a tough nut to crack. He always tried to be like his older brothers. He wanted to be smart like Yuuichi-nii and brave like Akito-nii. Besides, Akito-nii told him to never back down from a fight no matter what. The teacher took Kanan and Kuze to the playground so Fuyumi could speak to Kyoya in private.

"Am I in trouble?" Kyoya fiddled with the hem of his shirt.

Fuyumi pat Kyoya's head. "Hmmm…I can't say Kyo-chan. You must tell me what happened so I can help you."

"But Akito-nii told me to not be a wuss!" he heaved out a sigh. "I know I'm right. Kuze is just stupid."

"Kyoya, we don't call other people stupid." Fuyumi reminded.

"But it's true. Yuuichi-nii told me to tell the truth." Kyoya blinked a few times and wiped his tears off quickly so his sister wouldn't notice.

Fuyumi stretched her back and took a deep breath. She'll be giving her two brothers a long talk after this. The things they teach their youngest brother are being taken out of context. Just last week Kyoya asked what bribery meant and if he can really use it to get others to do what he wants.

"Just apologize to Kuze-kun, okay?"

"But he started it!" he crossed his arms.

Fuyumi wanted to bury her face in her hands. Ootori pride and stubbornness started at a very young age. It was truly ingrained into their system.

"You have to be the bigger person and apologize." Fuyumi sat down and held Kyoya's hand.

Kyoya bit his lip and the gears in his brain started turning. His imagination was far too vivid and creative for someone his age. "So, I just have to apologize? But I don't mean it."

"Sometimes you'll have to do things you don't want to keep things peaceful." Fuyumi hugged Kyoya closedly. "I'll tell you a secret, you don't always have to mean it."

He looked at his sister like as if she told him Tachibana had wings and could fly. "So I can say something I don't mean? But Yuuichi-nii said lying is bad."

"Not all lies are bad." Fuyumi winked.

His brows furrowed and he stood up. "Okay, I'll tell Kuze I'm sorry."

Fuyumi was glad she was able to talk some sense into her 5-year-old brother. She watched him apologize to Kuze and they both made up as quickly. Forgetting about the fight just as fast as it started.

As Kyoya and Fuyumi went out of the school, he held his sister's hand tightly. She was his favorite person after all. She always let him watch cartoons after dinner in her room. She also liked listening to his stories and would ask him about all sorts of things in school.

"Will you finally tell me what you and Kuze fought about?" she looked down at him.

"He kept telling me you need trains for sushi."

"Trains?" Fuyumi raised a brow.

"Kuze said you can only get sushi if it's on a train." He had an expression on his face that just showed pure uninhibited confusion of a five year old. "I've never had sushi that's on a train. The chef always gives it on a plate."

Fuyumi watched her brother go on and explain his side.

"Kuze said that sushi comes in small plates on a train." Kyoya paused and stared at Fuyumi with more questions in his eyes. "How can a restaurant have trains inside? He said the train would carry plates of sushi and bring it to the table. We always have sushi, but the chef doesn't take the train to bring me ootoro. He just gives it us." He said with multiple gestures mimicking the chef handing him a plate of fresh sushi.

Fuyumi bit her lip to stop herself from laughing. Kuze was talking about the conveyor belt sushi seen in regular malls. Kyoya's had nothing but exclusive five star omakase restaurants his entire life. She made a mental note to expose her brother to all sorts of things.

"I know a place that serves sushi on small trains, do you want to see that?"

"So Kuze wasn't lying?" he tilted his head to the side. "Where do you find that?"

"We can go there for dinner if you want."

Here's a one shot of preschooler Kyoya just because. Nothing more.
