"Why didn't you want to play Frank-N-Furter, Kurt? It's one of the leads!" Mercedes asked as they walked into the hallway after the final bell. She had to quicken her steps to keep up with the boy; he was definitely a fast walker.

"I'm kind of offended Shue offered it to me." He grunted as he aggressively opened his locker as Mercedes leaned against the one next to it.

"Why?" She asked with a scoff. "You'll kill it. Besides, I think you'll look hot in a dress." She smiled with a raised eyebrow.

Kurt rolled his eyes with a small grin and picked up his level three French book.

"I may not know the film all that well," Kurt said, "but I think you'll look great in those red wigs." He chuckled as Mercedes jokingly slapped his shoulder. Their friendly banter was interrupted by Queen Bee herself marching up directly to the two Glee club members near the lockers. She faced them with dramatic eyes.

"An emergency Glee club meeting! Now!" She stated, sternly. Mercedes and Kurt eyed the girl for a few seconds before they saw her skid down the hallway.

"Whatever shall it be?" Kurt asked sarcastically to his friend as he shut his locker closed and made his way towards the choir room.

"Eh? Finn probably hooked up with Quinn again," she snickered, but stopped short when her friend didn't respond.

Kurt bit his lip and looked to the ground for a moment. He felt a weird tightness in his chest.

"I'm pretty sure she's seeing Sam."

Mercedes did a double take and looked around like it was some huge secret that couldn't be revealed.

"Sam? You mean that new blonde cutie who looks like a Ken doll?" She asked. Kurt had to smile at the description she gave.

"That's him."

Mercedes may not be the most observant person there is, but over the past two years, she has gotten to know Kurt like a book. She knows he loves fashion and makeup, but he doesn't like wearing makeup. She knows one of his biggest pet peeves is when people click their tongue while concentrating. She knows that his best subject is French because he used to watch French soap operas when he was younger.

But she also knows that Kurt Hummel is easy to read, and she knows when something is bothering him.

You never did tell me why your duet with Sam fell through?" she asked. Guessing it had something to do with that.

"He wanted a girl," Kurt simply responded. He kept walking and barely made eye contact. Mercedes wasn't buying it.

I may not know Sam that well, but he seemed like a sweet guy when I met him. I doubt he really said that to your face." She looked up at the taller boy and stopped outside the choir room. Kurt finally turned around to face her directly. His eyes looked tired.

"He didn't have too." He mentioned before slowly entering the room.

"I really don't know why you had to call a Glee meeting for this," Quinn grumbled as she and the rest of the Glee members that Rachel could wrangle up from the hallway, sat down in their usual seats.

"This meeting is about Mr. Shue," the loud brunette exclaimed. Santana rolled her eyes and tilted her head back in annoyance.

"Berry," Santana grumbled. "We don't care that we're doing Rocky Horror! It's a play, right? That's all that matters. Besides, I get to be the lips." She smirked, crossing her arms.

"Nice pair of lips." Brittany whispered in the silent room. Santana eyed her directly and nudged her shoulder. But she couldn't help but smile slightly.

True," Rachel responded to the Latina. "But isn't it odd that he's making us perform a rather seductive play? What do you think it means?" She asked, stroking her chin.

Kurt rolled his eyes. She called a Glee meeting for this?

Puck spoke from the back row. "Maybe he's compensating for something?" He said, sitting in his chair backwards. The rest of the Glee kids grinned at this.

"Mr. Shue? He needs all the help he can get!" Santana said. "He looks like he walked straight out of a Michael Cera movie with that sweater vest." Santana snickered. She felt really proud of that comparison.

"Look! I didn't plan this emergency Glee meeting to roast our teacher!" Rachel squeaked. She was getting rather defensive.

"Plan?" Quinn chuckled humorlessly. "You literally dragged us in here without consent even though the seventh period ended fifteen minutes ago."

Rachel opened her mouth as if she wanted to respond, but couldn't find the words and felt rather defeated by the expectant gazes of the other Glee members, waiting for her to speak.

She cleared her throat and walked over to the piano, taking out a gavel from her backpack and tapping it on the top of the instrument. Next to a pile of sheet music.

"Where'd you get that?" Puck asked. No real curiosity in his voice. Just confusion.

"Oh this?" Rachel raised them too. "I bought it so I'll be able to punctuate my points during emergency Glee meetings." She smiled and banged it twice on the table for emphasis.

There was an awkward silence in the room for a few seconds. Everyone debated whether to just get up and leave the Jewish girl in the room alone with her gavel.

"Why are you upset we're doing Rocky Horror? You're playing the lead with Finn. Can't get better than that." Quinn's words seemed friendly, but they were spoken in a very bitter tone.

Rachel smiled sardonically and placed the gavel on top of the sheet music before linking her fingers over the piano keys.

"Oh, Quinn," she said. "It's about time you stopped being jealous. Finn and I are perfect together. So, are you dating Sam?" she asked.

Kurt had that uncomfortable feeling again in his chest. He knew it would pass. It had to. He looked towards the spot in the front row where Sam would be sitting, but he wasn't there. Along with Finn, Artie, Mike, and Tina, who were also missing. He guessed Rachel hadn't been able to find them in the hall.

Quinn said, "Sam?" She paused. "No, Sam and I aren't dating. We just sang together and had dinner. That's it."

This revelation made Kurt smile slightly. He was sure that Sam would want someone like Quinn. He thought Sam would be with her in a heartbeat.

"Really?" Puck said. "Because you guys sure sang a pretty deep song--"

"They said they aren't dating! Leave it." Kurt snapped. All eyes were on him. The first time he talked during this meeting.

He said, "I mean, they aren't." He tried to justify his actions, but everyone remained silent.

"Well, I'm out of here," Santana grumbled as she rose from her chair. "Thanks for nothing, Berry." Brittany followed her out.

"Do you think I'll make a good Rocky?" Sam asked in the boys locker room. Football practice just ended so they were all getting undressed. Sam Evans was always secure in his body so he never felt insecure while changing like lots of other guys do, but he noticed that a lot of the guys in this school were much stronger then the guys in his other school were.

Finn emerged from behind the row of lockers, holding a loose, sweat-soaked shirt in his hands. He stopped short, gazing down at Sam's body.

There is no direct term for that.

Finn saw the type of body Sam possessed. A lean body with abs. This made the taller boy look down at himself. Feeling insecure about his different body type.

"Uh..." Finn started, trying to remember what Sam had asked him. "Rocky? Why wouldn't you be a good Rocky?" Finn asked, throwing his shirt into the open locker, a few down from Sam's.

Sam smiled but shook his head slightly. "I mean, I'm new here and I'm already playing a lead in a play. It's kind of nerve-wracking." Sam ran his fingers through his blonde hair.

The tall teen scoffed and turned towards the blonde boy. "Dude, you're complaining about playing the lead? Be grateful."

Sam looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Aren't you playing the main role too?" he asked.

Finn stood there. Remembering his role, he replied simply, "Right." He continued, "But you have nothing to be afraid of. You have the perfect body."

The blond boy looked up sharply. Sure, Sam worked out, he ate right and he may have been pretty secure in his body, but his body wasn't perfect when he looked in the mirror.

"See ya, man," Finn grunted as he walked out the door. His hair was damp with sweat, and his shirt had turned see-through.

Sam was alone in the locker room now. No other males were there. As he closed his locker shut, he turned to face the mirror next to the bench press machine and dumbbells. He still had no shirt on and his pants were low against his hips.

He saw his lean and tanned body in the reflection. Perfectly sculpted.

He flattened his hands against his stomach and down to his hips. He felt the skin on his torso and pinched his hip fat, then bit his lip.

Sam had to admit, he had gained a few pounds since moving schools. He was the type of guy who would eat when he was nervous or stressed. So moving schools definitely had an effect on him.

He didn't like looking at the fat on his hips. Especially knowing that he was going to have to be shirtless in front of everyone in Glee and wear those tight, shiny gold pants.

Not only that, but it will also show his...

Sam looked down at his crotch for a moment and cursed under his breath.

He muttered "crap."

He turned swiftly toward the door after hearing some footsteps outside. He heard the footsteps stop short near the entrance, but he saw nothing.

"Hello," he said awkwardly, as he leaned over the opening of the door.

"Sam?"

The blonde boy won't lie. He can recognize Kurt's voice from a mile away.

"Oh, hey Kurt." The boy spoke as Kurt finally popped out from behind the locker room door. Sam stepped back over to the mirror but looked back over at the door, seeing Kurt was still standing outside.

"You can come in, you know," Sam said, smiling, though his eyebrows were raised in confusion. He noticed Kurt seemed pretty tense; he was looking at the ground and gripping the straps of his side satchel.

Sam asked with curiosity, "Did you need something?" He fixed the shirt in his hands, turning it right-side out.

Kurt averted eye contact from the blonde teen once again. In fact, it looked like Kurt was looking everywhere but at him.

Kurt whispered, "I was just looking for Finn. He said we'll carpool home." His voice went up an octave.

Sam nodded in understanding. "Why didn't you wait in the parking lot?"

He noticed Kurt tense up again after this statement. Sam realized how harsh this must have sounded. He didn't want it to sound like he didn't want Kurt near him; he was just curious why he had to go all the way to the locker room.

Kurt cleared his throat and raised his head slightly. "Finn doesn't want me to wait in the car because it looks suspicious."

Sam had to jerk his head closer to Kurt. Like he didn't hear him right. Suspicious? Really? Was Finn really this shallow, or was Kurt exaggerating? He honestly hoped it was the latter.

"Well, that's a load of crap." Sam muttered as he threw the white shirt over his head. His wet hair flopping in front of his eyes.

Kurt looked taken back by this, but didn't say anything. His mouth opened as if he wanted to speak, but it just snapped shut again after a few moments.

"It's fine," Kurt replied back. He looked around at the empty locker room again, having no sight of the tall teen.

"Is that why you refused to come into the locker room?" Sam asked. He noticed Kurt's anxiety and his usual confidence wavering.

Kurt looked his way again and sighed. "I'm just looking for Finn," he finally replied.

The blonde wanted to tell him that Finn had already left, but he didn't want him to get upset.

He might anyway when he finds out his car is gone...

Sam suggested, "Why don't you stay and wait for him?" as he put on deodorant from his locker. Kurt still looked hesitant to get comfortable in the locker room. Had he never been there before?

Sam started. "Kurt, you know you're allowed to come in here. It's not just for football players, you know." He chuckled slightly and closed his locker.

Kurt bit his lip and walked farther into the room. He looked behind some lockers to make sure no one else could see him.

Sam asked, with a raised eyebrow, "Have you ever been in here before?"

Kurt cleared his throat and played with the straps of his sack. "I have," he replied. "I was on the football team--"

"You were on the football team?!" Sam exclaimed. Kurt slightly rolled his eyes and looked to the side with a dull expression.

"Don't look too surprised. I was the kicker." He muttered.

"Still impressive though."

Kurt looked up at Sam and smiled in gratitude.

It was awkward in the room for a few moments more. Sam even decided to open his locker again to keep his hands busy.

"Can we discuss the elephant in the room?" Sam asked, breaking the silence, causing Kurt to jump some.

"Which one?"

"Sorry?" Sam asked, trying to contain a smirk.

"Forget it. What did you want to say?" Kurt sat down slightly on the barbell bench and cringed when it squeaked as he put his weight on it.

"Are you upset with me?" Sam asked, leaning against the locker tower, facing where Kurt was sitting.

"Sam, we talked about this..." Kurt rolled his eyes. "It's not you, it's me--"

"Oh, now you're breaking up with me?"

This comment made Kurt's blood run cold. He gasped slightly and hopefully not audibly.

"T- that came out wrong. I- I didn't want to! I j-just meant you didn't--"

"I'm just messing with you, Kurt." Sam chuckled as he saw Kurt exhale in relief.

"But I must say..." Sam began as he paced the room very slowly as Kurt's eyes followed. "You don't seem like the same confident teen I saw on my first day in Glee club. Now you seem more reserved and you say it's not me, but I think it might be--"

"It's Finn!" Kurt finally snapped. He facepalmed slightly and shook his head. Angry at himself for the outburst.

"What did Finn do?" Sam asked, curiously. "Isn't he your brother?"

Kurt shook his head but then replied with "Yes... our relationship is very complicated. He is a firm believer that every gay guy wants to get with a straight boy. Hence, why he doesn't like me so much and doesn't want me to sing a duet with you."

Kurt was surprised with himself for being so honest. He usually never is about this stuff unless it's at a sleepover with his girl friends, gossiping and sipping tea. Not with a straight football player whom he barely knows.

"I see." Sam cleared his throat. "So in simple terms, he believes you were trying to come on to me?" He asked as he leaned against the locker tower again. Kurt nodded in reply.

"Well, I didn't see it that way. Kurt, I went to an all boys school. Guys in that school would slap eachothers asses down the hallway and it was considered straight. Trust me, you aren't a threat to me."

Kurt chuckled at this and looked to see Sam sitting on the ground now, looking straight at him. Silence once again filled the room.

"Nice to know." Kurt finally replied with an exhale. Feeling lighter than when he walked in.

"I should probably try to find Finn. He has my keys." Kurt got up and headed to the door.

"Finn left a while ago."

Kurt stopped and turned around to face the blonde boy in annoyance.

"Why didn't you just say that when I came in here?"

"I wanted to talk..." Sam smirked and got up from the ground himself.

Kurt rolled his eyes once more and exited the locker room once and for all. Sam sighed as he finally got done getting dressed and exited the locker room as well.

"Okay guys! Let's take it from the top!" Mr. Shue exclaimed as he clapped his hands to the Glee kids, who were now in the auditorium, rehearsing "The Time Warp." Everyone in their half costumes. Some only wear wigs, some only wearing shirts and some only wearing pants. Sam was the unfortunate one who was only wearing his golden underwear.

The first thing he heard when he walked on stage was the girl's cat calling him and Puck laughing. Calling his underwear, "Nut- crunchers!"

It was hard for him to dance with his tight underwear. He usually felt okay in his body, but seeing everyone looking at him when he was basically naked on stage in front of a brand new school, he felt very self conscious.

Kurt seemed to notice this while they were practicing. Everyone else was focused on their performance and Kurt is usually one to focus on that as well, but after the conversation he had with Sam in the locker room, he felt more comfortable talking to him without the fear of him forcing his "gayness" on anyone.

"Sam?" Kurt asked as they were dancing and Sam looked over his shoulder at his name being called. "If you don't want to do this, tell Mr. Shue." Kurt mentioned as he nodded his head to the Glee instructor who was directing where Santana, Finn and Quinn should stand.

"Here's a tip. Mr. Shue is a great teacher but sometimes he goes overboard with what he wants from us and we have to be the voice to tell him something that's off. Mike told him he can't play Frank N' Furter, so you can tell him you don't want to play Rocky." Kurt mentioned as he stretched his arms from side to side to crack his tight bones before performing.

Sam smiled slightly and looked down. He could hardly take Kurt seriously with the wig he wore.

"It's okay, man. I want to make a good impression, and complain about my first real break." He chuckled as pulled up his very tight gold underwear, making sure his love handles he thought he didn't have were showing.

He was caught off guard by Kurt laughing beside him.

"Big break? You're performing in front of a high school as a character from a grindhouse style film from the seventies. You'll be fine." He smirked as he looked ahead of him, holding back another chuckle.

Sam looked over at him with a small smile and bit his lips in concentration. He looks back over at the other Glee members. Rachel was in her own world, trying to meditate before performing, as the other members either chatted away with each other or just sat in silence.

"William!"

They looked to the front of the auditorium to see the principal walking towards the stage. Everyone looked his way.

"I like to see you in my office, please!" He stated firmly. Everyone heard Shue sigh deeply as he aggressively walked off stage to catch up to his boss. All the other glee members looked confused but continued on with their conversation.

Once he left, it was silent between the two boys again.

"You know..." Sam started again. Regaining Kurt's attention. "You should play Rocky." He offered

Kurt looked over at him like he grew a second head. "What?" He asked again. His eyebrow pinched together in confusion.

Now Sam was the one who looked confused. Why was he so surprised by this offer?

"What?" Sam asked back. They made eye contact for an awkward amount of time.

Kurt suddenly broke out of his trance.

"Uh, nothing, it's just..." He sighed deeply. "I just don't think I'll be able to pull it off. I don't have abs." He plainly said with an annoyed grunt as he sat down on one of the prop chairs.

"You don't?" Sam asked.

Kurt smiled and laughed to himself. "Stop." He lightly touched his arm but recoiled it quickly. Like he was burned.

"Why do you keep doing that?" Sam asked as he sat down next to the boy. Kurt looked up at him in worry. Like he just did something morally wrong.

"What?" Kurt asked.

"You keep acting like I'm gonna hurt you." Sam sighed. "You know I won't, right?"

Kurt sighed and his eyes fluttered closed for a second. Almost like a revelation was made. A revelation that Sam didn't know about yet.

"I do now." He simply responded. Kurt doesn't know why but he trusts this blonde teen. He looks like someone who keeps their words and that something Kurt isn't used to.

The two teens were interrupted by Shue and Finn coming back into the auditorium. Finn looking down and Shue looking annoyed.

"So what's the prognosis?" Santana asked as she crossed her arms.

"Well..." Shue started with a sigh as he placed his hands on his hips, as Finn climbed the steps of the stage.

"I got Finn out of a suspension. I'll just leave it at that."

It was silent for a second more.

"For walking down the hall in his tighty whities?" Santana asked as now all eyes focused on Finn again, him looking around, sheepishly.

"How did you know?" He asked nervously.

"I was in the hallway, and yes, I was one of those kids who signed up for therapy." She smirked as Finn rolled his eyes.

Sam and Kurt made eye contact again as they silently laughed at the situation.

"Also guys..." Shue started. "We've decided to not do Rocky Horror--"

"What?!" Rachel screeched. "Mr. Shue! This is my chance to shine--"

"Oh, be quiet, Berry. Don't get your panties in a twist. We don't want to see that." Santana smirked as the other members tried to hide their laughs.

"But you can perform it once for me!" Shue mentioned with a smile, expecting the teens to clap for him.

"Isn't that kind of creepy?" Quinn asked. Sitting on a stool.

"Quinn, when isn't he creepy! Let's go!" Rachel screeched and got into position, as if they are going to perform right now.

As Sam was walking forward, he felt a hand in his shoulder.

"I guess you lucked out." He said with a smile.

See you next Tuesday! 3
