The Eve of Christmas Eve, what better time than to contact the leader of the Saints? You aren't sure how you came to have the number, but you gave it a try. To your surprise, she answered, meeting you in a diner. She will meet you early in the morning, as she will head that way on her way to pick up her Christmas gifts.

Texting Johnny, she needs him to get the items for her;

I can't get them and I need you to please? ~

~ Why what u doin?

Something came up ttyl ~

The diner's bell signaled another customer walking in. Kyouki walked in to be specific, "Hi." She cleared her throat after coming to sit at the only empty stool next to you.

"Sucks, all the booths are taken. How are you today?" Raising her finger, she nodded. The waitress nodded back.
She digs into her pockets, checking for something, smiles briefly after finding it. The waitress comes over with a mug in hand and menu, placing both before her. Watching her go over the menu with a quarter of her profile facing you, you notice the color of her eyes; you are staring in wonder how anyone has this color, and if it's contacts.

"Something on my face, or you in deep thought?" She turns to face you with a bright smile. "Oh look, a booth come." You both head to the booth, sitting across from each other. A waitress shortly comes by taking your order. Unzipping her coat, slipping off her hat, the sun catches the deep reds in her dark auburn hair. "What?" She asks, you shake your head signaling nothing is wrong as you remove your coat and hat as well.

"You sent me a text, right? Didn't think you'd be here this early. Pleased to meet you. My name is Kyouki Irissa James, or Wong. But my friends call me Li, or Ky no that's not right, it's a nickname. It sounds like Key or Lee."
Shaking her head no to a question you ask. "For me, it's a switch that goes off in my head, my 'Boss' switch. As it has been called." She made quotations in the air, chuckling.

"Well, as you know I'm the leader of the street gang known as the Third Street Saints, and I'm twenty-five, but my mind tells me I'm eighteen with the year being 1998, more precisely I spent some years in a coma, and when I woke up… everything had changed drastically…"

The waitress comes back to refill their cups. Nodding politely, Kyouki takes a sip of her hot coco. "This is so good. You want to try one? No? Ok, what brought you to Stilwater?" Nodding, she listens to you as you explain your reasons. "To see me? That's so sweet, but you had to have another reason. You know the Saints are under the radar for now, so how'd you really find out?"

Watching you intently as you explain how you came to the city. The waitress comes over with plates of food, and it all looks good.
"Breakfast, it's my cheat day!" Kyouki claps as she eyes the plates she ordered. It looks filling and offers you some.

"You have some more questions for me, ok shoot." She wipes off the fork, digging into the crisp hash browns and scrambled eggs.

The first question that you ask pauses her. She looks up with the fork in her hand and takes a bite, eyeing you. "Am I harboring a secret about who I really am, or do I just feel like I'm hiding my true self? Because of family, my upbringing? And being back from the dead part?"

You nod as she looks around behind her. "You are so lucky right now. If you are an investigator… I'd have to kill you. I KID! No, not really, Gat would def shoot you. But to answer your questions, cause that was more than one… I'm gonna say no, I am who I am, Kyouki. I have nothing to hide." She looks away for a second, out of the window. A waitress comes over after she snaps her finger. She orders a different drink. You look at her in wonderment.

"Let's see, I haven't hidden my true self. I just don't have reasons to talk about myself. I'm amazing!" She laughs and smiles, causing you to chuckle with her, "My family loves me, the James's are protective and loving. I spoke with them recently, I won't get to see them for a while. Gat looked out for them while I was…" She took another bite of her food.

"I was raised in a multicultural household, my Obachan married my Uncle Wong's older brother, who is Chinese, my Obachan is Japanese, both very traditional, go fig right. That gives me 'Wong' as a name to use as a pass if I was ever in any real trouble. But you don't need to know all that."

The waitress came back asking if there's anything else and you both say it's alright for now.

Kyouki stared off into the distance, sighing, remembering what was, "I was in an accident, like I said. For me, my mind is still in 1998. I had plans, hang out with my family, the James's, my Aunt Mimi, Tracy, and Rashad. And some of the crew, my boyfriend Troy, my best friends Gat and Aisha, his girlfriend, and Dex, he never got back to me, I don't think."
Scratching her head, she rubbed the spot. "So I had plans. But.. uh.. when I woke up…"
Taking a drink, she lit up. "Oh! I had gotten a call from my family in Japan, and it was great news, so the dinner was to be a celebration. My Obachan had a surprise for me. I think I know what it was. I could be wrong." Shrugging, she picked at her food, putting the fork down again. She sighed before taking another bite of food.

Chewing quietly, she seems to be deep in thought. You take a bite for yourself and look out the window at the quiet of the suburbs, the sun's rays greeting you. Seeing the morning people up and about, several left the diner, most likely heading to work. It's nearly clear, with a few stragglers that are enjoying their food. You hear the dishes clattering as the cleanup and wiping of tables starts.
Looking over to the young woman you asked to see, see her eyes misting over, "I miss them, my Obachan, more so… she raised me. Died when I was under. God, I miss her." Her head turned, trying to hide her tears.

Sniffling, she cleared her throat. "Sorry. Well, I woke up some time had passed, and I wasn't sure of where I was, cause the last I remember is an explosion going off behind me. See, I was the temp leader of the Saints, and I was meeting up with the newly elected mayor." She looked around, stabbing the pancakes in front of her, "Do you know that son of a…. he had me kill the mayor before by holding my family over my head!" She leaned in harshly, whispering. Kyouki shook her head. It must have been some mess. She was still mad about it. "He was the puppeteer, and I was helpless." Taking another sip, she pushed the plate away, looking for something else to dig in, a fluffy omelette with a side of crispy bacon.

She nodded, swallowing, "So glad that fucker is dead. Hughes was a perverted ass, anyway. Most men in his position are, but he was going to kill me. Me! Guess he thought I was gonna snitch on his ass. I guess he was right." She smirked and snorted.
"What's that? What drove me to need to have the club singer alter ego?" She smiled so brightly, that you caught the bug too, "I at first wanted to be like Aisha, she… died… some years ago…. I wanted to be like her, so much, I LOVE Singing. So therapeutic. Not really an "alter ego." per se, it was just helping with what I had on my lil plate already, like a mini vacation, training in martial arts, etiquette lessons for ceremonies, attending festivals, pretty much groomed to be the Family Head. I think it's more of a title than anything else. But we will see." She nibbled a bit more of the food she had before her, "Oh, I was working at this place call On Track right, wiping down tables for a bit of pocket change. I think I was… Freshman in High School. And then I had stopped that, and started over working at Glitz, well… Was Glitz back then, bussing tables there when I was a Sophomore. And that's when I joined the Saints."

The mention of the word grooming had your eyebrows in your hairline. Kyouki waved her hands, trying to dismiss the thought all over your face. "No, not like that. I read about that, no. It was to take over my Japanese family business, Ramen shops."

She shook her head, rolling her eyes playfully. "You think someone can 'groom' me?" She chuckles again. "I did what I had to do as a kid. I studied. I did as I was told. Sometimes you just need a break, things for you. I was allowed that. They didn't know what exactly, but I came home safe."

Sounding off your next question, you take in all that she is saying. "How did I get into gang life? My life was saved, and as a responsible person I went to those men who did." Nodding her head, shrugging, "Little did I know."

She took a sip from her cup, looking up at you, almost slammed the glass down on the table. "Would I do it again? HELL YES!" She leaned back, nodding, her arms folded. "Ok maybe, minus a few heads on my wall."

Her phone rang. She answered silently, apologizing. She was saying where she was as she looked out the window, her eyes, they are so striking, you can't help but stare as the sun highlights them more.
She turned and you look to see a tall man with dark hair coming in, who was hanging up after looking and hearing Kyouki wave him over.
When he walked up, he towered over Kyouki. She looked up at the newcomer.

He looks at you and you swear you hear the man growl, you shrink back a bit, his aura is intimidating, "Hey, sup?" Nodding to you, "Who you in here talking to?" Addressing Kyouki and then back at you, shooing her over so he can sit.

"My friend. Ignore him. This is Johnathan, or Gat, or Johnny. Or Robo leg."

"Yo, shut that shit up." He chuckled, shaking his head.

Ky looked at him and smiled. "This is my best friend."

Gat smiled back. "For now."

Her eyebrows rose. "Eh?"

"Nothing. I got what you asked for here." Handing her the keys to his car, he got up so she could slide out of the booth, "I'll keep them company."

"No scaring my new friend. I'll be right back." Kyouki gets up, leaving out. You watch her go to the cars.

Gat looks at you with an eyebrow raised and a wicked grin. "What she say about me?"

You tell him what she said, about her family and how he helped them. He nodded in agreement.

"Fuck you just say?" He focused on your face, as if he was about to go against what Kyouki just told him not to do. She should be here now. You feel like you are now sitting across from the Devil himself. You swallow thickly, repeating what you said.
The features of his face soften slightly, but you can see him looking back at you hard, even through his shades. He sighed, content. "Is it really that hard for me to admit I found my Soulmate? That I need her in my life? You said that shit?"

You nod, and he draws his gun on you. Here in public, he laid the gun aimed at your head on the table gently. He put his elbows on the table, removing his shades. "I've known her for years. And you knew her for what, an hour, and me a few seconds?"

You nod, gulping again, looking between him and the gun on the table.

Johnny looked out the window, watching her go from trunk to trunk. His features soften more and you follow his line of sight. "She means more to me than she'll ever know. Me in female form. You don't find people like that. She used to be annoying as hell. You don't get to talk about her, and lucky as hell, you are even talking to her." You are certain that was a warning.

Kyouki comes back in, seeing the gun laying on the table, pops the back of Gat's head, "Stop doing that. I can't leave for 5 minutes without you terrorizing people, damn man." Shoving the gun in his jacket pocket. "I apologize for him. He's annoying as hell." Looking at him punches him in the arm. He smirked, looking away, putting the gun back in its holster as his finger to his lips to keep it between you two, where she couldn't see.

Putting his arm on the back of the booth, protectively behind Kyouki relaxing, you relax a bit more too. Two of the most dangerous people in the world are before you and it's a normal day for them. You catch him watching her eat, and he takes her fork and digs in. "What I didn't eat yet."

"Really?"

"Yeah, Ish was asleep. I didn't feel like cooking. I got up and brought what you asked."

"Fine." Li snapped her finger, and a waitress was right at her elbow. Kyouki ordered another plate.

"How do you do that? So now you don't want to eat behind me?"

You wondered how she does it, too.

"I share lollipops with you. Isn't that enough?" Kyouki looked at you. "You need something else. We should be going."

You point to Gat, and he raises his eyebrows in curiosity. Posing your question, he thinks for a moment.

"Well… Mayhem or murder, which is better?" You nod while taking a drink.
Pointing between himself and Kyouki, "We are the Mayhem." He smirked. Kyouki rolled her eyes, snorting.

He then grabbed Kyouki's head hugged it tight as she struggled to pry him off. "As far as murder, my sheet is so fucking long. For her, I'd do it all over again." He let her go and took the hits Kyouki gave as she swatted at him, cursing him in Japanese.

When they settled down, Kyouki fixed her now messy hair. "Oshiri, you will die today."

"No, I won't. You love me."

"No, I don't, not today."

"Ouch." He pouted, then grinned.

Kyouki went to pay for the meal and Gat signalled they were ready to pay, taking her wallet from her. "Anyway, we should get going, but I have a question for you. You wanna be a Saint?"

They both looked at you, waiting for your answer.

Christmas Eve, December 24, 2004

Finally, it happened, the snow fell. Kyouki got up early, much earlier than normal. She couldn't sleep. It was Christmas Eve, and it was finally snowing. She saw it from the window when she went to open the curtains to let the cloudy morning light in.

She had been busy cooking the night before, and up after getting most Christmas dinner made. Like the sides, that can be reheated.

Everyone was asleep. The tree sat almost blocking the window, but she saw it clearly. Then, sighing, she grabbed her coat and shoes. In the cold air, she could hear nothing but the falling of the snow, distant cars. It was peaceful. She danced. A dance her Obachan taught her. They danced together, welcoming the snow. It was cold out, but this was important.

Gat and Aisha got up, the whistle of the kettle alerting them all. The smell of coffee, the sound of the kettle burbling, "Ky is up early." Aisha said, grabbing her robe, heading down to sit with Ky, but Kyouki wasn't in the kitchen. "Johnny!" Aisha called quietly up the stairs, after checking Li's room.

"Yeah?" Gat came down, pulling a hoodie over his head.

"Li isn't here."

Gat looked around. A few of the crew were waking up from the whistle disturbing their slumber, then movement from out of the window behind the wide evergreen caught Aisha's attention. "Is that her out there? It's freezing." She turned the heat in the house up. "Morning hun." she greeted Ren as she came from one of the spare rooms.

"What's going on?" Ren rubbed her eyes, Carlos behind her yawning.

Gat was at the window, sitting on the cushion, watching. Kyouki dancing in the first falling snow of the year. It has been a while since the last snow in Stilwater, and he recognized the dance. He could see Little Kyo- chan and her Obachan dressed in their winter kimonos.

"Boss, out Welcoming the snow." They all looked at each other, then came to the window. Aisha sat with a smile. It looked so beautiful, but so lonely. Kyouki wasn't smiling, Ish remembers the time they, Kyouki and her Obachan, tried to teach her. She wished that minute she knew how to at least give her girl someone to dance with.

Gat broke the silence, "I for one miss that Apple Cinnamon tea. Right Ish?"

Chuckling, Aisha sniffed, "Yeah. Cold days and especially on Christmas Eve, her Obachan served us this really excellent tea."

"It was like a potion. Warm you right up." Ramon added. The others who are new to the group listened on as they watched.

Aisha slid off the day seat heading to the kitchen. She warmed more water, pulled a cup set from the cupboard, working a small bit of magic.

Gat excused himself, heading back up to the bedroom. The house soon smelled of apples and cinnamon. Kyouki entered, seeing the others eyeing her as she came in. "Morning."

The other murmured their good mornings, "That was so pretty Auntie, can you teach me?"

Kyouki nodded, "Geezeus, it's cold as falala. Sure. Who's baking pies?" Removing her wet outer layers.

"Me. Next time you decide to go out in the cold, put more on." Aisha fussed at Kyouki for her thin top she had under her jacket. Pressing a cup in her chilly hands.

"Yes Mom." Kyouki teased. "Ish?" Kyouki's brows furrowed, Aisha looked over her shoulder. "This is good." They both gave a knowing smile to each other.

"Drink up and go shower. I'm making breakfast."

The others grabbed a cup and admitted the tea hit the spot. Gat joined the rest. For once, keeping quiet, he was in thought. They all enjoyed the breakfast that was a small feast.

The guys piled their plates, chatting about how this holiday is going, and what they used to do with their families when they were younger. Then the important topic of the snow that needed to be shoveling.

"I'll shovel when I'm done with this. Carlos, Ren, you come help me." Kyouki was up, gathering her dirty dishes on her way to the sink.

Brian got up, taking his dishes to the kitchen too. "I'll help too." He scooted Ky over. "Least I can do."

"Sweet. Thanks for the hand I'll get dressed. Diva you coming?" Kyouki called in the doorway.

Johnny's phone rang. "Yeah, let me go get dressed." He answered his phone as he headed up the stairs.

"He's in a weird mood."

Aisha took his dishes to the kitchen. "Since earlier."

"What do you mean?" Kyouki cleaned up the dishes brought to her.

Aisha shrugged a bit. "I think he said it best. He misses your Obachan. We all do, and we know you do, cause you wouldn't have been out in the cold. Your dance was beautiful, hun."

Ky smiled, "I do miss her, but she would be proud. I know she's with us. I could feel her out there. And with what's going on now. I want to do it right." Placing the plates in the dish drain, Kyouki passed off the rag and went to get dressed.

Kyouki put a handful of the fresh snow in her mouth to not give away her position when she breathed. "Do what I just did. It masks your breath, and keep your heads down." She instructed quietly.

Carlos and Ren did as they were told, sitting next to their leader, leaning up against the side of the house. They were ambushed for what feels like hours ago. They were not sure when it happened, but a car came up the street and they hit Ramon on the back of the head.

Now the trio got separated from the rest, with Aisha and Pierce held up in the house. "We have to move. We have to find Gat." Just before they could move, Shaundi came from behind them, squatting next to Ren.

Ky held her hand out, stopping the two from advancing. Ky pointed for Ren to go around the back of the house, as Ky took position looking for a way to get Carlos behind the cars without being seen.

She lobbed a snowball from her spot at the wall. She heard Shaundi move to peer around the back of the house, and she hurled another. A scream came from behind them both.

"Ren's been hit!" Carlos took off behind the house, slipping in the snow. Ky chuckled, and peeked around the corner, and sure enough….

Ramon was with Gat and Brian. "That traitor." Ky sulked. She needed the manpower, but no, it wasn't happening for her it seems. With Carlos going to save Ren, she was on her own.

"Fine, now or never." If she can get then with a spray she can hit at least two, she formed a snowball, came from behind the wall of the house hurling the cold ball in the three large men's direction, with a satisfying pelt to the back of Brian's head, Ramon, also got hit with the spray, Gat dove out of the way, lobbing a ball in her direction.

Ky formed another and quickly fastballed at Gat, who countered with one of his own, and caught her right in the chest. The loud gasp caused Ren and Carlos to come skidding to their leader. "Boss Noooooooooo!" She could hear them shout.

Ky went down, laughing, "Ugh… Uhhh… He got me! You… you… live on for me.. Avenge me…... blah." She laid on the frosted ground, tongue sticking out of her mouth, and could hear the trio charging after Gat. Shaundi was in stitches. She long since gave up the fight. The second person to be hit in the snowball fight was her.

Kyouki sat up, panting. "Can we get this done, please? I'M FREEZING!" She was calling a truce. She was cold, and didn't need to catch a cold.

Gat came from the back of the house, creeping up on her. "So you give up?"

Ky's eyes went wide. "Yes?"

Johnny paused, confused. "Was that an answer or a question?"

"BOTH!" She flung some snow, catching Johnny in his face, "HAHAHA, I WIN!" She finally caught him off guard, "You let me win, didn't you?"

Shaking his head, "You cheated." Wiping his face off with his sleeve.

"I did not!"

He chuckled and pelted her with the two snowballs he had in his hands. "You know you did."

"I regret nothing!" She laughed, out of breath.

"Come on, let's get this done. I got a few things to do in an hour." Gat helped her up, going to shovel the rest of the snow, and now new snow they forgot about.

"What you gonna do?" Kyouki inquired, pushing the snow in a neat pile on the strip that separates the neighbor's lawn.

"None of your business."

"Oh, oh. I see." As Kyouki shoveled the portion of the driveway that was covered, she gingerly tossed it at Gat's back.

"Oh, you are asking for a rematch?"

"Nope, too cold!" She was finished tossing the shovel to Brian.

It was too cold. As she trotted inside the warm house, Ramon waited until Kyouki walked into the house before approaching Gat, "You ready? I got the van."

Johnny nodded. "Yeah, let's put this stuff away and we'll leave."

A few hours later, Ky went to help Ish as she had taken meat and vegetables out for dinner. "Noel, need help?"

"Don't come up here. I'll hand the boxes down." Ish called from the attic.

"Tsk. Fine, Carlos, can you help?" Kyouki went back to the kitchen. Brian was in there washing off some vegetables. He noticed Kyouki looking around.

"They left, said they will be back tonight."

"Thanks. Here, let me go, chill."

"Nah, it would be rude of me not to help."

Shaundi came into the kitchen. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Set the table?" Kyouki went to the cabinets, pulling down the plates. "The Silverware is in that drawer." She pointed with her chin. Shaundi found the right drawer after two tries, grabbed the set following behind.

Aisha came down calling Ky, who was slicing meat, frying, and making a sauce.

"Johnny just texted me. He and Ramon are gonna be late." Aisha watched Kyouki's reaction from the doorway as she tossed some shrimp in the pan. Ish's cell chimed. "Ooh!"

"Ooh?"

Aisha didn't answer. She went to the cabinets, taking a couple of extra plates out.

"Eh?"

"Girl, you make more than enough."

Ky snorted. "I am feeding grown children."

Aisha laughed, "The only one who doesn't eat like he's filling a void is Pierce."

Kyouki laughed heartily, "How much longer, because dinner is almost ready." Pulling her cell out of her pocket, she shot Johnny a text. "Nevermind I got it."

How much longer? Dinner is ready, and the tree needs to be done

Give me a few babes.

Aye I'm not Ish!

I know

"Ass." Rolling her eyes, she went back to work in the kitchen.

Singing in the kitchen, like an old pastime, they turned the music up loud enough to not hear anything else that went on in the house. Washing the dishes, Kyouki was happily distracted. The food was being plated up in their serving dishes as she washed the larger dishes after the use of each.

So distracted she was with setting the table on the large lazy susan, did not see, or hear, the front door being open.

"Make me wanna Scream…" she mouthed, bopping along to the song as she placed the last dish on the turner. "Ok, clean up and come eat!" she called over the music. Ducking back into the kitchen to turn the music off.

"Baby Girl, come say hi first." Gat called from the doorway, going back out into the cold.

Hanging her apron up on the hook, she strode into the living room, ready to give Johnny an earful for being so late.
"Bout gottdamn time you show the hell up, both of you! This tree will….. Not…." Kyouki stopped dead in her tracks, all thought derailed, and it floored her she was not seeing things. Was she? Kyouki pinched her arm. No, she wasn't dreaming. They were there, looking at her with wide grins, every one of them, save for Gat and Ramon, who were busy bringing in the luggage.

"Don't just stand there. Come, give Aunty a hug."

Kyouki covered her mouth, bursting into tears. "No, no… Baby don't cry…" Her Aunt, and two cousins cried coming to her, gathering themselves in a big hug of love and tears.

There was not one dry eye, or frown, nothing but smiles from the crew. Sniffing was heard as Kyouki tried to speak, but she couldn't. She was over the moon with her family there. The James' are back in Stilwater and just in time for Christmas.

It took her a minute to collect herself and when she did, she'd start tearing all over again.

"How? I thought you said you couldn't make it."

"Surprise! Wassup." Bobby said, as he shook hands with everyone else in the room.

"We were sworn to secrecy. This is Elijah and Nimani," Tracy added, placing the newest James in Kyouki's arms.

"Hey baby girl. Oh my God, she is flipping adorable!" She gushed at her baby cousin, "And this little man!" She gushed at her cousin, "You two are going to be so spoiled, momma gonna just have to let me keep you!"

"Aye, girl, no, you can't just keep kids like that."

"See, Boss, we told you it doesn't work like that!" Shaundi said as she looked at the baby in Ky's arms.

"Oh hush, yes, it does. And you gonna have to catch us first, run E.J, come on." She trotted off slowly with her little cousins, Nimani, in her arms and a hand held Elijah by the hand. He giggled as they ran away from his mom.

"Girl, bring my babies back here." Tracy laughed, thankful for the break she knows is coming.

"Never!" Ky called from the dinner table. "Come on, food's getting cold."

Everyone agreed it was high time they ate.

"So, who swore you to secrecy?" Kyouki called as she plated some food for her cousin.

As soon as the words left her lips, Johnny locked the front door. Hanging his coat up, he went to the bathroom to wash his hands.

"Gat, did. He called us up, told us to pack and here we are."

"Sure did, and baby, we sure missed you. You look good, baby!" Her Aunt Mimi came to give her face some more kisses before she took her seat. Eyeing her niece, beaming.

"Bobby, I swear you can't keep no damn secrets." Gat chastised Kyouki's cousin, taking his place between Aisha and Ky at the table.

Ky turned her head to her best friend, and smiled, "Johnathan Gat is the biggest softie ever! We will have to tell the world, call the press!"

All of them burst out laughing. Gat snorted and couldn't deny it. His soft spot was sitting right there next to him. He would have liked it better if Bobby didn't tell her, but seeing her smile… That made his Christmas.
