A tour through the warehouse, Kyouki was showing signs of displeasure. The Saints who were working in the warehouse stiffened when their Boss was present. Even in Purgatory. Wearing a frown, she walked the aisles like a Sargent walking among her troops. It was harder and harder for the crew, hers and her Lieutenants, to speak with her without being subjected to her cold disapproving responses.
"Boss, we have started production and we have already filled several cases." Seeing the Boss stand there unmoved, a blank unblinking stare as if speaking held no sway. "Boss?"
"And what do you want me to do about it?" Kyouki asked coldly. She couldn't stop herself from being dismissive. To her, the next approach would be the next step. "You people are really idiots."
The man in front of her was confused. "Uh… Did I do something wrong?"
Ranja came up at the exchange and she could see something hovering around the Boss. "I got this. Li?" She could see it for a while now.
The woman turned her head with the same look as if she had to answer. It would be beneath her.
Ranja took a breath. "You feel well?"
Kyouki's eyes narrowed. "Let me ask you a question?" She ground her teeth, making her jaw hurt. Ranja nodded. Kyouki sneered. "Do you like questioning your superiors, or am I to do everything here?"
"No. I ask because I overheard. I see you are not yourself." Ranja answered politely.
Kyouki nodded slowly. She turned to walk away. "Call to Shaundi and Pierce, start moving shit for distribution."
Ranja watched as her boss walked away. There was a dark, looming cloud surrounding her, growing darker by the day. Doing what she asked of her, she went to tend to the plants, weighing how to tell the Boss she's hexed.
When she woke up in the hospital, she had thoughts of what happened. She looked between Gat and Aisha, and then she became angrier.
She apologized, and still felt it wasn't enough. Asked them to leave, they refused, Kyouki didn't want them around. So she distanced herself. The anger kept building.
The doctors, the constant prodding, were grating. Fucking questions.
What the kicker was, all the testing they had done with her, came back negative. Gat stormed out. Kyouki sat confused. When Aisha went to comfort her, Ky just turned away, her fist balled, shaking her head no.
Ky didn't want to be touched. What had happened between them shouldn't have. It felt like all her impulses were sky high and reason went out the window.
In short, she felt nothing and everything.
Kyouki took a drive. She could feel something was wrong. She was furious over the littlest things. Today, it was information she needed. Hostel over a simple question of her health? Ky felt fine, other than her headaches were having her want to bash her skull open to ease the pain.
Already her boss reprimanded her over a fight she finished between two patrons at the Club Koi.
Driving the highway, she just needed an open road. No destination, no Saints, no business to handle, nobody. When she arrived at a destination, she felt better. She had parked grabbing a bottle of water she took a few sips. Sitting admiring the view from one of the rest spots on Mt. Claflin, Kyouki turned her phone off, leaned her seat back, closed her eyes and took a nap. Her dreams were quiet. She couldn't deal with people today, or any day.
Kyouki opened her eyes and stood on an island surrounded by the clearest inviting waters. She smiled. Felt the warm sun on her skin, she felt peace. White fluffy clouds sluggishly floated high above in the bluest sky she's ever seen.
Watching the waves lap the shore, she took it in all before her. A sharp wind pushed her a bit.
"Beautiful isn't it?"
Kyouki jumped at the sudden voice speaking. Spinning around, she saw a girl in her height, oversized sweatshirt and baggy jeans. "What?"
"You heard me." The girl sighed.
"Where did you come from?" Looking around, she saw no one else, no footprints either.
"The past. Well, in the recent past."
Kyouki walked closer to the girl. She knew who she was by the outfit alone, she just wondered why she was standing talking to herself.
"Because you are the only intelligent person in the room." Younger Kyouki turned to smile at her elder self.
Kyouki smiled. Her Aunt Mimi would say that as she would talk to herself. "Right. Yes, it is beautiful, but why are you here?"
"Because you are misplacing the anger, and I know why you're angry."
Kyouki's surroundings shifted to a pool hall. Kyouki saw the empty hall, and her head throbbed. "No."
"Yeah." Young Li sighed. "The night Lin died. You've been angry about that night. Thinking you needed to be stronger, dominating and you could have saved her."
Kyouki scoffed. "It wasn't supposed to go down like that at all."
"Okay, how's this? The Samedi did the same thing, but they had to jump you to take you." Li looked at her older self and saw that her words weighed. "You left out alone, and instead of being knocked unconscious, they drugged you. Shaundi was right. That is one fucked up group of people."
Kyouki watched as she was back on the island again. The sky grew cold and dark fast, then out of nowhere a vacuum whipped the surrounding sands. Pressure built as she felt it hard to breathe. Shielding her eyes, she dared to move, her hands reaching for the small grove of trees.
A maniacal laughed, the piercing sound of wind howling, thunder clapped and lightning cracked. The ground shook, opened beneath her feet, water was rushing as the tide rolled in, it was rising fast, dark waters, she was panicking something in the waters closing in. Rooted to the spot her heart hammered, she couldn't get away.
The water was to her chest swallowing her, hands trembling, the sound of laughter added to the horrible sounds of nature claiming her. She couldn't look down. She was terrified to look, but she felt it brush her legs. And it loomed behind her.
Kyouki woke when the loud boom shook her from her sleep. Paralyzed, she trembled, panting she could feel her heart hammering. The rain splashed on her, sitting up, still shaking. She quickly started the engine and rolled up the windows.
Looking out of the windshield, seeing it was just a storm invading her dream, she laughed. The lightning lit up the sky. There stood Mr. Sunshine, waving.
'... Please try your call again later.'
Gat had been calling Kyouki all day. She was avoiding him; and promised to check in once a day. Now it was bugging him. 'She turn her phone off?' The woman was still tight-lipped about what happened when she met with the Samedi. "Ish, I'm going out." If he wanted answers, he was going to have to find a second source.
The address Kyouki left him with had him waiting for the house's owner to return home. He won't do like before, he just wanted an answer. Even if being remotely civil was going to kill him.
Gat watched as the car pulled into the driveway, looked like the same one that was parked before. Hopping out of his vehicle. "Yo, Dipshit."
Troy paused. "I don't think you want to be here, Gat."
"No, I do. Lucky for you, I didn't bring my gun."
"We both know you don't need one. What do you want? Kyouki isn't here."
Johnny stood at the end of the driveway with his hands in his pockets. Every ounce of him was ready to jump and bash his face in. But he saved Ky. He'll let it slide. "I want to know what happened the night you saved her."
"Can't." Troy went back to getting his bag out of the car.
Johnny took a deep breath and two steps closer. "I'm not asking again."
Seeing Troy shrug and ignore him, Johnny blurted out what happened with her passing out.
Troy stopped, he placed his bag on the trunk, meeting Johnny half way. "They flushed her system. She said there was a pain in her arm or something like that. Got into an altercation before she woke up with them."
Johnny gritted his teeth. It still didn't explain why she's acting different. They drugged her. Got the jump on her. Gat turned to leave. He had nothing more to say.
"When I found her, they had dumped her out on the highway near that old drive in. How is she? Her eyes better?" Troy just wanted to know since he hadn't spoken to her.
Gat stopped in the middle of the street. Two cars went by before he answered. Troy sucked his teeth, raking his hand through his hair. Watched as Gat pulled off. He turned, grabbed his bag, and went into the house.
Kyouki was shook. That face was the stuff of nightmares. As unintentionally high as she was, His face was beyond recognisable. Why was he now plaguing her? 'No, trick of the light. It was a dream. I wasn't fully awake. Yeah.' That's what Kyouki told herself. The dream along felt too real. She could feel, feel the darkness trying to pull her down and consume her. Many thoughts Kyouki was having were running so close together that Mr. Sunshine was popping back up. "What did that twisted fuck do to me?"
It was dark on the highway, and luckily light traffic. The figure she saw in the faint light of lightning unnerved her. There were crawling shadows forming in the corners of her eyes. She pulled off, careful not to drive off the cliff as she rolled down the mountain. She knew it was in her head. Just knew, she had overheard some talking about how the man was the real life Boogyman, but that was just talk… Right?
Speeding up the highway, she exited, close to where her family was staying. She couldn't go there. That was out of the question. Kyouki had to decide, either stay with Aisha and Gat, another hard no, or Purgatory and ride this out.
Thinking as she turned the wipers off, there was one who she could camp with for the night. Ky looked down for a second and grabbed her phone from the seat. When she looked up, she slammed on the brake and the distinct thud of her hitting someone.
She froze, looking over the steering wheel. A second later, snatching off her seatbelt. "Oh shit, oh shit, no, no, oh… Are you ok?" Kyouki called, tripping out of the car, trembling. Going to the front, she saw a body. "Ohmagod, are you alright?" she bent down to check the body, turning her phone on with the other.
When she looked to dial 911. Ky looked back down, confused. There was nobody there.
"911, what's your emergency?"
Ky checked her surroundings. Someone had to have seen there was a body, hearing the dispatcher, "911 what's…" she hung up. Looking under the car, going to the back of the car. Nothing, seeing people watch her as they walk by, several honking for her to get out of the way. Ky apologized getting back in the car gripping the steering wheel.
The light turned green, and she drove on. Taking deep breaths, she knew she hit someone. There was no evidence, but she knew she hit someone. Shaking her head free from the crazy thoughts, she checked her rear-view mirror. Ky slammed on the breaks screaming as there was someone in the back of her car.
Getting out of the car once more, she fell. She shook so badly her teeth chattered. "What, the actual fuck?" Breathing heavily, she could hear cars honking once more for her to move. "Ky calm down." She told herself.
Her hand hurt, scraping it when she fell. Feeling the sting, she picked herself up, checking the car. "Fuck you people, just go the fuck around!" She screamed at them, waving them to go.
Kyouki opened all of her car doors and made absolutely sure nothing was with her. Shutting the doors, she chuckled to herself for being so spooked, taking several deep breaths she once more pulled off. She was near Troy's and he should be home. Ky didn't want to be around Aisha or Gat, she damn sure didn't want to be in Purgatory.
It was late in the evening, and she saw he wasn't home. Before she pulled off, his car pulled up. Getting out, she didn't know what to say.
"Ky? Why are you here, something happen?"
Kyouki nodded. She couldn't say there was standing behind Troy, looking like Sunshine was walking up on him. Kyouki just nodded, and he came to her. She looked so scared.
"You good?" He asked her again.
Her wide hazel honey eyes looked wild. She was shaking her head. "You, um… I should go. Yeah… yeah." Ky turned, darting for the car. She will take her chances alone.
"No. Come in." He grabbed her wrist, she wrenched so hard away from him she hit her side hard on the hood of the car and screamed in pain.
Troy rushed to her side. "Shit. I'm sorry!"
"No, no, no, it was my fault. Heh.. ow." Ky struggled to right herself Troy helped her to stand. "Thanks."
He shook his head. "No problem. What is going on? Johnny came by not too long ago. He asked me about what happen when I got to you."
"He what?" Now she was nervous. "Wait, he came by? To talk? Did he say anything?" Kyouki froze up again.
"Yeah, I know. He just wanted to know what happen. I didn't say nothing" Troy looked around. It was late and Kyouki must have needed him. Escorting her to the house remembered he had just gone to get his dinner. Seeing her stand with her eyes covered saw how disheveled she looked in better lighting.
Kyouki panicked at the thought of being alone. "Don't leave! I'm not even hungry, heh." The shadows were swirling, and she felt like she was tripping. Would he believe her that the shadows were moving and watching her?
He could see small abrasions on her hands, her elbows, and her jeans torn at the knees. "Babe? What's going on?" He looked around the house and he saw nothing. Troy took her hands slowly, removing them from her face, her eyes shut tight. "Talk to me." He prodded.
"Why did Johnny come? What did he say?"
"Just that you aren't yourself." Troy saw she was staring at a spot in the next room, studying the shadow in the darkened dining room. Seeing that she was suddenly averting her eyes, he stood in front of her. "Did something happen?"
"No! Why?" She jumped at the thing she saw coming from the shadows. "I'm fine?" She inched closer to Troy.
"You're not, but, uh.. come, what happened to you. Did you get into a fight?" Looking her over.
Ky chuckled as she shook her head. Still confused by what had happened. "No, I ran someone over."
Troy spun on his heel. "What? Did you call the police?"
Ky nodded vigorously.
"Well?"
She swallowed, opened her mouth, then closed it again. Taking a deep breath as she shrugged, she wasn't sure she knew what she felt. And heard. But her eyes were tricking her. Just like one Claflin. "There was no physical body when I checked."
Troy's brows knitted together. He heard her say she hit someone. And he also heard her say there was no one she hit. He wanted to question it, but Kyouki was inching closer to him as if she were avoiding something. Troy put his arm around her. She relaxed a little, though she still kept looking around behind them. It was almost weirding him out.
Leading her to the bathroom, he left out to get a hand towel. He walked to the hall closet hearing a blood-curdling scream, dropping everything he saw Kyouki crouched on the floor, her hands over her head. "What happened?"
"Someone was looking through the window!" She sobbed, pointing to the partly open window.
Troy knew no one would be out there. He looked either way. "Ky, no one there, it's cool ok?"
There was no medium. Eyes open, they're there, eyes closed, she can feel them. "Troy, I don't know what is going on. But I am seeing people. It started when I took a drive." She told Troy of the dream she had and what she just witnessed.
Troy reassured her that everything was fine, and no one was going to hurt her while he was alive. Kyouki held her head down, eyes to the floor. The hem of a house robe and slippers she knew well stood before her. She covered the left side of her face. Unable to look up, she reached for Troy, hugging him tight.
"Obachan is here." With a sob, Ky buried her face in his shirt. As much as she wished to see the woman who raised her, this was not how she wanted it.
"The number you have dialed. Leave a message!"
Gat sighed and hung up, seeing her phone was on. She should call him back soon. Aisha looked from the tv. "She's been gone all day again?"
Then his phone rang. "Yeah."
"Yo, I think I just saw Jefa, like she got in an accident."
"What you mean?"
"Me and Carlos was coming back to the garage, and over by Foreign Power there was an accident. I wasn't sure it was Jefa at first, she was cussing people out, and caused a jam up."
Gat listens to Ramon explain what he saw. And none of it made sense. Getting the details, Gat and Aisha headed out to meet with Ramon.
"Where you at now?"
"Outside Troy's house."
When Aisha and Gat pulled up, Ramon, Ren, and Carlos were standing in the driveway.
"I have never heard someone scream like that. Gave me chills." Ren was shaking her head. It just happened a few minutes ago, and the sound was jarring. Carlos pointed out the episode the first time that it happened.
"They haven't come out?" Gat asked as they stood about looking at the house.
When Carlos called Ren after he and Ramon saw her, he had Ren trail her because they weren't that far from each other. Ren took her vespa and left quickly. Ren turned to Johnny. "Nah, Auntie wasn't in there long."
The front door opened for Troy and Li walked out. The group scrambled, ducking behind the bushes as they watched the pair go to Ky's car. Troy was looking at the hood for damages, and there were none there. Ky grabbed her phone, keys and wallet, then locked the car. Checking for missed calls saw that Gat had called several times, she called back to check in.
When his ringtone went off, all looked at him, and Ky looked around at the tall bushes on the neighbor's side of the divided driveway. The sound suddenly stopped.
Gat picked up. Seeing Ky look at where they were, he stepped out.
"You followed me?" She watched the man some feet away.
"No." He stuffed his free hand in his pocket, just watching her.
Ky went to take a step forward. The darkness crawled around his feet. Ky took a step back. "Why are you here? I told you I was going to call."
"All day?"
She looked away. Skeletal hands reaching for the man. "Something came up…" She covered her eyes.
"What?"
The feeling of fear was rising, threatening to take hold when she moved closer to Troy. Out of the pooling darkness, inching to her, bumped into him. He put an arm around her waist. Troy was oblivious to what was going on around him.
Ky took a deep breath, sighing. "It's not what you think. Like I said, there was something that came up."
"Why can't you talk to me?" Johnny watched them, he was wondering why. Why, after the bullshit Troy has done, all his lies was she here with him? Was the two of them together the night she got injured, again? He was ready to fight.
The others, out of sight, looked between each other. Aisha could hear the pain in his voice. So could Ramon. It confused Carlos and Ren as they watched the exchange.
Ky had no answer. It wasn't like she enjoyed keeping what's going on from him; it was because he would do something about it, and there wasn't anything to be done. His murder of over three hundred people still weighed on her mind. How could one man do so much damage over a friend? Granted, they are best friends, and granted, they would always have each other's backs, but she knows she doesn't want Johnny snapping. She can handle it.
"Because... I got this. We did what you wanted, I got tested. Now let me handle this, K?"
Troy asked what she got tested for. Hearing that, Gat shook his head. Ky watches Gat lower his phone and walk away into that dark cloud. A dull pain pierced in her chest, as she wanted to tell him. She shrank back, seeing the image of Mr. Sunshine with a wicked smile follow Johnny and disappear.
'It's all in my head, it's all in my head.' Kyouki repeated to herself, over and over. She went to go after him. She felt Troy tug her closer. Her mind knows nothing could ever hurt Gat.
When the pair walked back into the house, the others came from hiding. Ramon offered to take everyone home. He knew well to leave Gat be. Kyouki was another story. When Ramon saw Ren home and dropped Carlos off, he and Aisha had a long talk.
Kyouki thanked Troy for his company for the night. It plagued her dreams. Gat was there all the times he was present in her life. She planned to tell him what was going on, and she promised herself that. Just as soon as she found out what it was first.
Though, why would Kyouki need a day off, business as usual and she felt loads better. Messages from the morning came. Shaundi was at the warehouse, taking stock. There was another delivery to Steelport.
Kyouki confirmed with the woman. And Pierce checked in that they had been robbed a half an hour ago. Finding what they took, the Saints leader found it odd.
-Nothing but two boxes of dust.
And nothing else?-
-Yeah, just that.
That was the sample stuff that Shaundi and Laura had right.-
-Yeah, just that.
Fuck. Ok, head to the warehouse. I'll head there now.-
Take all of whatever drug shit out too with you.-
-Bet.
-Bobby, get Brian and come to Black Bottom, near the oil refinery, last warehouse of the right near the pier.
Already here, look behind you.-
Two Saints style taxis were pulling up.
"No fucking way!" Ky pleasantly surprised. "I put that thought on hold."
Bobby and Brian both got out grinning. "Noel said something about it a while ago, and Ramon just finished the other day. We couldn't get a hold of you. Gat said you had bad allergies and needed rest."
Ky flabbergasted, she nodded. "I'm, uh, better for right now. No, this is perfect. Take a couple cases to Steelport for Rashad and Ivory. Make sure you take two others with you. Call me or something when you make the drop." Ky snapped her fingers and four of her crew came to attention. Relaying the plan, they cleaned up, and all left.
Shaundi arrived, and Ky had to run to the store. Besides the designer stash that was stolen, Shaundi had already jotted down the recipe. "Ok, Pierce should be on his way. I'll be back shortly."
Shaundi smiled. "Aight, good to have you back. Boss." The air felt lighter. It seemed as the Boss was back to her old self.
Shaundi smiled. Ky seemed like her old self. Kyouki nodded. She felt better than she had, though she still felt off. Last night had left her with much to think about. Had she really wanted to take the time to tell and explain to Gat what was on and has been on her mind? Hell, even living with Troy, she had told the man nothing. Did she really ever take the time to truly mourn was that what she was telling herself?
No, Kyouki just took it all in and bottled it up. Too many things to take care of. All of it stored away for another day. Maybe this was the overflow of keeping it all in. Her life had been fine. One could have called it great. That was if you omitted being in a street gang for years. That alone left her with more unseen scars and bruises than the combat training ever did.
'This was spill over, had to be, just stress. No normal person sees phantoms coming from the shadows.'
Running the Saints was stressful, having a life after the accident was stressful, having a relationship that hid the Saints, before and after the accident was stressful. Now more than ever was shit trickling into everything.
Ky needed to kick Shogo in the ass. Then she needed answers as to while his goofy ass was here. Stressful. Johnny would find out eventually that she knows Shogo, after telling him she didn't. "Fuck!" Kyouki was getting one of those headaches. Now she needed to get a grip on what was real, tackle the Samedi for fucking with her head. No one fucks with her mind. Samedi has to go.
Rubbing her temples at the red light, she tried to calm herself. Kyouki needed to ease the throb that was forming. Taking deep breaths, she meditated for just a few minutes. Finally able to move, she knew what to send as a gift to her best friends. But first she needed to send a gift to her former host.
"I want it to say 'Keep my seat warm', with a heart and initial with a K." Kyouki said to the edible arrangement clerk.
"Will that be all?"
"Yes. Oh, no, one to this address, too. No note, send two, please. Yeah, that will work. They will be delivered today, yes?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Great. Thank you!" Kyouki left, heading back to the warehouse.
At the warehouse, they sat. Pierce grumbled. "I hate this standing around shit. Why can't somethin' exciting happen?" They were waiting for a second truck to get back from a drop off point from across town. It already bored Pierce with waiting.
Kyouki chuckled. "Be careful what ya wish for. Pierce, you could have stopped those who broke in today for all this so-called excitement. I swear I leave you all in charge to do a job and you seriously suck. Didn't you say you pay attention? Always alert?"
Shaundi laughed. Pierced sucked his teeth. He said that, and it was amusing because he had just gotten there to grab those boxes. Gat would normally be the watch the dog, but he was home. Kyouki let it go, cause they were covered. Kyouki went to go to the bathroom. Pierce and Shaundi just sat on the loading dock, waiting for the truck to make it. The boxes were packed and ready to go. The new 'flavors' were being put together at a different location now.
With what happened earlier today, Kyouki was done. Thing that were of potential value were in the HQ, not touched. They had all agreed that when the papers called it a Nightclub, that they would use Purgatory as that. Ky talked to her boss beforehand and asked if they would mind it being a further after-hours club. With the ok from him, Ky brought up buying Koi in the future.
It had been some hours before when one of Shaundi's crew called her up, with Ranja bringing the truck they needed back. They had informed them of a pileup and they were bumper to bumper.
So the three of them, plus a handful of the warehouse workers, cleaned the spot, ready for the next load. By noon, the crew disbanded to go get lunch. Leaving the heads to twiddle their thumbs. Wasn't too long before there was a movement from the south side of the warehouse.
The motion sensors beeped and Shaundi nudged Pierce. "Looks like you're gonna get your wish."
"What's that? Nah, might be a few birds." Pierce looked up from his phone, and Shaundi had gotten up to peek around the corner. She groaned ran to go get a gun from the weapons case they had in the office. "You had to say something didn't you Pierce?"
Offended, Pierce looked up and peeked for himself. "What I do?"
"Be careful what ya wish for… Shit, they have guns." Shaundi called Ky, who was just finishing up in the bathroom. "Boss, we have some company, and some are armed."
It could not be a smooth day. "I bet if I didn't get up to go to the bathroom, there would be no looters. Why the hell are they here, anyway? I hope like hell this will be exciting enough for you." She chastised Pierce.
Shaundi chimed in. Thinking the same thought as Ky. Today was running a bit too smoothly. "Yeah, thanks Pierce."
Thoroughly offended, he shook his head. He did nothing and yet being blamed for the sudden arrival of looters.
Kyouki was pointing out how much it seemed like Pierce was becoming a bad luck charm. "I can't take you anywhere, Pierce." When the sound of the metal doors echoed with resounding thuds of whoever was on the outside trying to get in. The noise was so loud and effective that Ky tried to shake off the sound.
It was then Shaundi had taken the first warning shot. "These guys will die to get their fix..."
Kyouki was having a hard time focusing. Between the sound of the gunfire, and the banging Kyouki's head was feeling funny. Shouting at Pierce to just leave, she needed to get the dust they had out. They couldn't close the doors, and Ky refused to harm anyone. "Get the truck, or a truck, call whoever, Bobby anyone, tell them to move their fucking asses. Shaundi and I can take care of this. We'll hold them off, go!" She shouted as she ran to the other end, where the banging on the large metal gate was to secure it.
Shoving Pierce out of the wide double doors, Shaundi closed the gate behind him. Pushing the gate down, Pierce helped from the outside Shaundi needed to barricade themselves in.
Ky came running back, and slid to a stop. "We gotta move this shit up against the gate. Wait, tie the straps to the cinderblocks, go check the other side before they get in. I secured the south gate."
When they secured the doors down, they waited. Ky did not like the ringing in her ears. It was causing a headache of a different kind. And as the seconds ticked, a crashing sound came from the window. "Oh. Shit." Both Shaundi and Kyouki said at once. Kyouki reached for the phone, dialing her supposed Lieutenant. "Pierce, I need that truck NOW!"
"I'm on it."
They fell in through the window, clamoring one on top of the other. Dragging themselves when they got to their feet, Kyouki shivered. They looked horrible, like the zombies from the game she and Carlos had played together. Shaking her head. "All in my head, all in my head, they aren't real." Even though she could see their flesh peeled from their faces and exposed skin.
"I want the dust now!" One said, seeking the boxes they had packed.
"Don't think I won't kill you!" another shouted right behind, lunging at the two women. Shaundi fired off warning shots, but that wasn't enough.
"I want the dust now!"
Another shouted, scrambling to the stack of boxes. "You think you can take my drugs?!"
"I have nothing to lose!"
"I need that dust!" another screaming in fury.
When Shaundi was hurt in the scuffle, Ky's body took over, her mind snapped, and she lunged at one, punching them in the face. She sent them flying, another she sent a foot to their stomach.
"Boss No, I'm ok!" Shaundi called.
Kyouki was sprawling the users out, Ky sent some flying into another set that came in through the window.
Shaundi had to injure the users, shoot to hurt not to kill, beanbag guns were useful for just this situation. That was Kyouki's instructions for if she was ever in a desperate situation. Calling Pierce, she watched in amazement as Ky laid out one junkie after another, dislocating arms to keep them from grabbing any of their product.
"What the hell's takin' you so long? We have these guys breaking in and climbing through a window… Oh shit. Yo!... She just jumped off one dude's chest. Hurry up!"
Pierce had just commandeered the largest truck he could find. "I'm on my way." He hung up and hauled ass to where the two women were. "Just hold out until I get there."
By the time He arrive, some of the Saints had come back to find the place closed up. But when they came in, bodies lay in haphazard ways. Blood from wounds splattered on the floor, Kyouki, panting in exhaustion, laid out on the dock.
Pierce came in to see the aftermath. "I can't believe you guys lasted this long without me..."
Kyouki was too sore to move. She had never exerted so much energy in months. "You guys load up the truck… they won't be up anytime soon." She waved a tired, sore arm in the air. "I swear… You people are getting more useless by the day."
Shaundi could hear where this conversation was going. "Come on, Pierce, can you go any slower?"
"Get off my nuts, Shaundi, I'm carrying more than you." Pierce sneered at the girl.
Shaundi chuckled. "Touchy..."
Pierce snapped right back. "Don'tcho 'touchy' me, I busted my ass bringing you this truck and now you're giving me shit..."
Shaundi put her hands on her hips. "Whatever, the boss and I were fucking up junkies..."
"Whatever, junkies don't count..."
Shaundi stood with her mouth open wide in offense. "Whaddya mean they 'don't count', they wanted to kill us."
Pierce handed Shaundi two of the heavy boxes., which she dropped on her foot. "Twitchy mother fuckers who think they're covered in bugs don't count. Now, can you just be quiet while we load this bitch up?"
Kyouki laid there and listened to them bickering. "If the two of you don't start dating after this, I'll be surprised. Now the both of you shut your shit and load the fucking truck. Or I will add both your asses to the fuckers laid out."
Ky recovered enough and had to call some Saints in to negotiate with the looters. Opening two of the boxes, the smell of the dust caused her head to hurt. "You get from us, and you will be taken care of. Next time, I will not hesitate to kill you."
Pierce trotted over. "The truck's loaded, Boss!"
With a wave of her hand, she sent him on his way. "Get the truck outta here, Pierce. I'm right behind you. I'll make sure no one touches you." It seemed too much of a coincidence for her to have had visions of these people being zombies and their shipments ready to launch that very day.
It was best she keep a lookout. She will really have to school her crew on how she needs the Saints ran.
Ky had a spot near Frat Row, the one Blake offered for her to use. Other Saints were there helping to unload it into the basement of the small house.
Pierce leaned on the wall, cracking a beer open, drinking it gladly. "Man, that shit that was close. Ya heard?" Some of the Saints chuckled in agreement.
Shaundi raised her can. "Nice driving, grandma."
Pierce's face turned sour. "I hate you."
Kyouki heard it all from the outside. It seemed as if someone had indeed followed them. Grabbing the boy dragged him into the house. "I swear. You two are utterly useless to me. Did anyone notice this one lingering outside?" She called throughout the house.
Shaundi pouted. "Hey! No! But we got what we needed here!"
The former Uni students struggled, Kyouki pushed him to the floor. "Where's Sunshine?"
Pierce and Shaundi's eyebrows both shot up.
The boy saw one of the wrapped packages of Loa salivated. "Gimme the dust!" He was struggling to get free from under Kyouki's foot.
Kyouki looked surprised and smiled. "Oh, you want this?" They handed her a brick, dangling it in front of the boy like a treat for a dog. "Fine." She threw it hard in his face. "Where is Mr. Sunshine? Cause if I ask you again, it will not be a simple Loa brick to your face."
Holding his nose, blood trickled out, Kyouki rolled her eyes, as it already fed her up with how the day went. "What does it matter? You're gonna kill me anyway?" he spat.
Kyouki did not notice the eyes on her from Shaundi and Pierce. They were bewildered. "I'm in no rush..." she shrugged, taking a bat from the table closest to her. She squared up, straddling the boy's chest. Stepping back, she pressed her heels into his shoulders, then started tapping the side of his head with the bat to make sure she had the perfect line up. Pierce and Shaundi looked mortified.
"Kids take note. Gat is brutal. While I, on the other hand, am much more stylish. Ask him and he'll agree." Kyouki swung back, letting the bat drop gently before taking aim again. Hearing the kid cry out, she smiled. "~I'm waiting~" she sang.
Scared, and rightly so, the kid dumped information quickly just as the last swing he saw would not come to a stop. "He hangs out at the old meat packing plant." A breeze of words fell from his lips. As the bat whizzed past his nose, with a thought of pain impact, the boy passed out.
"A homer! And the crowd goes wild! See, was that so hard? Clean this up." Ky sighed. Tossing the bat to someone else that stood cringing in the room.
"A warehouse full of mangled bodies has raised plenty of questions and no answers. Witnesses confess to hearing gunshots coming from inside the building while purple clad individuals, presumably the Third Street they have seen recently Saints, scrambled to fill a nearby truck with packages while crazed drug addicts assaulted them. One witness described an individual fitting the description of the Saint's leader ruthlessly gunning down people in cold blood as the truck drove away. When Mayor Monica Hughes was asked about this unfortunate ordeal, she had this to say… THE HOMELESS SHOULD BE EUTHANIZED!"
Kyouki sat with Aisha and Gat. "Who says that? That was past rude. I might have to have a talk with her."
"How are you feeling?" Gat asked.
"Meh."
Aisha chuckled. Gat sat between both women as they watched the news. The six o'clock news was once again wrong. Kyouki's phone rang. Her Aunt Mimi was on the other end. "Yes Aunty, I know Aunty. I am Aunty. No. You all have everything? Yeah, I'll call her now. Love you too."
"Hey Trace, what's up?" Kyouki asked once her cousin picked up.
