Chapter 15- Jake's Investigation

Carolyn knocked on the door to Sarah's room at the Metro Court the next day. When Sarah answered she was still in her nightgown with her hair a mess.

"Hi Sarah," Carolyn said. "Can I come in?"

Sarah didn't answer, but gestured for her to come in.

"I noticed you called in today, which you should have. But I'm still confused. You had a daughter?"

Sarah nodded. "I didn't tell anyone."

"Okay, can you tell me about her now?"

"I wasn't a good mother. I didn't even tell her father. I left Port Charles and had her in California."

"Who was her father?" Carolyn asked.

"Lucky Spencer."

Carolyn squinted. "That's Aiden's father."

"Yeah."

"Okay, so what happened in California?"

"She was born and I raised her until she was ten," Sarah said.

"What happened when she was ten?"

She swallowed hard. "I started dating Roy Deluca. He was a mobster."

Carolyn frowned. "Oh."

"As you can imagine, things weren't safe. So, I gave her to the state."

"I see."

"I contacted Lily last year. We only saw each other about a handful of times, but she came to Port Charles. So, I came to find her. And now… now…." She burst into tears. "She's dead."

Carolyn wrapped her arms around her. "I'm so sorry."

"I didn't even know she had a baby."

Carolyn nodded. "Scarlett is very sweet. I didn't even know she was my great-grandchild. Or Lily…."

Sarah sniffled and pulled away. "I didn't have the chance to make it up to Lily, but I'm going to with Scarlett."

Elizabeth sat on the stool at Kelly's while she waited for her latte. Jake was finally going to be released that day, but she couldn't stop worrying about him going to look for Charlotte. She didn't want him to get hurt again, or even worse.

Carly handed her the latte and she turned to leave when Molly walked in pushing a baby in a stroller.

"Oh, hi Molly." She smiled. "Who's this?"

"Hi Elizabeth. This is Scarlett."

She bent over a little. "Hello, Scarlett."

"TJ and I are fostering her right now. We're hoping to adopt her."

"Well, Scarlett, TJ and Molly will make wonderful parents. You are very blessed to have them."

Molly blushed a little. "I think we're the blessed ones."

"I'm happy for you guys," Elizabeth said. "Well, I should get to the hospital now. Enjoy your day."

"Hi Michael," Willow said when she opened the door at the gatehouse.

"Hey," he said. "Are the kids ready to go?"

"Wiley's just upstairs, but yes, they're ready and excited to spend time with their dad."

Amelia was sitting on the floor with her toys and there were several boxes and suitcases around the living room.

Michael raised an eyebrow. "Are you going somewhere?"

"Daddy!" Wiley ran down the stairs and jumped in his arms.

"Hey buddy."

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"We're moving to a new place with Grandma Nina!"

All the colour drained from Michael's face and he turned to Willow.

When Elizebeth arrived at the hospital, Jake was already dressed.

"Hey Mom."

"Hey, bud. Are you all set to go?"

He nodded and grabbed his bag.

"How are you feeling today?" She hugged him.

"Good. I'm glad to get out of here."

They headed down the hallway.

"Great. I thought we could go out for dinner with Aiden, Finn, and Violet tonight."

"Maybe. I was hoping to start investigating right away."

She bit her lip. "You don't think we should let the police handle this?"

Jake sighed as they hopped on the elevator. "I should've been able to fight off those men. I couldn't protect Charlotte."

"Oh, buddy, those were strong men and you were outnumbered. It wasn't your fault."

"I guess. But I still want to find her."

"Let's get you back home."

Georgie had been feeling better after her flu bug and went to school that day. She couldn't pay much attention in class though because her grandma and mom's voices kept playing in her head.

After school, she didn't say much to her family in the car. Once they reached home, she went straight to her room and jumped on the computer.

Georgie loved being on the computer. Maps and floor plans were her specialty, but her dad also taught her how to hack a computer.

She pulled up the program and looked at the floor plan of her school that she started last week.

After a half hour, she heard noises coming from the next room. She groaned and ran across the hall, pounding on James' door.

"Hi sissy." James opened the door, then sat back on the floor with Bailey Lou where they were stacking wooden blocks and knocking them over.

"Goe-gee!" Bailey smiled. "Play with us."

Georgie crossed her arms and stared at them.

Bailey giggled and clapped her hands when she kicked her tower over.

"Stop being so loud!" Georgie said. "I'm on the computer. Why are you always so destructive, Bailey?"

"We're just playing," James said.

Bailey handed Georgie a block, then sat down and started building again.

"Just playing?" Georgie asked. "Then why do all your blocks keep ending up in my clothes?"

"It a present," Bailey said.

"You're the one putting them in my dresser, Bailey?"

She nodded, smiling.

"I tried to put my shirt on this morning and didn't know there was a block inside it," Georgie said. "It dropped on my foot! Those blocks are heavy."

Bailey handed her another block.

"Stop yelling, Georgie," James said.

"I'll yell if I want to yell. Stop being such a suck up, James."

"What's going on in here?" Maxie appeared in the doorway. "Georgie, why are you yelling?"

"Because James and Bailey Lou are disturbing me."

"We're just playing," James said again.

"I'm trying to make a floor plan," Georgie said. "And they're being super loud.

"Can't you guys play a quieter game?" Maxie asked.

"No," Bailey said.

"And Bailey Lou admitted to putting these blocks in my dresser," Georgie said. "One dropped on my foot this morning!"

Maxie sighed. "Okay, I'll clean them up. Is your foot okay?"

Georgie scoffed. "Aren't you going to punish her?"

"No. I doubt she meant any harm."

Bailey handed yet another block to Georgie. "It a present."

"Mommy, I'll help clean them," James said.

Maxie ran her hand through his hair. "That's okay, buddy. I think Georgie and I can handle it."

"You always make me do everything," Georgie said. "You always let Bailey Lou get away with everything and you never make James do anything."

"That's not true," Maxie said. "You only have more responsibility because you're older. And I really don't think you want your brother and sister to go through your dresser."

"Bailey already has."

"All right, maybe Bailey can get them out of your bottom drawers, but the rest she'd have to climb up to reach so we'll do those. Come on, let's go."

"Don't bother. I'll do it myself. Just play with James and Bailey Lou!" She dropped the blocks, stomped across the hall, and slammed the door.

Michael arrived at Kelly's with Wiley and pushed Amelia in the stroller. They found Carly behind the counter.

"Grandma Carly!"

Carly beamed and came around to hug Wiley. "Hi Wiley! How are you?"

"Good. We're moving."

She raised an eyebrow. "You are?"

"Yep!"

"Without me." Michael's face went rigid. "And you'll never guess who they're moving with."

"Who?" Carly asked.

Wiley grinned. "Grandma Nina!"

Carly's eyes widened, her lips went thin, and her face paled.

Georgie rested her chin in her hand, trying to keep her eyes open, when she tried to continue her project on the computer. It was past her bedtime, so she tried to keep quiet so her mom wouldn't catch her awake.

Her eyes moved down to her phone when it rang. "Hello?"

"Hi, Georgie? This is Jake Spencer. Danny's brother. We went trick-or-treating together."

"Hi…."

"So, I don't know if you've heard, but Charlotte was kidnapped," Jake said. "I know the cops are looking, but I'm really worried about her. I want to form my own investigation."

"That sounds dangerous," Georgie said.

"Georgie!" Maxie knocked on the door. "I can hear you. No phone calls when you're supposed to be sleeping."

Georgie ignored her.

Jake sighed. "It could be dangerous, yeah. So, I understand if you say no. But Danny told me you're really good with computers. Like really good. Just like your dad."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Well, I want you to see if there's any surveillance footage down at the docks," Jake said. "And I didn't know if you'd know a way to find Victor Cassadine. Whether through airlines or whatnot. Though if he did take her on a plane, I suppose it would be one of his private ones."

"Georgie!" Maxie said. "I can still hear you."

"Yeah sure, I can do that," Georgie said.

"Thanks, Georgie."
