Hey guys! RGQC back here with a new year and new chapter for all of you! First of all, happy new year! Nevertheless, let's just hope that this year would be (slightly) better than last year, but one can hope yea? Anyways, this is the mission in which we get siege tanks! And also, all sorts of protoss mechs and aircraft. Hopefully I can pull it off because some of these airships are FUCKING MASSIVE! LIKE HOW IN THE HELL AM I GONNA ADD THEM IN?!
Eh, I'll find a way.
Anyways. Let's move on to comments that I feel that I need to address before we continue, yes?
Duncanquan007: Yea, I had a look at it and I have to both laugh and cry about it. Like the size of Carriers and void rays. Oh, and the Colossus as well. Lmao. How am I going to pull it off?
Ssgtsplatter: *Chuckles* I'll let your imagination run free cos no spoilers for my plans. Yea, it would be an entirely new story that has continuity from the main story. Of course, I can only start to work on it once Wings is done. Then I'll make a separate story that spits off.
Yolo27th: Yea. After all, it would be based on my gameplay and I did that mission. So don't worry about it.
Guest: Well, you do have a point but I think I manage to find a way to do it. It mostly involves making the maps much larger than they truly are and some other stuff like distance and what not.
RandomGuest: And now I'm back and better then ever! I think…
Dakzillaman: Ah yes that is true. Siege tanks are awesome! And don't worry, Nora would get more stuff in the future if you're concerned about that.
triscythe59: And happy new year to you as well!
And with that, we're done with the comments. Let the digging commence!
Disclaimer. I do not own RWBY or StarCraft. All of these belong to their respective owners: Rooster Teeth, StarCraft 2 belongs to Blizzard Entertainment. I only own my OC in this story.
The Dig
"So whatcha guys want to do now?" Yang then asked her team as they all left the theatre room with the others heading off to their direction in RGQC's realm.
"How about RG's collection room, there might be something interesting in there." Pyrrha then offered a suggestion as Jaune supported it.
"That sounds like a great idea, Pyrrha." Jaune placed his hand on Pyrrha's shoulder as she noticeably blushed. But he remained oblivious to it. As always. "What about you guys? Want to come along with me and Pyrrha?" Jaune then asked his fellow students.
"Yea! I wanna see all the weapons!" Ruby yelled out as she started running off somewhere before coming to a complete stop. "Uh, where is it exactly?" Ruby then asked a question as Weiss sighs and facepalms.
"Heard you kids are planning to go to RGQC's collection." A voice could be heard behind them as all the youngsters turned to see Torchwick and Neo walking towards them.
"And we know where it is, there's much to explore in it." Neo smugly stated as Yang could be seen giving death glares at the midget.
"We don't need help from criminals. We can do it just fine without you." Weiss bluntly stated as Torchwick rolled his eyes.
"Cut it ice queen." Torchwick scoffed as Weiss began to sputter in frustration at everyone calling her an ice queen. "Look, we get that you all hate us rather dashing looking criminals and all but we're going to the same place. Besides, you'll need this if you wish to look at the finer details of the artefacts or items in his collection." Torchwick explained as he pulled out a tablet hidden in his cloak.
"Oh, and we know where all the interesting stuff is. Besides, we can't steal those items to begin with. We tried." Neo added with a sheepish smile.
There was a pregnant pause as all the students processed it before relenting with a collective sigh, they're right, both Neo and Torchwick had a glimpse of RGQC's collection and knew much of it compared to them going in blind.
"I wonder what sort of items he has." Cinder, who was behind the group hummed as Emerald and Mercury stood beside her. While it was unnoticed by everyone as they were all looking at Cinder, Torchwick's face paled slightly before regaining his colour.
"All sorts of stuff that you could ever think of." Torchwick then explained as Cinder rubbed her chin with curiosity. "Can you take us there Torchwick?" Cinder then responded back quietly. What sort of powerful artifacts does the realm lord hold? And what secrets can she use to help her master…
"Yea. Right. Come on kiddos! Let uncle Torchwick and Neo guide you all there!" Torchwick responded back in a deadpanned tone before switching into an almost mocking tone as he and Neo walked off. Neo had to cover her mouth as she was about to laugh out loudly as many of the students could only grumble out as they couldn't do anything to Torchwick and Neo due to RGQC's rules, so they all followed the criminal towards their host collection.
Sometime later…
"Welcome all of you people to RGQC's collection of all sorts of items! From guns to curious stones, to things that clearly defy any sort of logic like magic or that kind of nonsense!" Torchwick announced as he pushed a rather large door that leads to RGQC's collection open.
"Cool!" Ruby could only cry out with fascination as they all walked into the main lobby as multiple androids could be seen guarding the place with rifles or pistols in their hands, some even have tasers in their hands. The hall itself was divided up into many different sectors of smaller doors that lead to different parts of RGQC's collection such as, Weapons, record list, magic, technology. World history and many, many others. To say the least, everyone was in awe of RGQC's wide selection of collections.
Torchwick just chuckled. "Go crazy kids." Torchwick then walked off with Neo as everyone formed small groups and walked off as well. As expected, Ruby immediately ran off towards the weapons sector and her team and sister team chased after her. Coco and her team headed off towards the clothing sector because she said so. Sun's team went off to visit the vehicular sector. While they were not alone, Penny went off to see the robotics sector with Pietro as the idea of artificial intelligence is intriguing to both of them. As for Cinder and her gang? They began to explore the lobby before coming across a unique sector different from the others.
This one had an unusual number of android guards outside the door itself as if they were guarding to prevent anyone from entering the sector. Even more interesting was that it was labelled near the door.
"Dangerous collection inside! Do not enter unless supervised by realm lord! Failure to comply would result in a pacification process by QAI!"
"Interesting… I wonder what's inside…" Cinder hummed to herself before turning away with her followers. After all, she doesn't want to raise suspicion but she'll leave it in the back of her mind about it. Might be something worth of interest in there if the realm lord is so concerned about hiding it by putting it in a corner, or without overseeing from him personally. Might as well get some answers from the realm lord later.
Some time had passed and everyone came back to the theatre room only to see RGQC on his chair once again reading a book but this time, his cat ears had been replaced with fox ears.
"Hey RGQC! New look?" Jaune was the first one to notice RGQC's new look.
"Hmm? Oh, the ears? Yea, got bored again and decided to change it up again. So," RGQC then closed his book before standing up. "How was your break? I know that the students and several others went to see my collection, found anything of interest to you?" RGQC then asks as Ruby immediately shoots her hand up.
"Oh! Oh! Me! Me! We saw so many different weapons in your collection! TheressomanyofthemandI- MPHH!" Ruby's voice started to become faster and faster from the sheer excitement of seeing so many weapons and potential designs to improve Crescent Rose, but her fast rambling was stopped when her sister covered her mouth with her hand.
"Yea, in short RGQC, she found your weapons collection."
"Ah, that explains it." RGQC hummed.
"He has one?" Summer then asked in an almost childlike way as Ruby broke out from Yang before running towards her mother with her scroll in hand. "Yea I got tons of it on my scroll!" Ruby yelled out as Ironwood and Winter looked intrigued about it.
"Rounds that are armour piercing before exploding? That's… ingenious. Why didn't we come up with that?" Summer then smiled as Ruby went off showing the rest of what she had found.
"Anyone else found things of interest?" RGQC then asked.
"Well… Coco found your clothing collection and we had to stop her from going overboard." Velvet then mumbled out before glancing at Coco who was scrolling through her phone at all the clothes she managed to take a photo of. While at the same time, the rest of the team nodded in agreement.
"Why do you even have a clothes collection?" Emerald then asked as she tilted her head in confusion.
"Why not?" RGQC countered. "When you live for two millennia, you need something to do or else you're gonna go insane. Besides, with how the multiverse works, there are infinite possibilities of things happening. That also includes the choice of clothing as I'm sure our resident fashionista can confirm." The realm lord continues before looking at Coco.
"Oh yes I can confirm that!" Coco confirmed it.
"Anything else?" RGQC then asked only to get a pregnant pause before Cinder spoke up.
"I do RGQC, while we were exploring your collection, we came across a sector that contains dangerous collections that have obvious warnings on it. Why do you have it?" She asked as RGQC internally scowled.
"Of course you're the one to find it." RGQC bitterly thought to himself as he began explaining.
"There's a sector that, as it says, contains dangerous items that I've collected. Those items are left there for a reason. As even if they're walled off, they can exert some dangerous… influence on those in there without protection. And also because, if not handled correctly, they could disrupt my realm or you may accidentally alert some daemons or void entities to you. And we do not want that to happen anytime soon."
"Then why have them to begin with?" Ironwood then pointed out as several others nodded.
"Look, I've spent decades looking for those items and I'm not letting them go just because they're dangerous, and also some of them belong to some… dangerous reality breaking beings that needed it to fulfil their plans. I'm basically crippling them in a way." RGQC then answered as his ears twitched slightly.
"Besides that, we should begin. QAI take it away." RGQC commanded as he then sat back down.
[Understood.] QAI responded back to his master as the screen darkens.
"Oh yea, I think some of you will enjoy this mission. It's gonna be a blast." RGQC gave a grin.
The ruins of Tarsonis have given up their prize, but Jim and his crew still need to find out why the Dominion was hunting a wrecked old Confederate adjutant so fervently.
Hyperion Bridge
11:23 Shipboard Time
The screen then lights up to show Matt talking to Raynor on the bridge with his arms to his back. "Sir, that adjutant we recovered is down in the lab. She's all powered up." Matt reported as Raynor thanked him as he headed off.
"Thanks Matt." And the screen then changes to show Raynor in the lab staring at the Confederate adjutant which doesn't look that pretty. Its design could be summarised as a bunch of wires attached all over a feminine looking chassis that lacked arms or legs. Said wires are mainly around the head, back as well as limbs of it. It is also clear that age didn't do much of the machine as its 'body' is clearly old and dirty. As of yet, it's clearly deactivated based on it not moving as well as it looking downwards.
"Now that we got a better look at it, why did they give adjutants a feminine body?" Pietro stated as RGQC hummed."
"QAI?" He then asked
[Understood. In the past, adjutants were cybernetic in nature, possessing organic components. In contrast, modern adjutants are entirely synthetic. While adjutants are designed to be appealing to the Terran eye, they're bereft of social skills; akin to a Terran with Asperges. They were intentionally designed to fall into the uncanny valley.]
"In a way," RGQC then took over. "They were meant to be 'appealing to Terrans eyes.' As I'm sure you can tell, giving a robot a very humanoid look does not change the fact that it generates a feeling of unease to anyone that looks at it. Of course, they weren't designed to be looked at after all. Only to help the Terrans in running their society."
"Yea… I think we can tell. Just looking at them makes me feel agitated." Qrow added in as everyone nodded.
"Talk to me, you old piece of junk. What do you know?" Raynor then demanded as the Confederate adjutant activated as its eyes flickered on before it began moving and began speaking. At the same time, it makes a mechanical hum with whirs every time it moves.
"User identified. Raynor. James. Ex-marshal, Mar Sara colony. Joined. Sons of Korhal terrorist group. Status. Criminal."
"So it recognizes him. I sincerely doubt he's going to get anything out of it." Ironwood observed as Winter nodded."
"That is most likely the case sir since this adjutant recognized him as a criminal." Winter added in.
"Enough about me, darlin'. What else you got locked up in that synthetic head of yours?" Raynor then questioned it further as adjutant states.
"User status. Criminal. Access denied." Raynor could only frown as he accepted that challenge.
"Playin' hard to get, huh? We'll see about that." Raynor states as he begins to walk off as the screen darkens.
Hyperion Cantina
21 Minutes Later
"And he's back at the bar. Had to admit, the music's getting to me." Tai admitted.
"Well, either that or he's back on the bridge talking to Matt." Summer then added in as she continued looking at all the pictures of weapons in Ruby's phone as well as a detailed description of what and how they work.
The screen then lights up to show Raynor having a chat with his partner Tychus over some of the deeds both of them did in the past.
"Robbing a train again get ya' feelin' nostalgic?"
"Damn straight. We musta hit the Shale Express a dozen times back in the day." Tychus then let out a chuckle with a smile before continuing on. "Ah, that caper never got old."
"I guess partners are partners. Even if they were robbing trains." Weiss muttered as Ruby then suddenly hugged her.
"Yea but compared to them, we're partners to help those who need it!"
Weiss could only let out a sigh before grumbling. "Yes… I suppose we are. Now let me go already!" She proceeded to shout out as Ruby let out a giggle as she let Weiss go.
"Almost got us killed when they smartened up and started using outriders to chase us." Raynor then stated as Tychus continued.
"Never was a man of 'em could keep up with you on a Vulture, Jimmy. Just added to the fun. How the hell you got a job as marshal after all that I'll never know." Tychus could only wonder how Raynor became a marshal as both men looked up as the UNN news network started to play.
This is UNN with Donny Vermillion - Zerg sightings all over Terran Dominion - Interplanetary shipping at a standstill -Rebel Jim Raynor continues campaign of terror - 1st and 2nd fleets combining protect core worlds -
"You know, I have a feeling all these reports may give us hints as to what is going to happen in the future in a way." Neptune then stated as he drank some coffee.
"You mean that the news would foreshadow the missions that Raynor would do in the future?" Sun then questioned his partner."
"He might be right though, several of these reports that we've watched in the past actually happened." Blake then supported Neptune's theory.
"You mean like that other time the news says that a plague is on the loose and it turns out to be a Zerg virus Blake?" Kali then jumped into the conversation.
"Yea. Something like that mom…" Blake then mumbled with a blush on her face from embarrassment.
"Ladies and gentlemen, each night I bring you the news in the most fair and balanced manner possible. But tonight I have a commentary." Donny then appeared on screen as he began to talk.
"Some have asked me what the difference is between our leader, Emperor Mengsk, and the traitor Jim Raynor. They point out that Mengsk rebelled against the government of his youth, and came to power through the use of violence and subversion. Why is it wrong for Jim Raynor to rebel in similar fashion?" Donny then questioned it before continuing on.
"There is a difference. When Emperor Mengsk began his revolution, there was no threat hanging over humanity. James Raynor is waging his revolution while we are at war with two alien races."
"I sense a bias in there somewhere…" Yang then sarcastically commented.
"I'm pretty sure he is biased in his opinion, friend Yang." Penny then commented as the sarcasm went by her head. Unknown to her, several of her friends gave her bizarre expressions on their faces.
"I think Penny doesn't understand sarcasm." Ruby then pointed out.
"Yea, we're aware of it." Pyrrha then whispered next.
"Should we tell her about it?" Jaune was next to speak.
"After this mission I suppose." Ren then hummed.
"James Raynor, have you no conscience? Shouldn't you fall in line, putting your petty complaints aside as we struggle for humanity's very survival against this alien menace?" Donny then went onto a biased rant about it before the camera then cuts to Raynor who doesn't look fazed in the slightest.
"Everyone's a critic…" Raynor just muttered out as several of the audience laughed at Raynor's sarcasm.
"Yup Jimmy boy, everyone's a critic." Qrow copied what Raynor had said before turning his gaze on Ironwood.
And with that, Raynor stood up and left the cantina, but as he walked off, the camera then pans towards Tosh who was watching everyone from above then muttered out in amusement.
"Robbin' trains? We'll make a pirate out of you yet, Mister Raynor" Tosh then let out a chuckle as the screen darkens.
"Ever the cryptic and mysterious person huh?" Mercury then says his thoughts.
"Yea. I still wonder about his intentions…" Emerald then spoke next.
"Or whether they can trust him." Cinder then mumbled.
The screen then lights up to show Raynor in the armoury room alongside Swann who seemed dismissive. At first. "Yeah yeah, good old days, robbin' trains, yadda yadda, bang bang." Swann paused for a while before enthusiastically finishing off what he wanted to say. "I'm making Diamondbacks!"
"I want them too!" Ruby then proceeded to shout out her thoughts.
Raynor could be seen smiling at Swann's antics before browsing and purchasing two upgrades that improve the missile turrets. Raynor then walked off and ended up in the Laboratory.
"Ok, for those curious, Raynor just bought two upgrades to improve his anti-air, or AA for short. One of them basically reinforces the missile turret's armour by retrofitting it with a new titanium housing which is tougher and increases survivability significantly, this allows the missile turret to tank in more damage before it falls apart. The other upgrade that Raynor bought is called hellstorm batteries." RGQC explained before he took a pause as several of the audience could be seen scribbling it down. Or in Penny's case, recording it down.
"This upgrade grants the missile turret a secondary attack that is retrofitted into the missile turret itself. Now occasionally, the missile turret will unleash several smaller but numerous missiles that accompany the standard missile attack and saturate the target area on impact. This basically allows it to do splash damage against anything that is flying basically." RGQC then finishes his explanation before summoning a cup of water and drinking it in one go.
"Why would he need that upgrade specifically? Unless he's going on a mission that would deal with a lot of air." Ironwood then stated as the realm lord just hummed.
"Well... you see… Raynor doesn't really have good anti-air. Did you all notice that? He had to use marines to shoot air, which is not effective on their own. Maybe except anything against smaller and lighter aircraft. But against heavy aircraft or capital ships like the Hyperion, Raynor is going to have trouble. Thus, I believe that he's just being sure that he can against anything that is air."
"Fair enough." Ironwood conceded.
"I must say, the idea of using numerous missiles to saturate a target area would be quite beneficial against any aerial Grimm assaults." Pietro then hummed.
"That is the true father. But I think we need to find a way to make those missiles economically viable, or each volley is going to cost a lot of Lien." Penny then stated as Pietro, Winter and Ironwood nodded.
Raynor then could be seen in the Laboratory as Ariel noticed that the last mission bothered him. "Jim, let me in. What really happened on Tarsonis? Whatever it was, I can see it tearing you up inside." Ariel stated as Raynor a hesitant response.
"Yea must be rough if the guy you're originally working with turns out to be a monster pretending to be an angel." Neptune then said out loud.
"Yea…"
"Tarsonis... that's where it all went down. Mengsk stole a psi-emitter from the Confederacy and planted it there. He knew that it'd attract the Zerg and…" Raynor cut himself off with a short pause before continuing.
"Our revolution began that day - the day Mengsk murdered a whole planet and called it justice." Raynor spat it out as Ariel could only respond with horror.
"My God. Billions of innocent people. That's...that's just...monstrous. No wonder you hate him so much."
"And he gets praised as the hero from his work. Talk about having good publicity." Torchwick muttered.
"That I do…" Raynor quietly responded back as he walked off. While he was doing that, the Confederate adjutant could be heard asking for access codes before it devolved into malfunctions and unintelligible gibberish that none of the audience could decipher. Not even Penny.
"Uhhh what? Did anyone get that?" Yang then asked only to get various replies of no.
Sooner than later, Raynor arrived back onto the bridge as Matt could be seen gazing upon the map. Matt then looked at his commander as he began to give his report. "I've been looking for an encryption expert so we can access the adjutant we recovered. No luck so far." He admitted that Raynor offered an idea.
"Colonel Orlan at Deadman's Port can crack anything... Haven't been back there in awhile." Raynor gave a pause as he smiled. "Say, didn't you end up gettin' married last time we were there?"
"Wait what?! Matt's married?! Weiss stated as RGQC could be seen trying his best to not laugh.
"Wait, who did Matt married to cause Raynor to give a smile like that?" Tai then asked as pretty much everyone shrugs.
"Well… It could be because their marriage could have been funny or awkward." Summer then offered her possible idea as to why.
Matt however, didn't find it funny in the slightest. "I told you before - If I knew what the prize was, I never woulda' joined that card game!"
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Torchwick then started sniggering as well as Neo as some of the adults understood what Matt meant and joined in. "You're telling me, Matt got married to someone else all because he won a card game?!" Torchwick then sniggered as RGQC confirmed.
"Yup. All because he won a poker game back when they were at Deadman's Port, he's now married to someone who he really, REALLY wants to be away from. Best part, he didn't bother to stay in touch with her!" RGQC ended before he and several others began to laugh. Though others pitied him as it was obvious that Matt really doesn't want to accidentally get married to that woman.
Though several of the students could only wonder how bad was this woman that Matt really wants to stay away from her.
Oh, they have no idea...
Raynor, who was still smiling continued on teasing his second. "There's just something about a lovers' reunion that chokes me up."
Matt then let out an Irritated sigh in response before both of them looked at the map. "Besides that sir, where are we heading next?" Matt then asks as he brings up a map to reveal two new planets to visit, Deadman's Port as well as another planet called Xil.
"Ohh… New locations." Penny stated that Mercury was next.
"Ok, who calls a planet Xil? It doesn't make any sense."
"You ask me." RGQC countered almost sarcastically. "But really, this is not the dumbest name for a planet I've seen. You should have seen what we called one of our planets back from where I was."
"And it is?" Sun then asked as RGQC gave a smirk before answering.
"Uranus."
That alone causes many of the audience to start to laugh out loud at how ridiculous that name alone was. Especially Yang and Nora who were dying on the floor from laughter. Others respond by giggling or chuckling at the name while a minority of them could only sigh.
"Who gave that name?!" Yang wheezed as Jaune and Pyrrha could be seen leaning on each other for support.
"People who don't know how to name things. And it resulted in a ton of butt jokes." RGQC added in as the laughter continued.
Weiss on the other hand could only sigh. "Ugh. How childish."
"Could be worse. I saw a planet called Big Buttistan." RGQC let out a chuckle as the laughter restarted. (Thanks, No Man's Sky)
"You're kidding right?" Ironwood asked.
"I wish I was." RGQC gave a grin as he coughed into his hand.
"Then there's another one called 'Don't go here' by explorers. No kidding."
"There must be a reason for calling a planet that." Ozpin then spoke out as RGQC nodded.
"Apparently that planet is a death world sooo… perhaps that's justified?" RGQC then shrugged. "Anyways, we should resume."
Raynor then selected the planet of Xil which was obviously a wasteland planet as his partner, Tychus appeared on screen to give a briefing. "Moebius wants us to go after another artifact on some dead world called Xil." Tychus says that before taking a short pause.
Collecting another artifact? Well, the last time they had to deal with those Tal'darim guys." Ren then spoke.
"Time for Jimmy boy to get more of those glowly rocks from those blue bois!" Nora then proceeded to yell out.
"Not wrong to say but…" RGQC raised his hand up" they're not glowing rocks… Nor are the protoss blue bois…"
"Nope! I prefer my description!"
"Ehh… You do you I guess." RGQC just lowers his hand.
"Apparently they sent in a specialist team - but they lost contact with 'em two days ago."
"Must be those Tal'darim who wiped them out." Weiss stated it.
"Clearly, based on the previous artifact mission, they are extreme in their views. They are a likely candidate for the Specialist team's disappearance." Winter then added in as Tychus continued.
"Their bad luck, I guess. Figure we'll get hazard pay for this one…" Tychus says as Matt looks at Raynor who shrugs in response.
"Well, dunno bout you but let's go see what happen to them. Set a course to Xil." Raynor commanded as Matt nodded back.
"Yes sir." And with that, the screen darkens.
"Ok guys! We are going to see some things that I'm very sure would earn your interest. Who likes to see explosions and giant lasers?" RGQC stood up and asked as his ears twitched.
"Big booms?" Nora then asked as her eyes widened much to Ren's concern.
"Yes Nora. Big booms." And with that Nora began to cackle maliciously at the chance to see big booms. Much to the concern of everyone as to what RGQC meant.
"What was that about giant lasers?" Pyrrha then asked.
"Oh, you'll see…" RGQC vaguely stated as the screen brightens up.
The screen then starts up to show both Raynor and Tychus looking at the screen that shows various alien ruins of sorts as Tychus explained.
"So here's the deal. This place is a morgue. Whatever used to live in these ruins up an' died millions of years ago."
"But clearly, whoever silenced the specialist team must be present in this wasteland." Glynda then states as everyone nodded in agreement. It was then that Ozpin spoke.
"I must say. Oobleck would no doubt be curious as to the history of whatever used to be here." Ozpin then took a sip of his coco.
"Good thing he isn't here then. I'd prefer not to listen to him rambling on." Yang mumbled.
"Before they went missin', the Moebius team reported artifact radiation emanating from that big ol' hunk o'rock over yonder." Tychus explained as the scene showed a massive temple that dwarfs anything the audience had ever seen before.
"That's a big temple." Coco pointed out as she took a sip of watermelon juice.
"A really big temple." Velvet then added in.
"How are they going to get in?" Ruby then asked as RGQC smirked.
"Remember the laser I mentioned?
"Yea?"
"To get into a big temple, bring in a big laser gun." The realm lord just grinned as he pointed at the screen.
"They brought a big damn laser drill to burn their way in." Tychus finished what he was saying as the screen then cuts to show a massive Terran structure surrounded by other abandoned Terran buildings that seemed to be barren of life.
When the audience saw it, all of their mouths were wide open. The bloody thing is much larger than the command centre or any Terran buildings! In fact, the size alone got both Ruby and Nora excited at the implications of such structure.
"Big gun!" Nora suddenly squealed.
"Wait till you see it working." RGQC just smiled as that got both Ruby and Nora even more excited, much to the concern of their respective team as Ironwood could be seen rubbing his chin with interest.
"Laser drill? That thing's a monster. If the Moebius team had access to that kinda hardware…" Raynor then stated his worry before he continued.
"I hate to think about what could have wiped 'em out."
The screen then pans to Tychus as he states. "Reckon we'll find out soon enough, partner." And with that, the screen darkens.
"I think this is a defensive mission based on the fact that Raynor and his crew have to defend that drill as it digs." Jaune then made an observation as Pyrrha nodded.
"I do think so as well, but what does RGQC mean that we would see explosions?"
"I'm not sure." Ren muttered as Nora got all excited.
"Show me the big booms!" She yelled out before stuffing her face with pancakes which she called in.
The screen then lights up to show Raynor's dropship arriving in the deserted wasteland before coming into a stop as a marauder, four marines and two medics could be seen jumping out of the dropship before landing on the ground with an audible thud.
Raynor then appeared on screen to give his men a warning. "Watch your corners, boys. We don't know who cleaned this place out."
Raynor's squad could only look around to see bones of some dead species as well as obvious ruins of Terran bunkers. "Let's move out boys." One of the marines' orders as all of them move one with their weapons hot.
"Talk about dead land, and those look like Terran bunker ruins." Blake pointed out as several others nodded in agreement."
"Means whatever happened to the previous crew were wiped out hard." Yang added in.
As all of them slowly walked through the wastelands, they finally found contact, and it isn't the good kind of contact as they encountered a protoss patrol group.
"More Terran thieves!" One of the Zealots shouted out which alerted everyone else.
"Contact! Contact!" One of the marines screamed.
"Open fire!" The marauder shouted as he and the marines began to fire upon the protoss patrol. As Raynor's squad opened fire on the Tal'darim patrol, the main Tal'darim Executor made himself known on screen.
"More Terran thieves? The mysteries of this place are forbidden! You will pay for your transgression with your lives!" He gave his threat as one of the Zealots slashed through one of the marine's ballistic shields before getting a punisher grenade to the face followed by a bayonet to the gut as the grenade shattered the shield.
"They have bayonets in their rifles?" Ironwood raised an eyebrow as RGQC nodded.
"Yup, when you're dealing with a Zerg that can get close or protoss Zealots, having a backup bayonet would be helpful should they get close."
"Perhaps we should retrofit our Atlesian knights to have a bayonet of sorts. It would allow them to deal with anyone that gets close." Ironwood hummed.
"That would be wise indeed since they are obviously struggling against anything close." Winter came to the same conclusion as Ironwood as the screen continues.
"Ok, 'least we know what happened to the other expedition." Raynor came to that conclusion as the protoss was swiftly dealt with due to the teamwork (and also running away from them.) of the squad as they continued forward. Only to immediately run into a protoss blockage of three photon cannons and a pylon supplying them.
"Looks like they're stuck here, I don't think they can get through that outpost without getting obliterated by those cannons." Robyn made an observation as all of them could see Raynor's men standing quite a distance away from the cannon as the sound of a dropship could be heard.
At the same time, Raynor appeared on screen. "Hold up there! Those protoss cannons will tear us a new one if we try to advance. Swann? You promised me siege tanks! Where are they?"
"Siege tanks?" Nora then enthusiastically asked as the realm lord nodded back.
"Big boom time."
"I wonder…" Pietro mumbled.
The camera then pans towards another dropship that just arrived as it lands down near the initial squad. The hatch then came down as two tanks could be seen emerging out of the dropship as Swann appeared on screen.
"Settle down, hotshot. They're comin'. These babies'll knock these cannons down from a nice, safe distance." Swann assured them as the two tanks then got into position before doing something none of the audience expected.
The tanks then began to change into their siege mode, the main tracks turned outward as the secondary tracks slid into the hull itself, thick hydraulic outrigger legs emerged from the side of the tank and locked it both in place as it pushed against ground for additional support. While that was going on, the main turret began to unfold itself and deploy its shock cannon as they let out a thundering crack before explosions could be seen on the pylon itself.
To say the least, everyone was at awe at the sight of the two tanks unloading round after round of superheated tungsten rounds and it wasn't long till the pylon shields broke from the constant barrage.
The tanks then began to hammer away on the pylon till it fell apart and exploded, disabling the defensive turrets.
"About time, I want to blow something up." One of the marines mutters out.
"Then you better get blasting or else the tanks are going to get all the kills." Another marine punches the first marine in the shoulder before raising his rifle and opening fire on the now disabled photon cannons. The others then soon joined along and blasted those cannons to oblivion.
"I see now, these siege tanks are the Terran's version of mobile artillery." Ozpin hummed.
"And it would be helpful in protecting the laser drill." Glynda added in.
Ruby and Nora then appeared in front of the realm lord with eyes sparkling like the stars as both of them asked at the same time.
"Details now!"
RGQC just smiled as QAI took over.
[The Crucio designed siege tank features superior protection and armament compared to its predecessor design with enhanced survivability and weaponry. By way of armament, the Crucio's turret has a dual-mode weapon system.] QAI took a pause as both Nora and Ruby could be seen absorbing the information as others could be seen scribbling notes down.
[In assault/tank mode, the Crucio utilizes twin 90mm plasma cannons. These are the Crucio's main line of defence, and are effective against enemy armour. Yet, the true might of the Crucio lies in its siege mode. On activation, the twin plasma cannons become the dreaded 180mm Shock Cannon, and just the roar of this weapon has been known to send enemies of the Terrans into full retreat. The shock cannon fires super-heated tungsten in an area larger than the 120mm version.]
To say the least, Ruby and Nora were amazed by such a tank and immediately voiced their minds.
"I want one!" Both of them ecstatically yelled at once.
"No Ruby!"
"Nora no!"
"Ruby yes!"
"Nora Yes!"
As that was going on and the cannons were brought to ruin, Swann appeared on screen once again to explain the siege tanks to Raynor. "These new siege tanks work just like the old ones. When you put 'em in siege mode they get increased range and firepower." Swann took a short pause before continuing.
"They can't move in siege mode, so if you need to reposition 'em, just switch 'em back into tank mode. Y'got it?" Swann then confirmed it as Raynor showed up on screen.
"Got it Swann." Raynor responds back.
As Raynor's squad moved onwards now with the assistance of siege tanks alongside them, they then arrived at a cliffside as protoss Stalker could be seen below as Raynor appeared on screen.
"Let's get some siege tanks deployed on the high ground! They can pound that protoss Stalker before it even gets close to us." And so they did, the siege tanks could then be seen deploying on the high ground before laying in on the poor stalker on the ground. Though much to the surprise of the audience, the stalker survived the initial volley.
Though obviously pissed at the fact that it ate two tank rounds to the face, it began to move towards where the tanks were at. Even more surprising was that the stalker managed to dodge an attack by blinking forward.
"What was that? Did it just teleport to dodge that attack?" A stunned Sun then asked out as QAI could be heard.
[What you saw there was the Stalker's ability to instantly teleport, or "blink," from one spot to another. Through the implementation of a device called a Void displacer. When enabled, the displacer grants stalkers the ability to fade and materialize instantly at a different location, affording them an unprecedented degree of mobility, perfect for quick strikes against the enemy. Or in this case, to avoid an attack if they timed it right.]
"Wow. Don't we have semblances similar to that?" Ruby then asked.
"You do. In fact, in your world, I've seen people with broken ass semblances, they're either rare or even unique to one person in some cases, but they do exist. Wanna know a few?" RGQC then asked with a smile on his face.
Everyone all looked at each other before giving a shrug as Yang then said out everyone's thoughts. "Sure, why not."
"Ok, in one alternative Remnant, there's an individual that I've seen that has a semblance that can instantly disable aura." And as anticipated by the realm lord, everyone goes…
"WHAT?!" Yes, including Cinder and her party.
"Yup, that guy's semblance can shut down your aura by just touching you. Shits broken yo." RGQC continued.
"Swear?" Ruby mumbled.
"How can such semblance exist?!" Weiss was clearly having a mental breakdown at such ridiculous semblance.
"Damn, whoever has that basically can counter huntsmen and huntresses!" Coco joined in.
"I wonder… Do such people exist back on our Remnant? Their powers would be helpful indeed…" Cinder then wondered as her lackeys still had their mouths wide open.
"Do we know anyone that has semblances like that?" Ironwood then asks as Ozpin then shrugs.
"I'll let you know if I found one general."
"Oh yea! That shit can shut down passive semblances as well!" More fuel was added by the realm lord as Qrow eyes widen at it possibly shutting down his stupid bad luck semblance as there were more awe in the audience.
"You mention that there's more of them friend RGQC." Penny then spoke out. Enthusiastic as ever.
"Yea, there's another one that allows the user to stop time for a limited number of seconds." RGQC clearly got even more excited as he continued.
"Stop time?! That's awesome!" Ruby cried out with awe as everyone else could only agree.
"Oh my… That sounds interesting, yes?" Kali then hummed as Ghira just grunted, though it was obvious that he was intrigued that some semblances like that existed.
"If I'm correct, the user can do whatever they wish when their semblance is active. If he or she were willing to do it, they could knock out an entire team or slaughter an entire pack of Grimm in one go."
"Is there more?" Neptune was next to ask.
"Well yea, but I'll give ya one more. In fact, what I'm going to tell you is Lily's father's semblance and it's a unique one at that." RGQC explained while the Belladonna family paid even more attention than the others. All of them curious to know more of Jade's semblance.
"His semblance is called Blood Veil, and it's one hell of a semblance. It allows him to create these chain-like tendrils to aid him in combat at first, it also negates the necessary for clothing as his semblance is his clothing. Also, he can drain his or anyone's blood to rapidly recover aura at the cost of his or anyone's blood."
"Wait wait wait! His semblance turned him into a vampire?" Nora, with vigour jumped into conclusion as RGQC sighed.
"It's more of a trump/emergency card that he has. He hates using it as it can get addicting if he's draining blood from someone else. In short, he does his best to never rely on draining his or anyone's blood to speed up his aura recovery."
"His semblance is his clothing?" Ren then asked as RGQC nodded.
"That's a handy semblance if I've ever heard of one." Coco mumbled.
"At the time, he needs the actual clothing in hand before his semblance and absorb/assimilate it. That would allow him to change clothes at will."
"That is…a unique semblance indeed. What do you mean 'at first'?" Ozpin then spoke with interest.
"Well…" The realm lord noticeably hesitates before speaking again. "In the future journeys he had with you guys, his semblance evolved to say the least. And has gotten much stronger. In fact, you could say that his evolved semblance made him versatile to the extreme. He now can make any clothes without the need to assimilate them." RGQC explained as everyone absorbed the details of Jade's semblance evolution.
"And it can now create anything he could think of, that includes wings for flight. Yes, you all heard me, he can create wings of his own that allow him to fly. Or grant himself a shield or additional weaponry if he wishes, all with his semblance. One would say he was blessed by the gods themselves…" RGQC then said.
Ozpin subtly frowned at the mention of Gods and rightfully so. If the gods RGQC mentioned were the same beings that forced him to fight against Salem for eons. And the fact that RGQC specifically mentioned that Lily's father was blessed by the gods themselves must mean something…
But what exactly.]?
"But we're getting distracted for long enough, let us continue." RGQC hummed as the screen resumed.
The tanks then unleashed another volley and the stalker was obliterated, but it wasn't the only protoss in the region, several zealots were also alerted by the shelling of one of their comrades and began to move onwards towards where the tanks were. Raynor's squad however, didn't stand by. They immediately headed for the cliffs and were immediately filled with lead and explosives.
It was then that something the audience had never seen entered the field. What could be summarised as a ball of energy with a face, torso and arms entered the field. It is much bigger than anything the audience had seen out of the protoss and it looked pissed, like really, really pissed.
"Big shiny ball with a face!" Nora proceeded to yell out.
"Dunno about you guys, but that thing is huge for a protoss. And it looks mad." Torchwick then spoke out after sipping some alcohol.
"What is that exactly?" Neo then asked.
"That is an archon. They are beings of pure psionic power and rage, and their presence on the battlefield inspires much fear in their foes. And rightfully so. They emit so much power that they would eventually burn out eventually no matter what happens. But during that time when they're still around, they are monsters on the field of battle with their resilient shield attacking with direct psionic shockwaves."
"These psionic shockwaves rip organic tissue apart, causing massive damage through rapid cellular degeneration and the transfer of thermal energy. While psionic shockwaves are most effective against biological targets, even heavy plating yields before their might." RGQC continued as all of them could listen with awe in their eyes. It was then that Ozpin then asked the appropriate question.
"Then how are they made RGQC?"
"Well… it involves two templars to sacrifice their existence to create these powerful beings. In a way, it represents the protoss warrior ethos of sacrifice for the greater good." RGQC answered as everyone could only wonder if they would have the will to do what those protoss are willing to do.
"Archon ahead! Take it down before it gets close or we're toast!" One of the marines yelled out as the siege tanks could be seen directing their aim onto the archon before opening fire. Though compared to stalkers whose shields were instantly eviscerated from a volley, the archon's shields held firm as it made it up the ramp as everyone ran away to clear some distance while constantly shooting it.
"Destroy!" The archon let out a bellowing cry as it fired off a psionic shockwave attack that slammed into one of the tank's tracks and it began to glow red hot and slowly began to melt into slag. But due to the content barrage from the siege tanks as well as marines and marauders, its shields were eventually pierced as it began to dissipate.
"First of all, that thing is scary, guys. Did you see those tracks glowing hot from that hit alone? Just how much power does it take to do that?" Jaune then asked as he shivered slightly. If it can do that to a tank, what would happen if a marine were to get hit by that shockwave?
"We can see that Jaune… And I think it must be incredibly powerful if it can cause metal to melt like that." Pyrrha mumbled.
"Enough power to turn anything organic it hits into ash instantly. That's how dangerous those guys are." RGQC then spoke as a shiver went up everyone's spines. Except Penny.
"Dispersing!" It let out a growl as it began to rapidly vanish from sight. Leaving a very thankful team as well as a siege tank and its slightly melted buddy. With the threats eliminated, the tanks could be seen packing up before following the rest of the squad as all of them made it to the abandoned Moebius base.
"There goes that archon. Let's hope that's the last of them." Robyn then muttered in which RGQC heard and had to stop a chuckle from exiting his mouth.
"Not anytime soon… Besides, we still got the Colossus to see first. And Void ray. And Carrier..."
As they all approached the abandoned Moebius base, Adjutant appeared on screen as she began to take over the base. "Moebius base local-net accessed. Decrypting security override. Transferring control of base structures to you, Commander." It says that as the base activates once more with power. But that wasn't the only thing reactivated.
The screen then cuts to the Drakken laser drill as it begins to unfold itself before the sound of it charging up could be heard as Tychus appears on screen. "Fire it up! One hundred and seventy four gigawatts - 'the power of the sun at your fingertips.' Now get it aimed at that door and let's get cuttin'!" As he finished saying that, a massive laser beam could be seen exiting the laser drill itself before cuts to show the laser slamming against the temple doors itself.
"One hundred and seventy-four gigawatts?! How did they manage to get that much power?!" Ironwood, understandably shocked, asked out as RGQC answered.
"It has numerous reactors inside the drill that gives it power to excavate ruins or mine for resources." (I have no idea the details on how that drill ran, so I'm making some stuff up.)
"I see… I assume our dust generators are nothing compared to what they are using. Am I right?"
Yup by a very large margin. The dust generators you guys used to power your kingdoms could be seen as miniscule at best and unreliable at worst, due to how inefficient it is compared to theirs."
"You're saying that our dust generators could be improved upon to be more efficient?" Pietro then asked as RGQC nodded.
"Everything can be improved given time." RGQC explained as he got nods in return.
Matt then appeared on screen to give a report on it. "Laser output is good. Driling will take some time but there's no other way into the temple." Matt took a pause before continuing. "Sir, the Tal'darim are mobilizing their forces against us."
The camera then pans towards one of the Tal'darim bases as multiple zealots and Stalkers could be seen warping into the field.
"Welp guess it's those who defend the base kind of missions. But with tanks and a big ass drill instead." Qrow chuckled as he drank his canteen.
"You're correct Qrow and besides, those tanks are going to make work of anyone that tried to get the drill." RGQC's fox ears twitched as he pulled out some chewing gum to chew on.
"So we set a perimeter and protect the drill until we're through. I'm just glad we've got siege tanks…" Raynor sounded glad as multiple drop pods could be seen raining down towards the recently reclaimed base and it wasn't long till they landed and released their cargo of workers to man the buildings and SCVs to get mining on minerals.
"Looks like some workers and SCVs have arrived from the Hyperion." Penny pointed out as Blake added in her thoughts.
"Don't you guys find it strange that the Tal'darim just left the buildings behind? Instead of destroying them?"
"That's indeed strange Blake." Pyrrha commented before resuming. "But I think they believed that no one else would come after wiping them out, so they just left the buildings there."
"Could it be?" Blake seemed unsure about Pyrrha's theory. After all, there are some books that she'd read that had the antagonist do some really idiotic things that made her question why are they so stupid. Could it be that the Tal'darim did the exact same thing because they're arrogant and believed that no one else would come to investigate the missing expedition?
While that was going on, the siege tanks from earlier could be seen setting up on the high ground as one SCV could be seen repairing the tank that got blasted by an archon. It was then that Raynor appeared on screen to give some orders. "We need bunkers and siege tanks defending that laser drill! We've got no chance of claiming the artifact without it!"
"Sounds like a plan." Ironwood hummed.
As that was going on, the previously dormant factory roared to life and it began working on a new vehicle as Bunkers could be seen being worked on both sides of the base. While that was going on, more supply deposits could be seen under construction as well as more SCVs could be seen exiting the command centre while occasionally, more workers would arrive from the Hyperion.
"Hm… the base must be understaffed if more workers could be seen arriving…" Cinder then mumbled in thought as she observed the massive temple in the distance as the Drakken laser drill could be seen drilling a hole into the temple itself as the outer door glowed red hot.
Matt then appeared on screen as he had some news to bring to Raynor. "Sir, I've managed to access what's left of the Möebius expedition's sensor net. I'll route it through your map so you can see what the Tal'darim are up to." The camera then pans to three locations which show numerous Tal'darim Zealots and Stalkers forming up as if they were preparing to launch an assault at Raynor's recently reclaimed base.
It wasn't long till the first wave of attackers arrived in the form of several stalkers that were widely spread out to minimise the damage that they would take from the siege tanks. But Raynor had already gotten a bunker up as well as marauders could be seen inside it. The stalkers soon managed to reach the base but their strength was already weakened enough that they were dealt with no issue.
"I can see how those tanks can be dangerous in siege mode, seeing that they can strike the enemy before they get close. And even if they did get close, the units in the bunkers can easily dispatch them." Pietro then hummed as Penny continued to secretly record it into her database.
The second wave then came in from the south but they were destroyed before they even got close. Much to the amusement of several of the audience at how potent those tanks were once they set up.
"Talk about their attack blowing up in their faces." Yang chuckled to herself as Tai could be heard joining in. For everyone else, they just groaned as they continued watching.
All of them continue to watch as Raynor's base grows bigger while also shoring up their defences. In the meantime, there were also during that time that several more attack waves could be seen attacking the defensive lines only to be repelled by Terran tanks and bunkers.
"Boom! More boom, yes!" Nora was giggling like a school girl as she occasionally flailed her arms around. "So many explosions! Show me more!" She then cried out.
Unfortunately all that defence is really starting to piss off the Tal'darim Executor as he appears on screen to give another of his taunts and insults. "You would desecrate that which belongs to the gods? This will NOT be borne by the faithful!" And as he finished his threats, the screen then splits into threes and shows numerous Archons and immortals leaving the base and preparing to launch an assault on Raynor's base.
To say the least, everyone was shocked at the sight of so many archons leaving the base while others were more intrigued by the inclusion of a new protoss walker that they had never seen before.
"That's a lot of archons." Sun muttered.
"Yea… way more than what Raynor could handle right now. I mean, he only has like what? Three tanks on each side? That's not going to cut it." Neptune then joined in after his partner.
"What is that walker alongside those archons?" Glynda then asked as QAI could be heard.
[Those are Immortals. They are repurposed walkers from another war machine called a dragoon. Dragoons are quadrupedal assault walkers which house wounded veteran templars retrieved from the battlefield and who wish to still fight. After the fall of Aiur, the Protoss lost their ability to manufacture more of those dragoons. Thus, many of them were transferred to the new walker which are the Immortals. Anti-armour walkers with hardened shields that resist heavy-hitting blows.]
"Anti-armour with shields that resist heavy-hitting blows… I think they counter those siege tanks Raynor has, right?" Ruby then pointed out as QAI confirmed.
[Correct.]
"That's not good. He needs those tanks to defend the drill…" Weiss muttered as RGQC just pointed at the screen.
Matt then appeared on screen to give an alert. "Sir, those are protoss archons. If they get too close our men won't stand a chance!" He then took a pause before resuming. "I'm giving you manual control of the laser drill - see if you can use it against the protoss!"
"Wait he gets to use the massive drill as a weapon?! I'm so jealous!" Ruby cried out in disappointment as hilariously enough, several others agreed with her.
"T-T-Talk about over-kill with that thing." Velvet mumbled as Coco just laughed as she pats Velvet on the shoulder.
"Come on bun bun! Who doesn't want a laser that has the power of the sun at our fingertips?"
"Alright. You heard the man! Swing that laser around! We can use it to drive back the protoss!" And with that, everyone watched at the laser drill then turned to face the protoss wave before firing on one of the archons. To say the least, it was both entertaining and horrifying to see either the archon, or the Immortal be there for one second and gone the next, the only signs that they were once there was the ground, they stood on nothing but scorched earth.
"First of all, that drill alone shreds them in less than a second. Second of all, wouldn't that slow their process down on the temple?" Summer then asked as Ruby could be seen in her arms all happy.
"Yes, in fact. But those archons and Immortals would shred through Raynor's defences very quickly if they manage to get close and besides, Raynor still needs more time to prepare a solid defence."
As the wave was held off, a SCV could be seen heading down toward another mineral field before working on another command centre. While that was going on, more siege tanks could be seen leaving the production line before setting up in defensive positions while missile turrets could be seen built near the drill.
It wasn't long till a wave of protoss came in from the north with more archons and Immortals. And like before, Raynor used the laser drill to eliminate them while leaving the rest of the protoss to the defences to handle.
"There goes another wave. Are they really that suicidal to keep tossing men at them?" Mercury then wondered as RGQC hummed.
"They are fanatical warriors. They would do anything to stop Raynor from stealing their precious artefact. That includes giving their lives to stop him."
Raynor continues to reinforce his base, Adjutant appears on screen to give a report on the drilling. "The laser drill has breached the door's outer layer." The camera pans towards the temple and like advertised, the outer layer has fully melted off and now the drill is working on the next layer.
"Finally! Some progress on that temple!" Yang seemed to be pleased that progress was finally being made as Blake added in.
"Just another 2 layers left before they can get the artefact." Blake then muttered.
But things weren't as smooth sailing as Raynor would have liked as minutes later, Adjutant appeared to give a warning. "Alert. Enemy air units on approach vector."
"Uh oh." Jaune mumbled.
"That's not good at all."
"Damn it. Air units nothin'-" Raynor seemed to shrug it off until he noticed that the protoss air forces were escorting warp prisms. "those're transports! Use the laser and knock 'em down fast!" He responded with urgency as various Tal'darim scouts and a void ray could be seen on approach as warp prisms could be seen in large groups right behind them.
"Those ships are big bois! I mean look at that one!" Nora points at the void ray. "It looks funny with those floaty parts and what are those things following them?"
"Raynor seemed concerned about those transports that he's willing to use the drill on it. If that's the case, I understand why." Ozpin hummed.
'The one you just pointed at Nora is called a void ray, a protoss vessel that can shred armoured targets with a powerful beam. As for you Ozpin, those transports are called warp prisms and they serve as both transports as well as power fields" This got a nod out of Ozpin and a rather cheerful confirmation from Nora who instantly wants one for herself.
As soon as they were alerted to the presence of protoss flyers in the sky, the missile turrets got to work and sent volley after volley of missiles with the occasional hellstorm batteries could be seen as hundreds of tiny missiles could be seen flying and detonating. It caught many of those warp prisms in it but they just kept moving. Only the laser drill to put an end to them.
"Looks like those hellstorm batteries came in as advertised." Torchwick confirmed.
Even if they were to make it to Raynor's base and drop their cargo of Zealots or stalkers, marines and marauders were waiting for them and they were quickly taken out. As for the void ray? It got the laser treatment as the laser drill disintegrated it from existence before it could get close.
Nevertheless, the attack wave was held off as SCVs could be seen leaving the mineral line to repair anything that got damaged in the attack wave. As the repairs were undergoing, Matt appeared on screen to alert his commander of something of interest. "Sir, I'm picking up the energy signatures of several protoss relics in the area. I'm marking them on your map."
The camera then pans to three of smaller temple like structures as Raynor then appeared on screen. "Well if there's time we can blast 'em free with the laser drill - I bet Stetmann'd love to study them."
"Ooooh... More protoss relics?" Penny then tilted her head.
"That appears to be the case Penny, though it seems that they need to use the drill to open up those shrines." Pietro then answered his daughter as she nodded.
As that was happening, SCVs could be seen working on bunkers near the expansion as well as some siege tanks could also be seen positioned in siege mode close by. More protoss waves that had archons as well as Immortals started to show up, though it appears that the laser drill wasn't needed as there were enough tanks and bunkers to blast through the resilient shielding of the archons or the hardened shields of the immortals.
"Looks like Raynor had reached a critical mass of tanks." Ren mumbled out as everyone else looked at the silent boy.
"What Ren meant is that Raynor had so many tanks that he didn't need to use the laser drill to deal with archons or immortals as you all can see." RGQC then pointed at the screen to show a protoss wave getting blown to bits before they could even reach the defensive lines. Even if they did, the bunkers would soak up the damage while marines and marauders inside the bunkers returned fire.
"Strange terminology kiddo but I guess it makes sense. Though it seems overkill to me." Qrow muttered.
"There's one thing that Terrans can agree on that I also agree on. There's no such thing as overkill. Especially against the Zerg or Protoss." RGQC smiled as the screen continued.
"Yea!" Ruby cheered alongside others.
As the defences continued to hold, Adjutant appeared on screen to give a report. "The laser drill is now cutting through the door's thermal barrier." It says as the screen pans to show that yes, another layer of the temple has been melted off.
"Well look at that, they're half-way there." Torchwick could only say what was on everyone's mind.
"Yea but I don't think the Tal'darim would continue to let that happen though…"
"I suppose that's true Neo."
"Sir! More air units inbound!" Matt suddenly appeared on screen to give an alert as more warp prisms could be seen inbound towards Raynor's base. But they're not alone, there's a much bigger escort of scouts and void rays could be seen attacking the expansion base itself which was guarded by recently built missile turrets. Beyond all that, there were two massive ships in the distance on approach towards the base as everyone could only awe at the size of that thing.
"Oh my Ohm! What is that thing! It's so big!" Coco cried out as Yang and several others had to cover their mouth to stop themselves from laughing due the fact that Coco made an unintended innuendo.
"That, ladies and gentlemen. Is the protoss carrier one of their larger ships they bring into battle. It seems that the Tal'darim had enough of that delay and had sent carriers to deal with them. It attacks by sending swarms of interceptors controlled by an AI to attack their foes." The realm lord observed as Neo was next.
"I knew it."
"Good thing they have the laser drill to deal with it." Tai then states.
Hundreds of interceptors could be seen leaving the carrier and on the direct course to Raynor's base as pretty much everyone was freaking out as one of the workers could be heard yelling.
"Get that laser drill to take out that carriers STAT!"
"Yea! Yea! Boss got it under control!"
"He better hurry and take it out cos here they come!" He cried out again as the laser drill turned to face the carrier before charging up and firing on it. The laser slammed against the tough shielding of the carrier before it pierced right through it, causing the entire ship to begin to burn and crash in the abyss shrouded by fog below. The interceptors also began to self-destruct when the carrier was destroyed.
"Huh… is it me or did those interceptors self-destruct after the carrier got destroyed?" Sun asked as he tilted his head in confusion. Several others also did the same as they all looked at RGQC.
"They are linked to their parent carrier and it guides where to attack. If their carrier is destroyed, there's nothing to direct those interceptors and thus they self-destruct to avoid it going rogue or getting captured." (I'm making it up here while also theorising why they blow up once their parent carrier dies.)
"I suppose that is true if they were relying on the carrier to direct their attacks…" Pietro hummed.
As while everyone was distracted with the carriers, Missile turrets could be seen firing on anything and everything in the skies while occasionally filling it with missiles. Large groups of Warp prisms were taken out yet they kept moving before dropping their cargo into the base itself. Some fortunate stalkers or zealots were dropped directly onto the siege tanks and it resulted in Raynor's infantry to chase them off it.
Things get even more complicated when high templars enter the field and cast psionic storms all over the tanks causing significant damage to them before they were blown the fuck up by the tanks.
"What was that?" Neptune then asked RGQC points out.
"Those are high templars." RGQC points at the protoss warrior floating above the ground. "And they just casted psionic storms over the tanks and as you had seen, it is basically a storm of raw psychic energy that shreds anything in it. In this case, many of those siege tanks that got caught in that attack now need serious repairs after it."
"So now they have to deal with people that can attack you with their minds. Just great." Mercury huffed as RGQC agreed.
"That's dealing with the protoss in a nutshell, if they're not killing you with their war machines, their minds would be the one to do it."
As the battle continued, a squad of marines, marauders and medics could be seen pushing southward as they clashed with a Tal'darim outpost to the south of Raynor's base that were guarding the relics in the shrines. Any aircraft that were present were quickly eviscerated by the laser drill before it opened fire on the first shrine.
Entire chunks of said shrine were melted away until the whole building was burned away leaving away a protoss relic that remained unharmed. The same was dealt with the other shrine nearby before they all pulled back and headed north as more protoss waves could be seen trying their best to breach the defence.
"That's two relics, just one more to go." Jaune nodded as a SCV headed towards the location of the last relic.
"Aren't those shrines defended by guards? Then why did Raynor send a SCV up there?" Ruby questioned before pointing out as everyone could only look quizzingly at what Raynor was trying to do.
"Just watch." Those were the words that came out of the Realm lord's mouth as it continued.
"Huh? You just want me to stand here boss?" The SCV driver asked as the Drakken laser drill could be seen turning its turret towards the SCV before firing and eviscerating the Tal'darim guards protecting the shrine.
"This earned an 'ah' from everyone as watched as the SCV moved up to see nothing but scorched earth as the laser drill turned its lasers on the last shrine before melting it open.
The SCV quickly picked up the Protoss relic before retreating back into the safeties of the base itself, though the Tal'darim weren't done yet as Matt appeared on screen to give a warning of an air attack. "There's another wave of air units heading your way!" He alerted Raynor as he too appeared on screen.
"These guys just won't give it up... Stick it to 'em boys!" Raynor ordered his men in an almost annoyed tone that the Tal'darim aren't giving up. The camera then showed even more protoss ships on a direct course to Raynor's base, but that wasn't the only thing of concern, far back. Multiple 17 stories tall skyscrapers of destruction could be seen scaling down the cliffs of the Tal'darim base and were on the move.
"What on ohm is that thing?! That thing is huge!" Kali briefly lost her composure as everyone else watched with awe and horror at such a massive walker.
"How is it not collapsing with those thin legs it has?" Penny then asked.
"The legs were designed that way to support the massive weight with ease while allowing for the traversal of rough terrain and steep elevations. Thus, this war machine can scale cliffs with ease. Of course, due to its immense height, it can be targeted by anti-air missiles. Oh, and if sufficient damage is done to the machine, it would topple over quickly due to its mass located at the top of the machine." RGQC explained
"Wait, it's so large and tall that it can be hit by anti-air? Wow." Yang muttered.
"What is the name of this machine?" Robyn then asked.
"This machine is called the colossus. It can attack with its thermal lances which are mounted on each side of its body and its fiery swathe of destruction through multiple enemies with each firing cycle. It also can fire point blank by the way if you were to hide underneath it. Though there's a higher chance of you getting crushed by the damn thing."
"Colossus… Don't we have a mech in Argus that has a similar name?" Ironwood muttered a question to his second.
"Do you mean the Colossus mech piloted occasionally by Caroline Cordovin Sir?"
"Yes, thank you Specialist Winter. And I'm sure that their colossus is much larger than ours."
"And they can mass produce it most likely." Winter added in.
The drill could be seen turning its turret on the carriers and deleting it from existence, it then moved on to fire upon the colossuses that were approaching them and turning them into molten slag as the missile turrets dealt with any warp prism, scout and void rays that were detected.
Adjutant then appeared on screen to give another alert. "Thermal barrier breached. The laser drill is now cutting through the core." The camera quickly shows that the drill laser is now working on the final layer of the temple.
"Looks like we're almost done here now." Neo hummed before shoving more ice cream into her mouth.
"No doubt those protoss are not going to be happy about it." Torchwick huffs.
Though it appears that the Tal'darim Executor didn't like that and replied. "They seek to befoul the legacy of the gods! Destroy them!" He ordered as more protoss could be seen leaving their bases only to get obliterated by all the siege tanks. This went one for a couple more minutes of constant defence against the ever-ending tide of angry protoss attacking them alongside air waves but they were doing it.
Though it wasn't all smooth sailing, Raynor nearly lost control of the situation of the top defences when the Tal'darim started to swarm him with archons, immortals as well as colossus and it nearly broke through their defences, thankfully. They managed to buy enough time to rebuild and repair, not without losses though as a few siege tanks as well as infantry were burned away by the attacks of the colossus. Much to the utter horror of everyone else as they watched as a large chunk of the defences were burned away by thermal lances. (Yea… I nearly fucked up in that mission… Just to show that I can still make blunders despite the fact I've played this game about 6 times already. Hooray me.)
"Damn that was too close!" Sun could only wipe the sweat off his forehead as his partner agreed with him.
"Yea, thankfully it looks like Raynor got it in the bag."
Nevertheless, the lines held on despite the fact that the Tal'darim Executor was basically throwing everything in the kitchen sink at Raynor. Carriers and all. Adjutant then appeared to give an alert that the drilling process was almost done. "Breach of the doorway core is imminent. Structure access imminent."
"They're nearly done!" Ruby cheered out as the younger audience could be heard cheering for Raynor's men to hold on.
That same sentiment was shared by Raynor's men as all of them were cheering at their imminent victory.
The Tal'darim Executor appeared once again on screen to voice his threats against the foolish Terrans that seek to steal their sacred artefacts. "It is our sacred duty to stop these defilers! Burn them to ashes!" He demanded as the attacks from the protoss escalated as fanatical zealots could be seen charging in without fear as siege tanks continuously fired on every hostile in sight. But it was all for naught and they failed in their objective.
In the end, they exhausted their manpower as Raynor's men could be seen heading out towards the now opened shrine to pick it out. A truck could then be seen carrying said piece out of the temple as marines and siege tanks could be seen guarding the area for hostiles.
"Yea! Another piece of a shiny puzzle piece!" Nora suddenly yelled out as everyone looked at her with confusion.
"Uh, Nora? What do you mean by puzzle?" Velvet then asked as her rabbit ears twitched in confusion.
"They look like puzzle pieces! Can you guys not tell?" Nora then points out.
"They do look like they are meant to fit together… Like a jigsaw puzzle…" Pyrrha could be seen rubbing her chin as everyone could be seen in thought.
"Could all those artefacts combine into something?" Neo then joined into the conversation.
"Could be if we all were to think about it." Summer added in as several of the adults began to suspect that there is more to these artefacts that Raynor's collecting.
"Oh, how right they are…" RGQC could only hide his grin on his face.
"You have prevailed for now. Word of this sacrilege will echo across the stars, James Raynor. The day of reckoning draws near!" The Tal'darim Executor made his threats that next time, Raynor won't be so lucky when getting the relic pieces themselves.
"These artifacts of yours seem real popular, Tychus." Raynor then points out to his partner who obviously doesn't care as long as they get paid.
"What do we care, long as the pay's good."
"Last I checked, you're not risking your life to secure these artifacts." Robyn pointed out as all could only nod in agreement.
"Really?" Raynor could only question his partner. "I'd say gettin' vaporized by the Tal'darim definitely counts as 'diminishing returns.'" Raynor shot back as a drop ship could be seen arriving to pick up the artifact as the screen darkens.
"What now?" Jaune then asked as RGQC stepped in.
"We're not done yet." The realm lord explained as he pointed at the screen.
"We're not done yet?" Tai could only ask as if by command, it lights up again.
Hyperion Access Hall F
04:14 Shipboard Time
"Huh, why is he up that early in the morning?" Summer asked as Tai could only shrug in return. Qrow just grunts before taking a sip of his drink.
The scene opens up showing Raynor walking to the doors of Access Hall F with his flask in hand, he then pauses and then opens it and takes a gulp or two as the doors open in front of him.
"Uhh… What's going on?" Ruby could only as she is genuinely confused why it shows Raynor in the access hall.
"I have no idea, little sis." Yang could only agree with her sister as they continued watching.
Raynor then could be seen continuing on his journey into the access hall as the doors close behind him. As he continues onward and takes another swallow of his drink, the lights suddenly flicker much to his bewilderment. The same could be said for the audience.
"What's going on?" Emerald then asked as the realm lord just rested his fingers on his mouth and gave her the silent treatment.
"Looks like it's your turn to get the silent treatment Em." Mercury chuckled as Emerald could be seen giving him the finger.
"Shut it you-"
"Both of you enough! I believe we're going to get our answer very soon." Cinder demanded as both of them nodded and complied.
Raynor then turns to look back and as he puts his flask away all while the sounds of machinery slow to a halt. As if it didn't get any more confusing, the lights at both ends of the room began to go out one by one except for the one he's under.
"Seriously, this is just getting spooky." Sun states as Nora joins in.
"Oh! It must be a ghost!"
"What? Ghosts do not exist Nora." Weiss disagrees with Nora.
"Weiss we are in a place that anything is possible, so ghost could exist in their world." Pyrrha then says back.
"I… suppose that is true." Weiss admitted as the scene continues.
The camera then cuts to something, or someone watching Raynor through the piping as the sound in the scene begins to sound like those of horror films. Raynor then turns around to hear the sound of another individual's voice that seems to echo.
"James Raynor…" The voice then reveals himself to be a familiar protoss with green glowing eyes as well as a scarf. Zeratul makes his appearance out of the darkness from the direction Raynor was heading while slowly approaching him. At the same time, a mystical theme began to play in the background.
"Hey is that Zeratul guy that was mentioned before!" Ruby was one of the first few individuals to recognize that protoss is actually Zeratul, who was mentioned in one of the earlier scenes.
"It's him, what is he doing here?" Yang then asked.
"More importantly, why?" Blake added in as pretty much everyone nodded in agreement.
"...I bring tidings of doom."
"Zeratul…" Raynor could only say that to his protoss friend whom he had not seen for years. Zeratul could then be seen clutching onto his wounded arm as he continued on.
"He's wounded. What happened to him?" Ozpin observed.
"I have pierced the veil of the future and beheld only…" Zeratul then fell to his knees as he finished his sentence. "Oblivion."
"Oh boy. That doesn't sound good at all." Neptune states as everyone else could only agree.
Raynor then went on his knees to check on his wounded friend who just looked up at him with his green eyes. "Yet one spark of hope remains. You will hold her life in your hands…"
"Whose hands exactly?" Penny tilted her head in genuine confusion.
"...And though justice demands that she die for her crimes," Zeratul's tone was full of anger before it became calm as he continued to explain as the camera faces Raynor's face. "only she can save us."
"Wait a second," Raynor quickly rises to his feet as he figures out who his friend was talking about. "you're talking about Kerrigan?"
Now genuinely upset, Raynor continues. "It's been four years! Y'show up outta nowhere -" Raynor's rant was cut off when Zeratul grabbed the underside of his right wrist and pulled him down.
"Wait what? Kerrigan, the same person who probably killed millions, even billions is needed alive to save everyone? How?" Ironwood came to that conclusion as did everyone else.
"Time is short! You must understand!" Zeratul begged his friend as he placed something onto Raynor's hand.
Raynor then looks down at his hand and back up at Zeratul, and back down in surprise. Zeratul then takes his hands away revealing a strange green device, but definitely of Protoss design.
"Oh… shiny, what's that?" Nora asked.
"I do not know Nora." Ren replied back to his partner.
"The answers you seek lie within." Zeratul says as the device in Raynor's hand activates and from what the audience could tell, it warped in a green crystal. Raynor looks back at Zeratul who at this point was already withdrawing back into the darkness. "Study it well, the fate of creation hangs in the balance."
"Fate of creation hangs in the balance? What does he mean by that?" Glynda could only ask as her headmaster offered a suggestion."
"I believe the device Zeratul gave to Raynor carries the answer."
"I suppose that is true…" Ironwood mutters.
Raynor then looks back up from the crystal and stands up, at that point, Zeratul has already withdrawn back into the darkness as the lights turn back on and the sounds of machinery start up again.
"...Nice to see you too." Raynor could only mutter as the screen cuts to black as the mystical music ends as well.
RGQC then stood up before spitting his gum into a tissue before the tissue seemed to fade into dust. "Now then, the next few missions should be quite interesting indeed, so I recommend you all to take a break. Kapeesh?"
RGQC got nods and all of them stood up and left the theatre room. Once everyone had left the room, RGQC then stretched his arms as QAI came in.
[Master, I got a world that might be worth looking through.] QAI said as RGQC pulled his tablet and read through the contents.
"Interesting… The brother gods are planning something with another poor individual?"
[Affirmative, it appears that they decided to put Ozma into him instead of Oscar after the fall of beacon. This alone creates a new timeline branch to take a observe at.]
"Interesting…Very interesting… Why not both of us observe this world while they take a break?" RGQC then asked his AI assistant.
[Very well then.]
And we are done with this bloody chapter! Oh god. This entire chapter is like 14k words.
Help.
Anyways, it's good to be back writing stories and we're starting this year off with a bang! So, whatcha think of this new chapter in 2022? I wonder if I pulled it off… Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed it at least.
Next is the ending, what could it be? Is it a filler? Or a foreshadowing of something new… I wonder… Also, I want to know when you guys prefer my upload date to be? As soon as this chapter is released, I'll set up a poll (As soon as I figure out how to do one in the first place…) on which day y'all prefer I'll release my stories. Your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
Also I got a poll up now that's main purpose is to check with ya on which day you prefer my uploads. Your voice matters in this!
Anyways, if you like my work and want to see more of it in the future, favourite and follow this work of mine. If you wish to say anything to me, good or bad. Leave a review. I will answer it if I feel it is relevant or I want to address it.
Other than that, I will see ya guys in the next chapter soon.
RGQC out!
