Chapter 3: Ring of Iron : Military skills of the Combat Soldier Part 1
Inside of the Cube of Thunder and Wind
Naruto is greeted by 8 people he would come to hate and love. In front of him is two girls one dressed in somewhat revealing set of samurai, the other girl in ninja style armor that is similarly revealing. Behind them are 7 men, one man is wearing dress ware akin to that of a jungle warrior prince with a blue turban 3 others have dresswear akin to a modern military of sorts with head wears of a black beret, red headband and green beret, the last one wearing dress ware akin to that of a warrior nobleman.
"Who are you guys" asked a curious Naruto as he looked at the 8 in question.
"Greetings Young Naruto, we will be teaching you the military skills of the Ring Of Iron." answered the Man in military gear with grayish camouflage.
"I am Boris Ivanov I will be teaching you Combat Sombo" said Boris as he looks at the blonde in question.
"I am Rakesh Chopera I will be teaching you Kalaripayattu" said Rakesh as he smiles at the blonde.
"I am Sonya Yoshimitsu I will be teaching you Arashikage Ninjitsu" said Sonya as she smiles under her mask as the two other military dressed men walk towards Naruto.
"Hello Naruto I am Azriel Lichenified I will be teaching you Krav Maga and Kapap" introduced the black beret as the three others walk forward
"I am Jun Chun I will be teaching you Hwarang-Do" introduced Jun
"I am Frank Krauser I will be teaching you military combatives that where taught by the United States Military in it's Marine Corps and Army." introduced Frank
"I am Tanya Hanma. I will be teaching you the Hanma Himaru Ryu of the Samurai arts." introduced Tanya.
"But that is not all we will be teaching you important military stratagems, and doctrine. When we are done you would be a superb combat soldier of your time." said Boris as he smiles at Naruto who looks on in awe at the prospect.
Timeskip 11 years later
Naruto has been put through hell from the military experts of the cube. Boris, Azriel, and Frank trained Naruto in the brutal hand to hand combat of U.S Military Combatives, Combat Sombo, Krav Maga, and Kapap. Respectively teaching him the basic uses of military melee weapons and concealed weapons on top of the hand to hand tactics needed for a combat soldier of his time.
Sonya, Jun, Tanya and Rakesh had taught Naruto, Kalaripayattu, Hwarangdo, Samurai Bujutsu and Ninjitsu. Naruto at first was confused by Sonya's Ninjitsu as he thought her's was like his era of Shinobi's. But Sonya explained that ninja was conceptually different of beyond ancient's past. As while ninjas of his era would be more army orientated in contrast to ninjas of beyond ancient times where highly trained irregular type fighters focusing on either assassination, sabotage, arson, guerilla warfare or espionage.
The blonde had also continued to hone his skills in the martial arts of the harmonic ring on top of the military martial arts of the ring of steel.
Naruto for his part had been taught military stratagems and doctrines that would fit his world. These came in the form of a clean well kept home with well stock food and well preserved rations along with better security for his home, all around training in important military skills, a concealed armory and main armory, an alarm system, a well equipped war room, computer station, a well equipped training room and a closet of more variable clothing that would serve him well in his ninja career.
Naruto had also gained knowledge in mathematics, philosophy, culinary arts as well as knowledge in other academics and hobbies such as calligraphy, art, poetry, and zen gardening. Learning from Masakado's manual The Fires of Soldiering. Naruto gains deep insights on a highly skilled and highly trained soldier from the combat maneuvers, battlefield tactics, stealth, recon, evasion, marksmanship and ballistics, geology, camouflage, military history, analytics and tracking, torture and interrogation techniques along with the art of bashing and battlefield brawling deeply cutting into the combat skills of a soldier that gives Naruto what he needs to act like a professional soldier..
When Naruto unlocked his chakra he experienced a big surprise and realized why the villagers hate him for so long.
Flashback 2nd half of year 1 into the academy.
At the academy everyone was excited to gain access to their chakra, none more than the clan heirs. As each of them where unlocking their chakra. Naruto was the very last person to have his chakra unlocked for the day. When Iruka and Mizuki went to unlock Naruto's chakra he starts to feel sick.
"What's wrong Naruto are you alright" asked a concern Iruka as he looks at his student.
"Ugh my stomach feels like it's going to blow up. Can I head home today sensei I don't feel up to any practice after this " asked Naruto as Iruka nods at the request of his student. Naruto walks towards his home through a route he learned to conceal from the villagers. Unknowing that his guardian angel is watching out for him during his trek home.
Naruto walking inside of his home and locks goes to falls on top of his recliner He starts to fall asleep from the experience of his chakra being released throughout his body. Falling asleep he begins to discover new secrets about himself and his past.
Inside of the Mindscape
Naruto looks around to see a temple palace of sorts. "This way it is time we meet" said a voice. Naruto follows where the voice came from. As he does he sees red lines running through the floor as he walks up to a large cage of sorts. To Naruto's horror he sees a large, massive fox with nine tails that are swaying.
"Your the nine tailed fox. I am I dead did the chakra release-" "No boy you are not dead you are very much alive this your mindscape. I dragged you in here so we can talk" said the Kyuubi No Yoko interrupting Naruto.
"How are you here? I thought you were killed in battle with Yondaime?" said Naruto as Kyuubi chuckles at the statement.
"Smart kid you see tailed beasts can't be killed even the strongest of humans can't kill us for we are only masses of chakra we will only reform afterwards the only beings capable of killing us are beings such as gods, and ascended sages. Your Yondaime however had no choice but to seal me inside of an infant. Which was you. You are my jinchuriki" explained Kyuubi as Naruto thinks about why the Yondaine would do it until he realizes something he thinks back from what he's heard of the yondaime being a kind and honorable man willing to make great sacrifices for his village. A woman by the name of Kushina Uzumaki a woman with the exact same last name of Uzumaki as himself, who was also close to Yondaime. He also remembers a rumor of her being pregnant that day and the child supposedly dying from birth. Naruto remember words from Boris when it comes to spy work."If you don't see your targets dead body then he or she isn't dead. Better to confirm the kill than to fight an enemy you thought you killed" Ultimately coming to one critical conclusion about his family.
"I am the Yondaime's son!" said a Surprised Naruto as he connects the dots together on his origins from the day he was born the name Uzumaki being connected to Kushina Uzumaki, her pregnancy and her connection with the Yondaime reveals her to be his mother.
"Tell me everything you know Kurama" asked Naruto as Kurama is shocked by his knowledge of his name.
'He will be the most interesting jailor I will ever have' thought Kurama as he looks at the blonde in question as he begins to tell Naruto what he knows about is parents.
Flashback end
Naruto had revealed to Kurama of his training in the cube of Thunder and Wind which intrigued the fox for it to contain human knowledge of times beyond the sage of the six paths. Naruto and Kurama came to discover that Naruto's access to his Ki types and his unlocking of chakra has granted him something unprecedented to anything in the Shinobi world. As the combinations of two different spiritual energies both natural and unnatural are causing him to evolve in some fashion unseen by the Shinobi world. Naruto's mental and physical performance is off the charts for anyone to keep up with him.
Naruto suggested a partnership that would be beneficial for them both. Said partnership involved Naruto himself wouldn't call upon the beasts chakra while finding a way to separate them without killing him. Kurama's part of the agreement will be to reign in his chakra to keep it bottle necked while Naruto fights his own battles. Naruto also had a stipulation that makes it clear that Kurama is to hide away from the Shinobi Nations after he is freed.
At the moment Naruto is playing with his friends Shikamaru and Choji in a ball game. As this is going on a girl with platinum blonde hair, azure green eyes wearing purple dress wear can be seen looking at our blonde hero with interest. She had been watching the blonde for a long while during his attendance at the academy she had seen him causally get above average scores out scoring Kiba Inuzuka in areas of fitness and tracking and scored even with Shikamaru Nara and Shino Aburame. She thinks to herself 'What is your secret wonder boy? as she looks at her fellow blonde in question.
Naruto for his part started to wear a specially happuri face protector with better protection for his chin. His outfit consisted of dark urban cargo pants with a black t shirt with the yin yang symbol on his chest. His wristbands are a dark metallic color as he also has a grey haori style jacket with the kanji with strength and honor on it's back.
"Hey brat let me ask you something about these rings you have to gain access for the cube of thunder and wind." asked Kurama telepathically as Naruto passes the ball to Choji.
"Well it involves me solving the puzzle to it, afterwards the puzzle will give me the astral essences of warriors of the past in key martial arts so far. I have finished the Harmonic Ring and the First Ring , The Ring of Steel." explained Naruto as Kurama is interested in said ring as he asks next. "What did the ring of steel contain?" asked Kurama as Naruto catches the ball and passes it to Shikamaru.
"Well it contains not only military based fighting forms but also insights of the professional soldier." answered Naruto as he catches the ball tosses it to Choji.
"Fascinating. So whenever you access this cube your consciousness leaves your body for a few seconds. You would begin a new ring after completing one after another" said Kurama as he thinks about the implications of this cube's knowledge base.
"By the way Gaki. This has been bothering me, how did you know my name was Kurama?" asked Kurama as Naruto throws the ball to Shikamaru.
"In a country known as Tibet, Kurama literally means nine lamas and seeing that you have nine tails leads me to see that Kurama would be your name" reasoned Naruto as Kurama is surprised at the blonde's reasoning and deduction skills.
"So what are your plans for me as I have watched you train these last 11 years in the Ring of steel what do you plan for me? asked Kurama, curious about the blonde and any plans for him in the future.
"Well seeing as you had explained that Madara forced you to attack Konoha gives me one idea. To take you out of play for his plans." said Naruto as Kurama is confused by the blonde in question.
"How would you go about doing this might I ask" asked Kurama as wonders what the blonde is planning.
"Simply put I am going to free you from this cage so you can go elsewhere away from the elemental nations. As you would be the epicenter of what ever the supposed Uchiha renegade is planning. That way you wouldn't be a big, pardon the pun, a big target of the Bastard Uchiha." said Naruto as he and his friends are walking to their class.
Naruto for his part had kept his highly advanced and developed combat skills and military training underwraps scoring averagely in his studies while continuously training in secret to gain skills needed for his village's military forces. Naruto had also taken to heart Frank's warning of enemies inside of the village that would claim to be doing his village proud but in truth disregarding it's values and morals. Naruto, now armed with knowledge of military combat walks inside of his classroom for his graduation.
Inside he sees a scowling Mizuki covered in feathers and tar. Naruto had also taken up for his stealth and evasion training turning his pranks into secret missions. Having pranked his attempted saboteurs in the academy, pranked several Anbu by dying their suits multiple colors, managing to steal the flea collars from the Inuzuka clan without any of them detecting him. With the only person to be close to catching him was Iruka. Who for his part is impressed with the blonde's stealth and evasion skills to be able to evade highly skilled individuals and set up powerful traps.
Mizuki thinking.'How can the demon brat be so skilled to be able to work around those genjutsu's so easily. This can't be possible'
"Boy Mizuki must have been lost to be in this state right Shika" whispered Naruto as Shikamaru chuckles at his statement.
"Alright students, it's time for your graduation exams" said Iruka as he looks at each one of them. One by one they perform the basic academy jutsus with Naruto being the last one.
'Alright demon brat, let's see if you can do a clone jutsu with extra chakra.' thought Mizuki as he sees Naruto about to perform said clone jutsu. Izuku makes his move to overcharge Naruto's jutsu. But Naruto sensing some additional chakra pouring into his hand signs uses something that catches both chunin . As soon 7 Naruto's appear in front of everyone.
"N-Naruto how did you do this? These clones look so real" said Iruka as he pokes one to discover they are real. Causing Iruka to look at him in surprise and awe.
"Naruto did you just do the multi shadow clone jutsu." asked Iruka as he looks at Naruto with a surprised gaze.
"Yes I did and no I didn't" said Naruto in a puzzling manner as Iruka becomes confused.
"Explain please" asked Iruka as he looks at Naruto in question
"I discovered it when I was studying the jutsu a year back. When I still couldn't do the normal bushin ,I looked at the hand signs and studied them over and discovered that my chakra output would overpower the jutsu itself due to how little the chakra it requires. I went into studying how to focus my chakra into my clones to enhance them and so here we are. I at first didn't know that I used the multi shadow clone jutsu until now" explained Naruto as Iruka is amazed at the blonde discovering the shadow clone jutsu and the multi shadow clone jutsu.
"Well seeing as you can use that jutsu you pass. Welcome to the Shinobi Forces of the Leaf Naruto. I hope you thrive in the world of shadow fighters." said Iruka with a smile as he hands him his head band welcoming a new strength into Konoha's fighting forces.
"Thanks Iruka sensei I won't let you down" said Naruto as he bows to them both and walks out heading home.
Mizuki for his part was internally angry that Naruto passed his exam despite his own efforts.'Damm I needed him as an escape goat to make off with the scroll of sealing. No matter I could just get the lowest scoring genin to do it for me' thought Mizuki as he looks at a certain Inuzuka clan heir playing with his dog.
Naruto is walking home so he could prepare for his new journey as a soldier of his village. As he is walking home a particular sage is watching with interest from a distance.
'Ah I see his growth hasn't gone to waste but most interestingly he seems to be evolving both spiritually and physically. Not only through his discovery of Ki but also the unlocking of his chakra.' thought Hayato as he proceeds to fly towards a nearby alley to keep up appearances as an apartment super and owner as he morphs back into his human guise as Furinji Hamato and goes towards the Hokage's office.
'I wonder what this pathetic excuse of an elderly man wants' thought Furinji as he walks to the Hokage tower.
Back with Naruto
Naruto is walking towards Ichiraku's as a detour to his home to celebrate his graduation. As he is doing so, one Ino Yamanaka is following her fellow blonde from a distance. Looking to understand her subject of interest. 'What makes you so special. You didn't score so high but you seemingly have drawn my eye. You have something that Sasuke has but what?' thought Ino as she looks at the blonde who was celebrating at Ichiraku's.
Inside of the Hokage Tower
Hiruzen is waiting on Hamato Furinji the guise of the ascended sage Hayato Furinji. 'Let's see if I can bend this man to the village's way of thinking.' thought Hiruzen as he waits for Hamato to walk inside of the room. Soon Hamato walks into the room. He appears to have a build of a blacksmith and craftsman rolled into one wearing a t-shirt with black cargos and sandals.
"You wanted to see me Lord Hokage" asked Hamato as he looks at Hiruzen with a passive face as he looks at the man with an unreadable face.
'His expression is hard to read I better try this carefully' thought Hiruzen as he looks at the man in question.
"Yes I would like to inform you of your tenant Naruto Uzumaki. As he has a rather dark secret that only a few know about in this village" lied Hiruzen as Hamato knows about everyone knowing of said secret.
"What pretail his that Lord Hokage?" asked Hamato as he looks at the elderly man in question.
"What he is a demon container, a human turned into a demonic container for a tailed beast demon" said Hiruzen, seeing if he's got the man's attention. 'Hmm so that's why I could sense something within the boy that was foil. However from what I can sense from this man's words half of it is true and from what I can sense from the man's intention he seeks to want me to ostracize the boy so he could be molded into a weapon apart of his falling apart plan well looks like the plan's going to fall even further.' thought Hayato as he looks at the Third Hokage.
"Here is a question has he ever once acted in anyway demonic?" asked Hamato as he looks at Hiruzen. "No why" asked Hiruzen not understanding his question.
"Well if he's a demonic container he should be making some doors to hell or something of the sorts. As from what I have seen of the blonde he is not really a demon more like a human container to this tailed beast you speak of" said Hamato as he looks at the man in question.
Hiruzen seeing as his plan is falling apart asks"Well don't you have any reservations about demons being in your apartment." "No for I actually come from a country that sees demons not as good or evil spirits but being capable of good or evil .Plus I have a no questions asked policy as long as they don't do anything malicious or renovate their complex without permission. Is this all that you wanted to talk about" asked Hamato as he looks at the corrupt Hokage in question.
"Well I would like to ask if you could allow access to Naruto's apartment for his possible team sensei so they could know where he lives and understand their student" asked Hiruzen as he could get inside and damage any security in place for any possible chance of reprogramming of his blonde jinchuriki.
"Yes I can allow that but I must be with you and the sensei for security reasons for my tenants so there isn't a breach of trust and privacy. I know you are the Hokage but I would like to upheld my privacy policies." said Hamato as he looks at the Hokage respectfully.
Hiruzen had to begrudgingly agree due to the business union's policies that would get the attention of the daimyo.
Back with Naruto at night
Naruto is meditating inside of his home he is concentrating on how to control his blood flow to help improve his already insane healing factor. As he is doing this he senses something foul in the air as if someone is up to no good.
Naruto goes to his arms locker to get his equipment and gear. He checks everything out to see that everything in proper working condition.
Naruto soon steps outside wearing a black trench coat over a grey T shirt with rolled up sleeves with orange trimmings, black cargo pants with specially made combat boots. Naruto sees that several Chunins and even Jonins .
"Hey what's going on, why is everyone moving frantically?" asked a curious Naruto as he looks at a chunin who stopped. "Kid someone stole the scroll of sealings from the Hokage tower. The village is on high alert." said a chunin as he leaves a shocked Naruto who joins in the search. Naruto using his highly developed sensory abilities senses movement in a deeply forest area of the village moves through the forest. He senses Kiba and his ningen Akamaru looking through a scroll of sorts. 'Bingo' thought Naruto as he moves closer.
"Come on Akamaru Iruka will be here in no time we just have to master one of the jutsu's inside of this scroll." said Kiba as he's trying to figure out what jutsu to learn.
"Hey Kiba what the hell are you doing here with the scroll of sealing" asked Naruto as he looks at the Inuzuka clan heir.
"Oh hey Naruto I was just learning something from scroll Mizuki told me that this was part of a secret test to be a higher class genin." said Kiba as Naruto remembers that Kiba was the dead last of this year having scored embarrassingly low due to the Inuzuka not paying attention in crafts such as camouflage, intelligence gathering, reconnaissance and battle tactics. Kiba failed many of these fields for his Shinobi training.
"Secret test. Kiba, if there was a secret test, wouldn't everyone know about said test in question" said Naruto as Kiba thinks about what his friend has said.
Before anything could happen a giant demon shuriken comes flying at Naruto. Naruto with expert timing bats away the Shuriken with a medium short staff. Naruto looks to see Mizuki looking at him with a smirk.
"Kiba get out of here he's after the scroll! go and get help hurry" shouted Naruto as he stares growling at Mizuki for his ploy. Kiba, seeing a battle, moves towards the village to get help for the young blonde.
"Ah demon brat I was hoping Iruka would be here but luck for me I got the demon of the village. Well looks like I get to kill the demon brat and pen that foolish Inuzuka heir's murder on you." said Mizuki as Mizuki draws a katana ready to fight the blonde. Naruto gets out a pair of sai to fight the rogue chunin.
Naruto and Mizuki get into fighting stances as Kiba is making his way to Konoha.
Naruto and Mizuki engages a fierce battle. Mizuki hoped to overwhelm the blonde but Naruto however surprised the chunin with a surprise combat move that he wouldn't see in the Shinobi ranks. Naruto uses a tumble into Mizuki's overhead swing. From with in his guard he kicks Mizuki's sword out of his hand effectively disarming and then lands a low leg sweep.
"So you got some moves demon let's see if you can take me hand to hand." said Mizuki as Naruto places his Sai back so he could beat the man who has been trying to sabotage him for many years.
The two proceeds to fist fight. Mizuki thinks it would be an easy fight as he taught Naruto a style that was incomplete. But what he doesn't know is that Naruto had completed it and then some. Mizuki dodges a punch which is then flowed up with something he didn't see coming a knee to the groin when he went in for a back fist.
Mizuki for his part falls to the ground in pain at being hit in his family jewels. Mizuki for his part gets up painfully as he scowls at Naruto who is looking back at him with a cold gaze.
"Take this demon brat" said Mizuki as he throws a lightning fast front kick which Naruto dodges and counters with a clinch and leg sweep slamming the Chunin to the gets to his feet in outrage at a newly minted genin kicking ass.
Naruto for his part looks at Mizuki with rage at his traitorous teacher. Without any warning Mizuki is set upon by Naruto who goes on the attack.
Naruto attacks in a boxing style offense that Mizuki is unable to react to as he is getting beaten to a pulp as the blonde sends six jabs, 5 crosses and 10 hooks into the white haired chunin. Mizuki for the second to final time leaps away to cast out jutsus at the blonde which Naruto dodges and counters with shuriken from his own ranged assault as Mizuki gets pieces of his chunin vest shredded from the deadly accurate shuriken throws.
"Ahh that's it you demon time for you to die" said Mizuki as he triggers a seal on his body soon transforming into a human tiger hybrid. The now mutated Mizuki reengages Naruto in one-on-one combat. Naruto is seeing that he is facing something of both a beastly manner of savagery with a human level of intelligence. Naruto employs his highly developed pankration skills to meet Mizuki's savagery and strength.
As the two battle Chunin and some Jonin begins to stumble upon the site of battle. Naruto using his pankration skills manages to pin the mutated Mizuki in an armbar. Naruto seeing as Mizuki is trying to get out of his hold, proceeds to break his arm causing said mutated chunin to scream out in pain. Naruto hits Mizuki with a low spinning heel kick knocking out his teeth.
Naruto lands one last punch knock Mizuki out.
"Are you Anbu going to sit there while I do all the work" said Naruto as he restrains Mizuki with some rope that he has on him as Anbu drop down on the site.
"Very well-done Naruto kun" said Neko as she looks impressed at the blonde's fighting prowess seeing as he defeated a seasoned chunin. "Yeah kid not bad what was that taijutsu you where using it's like the Akimichi style of Yuma." asked Falcon as he looks at Naruto.
"Well it's an old martial art called pankration. It combines boxing and wrestling with kicking and bone breaking skills. It came from two countries known as Greece and Rome used by soldiers known as hoplites and fighters called gladiators." explained Naruto as Falcon is intrigued by the blonde's fighting form and it's history.
"Well interesting but is it always brutal" asked Kuma as he has Mizuki on his back.
"Well it did go underground in both countries due to it's brutal nature especially on the battlefield as some of it's more dangerous techniques such as eye gouging, tearing, biting and less than pleasant groin strikes, As well as it being just too ferocious but that's kind of strange to ban a sport over that." said Naruto in a nonchalant manner as the Anbu sweat drops at the statement about the fighting form.
"Well lets get this bastard back to headquarters" said Kuma as the Anbu Shunshin's to their headquarters with their prisoner.
Naruto heads home with many chunin and jonin looking in awe at the blonde with some looking at him with disgust as he walks home in triumph in the first of his many battles
The next day
Naruto is getting ready his outfit like before only with a leaf armband and the main headband being with the Kanji for heaven's will. Walking out of his home he can't help but feel someone watching him from a distance.
A distance away the ascended sage Hayato Furinji is watching Naruto from a distance.
'Hmm one day me and you young Uzumaki will meets for I will test your skill in courage for the battle of the future. But first I will give him something to remember, ' thought Hayato as he looks at Naruto walking towards the Academy as he follows from a distance in a different form a form of a Tibetan Mastiff Naruto met years ago. Naruto looks to see the same Mastiff that has allowed him to regain control of his life. He smiles at said dog and goes inside of the academy to get his team assignment.
As naruto walks inside of his class room everyone turns to see Naruto in a new outfit. Ino for her part looks Naruto up and down at his outfit's design and great. 'Wow sense when does Naruto look this good without that jump suit.' thought Ino as she admires his forearms as they have his bracers that are distinctive of a grappler type martial artist.
Sasuke is looking at Naruto with a great deal of jealousy at the blonde's strength and pressence.
In the Hokage's office.
Hiruzen is in the office with several Jonins to pick out a team of genin for their specialized teams. One such Jonin is one Kurenai Yuhi, a recently minted Kunoichi that has become well renowned for his status as a genjutsu mistress.
'Hmm lets see who would be perfect for my recon team' Thought Kurenai as she looks through the orb looking at each of the genin in question. She sees one Shino Aburame as a good student with his skill in the use of his clan's jutsus and their range while he's also a tactical mind in strategy and deduction. Another candidate is Hinata Hyuga with her Byakugan and Taijutsu. Internally Kurenai is glad that Naruto broke Hinata out of her fascination of him explaining to her that he sees more of a sister figure in her than a love interest even more so he wants Hinata to become a great kunoichi. Kurenai for her part also looks at the aforementioned blonde. 'Hmm Naruto Uzumaki. Good scores, exceptional skills in the area of camouflage ,stealth, tracking, archery and shurikenjutsu. But most interestingly Naruto seems to have extensive training in the field of taijutsu with a form Yugao told me to be a very old form of hand-to-hand fighting. I have never seen such a level of skill and versatility before even Kiba doesn't have this ' Kurenai' as she makes a decision on her team selection.
Walking up to the Hokage she makes her team selection known to him. "Kurenai why would you select Naruto Uzumaki on your recon team certainly he would do better on a combat team than Kiba would" said Hiruzen as he looks curiously at the newly minted Jonin.
"Well it's primarily due to what I have heard about Naruto." said Kurenai as Hiruzen raises an eyebrow to Kurenai's statement as she continues.
"Well it's due to how my team I had in mind was originally set up. As Kiba would have maximized the teams capabilities as it's heavy hitter but I found that it would be ill advised as he has no options for long range combat while Shino is geared towards this asset of his clan, He can possibly be taken out due in part to his clan's weaknesses to pesticides or natural predators of his clan's bugs which would leave Hinata and Kiba as strictly as close range combat duo which would be bad if the situation also evolved long range elements in the field such as highly skilled bowmen and crossbowmen. In Naruto's case he's shown he has variety in not only taijutsu, but also other fields of the shinobi and from what I have heard about the blonde he has more unorthodox fighting tactics due to his many encounters with undesirable elements in the village that has presented in Naruto an uncanny adaptability that is needed for this team. As he could possible turn the tables in any situations that have both melee and ranged combat in the mix and seeing he is well versed as an archer I can see him being a superb asset in long range combat when dealing with aforementioned opposition as well as in missions involving reconnaissance that could turn into combat which would allow us to out fight the opposition in a more guerilla orientated fashion." explained Kurenai as many of the jonin see good reason with the selection.
"Well Kurenai It seems like a good idea but Kakashi already made the selection for Naruto" said Hiruzen as he hopes to use Kakashi's team as a way to control Naruto.
"Hokage sama I would object to this with all due respect as I see the Team dynamic with that selection being too personal for Kakashi." said Kurenai as Kakashi takes offense to Kurenai's statement.
"That's rich coming from the one who pampers the Hyuga heiress like a baby." said Kakashi as he looks at Kurenai in question.
"Well Kakashi at least this is more so for team dynamics than for personal honor or glory" remarked Kurenai in a tone of voice that has a sting of sass. "What's that supposed to mean" asked Kakashi in a assertive tone of voice.
"Perhaps I can help settle this dispute" said Neko as she stands between the two.
"What do you have in mind Neko" asked Hiruzen curious of his Anbu Captain.
"Well I would like to suggest a challenge for this unofficial formation. That would test both versions of Kurenai's team formations to see which is better and to test Kakashi's formation. " answered Neko as Hiruzen seeing no option has to agree.
"Alright this challenge will be on a day two weeks from now" said Hiruzen as seemingly keeping up appearances.
"Now if you two don't mind we have to visit your future student's homes" said Hiruzen as he looks at Naruto in question scowling slightly at the blonde's luck.
Inside of the academy room
Iruka is about to call names for team assignments until Neko walks inside of the room up to Iruka. She whispers in his ear of a slight change that Iruka has to agree with.
"Well class their has been a situation involving team assignments that will be settled with said individuals participating in a combat exercise that will test said Jonin's group formations in dynamics and teamwork. Sasuke, Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Kiba, Shino you six are to report to Anbu headquarters on a Monday two weeks from now" said Iruka as he looks at the six in question who are surprised by this development leaves seeing as they aren't being assigned today.
'Hmm I better train for this at home hopeful my skill and training will serve me' thought Naruto as he goes towards Ichiraku for some ramen and heads to the forest to hunt.
With Hiruzen
Hiruzen, Kakash and Kurenai along with Hamato are walking towards Naruto's home after visiting the other genin's home. Hamato unlocks the door so the Sandaime and his ninja could walk inside. They each examine the home seeing as the home is superbly well equipped and made for the ideal professional shinobi. The ninja trio sees everything from a workout room to the main armory and kitchen which is like a modern home kitchen.
Hiruzen tried to sabotage some of Naruto's security but he was almost found out by the apartment super with a keen eye for any sabotages to his tenant's home.
Timeskip two weeks later.
The Six genin are walking towards Anbu headquarters they check in to the entry station with the Anbu look and keen eye on Naruto. "Hey Naruto, why is every Anbu looking at you" whispered Shino.
"Well I had one time snuck in here and dyed several Anbu who had wronged me" Whispered Naruto as they continued walking towards area 17 of their head quarters. There they are met by Hiruzen, Kurenai, Kakashi and Neko.
"Greetings. I have called you all here to settle a disagreement on team placements between the combat team of Kakashi and the recon team of Kurenai. Neko you have to the floor" said Hiruzen as Neko steps forward.
"Well genin this area will test Kurenai's original team placement of Kiba Inuzuka, Hinata Hyuga and Shino Aubrame and the new formation which places Naruto in the place of Kiba. Then it will be Kakashi's team with Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto. Each Exercise will comprise a particular task for both teams. that will test you as a team as well as individual fighters" said Neko as she hands out training gear.
"This simulation will simulate live combat and recon situations you gear comprises of weapons with key specializations for each group. All blades and projectiles have each shock edges to simulate stab or penetration wound when one person is stabbed, struck or slashed with edge weapons explosives are non lethal." said Neko as Naruto checks his to see he has a crossbow, kunai pouch, and impact and smoke bombs.
"Okay now first up is Kurenai's original team formation your objective is to get gather intel on enemy strength but if spotted you are to engage the enemy, take out any key targets before retreating should any of you be taken down your team will face tougher opposition same goes with the new formation. Kakashi's team will be assaulting said position with information retrieved from the first team formation. The opposition will feature Jonin Hopefuls that are quick and decisive in battle so watch yourselves as if you make a critical mistake tactical points will be taken from you. All lethal jutsu prohibited" said Neko as the simulation with Kurenai's original team begins.
Hinata uses her Byakugan to see a patrol of Jonin hopefuls move around the area of the fortress wall. "Lets take this guy down" whispered Kiba as he moves in to take down the chunin patrolman. However Kiba and Akamaru are taken unawares by said chunin who pins both to the ground after using a substitution however Kiba luckily is taken down by Hinata moving in swiftly to take out the chunin as Shino moves in to cover the other two.
"One point deducted" said Neko as she takes off a point on the first team formation as they continue to move inside using climbing claws. The team make it to the top. However Shino suddenly feels insecticide in the air causing his insects to go wild as the consume to much of his chakra causing him to be weakened.
"Shino" said Hinata as she looks to at her teammate incapacitated. Hinata moving towards Shino moves him towards cover to keep the team from being spotted. Before Hinata could say anything to Kiba he is gone. Hinata sees that Kiba has just taken down a chunin but finds himself detected by 6 Chunin who quickly overwhelm Kiba and his large ningen. Hinata is forced to move Shino to a new hiding spot as Kiba is taken away along with Akamaru. She helps Shino move towards a spot out of sight of anyone and goes to finish the mission leaving Shino in a safe spot. Moving through the fortress Hinata sees the targeted objective of the fortress Hinata moves to get said scroll but soon finds that it's a trap as guards swarm the building, as well as ports for ninja crossbowmen open. Hinata was completely surrounded; she flees the environment and moves to where Shino is only to discover that Shino has been captured. She herself is about to flee until she is pinned by two chunin.
"Well you were right Kurenai this formation was lacking any real bite in expected combat situations. Even so lets see how Naruto makes up this new formation" said Hiruzen as Kiba sits by a nearby bench while Naruto goes out to perform the combat exercise with Hinata and Shino.
Before they could relay anything about the fortress the environment changes. Effectively making any discovery mute.
"Alright let's rock" said Naruto as he and his team moved to a vantage point. Naruto using binoculars looks for weak points in the walls of this new fortress. He moves his sight towards any Chunin level patrols to see any pattern that would provide and opening. Seeing one patrol taking a break with one member break away from said group provides them said chance. Naruto senses around the area for anything to use to misdirection the patrolman in question.
"Wait for my mark and then strike" said Naruto as he proceeds to make a smokeless shadow clone and transform into a rock. Said clone throws the rock disguised Naruto at the Chunin who then catches it. Before the man could makes any retort he is blindsided by Hinata hitting a point on his neck to silence him. Naruto transforming back slams him into the ground with the scissors takedown that is followed up with a hard cross to his face.
"He Yoshi, what's taking so long" said a patrolman as Naruto sets up the knocked out chunin with ninja wire. As the chunin moves close Naruto draws out his training kunai on top of the tree above him while using a camouflage function on his suit to hid himself. The chunin moves within range. Soon Naruto pounces on the man holding the man at knife point. "Scream and your dead" said Naruto as Shino uses his bugs to sense any of the chunin patrol group's movements near them.
"Talk how many are in the fortress," said Naruto as he looks at the man in question.
"I won't talk Konoha dog, do your worst" said the chunin as Naruto sticks the kunai in his ribs and twist it.
The man cries in muffled pain. "If that can cause you pain you don't want to know where I will stick it in next" said Naruto as the man pales at the implications of threat and spills his guts to them.
"Thank you and goodbye" said Naruto as he goes across his throat with said Kunai was eliminating him.
"Okay let's move, we have 60 minutes remaining" said Naruto as his team moves towards the Fortress after hiding the bodies.
Hiruzen, Kurenai and Kakashi are shocked by Naruto's killer instinct at how he killed the man in question without batting an eye after interrogation. While it's simulated they are still surprised at the blonde's readiness to kill.
Naruto draws his bow and takes out two sentries on the wall as Hinata and Shino moves up to the wall. Shino as soon as he gets up to the wall is hit with a sensation of drowsiness as he suddenly falls to the ground unconscious. Hinata and Naruto move to check up on their teammate.
"He's out cold somehow the area is filled with an anesthesia tuned to Shino's bugs and to an extent him." said Hinata as Naruto looks around for any sentries that are making rounds.
"We can't stay here Shino and we can't leave Shino so let's find a hiding place close to the exfil. You guard him I'll go get the intelligence and maybe take out a few targets that would help with allied forces" said Naruto as he looks at Hinata who nods in agreement. Naruto picks Shino up and moves them to an exfil point no one thinks to look for.
Moving through the fortress Naruto finds a perfect place for Hinata and Shino to hide. Naruto sets up several trip mines just in case of anyone finds where his teammates are.
Naruto moves through the fortress while also searching and eliminating any tactical targets in the field. Naruto finds the intelligence behind the fortress to see that it's guarded by a trip mine and crossbowmen. Naruto take inventory of his gear. 'Okay I have 8 impact bombs, 8 Flash bombs, plenty of Kunai and Shuriken, ninja wire, darts and a blowgun, lastly 6 smoke grenades. Okay I can do this' thought Naruto as he throws a flash bomb in the air as soon as the flash bomb was airborne the crossbowmen never knew what hit them as it explodes Naruto leaps over the trip mines grabs the intel and leaves.
"Sound the alarm" said one Chunin as he recovered from the blast and hits a button.
Alarms are sounded as Naruto runs out of the tower. Two guards Spot him tries to block his way until Naruto uses a split kick to knock both chunin away. Another blocks the way out Naruto throws himself in a cannonball type of maneuver that bulldozes the chunin allowing him to escape. the inner workings.
Hinata for her part hears the alarms and gets ready to move Shino. Naruto soon returns to the hiding spot.
"Naruto you made it back did you get the intel" asked Hinata as she sees her friend. Before he could speak Naruto is soon taken down by surprisingly Naruto who places him in a shoulder lock which is followed up by an elbow slam causing the Naruto on the ground to pop revealing an unconscious Chunin.
"Hinata we got to get out of here come on let's get Shino on his feet" said Naruto as he breaks a vile and waves it over Shino's nose. Shino soon awakens. "Thank you Naruto do you have the information" asked Shino as Naruto nods an affirmative to his question.
"Let's get going" said Naruto as he leaps Shino to his feet.
"How Naruto the guards are going to be trailing behind us" said Hinata as she wonders what he has up his sleeve.
"Well Hinata I'll have to draw their attention while you two make your way to the rendezvous point " said Naruto as his unofficial teammates look at him with curiosity. "How will you do that" asked Shino as he wondered what his teammate had in mind for this plan as he hands Shino the scroll full of intel.
"Well it's a good old brawl" said Naruto as Shino and Hinata move away from the hiding spot secretly while Naruto moves into the center.
"Are all the guards here pussies or men because all I see here are pussies" shouted Naruto as he draws in the pissed off chunin in question. Naruto takes down 10 men by himself using what he learned from Azrael in Kapap and Krav Maga on full display using their distinct fighting tactics to manhandle several chunin trying to capture him. From punches, kicks, grapples, disarms to the unorthodox tactics of both form Naruto is fending off several attackers with a masterful ease that gets shocking looks from the viewers as Naruto performs these melee techniques with ease.
"What kind of fighting forms is Naruto using I have never seen any of those before in my life even Anbu don't use such aggressive tactics like these' thought Neko as she see Naruto throws a Chunin into a group as the start to surround him.
Naruto decides to mix it up and starts using Combat Sombo, Choy Li Fut and US Military Combatives in conjunction to his impact bombs doing damage to the opposition as his teammates reach a safe distance away from the Fortress. Hinata and Shino Look back from the hill top to see Naruto taking on multiple chunin by himself easily without slowing in his assault. Naruto, seeing an opponent, takes out a demon wind shuriken and throws it far away from the battleground. As he is fending off the Chunin one chunin leaps to blindside him. Naruto is tackled to the ground as they surround Naruto.
"Hmm so far for your theory Kurena-" Kakashi never got to finish as the pinned Naruto disperses revealing it to be a shadow clone.
The real Naruto is the demon wind shuriken the clone threw which lands near Shino and Hinata as it transforms back into the real Naruto.
Rushing up to them, Naruto regroups with Hinata and Shino.
"Wow Naruto, that was amazing, I never seen such a display of combat skills," said Hinata, greatly amazed by her blonde friend's fighting prowess.
"Yes, those combat techniques are something I have never seen before," said Shino as they moved towards the safe zone.
They make it to the safe zone where they are greeted by Kurenai, Neko, Kakashi and Hiruzen.
"Excellent all you have shown yourselves to be skilled in team combat and dynamics. With you Naruto showing keen leadership qualities, adaptability and variety of skills you're a credit to your class" Kurenai said in appreciation to the blonde's combat abilities.
"Thank you Kurenai sensei I aim for nothing short of excellence" said Naruto as he bows to his possible sensei.
"Okay now that's that let's see how effective Kakashi's team formation fits you" said Hiruzen as secretly he is scowling at Nauto's advanced combat skills and wonder who taught him these skills.
The unofficial team 7 combat formation go onto the field. This time to destroy a small arsenal base.
"Okay Sasuke we need to" "We no I'll move in to crush them all while you back me up dope" said Sasuke interrupting Naruto as he moves to assault an enemy arsenal base. "Pain in the ass" said Naruto pissed beyond belief.
"Don't talk about-" "You want to try me you ignorant slut" said Naruto looking at Sakura with a glare that said say something and find out. This shuts her up. Naruto goes to back up Sasuke in the assault however Sasuke is taken down by a dart courtesy of a chunin that was above him holding a blowgun when tried going for a non lethal fire ball jutsu. Naruto shots him with an arrow, knocking him out of the tree as Naruto the kicks him towards two Chunin.
"The Uchiha boy lacks any sense of the word teamwork. He had rushed headlong into the battle against the enemy without coming up with a plan with his team." said Kurenai as Naruto had to leave Sasuke behind.
"As well as be taken out by a hidden dart using chunin" said Neko as she chimes in as Kakashi shakes with anger at how the blonde who is casually out before Sasuke as if he could do the same to him.
Naruto and Sakura fighting off chunin as they attack or rather Naruto is Sakura was soon killed by a sword user who pounced on her. Naruto then with lock manages to throw an explosive kunai at the armory's massive stockpile of gunpowder triggering an explosion. Allowing the mission to be complete with him being the only survivor.
"Well looks like you get your team Kurenai" said Hiruzen internally angry at another attempt to manipulate Naruto ruined.
"Look like it Hokage sama looks like it" said Kurenai as Naruto walks back with a now awaken Sakura and Sasuke.
Elder Furinji looks on with a smile at the boy being on the right team in his military. 'Well hopefully the boy will be a treat to train in the future afterall a warrior of this time needs a great teacher regardless of gender' thought the elder in mouse form.
Later that day
Naruto and his newly formed team go to lunch to talk to each other about their dreams and goals with Naruto's goal being one of a dedicated martial artist and hand to hand combatant. Kurenai for her part looks at Naruto and sees a rising star in the making as they eat their food.
'Hmm so far your are an incredible mystery Uzumaki Naruto for your skill and ability I can't help but feel a sense of hope from you hopefully you could help young Hinata on her path to glory as you go on yours' thought Kurenai as she eats her sushi.
Inside of the Hokage office
Hiruzen is scowling at the team assignments he wanted Naruto on team 7 to stunt his growth as a ninja so he could control him better. Now he was unable to do so due to Kurenai's interference. Thinking of ways to brain wash Naruto and remove Kurenai as a threat he finds an assassination mission for one Toshi Yakamoto in Lion country an A rank mission he places said mission in the C rank mission pile for Team 8. He calls on Danzo to supply a retrieval team for Naruto after the rest of them are killed by Toshi Yakamoto's missing nin.
'It's now coming to plan hopefully the gaki is that skilled to take on The Reddoraion Group' thought Hiruzen as he looks at the sunset

Okay for those who are wondering why Hiruzen had to entertain the idea of the formations test is quite simple because he needed to maintain order in the military structure sure he would have made things final but that's where he would have problems with the civilian council his allies as they want Sasuke to be strong as possible and with Naruto on Sasuke's team that would be impossible for Naruto's character would attract more attention to Konoha than Sasuke which would cause Sasuke to go rogue. Also if Hiruzen had Kurenai killed he would loose the respect of his troops he is in the command of as Kurenai has a reputation of being a dutiful Kunoichi, killing her without cause would be like ripping out your own liver.
Naruto's training in military martial arts would make sense seeing as they embody both the Satsujinken and Katsujinken principles. Plus, a Ninja in all of his Ethos is a soldier albeit a guerilla type soldier.
Frank taught Naruto specifically Army and Marine Corp Combatives such as the Line, Modern Army Combatives and older methods of military combat that both the army and the marines have forgone for sophisticated techniques.
The Fires of Soldiering is a manual on military combat and doctrine that gave Naruto important insights to combat on the battlefield and military operations it will help Naruto as he goes on.
Naruto's natural spirit energy and chakra had caused his body to undergo a metamorphosis of sorts.
Naruto would most likely figured out the Shadow clone jutsu without the scroll due to the fact that the handsigns are fundamentally the same just with more signs in difference.
Naruto figured out Kurama's name due to Renka teaching him about Chinese and Tibetan culture one of which involved the word Kurama.
