It wasn't the best of days for Acmetropolis today. For some reason, the weather had turned nasty in an instant, as high winds started picking up in the city. And because of them, one of Acmetropolis' satellite dishes was damaged, and close to falling off a skyscraper. All in the city close to it watched as it was close to teetering over the edge. Luckily, Slam was on the job. He used his strength to flip the satellite dish back around, and then carefully put it back in the position from where it broke.
"That's it, now!" Tech called to Ace, who used his Laser Vision to fix the Sattelite Dish's support.
"There we go, that oughta keep Duck from complainin'," Ace said.
"Were done. Now was that so hard?" Tech asked Slam, who was panting after his efforts.
"Thanks a lot, Slam!" Duck sarcastically replied, coming from below as the hatch he had opened sent Slam off the building. "Just in time for me to miss my favorite TV personality of all time, Misty Breeze."
"Duck!" Ace chided as he and tech looked over the edge.
"What?" Duck asked.
"Hey, did somebody lose a Tasmanian Devil?" Chase quipped from below as he and Lexi flew up the side of the building, Rev carrying slam back up to the roof.
"I break more nails picking up after you guys!" Lexi said as the four of them reached the roof. Slam leaped off of Rev's arms and got right in ducks face, grunting angrily at his accident.
"Such language," Duck said, implying Slam was grunting harshly as he quacked away from him.
It was at this moment the seven of them heard a scream. A young woman with green hair wearing a fancy street ensemble suddenly fell out of the sky and into the satellite dish, holding on to the receiving antenna.
"Wait a second, isn't that…?" Chase started to ask.
"Misty Breeze!" Duck finished with hearts in his eyes.
"Don't just stand there, you dolts! Get me out of here!" Misty complained before her hands slipped and she slid off the satellite dish, right into Duck's arms as he teleported perfectly to catch her.
"I'm your biggest fan! Danger Duck, at your service, hot stuff." Duck introduced as Misty stood up out of Duck's arms as she posed for her admirer.
"Thank you. Dont get too close." Misty replied.
The Loonatics and Chase soon jetted off downtown after getting some info from Misty about what happened to her. According to her account, someone attacked her while she was giving her daily weather report, and that was around the time the high winds started picking up. So, the perpetrator might still be at the scene where they sent Misty flying.
"Misty and her crew were Brodcastin' from City Hall Plaza," Ace said.
"I just dont get it. Who would ever want to harm the lovely Misty Breeze?" Duck asked.
"Anybody who's ever met her?" Lexi replied.
"Jealous?" Duck rebutted.
"Loonatics, we're receiving reports that strange weather phenomena are materializing all over the planet." Zadavia chimed in, coming from a large screen.
"Yeah, we noticed," Chase said.
"Say Zadavia, isn't monitoring the weather more of a job for…" Ace started.
"Misty Breeze?" Duck cut in.
"Not this kind of weather. You better move fast, Loonatics. Zadavia, out." Zadavia ordered as the Loonatics and Chase jetted off.
They soon arrived at City Hall Plaza, where Slam freed a producer from his trailer, albeit a bit roughly, which Slam grunted in apology for.
"Paula… assistant… the script…Misty…wet hair….crazy weather…" the producer mumbled, chuckling in a mix of confusion and a slight snap of sanity. "Storm…Misty gone!"
"Slow down and think there, buddy. We're gonna need an accurate description. Do you happen to see who assaulted Misty?" Chase asked. "Any hints of where she is?"
"Here's one… look!" Lexi called, directing everyone's attention upwards.
"No stealing my thunder, Loonatics!" A female voice echoed, as on the top of a building there was a young woman with dark blue skin and purple hair dressed in a black cloak and encased in some kind of energy sphere. Purple lightning seemed to crackle around her. "Back off!"
"That's her!" the producer confirmed.
"Cloud Creatures put these heroes in a fog!" the woman called. Purple clouds suddenly started rolling in from above, as more of them surrounded the ground, forming into a group of monsters that enclosed the Loonatics and Chase.
"Amazing!" Tech marveled.
"Was this in the forecast?" Ace asked.
"Oooh, scary clouds. What, she gonna stop us from getting a tan?" Duck asked sarcastically before one of the Cloud Creatures grabbed him, actually gripping him despite the displacement in mass. "Maybe stop us from breathing?"
"Okay Chief, what's the plan?" Tech asked.
"Kick some cloud!" Ace ordered.
"I can't believe you just said that…." Chase said in disbelief.
Ace shrugged off Chase's comment and jumped up, kicking one of the Cloud Creatures in the face. The attack proved to be ineffective, however, and while Ace couldn't physically connect with his opponent, the latter could as it grabbed Ace by the leg and held him upside down.
"Hey, watch the foot! It's lucky!" Ace chided. Slam quickly came to his rescue and chomped down on the cloud creature's arm, setting him free as the big guy spat out the air it came from. The woman controlling these creatures manipulated one of them to tackle Slam to the ground after that.
"Heres-something-you-dont-see-on-a-sunny-day-I-could-be-wrong-but-it-looks-like-they're-alive-how-is-that-possible-clouds-are-just-for-making-rain-no-striking-terror-in-the-heart-of-the-city!" Rev noted while running circles around a Cloud Creature, only to have his momentum cut off when he was tripped up and sent stumbling.
"A present for ya, via Duck Mail!" Duck said, throwing a power orb in vain as it passed right through the Cloud Creature holding him. All the while, the creature's master observed the fighting from above.
"Let's pump up the clouds and bring in the fog!" she said as a fog rolled in on her command, obscuring the team's vision.
Chase and Lexi were back to back dodging one cloud creature, and the fog was working to its advantage, keeping itself obscured.
"Yoo-hoo, puffy boy?" Lexi asked before she was hit by the cloud creature and sent back a bit. "There you are!"
The cloud creature also attacked Chase as he dodged with less ease than Lexi, and tried to retaliate with a blast from his cannon, but like the other shots, it just passed right through.
Ace broke free of the creature having his way with him using his laser vision, but he got a bit too trigger-happy and on his next blast, ended up zapping his teammate in the fog.
"Yeow-how-ow-ow!" Tech cried as he jumped in the air, his tail having just been burnt.
"Whoops! Very sorry there, Tech." Ace apologized.
"Agh, nothing we're doing is working! We just keep passing through them!" Chase called as Rev zipped up to Ace.
"And-my-internal-radar-can't-distinguish-whats-a-creature-and-whats-in-the-fog-and-its-getting-pretty-hard-to-avoid-thier-grip-!" Rev suddenly gagged as a Cloud creature grabbed him and pulled him away.
"Whaddya say we help 'em out, Slam?" Ace asked Slam, the big guy responding in kind, spinning into Tornado mode as he fought back against the cloud creatures, and with his high velocity, was able to dispel the fog. "Slam 1, Cloud none."
The woman screamed in Rage that her momentum from the fog was stifled. "Clouds of thunder destroy them!" she called as Slam retreated into the air to disperse the fog.
Lexi meanwhile backflipped away from the Cloud Creature she was engaging before spotting a hydrant she leaped off in her sequence. Getting an idea, she zapped the hydrant with her Brain Blast, making it burst and causing all the water to slam right into the Cloud Creature, inflating it.
"Clouds absorb water!" Lexi remembered. "And to think I only got a B in Science."
"Yeah, it's good to remember that stuff, but is it a good idea to make an enemy larger?" Chase asked.
"On the contrary, Lexi may have just found an exploitable weakness." Beat piped in. "Just watch and see."
Chase and Lexi then watched as the Cloud Creature's body inflated for a while before lightning crackled inside it as it suddenly burst into a normal cloud, releasing all the stored-up water in the form of rain.
"Whoa…" Lexi marveled.
"Now I get it. Fill up a cloud with enough water, and it precipitates to release it." Chase said. "Score one for science."
"Indeed," Beat said.
"Ooh! I-wanna-try-that-lemme-try-it-I-wanna-try-it-here-goes!" Rev cut in, not waiting for anyone's permission and dashing into the fountain, kicking some water into another cloud creature and breaking it apart just like the last one.
"Let's make it Rain, beat!" Chase said, interested in joining in on the fun.
"Manifesting suitable weapon for dispatch," Beat said as Chase's arm manifested a new type of cannon, a double-barreled one with a connecting pump and blue lines around it. When fired, it shot a stream of pressurized water at a cloud creature Ace was distracting as it broke up too.
"And me without my Slicker." Ace quipped to Chase said.
"Water egg, please! Praying for a water egg, water egg…!" Duck hoped as he manifested a power orb and shoved it into his captor's mouth. It soon burst open, making the Cloud Creature burst with orange liquid as it faded away, duck tasting his saving grace. "Mmm… orange juice will do the trick too."
"Pesky duck!" the woman above called, blasting a bolt of lightning Duck's way as he jumped into Slam's arms. "You may have won this round Loonatics, but I'm the star here!" she declared as a Cameraman, likely from Misty's film crew came up. "Keep that camera pointed a me, I've got breaking news! Hear me, Acmetropolis! I am Weathervane, and tonight there is a 100% chance… of DESTRUCTION!" she announced as lightning crashed, it being brought down on the Loonatics as they sidestepped each bolt.
"Weathervane? Is that really what she's going with as her villain name?" Chase couldn't help but ask.
"I'd advise taking her seriously. Analysis shows this woman can do more than just create minions made of clouds." Beat said.
"Here's a newsflash for you Loonatics, and it's a real shocker!" Weathervane declared, another bolt of lightning striking down on them. Tech acted fast and activated a lightning rod on his backpack which funneled the electricity to him, saving Chase and his teammates, but shocking him into atoms.
"Nice lightning rod, Tech. That's definitely gonna earn you some vacation time." Ace praised as Tech regenerated.
"Can I take it right now?" Tech asked.
"Not really the best time for it, considering we've got a major problem here," Chase said.
"Correct. Based on the analysis, Weathervane has the power of extreme atmokinesis." Beat said.
"Atmokinesis, what?" Chase asked.
"She can manipulate the weather," Lexi answered.
"Which is a bad thing, got it." Chase nodded.
"All the elements are at my command. I dont need to report the story, I am the story!" Weathervane laughed before looking at the cameraman. "Make sure you get this. It'll make everyone forget about Misty Breeze."
"Forget about Misty Breeze?" Duck scoffed. "Why I'd sooner forget… well, what's her name here."
"Weathervane, Duck. Jeez, is she that hard to remember?" Chase asked.
"Time for you to be gone with the wind!" Weathervane declared as she attacked the group again, this time with a massive tornado that blew them all off their feet and spun them into the air. Ace was able to save himself by grabbing onto a pole and spinning out of the windstorm, landing safely. Slam on the other hand was sent flying into a monument as he implanted into it, relatively unharmed.
Duck wasn't so lucky, however, as he tried Quacking out of the tornado, but in his haste and dizziness, actually ended up inside a television screen, and rather awkwardly. "Look Mommy, I'm on TV…" he groaned.
"You're on, Slam!" Ace called to Slam, the big man relishing in the challenge as he went tornado himself and bashed against Weathervane's creation.
"Ace, help!" Lexi called from inside the tornado. Ace quickly acted and used his grappling hook to pull Lexi out.
"Gotcha!" Ace said.
"Thanks!" Lexi replied.
Meanwhile, Tech, Rev, and Chase were still spinning around inside the tornado.
"Not-liking-this!" Rev called as Tech soon used his grappling hook, catching Rev and Chase and pulling them out of the tornado himself.
"Thanks, Tech. But I think Ace was gonna get us next." Chase said.
"I got impatient." Tech winked.
With his teammates clear, Slam was free to do his thing, forcing the Tornado away from city hall and into the city streets. Crashing it into a building, he was finally able to disperse it, and despite the property damage, the civilians watching Slam cheered for him, the hero responding to the revelry. Needless to say, Weathervane was not happy about the results.
"They defeated my clouds, my lightning, my tornado…. But can they defeat all of them at once?!" Weathervane asked. "I release all the forces of elements upon you, Acmetropolis! Bring me Misty Breeze, or start building an Ark!"
With that, Weathervane summoned a massive storm that covered every inch of the city, flooding the streets and causing widespread destruction. The team moved to save as many lives as they could, coming across a Monorail destroyed by the heavy storm that was close to falling into the water.
The Loonatics acted fast. Slam used his strength to support the Monorail, backed by Tech's magnekinesis. While they did that, Ace repaired the other side of the tracks with his laser vision, and Lexi blasted away the rubble with her Brain Blast. Once the track was cleared and fixed, the Monorail was set down and Slam brought it to a halt.
"Good job, Slam!" Ace praised as Slam flailed his hands to cool them down. Meanwhile, Ace got the monorail doors open to free the civilians. "So, who ordered the Acme Heroes?" he asked as the crowd inside the train cheered.
Once their safety was assured, the team regrouped back at the city hall plaza to face Weathervane down.
"Box her in! One of us from each side, go!" Ace directed. The seven of them jetted upwards to the building, ideally boxing in the villain. "Alright Weathervane, your forecast calls for-!"
"Ahhh! Dont hurt me!" Weathervane's cameraman called, being the only one there instead of her.
"Ah, I didn't even get to finish my line…" Ace complained. "Where'd she go?"
"I dunno! She just flew off and vanished!" the cameraman replied.
"Hey Rev, does yer radar show anybody else in danger?" Ace asked as they flew over the city.
"Well-a-lotta-wet-people-but-nobody-in-danger-unless-you-count-soggy-underwear-in-danger." Rev replied.
"We should evacuate the Area," Ace suggested.
"The whole area? Why?" Lexi questioned.
"I got a little feelin' something big is coming," Ace said.
Just then, Zadavia appeared behind Slam's jetpack. "Suspicions confirmed, Ace," she said as Slam grunted in question. "There's an unnatural energy force brewing with intensity 35 miles off the Acmetropolis coast. All efforts to contain Weathervane have failed."
Due to Zadavia's warning, the Loonatics and Chase soon took off looking for Weathervane outside Acmetropolis' city limits. However, Duck was nowhere among the team.
"With all this water, we could sure use a Duck," Lexi said, noting first that Duck was missing.
"Yeah… where is Duck?" Ace asked.
To answer Ace's question, Duck was pursuing Weathervane directly on a Hoverboard.
"Duck, where are you?" Ace asked over ducks comm.
"I'm on a personal mission!" Duck replied.
"Personal? Duck, we dont do-" Ace started before Duck ended the transmission.
"Anyone who insults Misty Breeze…. Insults Danger Duck!" Duck declared, speeding off.
"Agh, I bet Ducks setting himself up to get roasted." Chase theorized. "He's gonna set Weathervane off even more."
"How do y'figure?" Ace asked.
"Whoever this Weathervane was before, she hates Misty Breeze and wants to be in the spotlight instead of her," Chase said.
"And ducks a Misty superfan! He's gonna set off a bomb!" Lexi realized.
"Wed better hurry and back him up before Duck gets in over his head," Ace added as they raced off to Duck's position.
However, they were going to be too late to stop Duck, as he was already far ahead of them as he caught up to Weathervane and quickly got in her fave.
"Scuse me, Bubblehead! But as Misty Breeze's biggest fan, I'm gonna ask that you apologize to her right now!" Duck demanded.
"Misty Breeze?! She is nothing compared to me!" just as Chase predicted, Weathervane got ticked off at hearing Misty's name come out of Duck's beak, which didn't bode well for him as Weathervane blasted lighting from her hands at him.
"Well, somebody has an Ego…" Duck replied, not like he was one to talk, but he was cut off anyway after Weathervane's lightning struck the water and caused a wave to surge. "And a temper…!"
The wave crashed down on Duck, sending him underwater. But due to his aquatic nature, he wouldn't stay down there for very long, jetting back up to the surface to retaliate.
"I am Queen of the Elements, a Weather Goddess!" Weathervane laughed, too caught up in her bravado to notice Duck surfacing and was too late to counter a roundhouse kick from the Loonatic that sent her spinning backward.
"Didja see that coming, Misty Hater?!" Duck asked.
"You again?!" Weathervane asked.
"Nobody disses Misty Breeze, or else you answer to the Vice President and founding member of her international fan club!" Duck retaliated.
"I answer to none because I-!"
"Excuse me, Miss Partly Cloudly, youve had your moment, I'm trying to expound here!" Duck interrupted.
"I've heard ENOUGH!" Weathervane exclaimed, finally having enough as dark clouds surrounded her as she transformed into a new terrifying form… a ferocious, dark-scaled dragon!
"Well, there's something you dont see every day…" Duck admitted.
"Duck, what are you doing, wheres Weathervane?!" Lexi asked as the rest of the team finally came to the scene.
"I hope that's not her…" Ace said, first noticing the dragon Weathervane had turned into as she laughed from within the dragon's form.
"It just had to be a dragon as her final form…" Chase said.
The Storm Dragon scattered the heroes with a breath of Lightnin, before soaring back to the city.
"The Dragon is heading back to Acmetropolis!" Lexi called.
The dragon started destroying everything in sight with its lightning, But Tech was able to save the civilians from a falling metal tower by using his Magnetism to bend it into a safer shape.
"A busted fire hydrant is not gonna take that thing out," Lexi said to Ace, who was overlooking the situation.
"Weathervane is definitely inside that dragon somewhere, but I can't tell if she's using those dark clouds to form it, or if she transformed into the thing," Chase said. "Is there any way to defeat it?"
"There is, Chase. The dragon's cloud-based body can be dispelled via direct contact with an extremely powerful heat source." Beat informed.
"That's gonna be tough to find in the city, and I dont see one around here since everything is soaked. Unless…" Chase said as he looked at Rev. "Rev, are there any spots close to the city that pack some major heat?"
"Oh-baby-do-I-have-a-firey-hotspot-for-you-guys-this-is-gonna-burn-the-hair-off-if-you-get-too-close-man-this-place-is-SCORCHIN!" Rev said.
"Got it! We just need some bait." Tech said before everyone turned to one individual in particular.
"Why is everybody looking at me?" Duck asked before realizing. "Lemme guess… me again?"
"You catch on quick, seeing how this situation is kinda your fault," Chase said.
"It is entirely his fault, dont lie," Beat remarked.
The team was directed to a small volcanic Island a bit of a ways away from the city, while Rev and Duck focused on luring Weathervane there. Tech had a plan to use the Volcano's heat against her dragon form that involved some kind of large bomb.
"Are you sure this'll work, Tech?" Chase said.
"If the Lava Depth Charge is in sync with the targeting mechanism, there should be enough combustion-" Tech started.
"English, tech!" Ace interrupted.
"Yeah, it should go boom." Tech shortened his explanation.
"That's all we need," Ace assured. "And that'll activate the volcano?"
"Your guess is as good as mine," Tech admitted as the group landed on the island.
"Hey guys, it's showtime." Lexi reminded as a rumble signaled the arrival of the other half of the plan.
"Misty predicted the weather, not nightmares!" Duck taunted as he was being pulled along the water by Rev, being chased by Weathervane in dragon form. "Well, look at the mighty Storm Dragon, acting all big and superior! Lemme tell you something, dragon lady, Misty's still #1 in my charts!"
Ducks taunts were working a little too well as the Storm Dragon fired off large balls of hail at the pair. Rev saw this coming and did some quick maneuvers to evade, keeping Duck safe as well.
"Whoa, missed me! Whoo-hoo, missed me again, and again! Whoa, bad aim!" Duck called. "Is that as fast as you can go? You're such a sad excuse for a monster, much less a weather girl, ho-ho, pathetic!"
"Okay, who's lugging this thing up to the volcano to set it off?" Chase asked, looking at the Lava Depth Charge, which looked to be extremely heavy.
"Slam can withstand the heat better than any of us," Tech said, which got the big man's attention. "Take this up there, and when I say "now", push this red button and throw it into the volcano. Got that? "Now"," he explained.
Slam seemed to get it as he grunted in confirmation, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Misinterpreting Tech's repeated instruction as his actual cue, he reached to press the depth charges activation button.
"SLAM!" Lexi and Tech cried to stop him, but were too late, as Slam pressed the button.
"Detonation in 30 seconds," the computer on the depth charge announced as the countdown started.
"No, not "now" now, "now" later!" Tech corrected.
Slam tried to correct his mistake by stopping the countdown by pressing the button again, but unfortunately, he didn't know his own strength, and ripped the button right off, smiling sheepishly afterward.
"17…16…" the countdown continued.
"Just get it up there!" Ace directed. Slam did so as he picked up the depth charge, grunting as if to say, "Alright, Alright!", as he hurried to the mouth of the volcano.
While Slam was racing against the clock, Weathervane was being led still into the trap.
"You want Misty, you bag of wind? Catch me!" Duck continued to goad.
"Yeah, Duck!" Rev cheered.
Slam was able to reach the volcano's mouth and toss the Lava Depth Charge into the lava below with 10 seconds remaining. All that was left was for the Storm Dragon to fly right over the volcano to spring the trap. Thanks to ducks insults the dragon pursued them all the way ashore as Rev dropped Duck off at the mouth of the Volcano, the latter hampered a bit by the heat. Just when the storm Dragon flew to catch him, Duck quacked away at the last second just as the depth charge was about to blow.
"Chance of explosion: 100%!" Duck called as the depth charge exploded, causing the volcano to erupt, the lava hitting the dragon dead on.
"Direct hit!" Chase cheered.
"I advise we vacate the area," Beat advised, accounting for the eventual flow of Lava.
"Yeah, good thinking." Chase agreed.
Despite the storm Dragon's last-ditch attempt at blasting the Loonatics with wind and lightning, the creature created from Weathervane's rage eventually succumbed to the heat from the volcano and dispersed in a massive eruption. Lava immediately flowed down the island, and as the heroes were evacuating, Tech realized he had forgotten something.
"My Porta-Lab! I just built it!" Tech remembered, referring to the ship he flew to the island on.
"Forget the Porta-Lab, Tech, let's jet!" Ace insisted as they got moving and off the island just as the lava washed over it, including Tech's invention, much to his horror.
"My Porta-Lab, destroyed!" Tech cried as nature ran its course. "It never harmed anyone!"
"Wow, Tech needs to get out more, huh?" Chase asked.
"Gee, ya think? Never woulda guessed." Ace replied, catching on to it as well as the team left the cooling island behind.
Chase and the Loonatics soon returned to Acmetropolis and landed back in City Hall Plaza, where things all started with Weathervane.
"Im picking up Zadavias signal." Lexi noted as Zadavia appeared on one of the screens of Misty's production truck.
"There are no traces left of the Storm Dragon, but what happened to Weathervane remains a mystery," Zadavia reported as Misty Breeze came out of the production truck. "We can only assume she escaped. Good job, Loonatics. Zadavia-"
"Who is this?!" Misty interrupted as she cut off Zadavia prematurely and ended her transmission herself. "I'm the only pretty face on this channel!"
"Misty! This is my chance!" Duck realized that she was in his sights again.
Seeing how stuck up Misty was, Chase could see that in some ways, Weathervane's anger towards Misty was valid. So he got an idea right then and there.
"Yknow, what Duck? Go for it." Chase recommended. "You deserve it after defending her honor before."
"You're right Chase, I for sure deserve it!" Duck agreed as he headed off to interrupt Misty, just as she was reporting the passing of Weathervane's storm.
"What exactly are you doing Chase?" Beat asked. "All you're doing is giving Misty the attention Weathervane was so aggravated over."
"(True… but sometimes a big star in the industry can't handle someone whos really obsessed with them.)" Chase thought as he and the other Loonatics watched as after Duck got Misty's autograph, he soon literally showered her with tons of other memorabilia and items he had in his collection of her. "(Turns out, one biggest fan is enough to drive someone completely nuts.)"
"Hm. Very appropriate, considering Duck is most likely the only one infatuated with her that much," Beat remarked.
"So very true." Chase smiled. "C'mon guys, let's go."
"Yeah, maybe we should leave those two lovebirds alone," Ace smirked as the Loonatics left, Misty huffing at being left at the mercy of her biggest, and most likely only fan on the planet, Danger Duck.
