Chapter 81: Epoch VS the Insect Combo

"The*Dragias attacks Bean Soljersey! STRIKING LIGHT BULLET OF THE*EXPLOSIVE SUPREMACY!"

"1000 damage, jersey!" (George LP 3000 ↓ 2000)

"The Great King's second The*Dragias' direct attack! DRAGON KING STRIKE OF THE*ANNIHILATIVE SUPREMACY!"

"2500 DAMAGE, JER~!" (George LP 1700 ↓ 0)

"No matter the opponent, Rush Duels allow us to convey the messages in our hearts."

This lesson, despite Yudias not being present to teach it, was a lesson the Great King and Yudias' student discovered for themselves. Despite his present state, the Great King remained a formidable opponent, reverting a slew of the Alien Residential Area's residents to their original forms no-handedly through the power of Rush Duels.

Playing "spot the difference" as Yuhi had done was tedious. Attacking into the hearts of other Duelists proved markedly more effective in dispelling Kuaidul's illusions.

But how can a massage chair Rush Duel, you might ask? A massage chair with such a feature is like something out of Kuaidul's space-time, the very fiction they were trying to wake everyone up from!

If that guy had 1000 yen in cash from Mimi for every time a massage chair became a Duelist, he'd have two 1000 yen banknotes. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

That's assuming Yuga showed up in the proper frame of mind, and didn't pull a disappearing act as was his norm.

Nonetheless, the assistance of Yudias' allies vastly accelerated the process, where UTS returning everyone to normal would have been a herculean task had Yudias, Yuhi, and Yuamu gone it alone.

"You there! Chair! You've caused quite the stir down here! How about you and I have a Rush Duel?"

"That's cool. But why not duel Epoch here?"

"Epo? M~me, epo?

"Epoch. Have a look at this and feel better, yeah?"

The Great King's oft-repeated recommendation wasn't as chilling when a glance at his incredibly boring manga wasn't the pick-me-up awarded.

"You're givin' me a card? I don't need it! I don't want it! Pu-puku-pu!" Epoch replaced a monster in her Deck for the card anyway.

"Good luck."

"Plucky rookie, Kamijo Epoch!"

"Gasser alien, Mattoon!"

"Mhm? Were Gassers always this human?" The*Luge turned pensive. The Gasser's human (yet still menacing) appearance must have been the result of Kuaidul's space-time; the plethora of Deck boxes on the Gasser's clothes, a result of Kuaidul's space-time as well.

"GO RUSH!"

"My turn, epo! Draw! I summon three Dice Demons! I release two monsters to Advance Summon! What's gonna happen~? What're we rolling~? Dice Archdemon! It's the worst~!" (Level 7 DARK Demon/Effect ATK 2400 DEF 1500)

Going first had its drawbacks. Her opponent had no monsters to debilitate with her Dice Archdemon's effect.

"I set one card and end my turn, epo!"

"My turn! Draw! I summon Kuwagata α and Delirium Papillon, and activate the Magic Card, Intrude Beetle! If two or more face-up Insect-Type monsters are on the field, by sending one card from my hand to the Graveyard, I draw one card, then I can destroy one Magic or Trap Card on your field!"

"Idiot!" KGC's heiress' insult blared from her yellow megaphone.

"Your luck's run out! I send Dramoth Larva to the Graveyard!" The Gasser destroyed Epoch's set Demon's Dice. "During the turn Dramoth Larva is sent to the Graveyard, I can activate its effect! Your Dice Demon is changed to Defence Position, and by also changing Delirium Papillon to Defence Position, I draw a card!"

A parasite exploded out of Dice Demon, making it an Insect-Type this turn.

"I release Delirium Papillon to Advance Summon Hercules Beetle!" (Level 5 EARTH Insect/Normal ATK 1500 DEF 2000)

"Epo? 2000 DEF in Attack Position, epo?"

"Playtime's over, little girl! With Kuwagata α and Hercules Beetle as material…FUSION!"

"Oh no."

"Viciousness and size crossbreed to hatch the toughest carapace and most dangerous horn! Fusion Summon! Kwagar Hercules!" (Level 6 EARTH Insect/Fusion ATK 1900 DEF 1700)

"A Fusion Monster? NOOO!" Epoch fumbled for her signs with the exclamation points on them.

"Next comes Kwagar Hercules' pest control equipment! I equip Kwagar Hercules with the Equip Magic, Firearms-Attached Insect Armour! This card can only be equipped to an Insect-Type monster, and that monster gains 700 ATK!"

A shoulder-mounted laser cannon blinked into existence atop Kwagar Hercules' shell. (ATK 1900 ↑ ATK 2600)

"Battle! Kwagar Hercules, attack Dice Archdemon! LEVEL 5 GUN SHOT!"

"200, epo!" (Epoch LP 4000 ↓ 3800)

"Turn end!"

"It's no use. I can't win against that monster, epo-po…"

"Epoch," The*Luge said calmly, gracing her with 80053+ years of experience.

That's right. Yudias wouldn't give up, epo. She rose on her green gumboots. "It's not as though I wanna take after my family tutor, idiot! My turn, epo! Draw!"

She drew it! She drew it! The Great King's card!

"I summon two Dice Angels! I release two monsters to Advance Summon! Dimension dice! Emerge, God Orgoth!" (Level 7 EARTH Warrior/Effect ATK 2500 DEF 2450)

"God…Orgoth?"

"God Orgoth's effect! I roll a die three times!"

"What?"

"Here I go!" Epoch pushed off her palm, rolling herself as the die. Rolling 6 all three times…because she cheated. "I win! God Orgoth's gains ATK and DEF equal to the total x 100, and can't be destroyed by battle or card effects until the end of your turn! I draw two cards, and God Orgoth can attack directly this turn, epo!" (ATK 2500 ↑ ATK 4300)

"HE HAD THAT EFFECT?"

"God Orgoth, attack the player directly, epo! DIAMOND BLADE!"

(Mattoon LP 4000 ↓ 0)

The Mad Gasser was an interstellar kriminal. Then a revolutionary. Then a well-adjusted individual living out a lighter sentence in the Alien Residential Area at Phaser's behest.

But he wasn't human.

Now, he was a big bug again, clicking rather than vocalizing recognizable speech.

Epoch found her "Yes!" sign.

There's a reason she waved it twice.
