Summary:
There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.
Chapter 88: The Crystal Rot
"I've solved this riddle." Zuwijo turned from Phaser and Tremolo. "Kuaidul's Deck isn't complete yet."
"Eh?" Yuamu and Yuhi blinked as one.
"What do you mean?" Yudias questioned.
"In a newly made Deck, cards often don't follow the strategies you have planned."
"That's it! That's why Kuaidul was fine-tuning his Deck by switching out cards!"
"And that had an influence on us!"
"Right!"
"Everyone being thrown into chaos is not because of our wills, but Kuaidul fine-tuning his Deck," Zuwijo reiterated.
Yuamu held her hips. "And with that, everything adds up!"
"Not everything, chupa!"
"Chupataro?" Yuhi gaped. "Wha-what's with those wounds?"
Chupataro tumbled out of his robot into Yuhi's arms. "Chupa avoided the worst of it, chupa. George wasn't so lucky, cabra."
Poor unfortunate soul.
"George? Where is he? What's goin' on?"
"We were about to duel MIK's Astronomical Observation Division to find an exit ramp to Kuaidul's Deck, chupa…"
"Which we now know was Kuaidul reselecting cards for his Deck," Yuamu interjected.
"Ishida suddenly stopped and challenged Chupa and George to a Triangle Rush Duel, chupa," Chupataro coughed. "But something wasn't right with him, chupa! He played a monster Chupa's never seen before, and beat George in just one turn, cabra!"
"A One Turn Kill?"
"It was a monster made of crystal! After taking the direct attack, the crystal came off of it and completely covered George, chupa! Just like that, he was gone, chupa!"
"Crystal?" That seemed to ring a bell for Zuwijo.
"Yes! Crystal, chupa! Chupa only got away because there was this energy surge that fried Chupa's Duel Disk, cancelling the Duel and allowing Chupa to escape, cabra!"
"Then how'd ya get these wounds?"
"The crystal wasn't Solid Vision…It was still there after the Duel, and started chasing Chupataro, chupa!"
"Chased you?"
"It cut through a tree trying to attack Chupa, and the tree grazed Chupa on its way down, chupa!"
"What the? Was this also cuz of Kuaidul?"
"No," Zuwijo responded to Yuhi. "It's probably –"
"Summon! I summon Abysspiny Turtle!" (Level 3 LIGHT Sea Serpent/Effect ATK 1000 DEF 1100)
"Chu? Tremolo and Phaser are duelling, cabra?"
"They are. This is their second Duel. Best two out of three."
"I release Abysspiny Turtle to Advance Summon my cuties! My cuties! Abysskite Miracle Girls!" (Level 6 LIGHT Sea Serpent/Effect ATK 800 DEF 0)
"Nooooo~! He has the three of us on one card too!"
"We're reporting him to HR!"
"Phaser-sama~!"
"WHY ARE THE SUPER MAXIMUM TREMOLO GIRLS ON TREMOLO'S FIELD, CHUPA?"
"We're the Super Maximum Phaser Girls, you slime!" Liem protested.
"No, you aren't! You aren't!" Tremolo rattled about. "You're my secretaries! Not Niisan's! Not Niisan's! This is all Kuaidul's –!"
"Gross, chupa."
"GROSS!" Karen, Liem, and Ange screamed.
"It's not! It's not gross at all! You sanctimonious shit! You have no right to criticize me for my cuties! No right! Not when you have Magical Sheep Crossdresser 'Spaghetti Biceps' Yuhi in your Deck! So much so it was him on your shirt and not Meeeg-chan when Kuaidul put us in his! At least my Ace is Abysskite Ray Monochrome! At least my Ace is a Trap Card!"
"Ew! Another sicko?" Ange wailed, the voice Kuaidul poached like an octopus from a mermaid for Yuhi's in the space-time.
"Gross!"
"Spaghetti biceps? I don't have –!" Yuhi was offended. "Though…He's got ya there, Chupataro."
"You were happy it was you and not Meeeg-chan, cabra!"
Yuhi's back straightened. Recognition as Chupataro's Ace was the one ray of sunshine in the bleak horror they'd been conscripted as cards into Kuaidul's Deck.
Yuamu chuckled, "He's got you there, Yuhi."
"The way I held back from jabbing you…I really wanted to! I really wanted to!" Tremolo would have been shaking a fist had he still had one.
"Low-quality kotatsu don't have arms, chupa! You don't have anything to jab Chupa with, chupa!"
"But all kotatsu do not have arms," a dumbfounded Yudias said, to the twins' groans.
Be that as it may, Manabu sprang from Tremolo's blanket, rushed across the field in tights shouting "Wait, wait, wait, wait!", and jabbed Chupataro for Tremolo.
"CHU-UPA~!"
"Manabu! Lay off! Chupataro's already wounded!" Yuhi formed a human shield around Chupataro too late.
"Manabu-chan…" Nyandestar ducked her head and flattened her ears under her paws. She couldn't get any lower.
Manabu wasn't doing his in-the-gutter reputation any favours after the General Study fiasco.

"Alien radiation discharging. Primary circuits affected."
"My space-time. My Deck has become infested." Kuaidul tapped keys on the Relic's round keyboards. Multiple cards on his scrolling vertical display were glitching, outlined with amethyst-coloured rectangles to denote their corruption. A corruption wrought by a single card among the 40.
Removing a tainted card and substituting in an untainted card would not be difficult. All he had to do was forego a Rush Duel between an affected individual and intended alternative. But the corruption wasn't restricted to the 40. It was only a matter of time before his card pool shrank.
A trendy tropical underwater pool party night, that wouldn't be, exhausting all viable Deck options.
Kuaidul followed the trail back through White Panda with Not-White Tail (Yeti Yukio), Dynakit Full Scratchyranno (Mokeida Mbembe), and Chaos Soljersey (George Jersey), ending on Stone Machine Gareking (Glatt Ishida).
"This one realized he's in my space-time, but…The signal I detected before. It was what woke him."
Kuaidul lost Luck of the 7 (Nomuratodamas) to an amethyst-coloured rectangle.
Is it a natural disaster or something else? Whatever it is, the creatures it's altered continue to roam free. The rot continues to spread, and something else seems to be forming within the domain as well.
