Six months have passed since the Christmas debacle and it was a very peaceful Saturday in the Demon Realm at the Owl House. Eda was busy sleeping in her nest with her roommate/romantic partner, Raine Whispers.
She was currently snuggling up to them with her hand on their chest while they were stroking her hair. They kissed her on the head, causing her to moan with admiration.
"Morning Rainestorm." Eda kissed their hand.
"Are you excited?" Raine asked.
"Oh yeah, I sure as Titan am excited." Eda smiled. "First day off in over three months and you get to spend it with your Owl Lady. Honestly, why have you gotta work with those guys?"
Raine glanced from left to right. "Uh…So we don't have another Belos…"
"I'm sure, Darius and Eberwolf can handle one day without you." Eda assured them.
Meanwhile, Darius and Eberwolf were in a forest getting into a fight with a few Belos supporters. Darius slammed a former Coven scout's head into the ground while Eberwolf was beating another with a stick.
Another jumped on Darius' back, before he managed to throw them off. "These Belos supporters won't stop coming!"
Eberwolf was being strangled by another, bigger and tougher Scout that he managed to free himself from.
"Why did I allow Whispers to have that day off?!"
Back at the Owl House, Raine held Eda's hand. "I was talking about the grand opening of the University of Wild Magic."
Eda grinned. "Me, a headmaster. Never thought I'd get the chance to say that. If old me were to see me now, I bet she'd call me hot."
Raine raised a brow. "Last I recall, you hated the idea of you being a teacher."
"Let me finish, she'd call me hot, a dork and then give me a hexed wedgie." Eda smiled. "Good thing I'm not wearing any underwear in case of that outcome."
Raine went wide eye in shock over that statement. "Wait, what?"
"Well, we got a whole day off to ourselves, so what do you say we start off?" Eda asked.
"Put on a pair of underwear, that's disgusting Eda."
Eda and Raine shot up from their nest to see none other than Luz standing by her doorway wearing a blue purple tank top with the Owl Lady's jock jacket wrapped around her waist.
Eda screamed and covered herself with sheet as if she wasn't wearing anything. "Luz! When did you get here?!"
"Yesterday." Luz replied. "I was having a sleepover at Amity's house."
"Oh, good for you." Eda said. "Did you at least keep the door closed so you could do girlfriend stuff?"
Luz gagged. "Eda!"
"I was talking about making out!" Eda protested. "Titan, you think you know a person!"
"Eda, are you ready for today?" Luz asked.
"You mean laying inside and doing nothing with the love of my life?" Eda laughed. "Yes, I sure as heck am!"
"Uh…I was talking about the Annual Gravesfield Pride Day." Luz said.
Raine looked intrigued. "Pride day?"
"It's more Pride month, but sure." Luz explained. "Eda, I asked you to come to the event and you said yes."
In a flashback, Eda was saying goodbye to Luz after one of her visits to the Demon Realm. "I'll see ya next weekend, Luz! And sure, I'll RSVP you when I get the chance!"
Luz smiled at Eda. "Okay, Eda."
Once Luz left, Eda laughed. "A whole month dedicated to taking pride in yourself. I don't need a whole month to do that junk. I do it 24/7."
In the present, Luz looked confused. "Wait, you think the whole month is about admiring yourself? But you said you been to one."
"I did." Eda said. "Though I don't know what the colours of painbows got to do with admiration or those other colours like the one on your shirt."
"But don't you have one?" Luz asked.
Eda dug through her hair and pulled out a shirt that read 'Love is love.' "Doesn't love is love mean the love you have for yourself?"
"No!" Luz exclaimed before exhaling. "Well, I guess I should start explaining it to you all."
"All?" Eda asked.
"Yeah." Luz replied. "Amity, Hunter, Willow and Gus are coming with us. And they're already waiting downstairs for me to explain it."
"Luz I would love to come, but I promised Raine…"
"I will be delighted to come, Luz." Raine smiled.
"What?!" Eda exclaimed.
"I don't know much about the Human Realm." Raine said as they adjusted their glasses. "Do you really celebrate admiring yourselves on this month of Pride?"
"Why don't you come downstairs and I'll explain it?" Luz suggested. "Eda, especially you. Cause I'm ready to celebrate!" Luz began running down the corridor before accidentally tripped on the way there. "I'm okay!"
Once Luz left, Eda groaned. "I did not have that in my schedule."
"Eda, you know as much as I love doing nothing but lay in the nest with you, my chiropractor recommends I limit my rest in a nest." Raine turned to lift the back of their shirt to show their girlfriend the marks all over their back. "My skin looks like a bunch of birds were perched on there and my spine constantly needs readjusting."
"Alright, alright, we'll get around sometime." Eda said. "Just to warn ya, the Human Realm gets hot around this time. So wear something revealing."
"Eda!" Raine chided their girlfriend.
"Alright, alright, get me my legs so I can get out of the nest." Eda requested.
"Okay." Raine looked around the room for a brief moment before stopping. "Uh…Where did you last put them?"
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Hunter was walking towards the fridge. "I hope Eda doesn't mind that I have a soda." When he opened the fridge door however, he saw a horrifying sight. "Eda's legs were on the second shelf on display for everyone to see.
Despite being absolutely disturbed by what he had seen, Hunter reached in the fridge and pulled out a can of soda before slamming it shut.
Later downstairs, Luz had managed to gather everyone in the living room, including the tired Eda, whom had put on a white tank top, a pair of red shorts and some heels.
Raine was wearing a yellow crop top with what looked to be a smiling sunshine on the chest area, some beige shorts and what looked to be crocs on their feet.
Amity was wearing a lesbian flag shirt, a pair teared jeans and a pair of white sneakers.
Willow wore what looked to be a yellow tucked in shirt, a pair of teal jeans and a pair of trainers.
Hunter wore a buttoned orange Hawaiian shirt with beige shorts and wore what looked to be crocs with a pair of socks on.
While Gus was wearing a plain blue shirt with grey shorts and a pair of sandals on his feet.
Luz stood in front of everyone either sitting on the couch or floor to explain Pride month. "Okay, Pride month is a period where a community known as the LGBTQ are celebrated for living. They are a group of people who don't go about more common ways of living. Such as with who they love or what they identify as. And we celebrate their strifes
"Even the bad ones?" Eda asked.
Luz froze, unsure of how to answer that. "Uh….I….I….I don't think so. I mean, I hope not. I happen to know some who are, ya know, queer but not good. Like that one actor who caused a lot of mayhem in Hawaii whose name I shall not mention."
"Why?" Hunter asked. "What actor are we talking here?"
"Oh, I know them." Eda said. "They punched me for no reason and dislocated my jaw in the process. Their name was, E-"
"No!" Luz interjected. "All sorts happen during this certain Pride Day in my hometown. Music, parade floats, dancing, market stands, snacks and all sorts of queer merchandise."
"Sounds fun." Eda remarked. "Do they have drinks?"
Luz narrowed her eyes at her mother figure. "Eda…" She chided.
"What?" Eda reacted.
"I know what you wanna do." Luz said.
"No!" Eda protested.
"But Luz, what do the letters in the acronym stand for?" Willow asked.
Luz smiled. "Well, I'll let Amity explain what the L stands for. Sweet Potato." She said while pointing to the L of the acronym on a chalkboard with Stringbean taking the form of a teaching stick.
"It hasn't been three minutes and they already started." Eda grumbled.
"Thank you, Batata." Amity said. "The L in LGBTQ stands for Lesbian. Which is what I am. It means I only have my eyes set for girls. Like a certain, beautiful, smart, resourceful and gorgeous human I have ever met."
Luz gushed and blew her girlfriend a kiss that she managed to catch in her hand. "Thank you, Hermosa."
Their display of romantic affection caused some differing reactions. Eda looked annoyed, Raine looked to be happy for the both of them, Willow was smiling with admiration, Hunter was getting annoyed with their never ending displays of affection while Gus just looked like he didn't care.
"The G in LGBTQ…" Luz said while pointing to the G. "…It stands for gay."
"You mean, another meaning for happy?" Raine asked.
"Well, yeah, but it is more commonly referred to a man attracted to other men or used to describe someone of that community. Whether it be some kind of observation or an insult." Luz explained.
"It's used as an insult?" Hunter asked. "Well, I don't think I'm particular gay about that." Luz couldn't help but stifle a bit of a chuckle, leaving Hunter confused. "What? I'm saying I'm not happy about it."
Luz stopped chuckling. "I know. I know. Sorry. Anyway…" She pointed to B. "…B means bisexual. Which is what I am. It means, with me, I'm attracted to both girls and boys."
Gus raised his hand. "Do you have a preference?"
Luz froze at that statement. "Uh….Well, I'm with Amity."
"Gus is saying, if you're attracted to both guys and gals, do you have a favourite?" Willow asked.
Luz didn't know how to answer that question. "I don't think bi people technically have a favourite gender. They, just, fawn over them equally. Like I did. But, you know, I now fawn over someone more important than hot Anime characters." She looked at Amity with a flirtatious look.
A mini Abomination ran along Luz's shoulder and stopped at her cheek, kissing it. Leaving a purple smudge on her skin.
Hunter raised his hand with a curious expression. "Can, being bisexual just apply to girls?"
Luz smiled at Hunter. "No, it applies to guys as well."
"Oh, right." Hunter responded as he sat down, deep in thought for whatever reason.
"And the T…" Luz pointed to the T. "…Stands for transgender. It describes someone who has transitioned from one gender to another. Hence the trans in the name. Like for example, you Raine."
Raine pointed at themselves. "Me?"
"Yeah. You go by they/them, so I assume you're non-binary." Luz explained. "Which is kind of like transgender. You just don't identify with more common genders like male or female."
"Non binary?" Raine asked.
"Yup." Luz replied.
"Is that a robot slang?"
"No." Luz replied. "Even though it sounds like it. And queer is just slang for people who happen to be LGBTQ or it can describe people who don't necessarily have a sexuality but feel they aren't necessarily a part of traditional attractions."
"Oh, I like that." Eda remarked.
"Okay, now everyone knows, who is ready to go to the Human Realm for a colourful time?!" Luz asked.
"Heck yeah!" Hunter, Willow, Amity, Gus and Raine exclaimed.
"Eh, sure." Eda responded, still not sure about the whole festival.
Raine nudged her shoulder. "Come on, Eda. This will be fun. This will not be like that Christmas debacle."
"Yeah, I remember what happened the last time." Eda leered her eyes at Amity, who looked immediately offended.
"Come on, Eda. It all worked out in the end." Amity argued.
"Yeah but Tinella still has a weight problem." Eda reminded her.
Meanwhile, Tinella was lying on a beach, still ginormous from the Christmas incident. "I should weally start watching my weight." She groaned before playing her ginormous belly like a drum. "Hooway, belly dwum!"
Later, in the Human Realm, everyone from the Demon Realm had arrived out of the portal ready to indulge themselves in the festivities.
As they walked, the respective couples from each Realm were holding each other's hands. Luz with Amity, Willow with Hunter and Eda with Raine. While Gus looked to be in an awkward position.
"Okay guys, I did wanna come, but I didn't expect to be the seventh wheel." Gus stated.
"Do you have a problem with us being affectionate?" Hunter asked his best friend.
"Oh no, it's just, ya know…I don't have a partner of my own." Gus said. "I just feel a tad awkward being the seventh wheel."
Luz cringed. "Oh, Gus. I hate to tell you this…"
"Hey guys!" Ahead of them, Luz's basilisk sister, Vee and her partner, Masha, were approaching the group.
Gus groaned. "Oh man. I'm the ninth wheel of the group."
Masha appeared to be wearing a shirt representing the non binary flag, a pair of earrings with the non binary flag, black shorts and their nails represented the non binary flag.
While Vee, in her human disguise, appeared to be wearing her trademark orange sweater she wore in October.
"You guys ready for a festivity of fun?" Vee asked.
"Sure." Luz replied. "Uh….Vee, no offence, couldn't you wear something a little more summer?"
Vee looked down at her disguise and smacked her head. "Oh, right, I knew I forgot something." She shifted into a yellow one piece swimsuit which made Masha blush slightly.
"Okay, Vee, that's good." Luz said. "But maybe save that when we're swimming."
Vee cringed. "Oh, right." The Basilisk shifted into a pair of orange sandals, beige shorts and a short orange sleeveless shirt that was slightly cropped. "Ah, that's lovely. Just hope I don't step on some glass." The basilisk cringed. "Titan, now I know Bryce Wallace felt in Die Difficulty."
When they eventually arrived in the town of Gravesfield after a short bus ride, everyone from the Isles amazed with what they were seeing. There were a bunch of people all shapes and all colours dancing to music, selling pride flags at stands and some running with flags in their hands.
When Gus saw the flags, his eyes lit up with shimmering sparkles. "Flags of varied and beautiful colours. Oh boy, I feel I'm gonna holler with joy!"
"Alright gang, this event is gonna last all day." Luz declared. "So, I suggest we meet up around 14:00 for the parade floats and then 17:00 for dinner. So, I hope you got plenty on ya."
Eda dug through her hair and pulled out a big ol' sack of money. "I stole this from my ex husband who stole this from an embassy in Columbia."
Luz narrowed her eyes at Eda. "Eda…"
"Kiddo, stealing's wrong, unless it's from crooks." Eda stated.
"I thought it was pirates." Amity said.
"Shut up." Eda said.
"Eda, I want you to promise me one thing today." Luz requested. "Pride month tends to get chaotic with the crowds and the partying and you take chaos too far sometimes."
Eda blew a raspberry. "Whaaaaat? No!"
"Eda, remember what happened when you mixed egg nog and apple blood?"
Luz flash backed to the day after Christmas where Eda was standing on the coffee table in the Noceda living room, drinking from a ginormous mug of egg nog and apple blood. Once she finished, she left a trail of the liquid dripping from her chin.
She belched and noticed a hole in the window, a broken vase and some stains on the wall. "Huh. I hope Cammie, doesn't mind."
Luz ran into the living room. "Eda, it's December 26th!"
"And there was that time, on Valentine's Day." Raine stated.
Eda flash backed to when she woke up in her nest to be surrounded by rose petals, a broken chandelier and scratch marks on the wall.
Eda looked around her room with confusion. "What did we do last night?"
An exhausted Raine walked in their room with a cup of tea and a gown wrapped around their body. "You let your inner Owl Beast out."
"And Raine's birthday." Amity stated.
Eda flash backed to when everyone, including the Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, Hunter, Darius, Eberwolf, Camila, Vee, Lilith, Hooty, King and Steve were in the Owl House living room awaiting for Raine's birthday cake.
Matt wheeled in a ginormous chocolate cake which made Raine surprised by how big it was. After they whistled to blow out their candles, Eda suddenly popped out of the cake, wearing a red dress that showed off her thighs. "Happy birthday, Rainestorm. Your birthday present has arrived!"
Everyone in the room was shocked by Eda's display of affection for her partner. Due to the shocking outfit, it caused Amity to cover Luz's eyes, Willow to cover Hunter's eyes, Camila to cover Gus' eyes and Eberwolf to cover Darius' eyes.
"Oh come on, just a little fun happened." Eda argued.
"Eda…" Raine chided before pulling puppy eyes. "Come on, as much as I love fun Eda, I think I'd like to see what a restrained Eda is like."
Eda, wanting to protest Raine's plea, couldn't help but resist their charm. "Oh, fine! I'll do my best!"
Luz gave Eda a grateful smile. "Alright, everyone let's split up."
And so, every couple went their separate ways while Gus stayed behind by the bus stop. All on his own. "Well, good thing I'm neither of their third wheels." Gus said. "I'm just on my own." Then, he looked around the block he was standing on and saw that there were a lot of people with their own significant others either holding hands or kissing.
Gus just groaned in annoyance. "This is going to be a long day."
