In New York, Elisa went to the Xanatos' and talked to David and Fox. "I found Brooklyn! He's at Virgina Beach." She exclaimed excitedly. "I need to go get him."

"How did he get there?" Fox asked.

"He's been making his way up the coastline since he was taken by scientists from Florida." Elisa explained. "He escaped. They've got to be looking for him."

"All the more important for us to go get him back." David said. "I'll fly you there."

"No. Not this time, Xanatos. It would be better if Fox came this time." Elisa stated. "Don't tell the clan about Brooklyn yet. He didn't want them to know until we talked. They'll know when Brooklyn is ready for them to know."

"Alright." David replied.

The copter was fueled up and they took off to go get Brooklyn. They went to the airport to get on a jet that would take them to Virginia. Once at the airport there, they rented a van that would let them bring Brooklyn to the airport soon.

….

It was evening by the time they arrived at the destination. Fox and Elisa went up to the house and knocked on the door.

An older woman came to the door. "Hello?" She greeted.

"Hi, I'm Elisa Maza and this is Fox Xanatos. We spoke on the phone. Are you Pauline?" Elisa asked.

"Yes, I am. Please come in." Pauline smiled and welcomed them to her house. They gladly stepped inside.

"So, where's Brooklyn?" Elisa asked.

"He's still asleep in the guest room." Pauline replied.

"He should be waking up momentarily." Pauline stated. "He has something tell ya."

Soon, there was a roar from the room and out stepped the red gargoyle. He was shocked at who he saw in the living room. "Elisa? Fox?" he gaped.

"Brooklyn." The two women said in unison. Then there was a rush and Brooklyn ran to Elisa. "Elisa, it's really you!" He started sobbing while hugging her tight. Fox kept out of the way.

They soon let go of one another. Elisa then looked the red male over and noticed he looked different from the last time she had seen him. "What happened to you?"

"So, Brooklyn, what's going on?" Fox greeted. "It's been a while since we last saw you."

"I know. It's a long story." He replied sheepishly. He then looked down and placed a hand on his stomach. "It's this."

Fox looked at his belly as did Elisa. "The scientists overfeed you?" Fox asked.

"No! It's complicated. I'm a male, yes, but they did an experiment on me." Brook explained. "They got me pregnant, Fox, Elisa."

The two women were stunned to hear that. They were silent for the moment until Elisa spoke. "Are you sure?"

"I can guarantee that I am NOT lying about this, Elisa and Fox. I'm carrying twins in here." The red male declared, rubbing his swollen belly.

The two women looked down at his belly. It certainly looked like a pregnant belly.

"But are you alright, Brooklyn? I heard you had appendicitis." Elisa stated.

"Yes, I'm fine. A vet friend of Pauline's treated me and got it out." Brook replied.

"Dr. Quincy was looking out for my pregnant mare in the barn. Brooklyn also helped her give birth to her son. If it wasn't for him, Dolly and her foal would have died. My vet also saw there was some kind of artificial uterus inside Brooklyn that the babies are growing in." Pauline explained.

"But how did you and Brooklyn meet?" Fox asked.

"I was passing through and needed rest when I came upon her barn to also get out of a storm. I also faced a hurricane in the south when I first escaped." Brook declared. "I wasn't going to stay long but Pauline found me in her hayloft, and she nearly fell off and I kept her from falling. She's been watching over me for the last week. I was going to go on gliding home again after I rested. The twins take a lot out of me."

"Yeah, babies do that, Brooklyn." Fox said. "Especially unborn ones, since you have to share everything your body does with them."

"You haven't told Goliath and the clan that I was back, right?"

"No. We are letting you explain things first before we take you home." Elisa said.

"Good. I'll need you with me when I return." Brook stated.

"How far along are you, Brooklyn?" Elisa asked.

"Five months, I think." He replied. "I also have a dilemma with one of the twins. There's a hole in this one's heart. Its heart is very weak compared to the other's. I don't know if this one will live once it's born." Brooklyn couldn't help that tears fell from his eyes. He was motioning about the right-side twin.

Fox and Elisa could see how upset the red male was. He normally never cried in front of anyone. This was definitely not like him at all.

"Calm down, Brooklyn. Stress isn't good for you in this condition." Fox went over to put a hand on his shoulder. "I know what you're going through. All the hormones and a scary situation when you think you'll lose your child."

"Yes."

"Brooklyn, the sooner we get you home, the better. Dr. Sato will need to examine you and the twins. Since he helped me when I was shot, he can likely be the best chance your child has to save its life." Elisa declared.

"Thank you, but how are we getting there?" Brook asked.

"Jet and then helicopter once we get back to the airport." Fox replied. "We should get going."

"Alright. Hang on." He said. He went back to his room to get his backpack with all his needed supplies. Then he put it down to give Pauline a hug. "Thanks for letting me stay here and take care of me." He said sadly but happily. "And for getting in touch with Elisa."

"You're welcome, Brooklyn. You're a great friend. Thanks for helping me out too. And good luck with your twins." Pauline said.

"Thank you." He said.

"Wait. Here's my address if you want to send me letters. I'd like to see pictures of your babies when they are born." Pauline gave Brooklyn a card with her address on it.

He put it in his bag. "Thanks. I'll be happy to send you some."

Then it was time to go. "Thanks again for contacting us." Elisa said.

"No problem." Pauline said.

Brooklyn then turned back. "Take care of Lightning."

"I will. But now it's time for you to go see your family again." Pauline waved goodbye.

"Who's Lightning?" Fox asked.

"The baby horse I helped Pauline's mare give birth to." Brooklyn replied.

"Oh, okay." Fox was flabbergasted. "Well, let's go now."

The three of them got into the van that was rented and finally drove off. Brook had his wings caped so he could fit in the van.

To Pauline, it would feel different without Brooklyn here to help her. She had gotten used to him being here, but he had a family to get back to. She wouldn't keep him here. She had a part of him still here through Lightning, in a way.

As she gazed at the colt, she said, "I'll call you Brooklyn's Lightning. Your full name." Pauline smiled at the nursing foal.

…..

They soon got to the airport and onto the jet that took them back to New York where they then switched back to the helicopter.

Fox called her husband to let him know that they were bringing Brooklyn home. He was ready to see the clan again. He could tell them. David was pleased.

"I think they're all out on patrol tonight. Brooklyn could probably just come home and relax in his room." David suggested. "Let him settle down before they see him again."

"Good idea." Fox replied. She got off the phone and said that he may not see the clan tonight because they were all on patrol. Better to wait until tomorrow night.

They soon got home, and Brooklyn, Fox, and Elisa got off the copter. To the red gargoyle, it seemed so strange that he was seeing the walls of Castle Wyvern again at all.

"I thought I would never see this place again." Brooklyn stated. "It feels so good to be home."

"I bet it does. The clan will be so glad to see you again." Elisa said with a smile.

"I want to rest up for the rest of tonight. Perhaps we can see them tomorrow night. I'll see them at breakfast. Can you tell them for me first?" Brooklyn asked of her.

"Of course." Elisa said. "I get that this is an emotional time for you. I'm also going to have Dr. Sato come too so he can examine the babies."

"Okay. Yeah, I do need to know how this one is." Brook held his right side.

"What do you think caused it?" Fox asked. "The hole in the heart."

"I don't know. It was already like that." Brook replied. Then he went inside to go to his personal bedroom. He saw all the posters and CDs in there that were his. His books. His headphones. Soon, he would need to change his room to a nursery for the twins. He wanted them to stay in here with him. He sat down on his bed. It felt a little alien to him after being gone for so long.

Another thing was that he wanted assistance raising them. The whole clan would help raise them. He was glad he wasn't going to raise them alone. "Now that we're home, kids, I do want to find out what your genders are so I can start coming up with names for you." Brooklyn smiled down at his belly. "Hopefully, the next few months will let the others get used to the idea that we're all going to have you two in it soon."

Brooklyn knew that he would have to behave like a responsible adult more than ever. He couldn't be taking reckless chances. He couldn't patrol or fight while he was in this condition, but he still needed to keep in shape should the castle be attacked. He wasn't going to dare leave the castle until after the birth of his twins. He had some post trauma of missing it for so long and he had been alone. At least leaving the castle the first time had been easier because he had his clan with him. He would relax until tomorrow night.

…..

The clan returned from their patrols shortly before dawn. Elisa was there to greet them all.

"Greetings, Elisa." Goliath said. "Xanatos said you and Fox had to take a trip together."

"We're back now. It was an important trip. There is something to discuss with all of you." Elisa began.

"There is a little time before sunrise to talk, Lass." Hudson said calmly.

"Where did you and Fox go?" Angela asked.

"We had to take a quick trip to Virginia Beach. There was a special guest there that we brought back with us," Elisa explained, "but they want to wait till tomorrow night to see you all."

"Who is this guest?" Broadway asked.

"You'll see. It's a surprise." Elisa smiled.

"Do we know this guest?" Lexington asked.

"Yes, you do."

"We know of no one from Virginia." Goliath stated. "What's going on, Elisa?"

"I promise, Goliath, this surprise is something special." Elisa was grinning proudly. The clan didn't understand. Not long after, they were in stone sleep for the day, awaiting their surprise that night.

Brooklyn was stone too, in his room in a fearsome pose.

David and Owen visited Brook's room during the day to see him. Fox told them the news that he was back, and he was pregnant. Unusual for a male but scientists had done it to him.

"From what Fox said, I owe Brooklyn here a couple of cigars." David joked.

"Well said, Sir." Owen agreed. He smiled.

They both could see the swollen belly on the beaked gargoyle. He hadn't had that belly when he was here before. If anything, he looked a little more filled out from eating for three. He had to gain weight for the twins. But there was the concern for the one with the hole in the heart.

Elisa also called Dr. Sato that he needed to be there tonight because Brooklyn had returned and that he was found to be pregnant. One of the babies had a heart issue to know about. He said he would be there.

At first, I was going to have Elisa and Fox know of Brooklyn's pregnancy before they came to get him, but then changed my mind and wanted them to find out when they got there to talk in person.
