"The door's unlocked. Come on bub."

Eddie held out her hand for Jamie and he took it, squeezing it as he walked forward. As they made their way out the door and into the damp tunnels, she noticed there was a large metal door a few hundred feet away. Eddie started heading towards it leading Jamie with her. Jamie pulled Eddie back slightly.

"Not that door. Those are where the bodies are. Come on. We need to get to the stairs. It's not far."

It wasn't long until they reached the winding staircase that led back up to the house. Jamie squeezed her hand and she started to ascend the stairs. They were halfway up the metal staircase when Jamie lightly tugged on her hand.

"Can we stop for a minute Ed? I need to catch my breath."

Eddie stopped and gripped the metal railing.

"You ok bub?"

Jamie nodded and caught his breath.

"Yeah. I'm good now. Let's go."

Finally, the couple made it to the top of the stairs and went through the doorway that lead back into the house. Jamie swung the door shut when they got inside.

"The top of that spiral staircase we climbed, it's where Rolanil threw himself off, and tried to take Patrick with him. I grabbed Patrick before he could go over the edge with Rolanil. I sat up against the wall right next to this door with Patrick for nearly twenty minutes before we got back to you."

Eddie squeezed Jamie's hand.

"We'll get our baby boy back. Let's keep going."

Jamie held a hand up as they rounded a corner.

"It's too quiet. Something's not right."

Looking left and then right down the hallway, Jamie made sure the coast was clear and then he went to the first bedroom door to the left. Trying the doorknob, he found it was open. Turning it slowly, he opened it. He was hoping he'd find a woman and baby behind that door. Instead, he found it empty. The room was a mess. It was as if everyone had left in a hurry.

The bed sheets were soaked in fresh blood and the blankets had been tossed on the floor. Trays of medical instruments and supplies had been dumped on the floor.

"The blood on the bed is fresh. So, there was a woman who gave birth in here not that long ago. Watch your step Ed. The blood on the scalpel is fresh too. Wait, hold back Ed. There's a trail of blood here, it goes straight to the bathroom."

Eddie raised an eyebrow at Jamie and shook her head.

"Any other clues you've found Detective Reagan?"

Jamie put an index finger to his lips and pointed towards the bathroom door. He went over and slowly opened it. The shower curtain was drawn and the tap in the bathtub was running. Slowly pulling the curtain back, he found nothing. Just the running tap and the tub filled with water and blood. Furrowing his eyebrows he shook his head and looked at Eddie who stood just inside the door frame to the bathroom.

"I'm guessing the woman, whoever she was, had a set of twins. She gave birth to one in the bed over there, and then did a water birth in the tub. There's no way Lancaster would have time to deliver both babies and get them out of here."

Eddie nodded and her arms were now crossed over her chest.

"Ok now that we've established that there are no pregnant women in here and no Patrick, let's go. We'll have to search every room in the house."

Jamie nodded and exited the bathroom. He knew that there might be more potential victims, but they had to search every room to make sure. Exiting the first bedroom, the couple made their way down the hall to the next room. Slowly opening the door, they found a woman in the bed, in obvious pain. He noticed there was no blanket or sheet over her and her ankles had soft restraints around them. Jamie quickly undid the restraints around her ankles and draped the sheet over her. The woman looked at Jamie wild eyed.

"Doctor Stevenson? I thought you left with them!"

Jamie shook his head no and looked the woman in the eye.

"Where's your baby?"

The woman blew out a breath and put a hand on the sheet over her belly.

"Here! I haven't had them yet!"

Jamie instantly felt his defenses go up. There was no way they would just leave a pregnant woman alone and in labor. They would see to it that she delivered and then dispose of her body after giving birth. It most certainly was a trap. Jamie nodded and quickly went to wash his hands. Coming back into the room, he found a pair of gloves but didn't bother with a mask over his face.

"Ok, do I have your permission to check your progress? What's your name?"

The woman nodded her head and looked Jamie in the eye.

"Jaycey."

Jamie momentarily looked at Eddie and gestured towards the door. Eddie nodded and locked the bedroom door and managed to push the dresser enough to block the door in case anyone tried to come in. Eddie took a seat next to Jaycee and looked her in the eye, giving her a confident smile.

"I'm Jessica. Doctor Stevenson is my husband. Everything is going to be ok. I promise. Just think, in a few minutes, you'll have a beautiful baby in your arms. What do you think? Boy or a girl?"

Jaycey smiled and tried not to wince.

"Ow. A girl. I can keep my baby, right? Larson said I could keep my baby if I paid him $900,000. I can't get that money right away. My husband's on a business trip in London. I don't even think he knows I'm missing."

Jamie gave her a sympathetic look.

"I know Jaycey. I'm sorry. I know that's uncomfortable. Ok all done. Almost there. You're at 8 centimeters. Two more to go. How are you feeling?"

Jaycey gave a watery smile.

"I'm ok. These contractions really hurt though. You wouldn't happen to have an epidural, would you?"

Jamie shook his head.

"Unfortunately, I don't have access to that. No. What I want you to do is every time you feel a contraction, I want you to bare down on it and keep breathing. How about we get you into a more comfortable position. Jess hon, can you help me put her legs back on the bed?"

Eddie nodded and helped Jamie. Jaycy sighed and felt her eyes closing. Jamie helped her lie on her left side and she drifted off to sleep. She leaned in towards Jamie and whispered.

"She deserves to keep her baby Jamie. I don't want her to end up like us and all these other women who had their kids taken away. She deserves to have her family."

Jamie could feel Eddie's anxiousness coming off her in waves. He knew that her hormones were off the charts right now and not having Patrick with her, it was making her nerves raw. He leaned in a whispered in her ear.

"Hey. Look at me. We'll get Patrick back. I promise."

Eddie nodded and placed her chin on Jamie's shoulder. Removing it, she looked around the room and shook her head. To think this was her nearly a month ago now. Her eyes roved over to the machine's Jaycey was attached to. It was beeping rapidly. Jaycee opened her eyes and blew out a breath.

"God that hurts! I feel like this baby's between my knees!"

Jamie nodded and resumed his position at the foot of the bed. Eddie help put Jaycey's feet up and stayed by her head.

"Everything's going to be just fine Jaycey."

Taking another breath in, Jamie had a look behind the sheet and gave a smile.

"Ok Jaycey. I see a head. Go ahead and give me a push now. That's it. Not too hard ok? Once we're past the head and to the shoulders, I want you to push as hard as you can. That's it. Keep going. The head is out! Give me a really big push now. There you go. Keep going. Good. One more for me. There you go! It's a girl!"

Jaycey let out a laugh and then a sob leaning back against the pillows. Jamie cut the umbilical cord and Eddie placed the little girl on Jaycey's chest.

"She's beautiful Jaycey. What's her name?"

Jaycey traced the little girl's nose.

"Carrie."

"Where are you flying to today?"

Doctor Matthew's gave the woman behind the ticket counter at JFK a smile and rocked the baby in the car seat in her left hand.

"Two tickets to Los Angeles please."

The woman behind the counter looked at Doctor Matthews and gave her a concerned look.

"Are you alright ma'am?"

Doctor Matthew's nodded her head.

"I'm fine."

The woman shook her head.

"I'm sorry I cannot allow you on the next flight. You need medical attention."

Doctor Matthews knew the woman was stalling, so she tried her best to work her way around it.

"I'm fine. Really. My feet are just tired."

The woman behind the ticket counter didn't budge. She wasn't going to let Doctor Matthews buy the two tickets for her and the little girl in the car seat she was holding. Suddenly, at least 15 NYPD officers converged on Doctor Matthews and the baby. One spoke to her seriously.

"Officer Erica Lancaster. You are under arrest for kidnapping, extortion, representing adoption services under false pretenses, helping a known gangster run an underground hospital through a private residence and the murder of 36 women. You have the right to remain silent…."

Doctor Matthews had tuned out everything after the last sentence. She knew she was in trouble. But she was doing it for those in need.
