Hunt For The Mystical Medals

Many thanks to those who reviewed this fic, I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here a new story arc commences…and here you will see the aftermath of what happened following the previous chapters…and how this affects the side characters of Detective Conan…

In the previous arc, a few things happened:

O – Doctor Maki was given a warning by Kousei Kougami about Maki's SECRET PARTNERSHIP with Kazari and was urged to sever ties with the feline Greed;

O – Maki and Kazari got into an unintentional confrontation with members of the Black Organization and meets Conankh for the first time and saw what he is capable of;

O – Maki decided to defect from the Kougami Foundation, taking a secret parcel whilst his alliance with Kazari is discovered by O's and Ankh;

About an hour later, the scene shifts at Agasa's home, where Kyuji, Toudou, Shiho, Ankh and Shiho are discussing about what to do next, as Kyuji told Toudou and Gotoh about what happened recently, and in turn Gotoh told Kyuji that Maki has betrayed the Kougami Foundation and left, taking with him an important artifact that Kougami gave to Maki for safekeeping, and now Gotoh reluctantly said that Kougami told him that the artifact contained what appeared to be a stoned seal, which Ankh sensed that it might ring a bell, and after asking Gotoh some questions, Ankh said that it is possible that it might contain hidden Core Medals, which Gotoh started to feel uneasy about this.

"Core Medals, you say…?"

"Its possible."

"So then…that's why Kougami looked very upset…"

"Hmph. That guy made a poor choice in having that artifact be placed in the custody of someone that is shady…"

"And if Maki managed to open that seal…"

"The Core Medals...whatever that is…would be unleashed."

"This is bad…"

"…"

Kyuji was equally worried, as both Ankh and Gotoh have no idea what the stoned seal contain, and what type of Core Medals are hidden, though Gotoh said that he would ask Kougami to provide some clues as he might figure out what kind of Core Medals are, and hoped that Maki doesn't figure it out.

Ch. 161: Murasakiiro no medaru, kyōryū, kurai konbo part 1

The scene shifts at Doctor Maki's secret safehouse, where Maki and Kazari arrived, and now they are discussing about planning their next move, after the recent events that took place, in which they left Maki's laboratory while leaving it in ruins after the scientist symbolically quit the Kougami Foundation while stealing a stoned seal that Kougami gave to Maki for safekeeping.

While Kazari smirked as he jokingly said that it has been 800 years since he last had a GOOD STAKEOUT, Maki cautions him that what happened a few hours ago is something that he considers not humorous after getting into a confrontation with members of the Black Organization and meeting Ankh's counterpart for the first time, and seeing that he is at least on the same level as Ankh's.

There Maki began to UNEARTH the seal and Kazari curiously asked what that stoned seal contains, in which Maki stoically said that this was one of Kougami's secret researches, as it contains a separate set of Core Medals, which are different from the ones that O's use, and there Kazari sensed a faint aura coming from the sealed stone and backed away, feeling apprehensive and cautious given the aura he felt.

"What the…?"

"…"

"That aura…!"

"So you sensed it…"

"Why…do I feel so apprehensive towards it…?"

"…"

"Do you know what you're getting yourself into?"

"…"

Maki wasn't fazed at Kazari's apprehensive reaction as he continues to UNEARTH the stoned seal and a few minutes later it was partially opened, where 10 pieces of purple-colored Core Medals are seen, each one has an emblem of different types of DINOSAURS engraved.

Kazari cautiously stared at them and now he is feeling more of that strange aura, which is different from the ones that the five Greed exhibits, and he asked Maki if he knows what he is getting himself into, which the bespectacled scientist stoically nodded in response.

"Doctor…!"

"Yes?"

"Do you have any idea what you're getting yourself into?"

"Yes."

"Those medals…!"

"Calm down. You have nothing to worry about."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

The next day, the scene shift at a park where a charitable event is taking place, and you can see a millionaire is donating some of his money to charitable organizations as he is a well-known philanthropist, and nearby, Kyuji and Ankh told Gotoh and Toudou about what happened yesterday, and there they are now sure that Maki has become their enemy given his alliance with Kazari is exposed.

"So Maki is in league with Kazari…"

"That would explain some things. Kyuji…Ankh...are you certain that you saw Maki traveling with Kazari?"

"Yes, we did."

"And Kazari spawned a Yummy to keep us busy while they got away."

"This is bad…"

"And this is bad timing as well…"

"…"

"…"

Not far, Uva, in his human guise, is watching the charitable event, and sensed that the millionaire having a strong DESIRE because of his unwavering support to charitable causes, Uva decided to use the millionaire to spawn a Yummy, and discreetly uses a Cell Medal to SLOT it into the millionaire's forehead, causing him to convulse and the millionaire's staff members asked him if he is okay.

Suddenly, a whitish, mummy-like entity came out from the millionaire's body and grabbed a suitcase of money worth a million Yen, and there the entity MOLTED and became the Black Swallowtail Yummy, which causes the staff members to shriek in terror, which was loud enough to attract attention.

"EEEEEEKKKK!"

"KKKKKKKYYYYYYAAAAHHHH!"

"WWWWWWAAAAAHHHH!"

"HHHHHHEEEEELLLPPPPP!"

"EEEEEEKKKK!"

"KKKKKKKYYYYYYAAAAHHHH!"

"WWWWWWAAAAAHHHH!"

"HHHHHHEEEEELLLPPPPP!"

Uva smirked at seeing his handiwork as the Black Swallowtail Yummy flew off and carried the suitcase, and there Ankh saw the Yummy as it heads off towards the middle of the street, prompting him, along with Kyuji, Gotoh and Toudou to pursue it, expecting that the Yummy would cause trouble and casualties might ensue.

A minute later, Ran and a disguised Shiho are walking the streets as they just came from a store, and there the two females are talking about the current events, and are dismayed that now they have two sides to watch out for: Maki with Kazari and the Black Organization with Conankh.

Suddenly they saw the Black Swallowtail Yummy hovering above and began to throw the paper money towards the ground, each bill worth 1,000 Yen, and this enticed the pedestrians to scramble towards the streets to get their hands on the FREE MONEY, which caused a chain reaction, as people began shoving one another while others engaged in a tug-of-war on getting their hands on the money being dropped.

"Hey!"

"Let go!"

"This is mine!"

"No! It's mine!"

"I got it first!"

"No! I got it first!"

"Let go, damn it!"

"You let go!"

Moments later the chain reaction commences as vehicles were passing by and the drivers were taken aback by the falling money and the sudden movements of the pedestrians, causing accidents, like hit-and-run while vehicles crashing against one another, resulting in serious injuries, prompting Ran to tell Shiho to call Kyuji and Ankh, which she nodded.

"Shiho! Call Kyuji and Ankh! That thing is causing a lot of ruckus!"

"I'm on it!"

"This is bad!"

"…"

"Shiho!"

"Hold on! I'm trying to reach them!"

"After this let's get to a safe area!"

"Okay…"

Amid all this, the scene shifts at the office of Kousei Kougami within the Kougami Foundation, where Kougami is staring at the window of his office, looking at the skies where he vaguely saw the Black Swallowtail Yummy hovering above the streets and dropping the paper money, yet he seemed to be thinking about something else.

He was EMOTIONALLY HURT about Maki's DEPARTURE, and the stoned seal that Maki stole, and Kougami mentally deduced that Maki has a diabolical intention towards the stoned seal, and wondered if Maki knows what he is getting himself into, and the president of the Kougami Foundation is having a mixture of worry and excitement about what might happen next.

"Doctor Maki…it pains me to see you leave…and to think you are planning to DO THAT…"

Hope you liked this opening chapter of the current story arc, as after Maki defect from the Kougami Foundation, taking something that made Kougami upset, he is now planning something that would foreshadow the next trail of events…

Uva resurface and caused a troubling situation, and this prompts Kyuji and the others to go after another insect-themed Yummy…
