"You will never be a hero." Izuku Midyoria was thinking about those words All Might had spewed to him. It was more than ten years ago when he was five. Izuku was always interested in being a hero, but it died out as he got older. All Might was his perfect picture of the word hero, but even heroes have to follow the rules that society came up with. He had no such obligation. After all, Izuku was the most feared Yakuza head ever. He gets the people's apprehension about trusting him, so why was the oldest Yaoyorozu standing before him? "So what does the Yaoyorozu family want with me?" he curiously asked. Her face seemed panicked.
"Mr.-" the young Yaoyorozu got cut off.
"Izuku works just fine, miss Yaoyorozu."
"Izuku, you see, my family is in a bind currently, and we need some-"
"You need some money to help your family," he said.
"Yes," she said.
"Hmm… having the Yaoyorozu's in my back pocket would be interesting," he thought.
"You would have me," she said, his face contorting into confusion. "In repayment for the money, you would marry me." He looked annoyed by this proposal.
"You are training to become a hero, right?" he asked.
"Yes, I am," she said.
"How would that work? How would a hero be a spouse to the Demon's Head?"
"I would give up on the dream," she earnestly said.
"Out of the question," Izuku commented. "I'll give you the money, but there will be a day when I need a favor from you, and you will not ask questions." She nodded. Izuku left her to discuss with his accountant. He wondered what kind of trouble the Yaoyorozu were in if they were reaching yakuza clan members. Izuku thought he should see his mother because it had been a while since they talked.
Later that day, he went out. He headed towards his mom's house. He brought flowers with him and hoped his mom would enjoy them. He got his phone and said he would be over in five minutes. Once he reached his mom's door, he took a key out of his pocket and inserted it into the lock. "Hey, Mom, I'm back," he closed the door and turned around. "Ms. Yaoyorozu, why are you here?" She looked to be doing the dishes.
"Izuku, dear," his mom exited her room to greet him. " Thank you so much for your help, Momo." She hugged her son.
"No problem at all, Mrs. Midoriya," Momo said.
"Call me Inko, Momo," Inko said.
"Yes, Inko, do you need anything else?"
"No, that's it. Thank you so much, sweetie," Inko continued. "If you want to stay, you are more than welcome." Momo smiled, but she shook her head, explaining that she needed to go home. "Then, Izuku can walk you out." Izuku was interested in how they met and decided this would not be horrible. Izuku and Momo walked out of the door.
"Why are you-"
"Your mom needed some help and ran into me," Momo said. "I didn't know she was your mom."
"No one does," Izuku explained. "That is on purpose. After all, I would hate for her to be in danger because of me."
"How old are you?" Momo asked. "You speak like you are so much older than me."
"I'm fifteen," he said. Momo stopped where she was, and she looked at him incredulously.
"You are the same age as me," she said. "Why aren't you in school? Or U.A.? You must have a powerful quirk."
"I don't have a quirk," Izuku says. Momo's eyes widen. "Quirks are helpful, but they are also crutches with weaknesses."
"Then, how did… I don't," Momo said to herself.
"How did I become the head of one of the most dangerous organizations known to man?" Izuku finished her question, and she nodded. "Each quirk has a weakness. Figure out what that is, and you have figured out your opponent." She nodded, not seeming to comprehend what Izuku had just told her. Izuku knew where to go; this was not his first time visiting her home. He walked her up her steps. As he began to leave, she grabbed his arm, and he turned around.
"Thank you for taking me home," she said.
"Of course, Miss Yaoyorozu," he walked off. He thought about their first encounter and how she approached him. He thought this wouldn't be the last time he would see her. He left for his mother's place.
"I'm back," he said with a smile. His mom hugged him with one of her patented bone-crushing hugs. He returned it. "It's been a while, Mom. How have you been?" She pinched his cheek like he was a little kid again.
"I've been doing great," Inko began. "But you could come around more often."
"I know, Mom," Izuku started. "I'll come if I have time."
"So, how's your dating life been?" Inko teased.
"Nonexistent," he said. They fell into comfortable conversation. Inko knew better than to ask him about work. She had a box of cookies for when he came, and it was on the table in the living room. He was munching on the cookies, and before they knew it was already evening.
"Izuku, when did you and Momo meet?" she asked. He explained, leaving out some crucial information. "It's already so late in the evening. Why not spend the night?" He agreed, although it's not like she let him debate it. She got a spare blanket from the closet and gave it to him. She had been lonely since he had left and his father had passed.
Izuku put everything away and said goodbye to his mother. He was in a good mood, which was rare since he had to think about everything. He was too busy looking at his phone to notice the beauty on the side of his home. Momo was in her head about what she had to tell him. He finally noticed her as she stood in his path. He looked up from his phone and met a steely, determined woman. He looked her up and down, thinking of what to do. She was wearing a red dress that had his mind spinning. He relented mentally and offered his company inside. She took the invitation without hesitation. They went inside, and he told the rest not to disturb him. He grabbed two mugs as someone else came in and poured hot water. "Three times in two days, what are the odds?" Izuku asked incredulously.
"Your mother was a happy accident," Momo continued. "But today, I came to see if you had considered my proposal."
"Why do you want to marry me?" he asked; she was unprepared for this question.
"Honestly, I don't know you," she said. Based on your work, I respect you, but I don't know if we would be compatible. If you can help my family, I would be willing to do anything." He mulled it over, thinking carefully about what she said.
"I'm sorry, sir," someone said. He was a little shorter than Izuku, well-built, and had a face that screamed he was a child. She nearly burst out snickering at the young man. "But All-Might is asking for your presence." He left a stunned Momo and an angry Izuku in the room. He put on a stern face and turned to leave.
"We will continue this after I'm done."
"Could I come with you?" Momo blurted out, looking stunned for a second before he nodded and entered the room where his old hero was with Momo on his heels.
"Mr. Midyoria, first off, I'm sorry for what-" All-Might got cut off.
"What do you want, All-Might," Izuku said, bored.
"If we may speak in private," All-Might asked.
"Anything you can say to me, you can say in front of her," he explained.
"But I can't speak about-"
"She is my fiance," he said; both All-Might and Momo were surprised, and luckily, she hid her surprise better than All-Might. She immediately went to his side and grabbed his hand.
"I need to pass my quirk on," All-Might said. "I need someone that doesn't give up their morals."
"And you think that is me?"
"I know it is you; you don't kill people; you give them to the police; you have never given up your morals even after I told you."
"Conditions?"
"Kill All-for-One," All-Might said. Izuku thought about this.
"Who is All-for-One?" Momo asked. Izuku looked toward her and whispered something in her ear, and she nodded.
"You have yet to explain how sharing your quirk would work."
"You need to eat or drink a part of my DNA."
"So, what am I going to eat your hair?" Izuku joked.
"A strand of it, yes," All-Might said, leaving Izuku stunned.
"Come back tomorrow; I'll have an answer for you by then," Izuku said firmly. All-Might nodded. He turned to Momo and let go. "Sorry."
"No, it's not your fault," she continued. "I'm guessing you two have a history?"
"You could say that," he said. "But that's not the reason I was apologizing."
"Then, why are you-"
"For saying you are my fiance."
"That's fine; that is what I came here for."
"Why?"
"Because if I'm not going to marry you, I'm going to marry someone else who is probably rich," Momo said. Izuku thought about it as if testing it on his tongue.
"And I'm guessing you don't like this other person?"
"It's less of that and more of there are so many rumors surrounding him, and I haven't met him, so I can't say if any of them are true. I've met you and can already disprove some rumors," Momo said. Izuku let out a sigh and relented.
"Three conditions," he said. Momo nodded with excitement. "One, if you find someone you would rather marry than you do that. Two, you do not question my business. Three, we at least hold off on the marriage for three years. If you agree to those three, I will become your fiance." She nodded. "Give me three days before you announce it; I must deal with the All-Might situation first."
"If you don't mind, you should take it."
"And why is that?"
"I don't know you that well, but if you ask me what a hero is supposed to be, I would say someone who keeps the streets clear and gives people hope. Even now, you only said yes to the marriage proposal for my sake, right?"
"Get to the point," Izuku was getting irritated.
"My point is you care about people in a way few will ever understand; if you don't say yes, then another person who isn't as morally strong will," Momo said. Izuku thought it through, and he agreed with her. He nodded.
"I see your point," Izuku continued. "Now that that is done, is there anything you want to do?"
"I've got to get back home, so walk me out?" she asked, and he nodded. Neither of them knew what to say, so they were in an uncomfortable silence. They both saw people staring at them and felt them looking. He felt malice as he approached her home. She felt people gossip about her. He shook his head and smirked a bit. "What's so funny?"
"Looks like word has gotten out already, Ms. Yaoyorozu. I'll have to remember to put a gag order in place."
"Momo," she said. He looked at her, confused. "Call me Momo."
Izuku stormed out of his house in a bad mood. He was so rushed that he overlooked Momo outside his residence. She went after him, wondering what she could give him to calm him down. If he had a quirk, it would be running rampant right now. She assumed that the talk with All-Might did not go how he expected. She grabbed his right arm as he turned around with annoyance; quite evident, his eyes softened. "Sorry, Momo," Izuku said.
"What happened?" Momo asked.
"I need to join U.A.," he said.
"Why?"
"Stupid All-Might, Dammit," he said as she was trying to calm him down.
"Won't that be weird though?"
"Only you and All-Might have seen my face. Otherwise, I have a mask," Izuku said. She nodded in understanding.
"Do it," she said. Izuku looked at her, confused, but eventually, he nodded. He went back to his house to accept All-Might's offer.
