The supernatural exists within the human realm, causing many disruptions in "normal" human life, time and time again, century to centuries over.

In command of a knock Y/n opened the door with childish excitement.

Dressed in a long coat with the hood on to shade pale skin, a dark figure blending into the dark sky stood at the doorway. "May I come in?" A scratchy voice resonated from the other side of the door frame, as if it were the first words spoken today.

Y/n reacted delightedly, much used to his late visits. "Of course, Sas! Are you staying for the night again?"

He took off his shoes and scratched the underside of Y/n's cat who was relaxed and comfy. "Sure" he responded as he straightened up. Y/n swallowed him inside a hug which he clumsily, but sincerely, returned.

"Is something wrong?", he asked in a deep, comforting tone that had lost its edge from moments before.

"No, I just missed you," She smiled.

Sasuke's eyes crinkled and he held her back while they walked to the kitchen. "Have you eaten dinner yet?" He offered, "I could make you something". Sasuke usually wasn't hungry when Y/n was around. Even then, he had learned to cook for the occasions when she was tired at night.

"No thanks, I already ate." she answered absentmindedly.

Y/n deeply loved him, and knew he felt the same for her but his late night visits were confusing: why would he only come over to stay the night with her? He had a close relationship to his family, one that Y/n had met before, and worked for their business for a good pay. At this point Y/n assumed it was for sexual pleasure, though it was contradicted by how often they laid together in a modest way, for tender comfort rather than physical gratification. She answered craftily, acting on her own means now rather than assuming Sasuke's, "Although, I would love it if you made some dessert."

Sasuke hummed, asking for which one as he got the sugar out. This innocence proved his equal infatuation with Y/n, nevertheless she frowned and gently took a hold of his elbow. "The ingredients are in my room," she elaborated close to his ear.

Sasuke paused, glancing at her, "Oh".

Y/n rolled her eyes and playfully pulled him behind her, quite contradictory to the desired mood.

"You could make the walk to your bedroom nicer. More like... this." Sasuke decided to indulge in the moment and pulled her back to him by her waist to lightly kiss her. "Or maybe this," he murmured, moving down to her neck. At the close proximity to her skin, Sasuke's stomach ached and his pupils dilated ever so slightly. Unlike his partner, Sasuke had not eaten recently. Just realizing this, he stopped to rest his head on her shoulder while Y/n played with his hair.

He stood up, an irritated expression passing by. "Let's continue another time." He looked at her, eyes half closed now.

Y/n lazily smiled through her blush. She accepted his mood changes easily, trusting from experience that he would tell her what was wrong. "Can we still go to bed? I'm sleepy", She murmured.

Her partner hummed and the two arrived at her room. Sasuke sat on the bed while Y/n changed into pajamas. They crawled into bed, Y/n almost laying right on top of his arm, and settled down.

"You always come by so late." Y/n commented, "Did you want to shower? I forgot to ask."

The other huffed, "Yeah." He got up and went to the bathroom, closing the door before passing by an empty mirror. Taking off his clothes, he used the mirror to observe the paintings behind him.

Y/n got up as well, grabbing the cat toy from the floor. She waved it around and her lovely fuzzy companion came with a jingle. Y/n cooed at her kitty, Violet, "Yes look at you, you amazing adorable predator. You absolute fuzzy warrior. You could shred me to bits, you're so strong and fierce! Yes, look at you! Look at you!". Y/n secretly considered Violet as a soul mate at the same level as Sasuke, but she considered every cat that way.

Sasuke walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later, taking the attention of the kitty.

"Are you going to attack him, are you? Yes, you are! Go, Violet!" Y/n threw a cat toy at her partner's feet. Violet prepared to pounce by wiggling and adjusting her paws.

"Y/n." Sasuke huffed. He crouched down to Violet and threw the toy under the bed. "You don't sleep with her in the same room, right?"

Y/n dramatically looked shocked and hurt, clutching her chest at where her heart was. "How dare you, of course I do! She's my fuzzy bumptchkins."

He frowned disapprovingly. "Who knows what she might do to you."

Y/n rolled her eyes and beckoned him over. He avoided her arms by getting into bed on the other side. "Sas, we should have a movie night together soon."

He grunted a response.

Y/n rolled over and hugged him from behind, brushing her fingers over his torso. "Maybe... Is this the other time you talked about?", she whispered in his ear, gently sucking on the lobe. "It's been about, what, twenty minutes," She laughed.

Sasuke's movements stuttered slightly when he turned over and pinned her arms down. "Maybe," he breathed into her ear, returning the anticipating mood.

Y/n hummed and wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him into a kiss. Sasuke felt her tongue explore his mouth and he quietly groaned, playing with it with his own. The other's rolled over his teeth starting from one side and slowed down when they got to his sharp canines. The one on top melted slightly at the contact and Y/n broke the kiss to laugh quietly. Sasuke glared at her.

"Shut up," he growled, attacking her neck.

Y/n only breathlessly laughed again and tangled her fingers in his hair.

Late at night Sasuke, restless, sat up, covers falling to drape over his lap. His gaze brushed over Y/n's peaceful shape, counting the rise and falls of her chest. He inhaled to fill his own lungs with air and sighed deeply. He was frustrated with his restlessness always clashing with her idle hours. They rarely had dates, conversations, or meals without one of them being either tired or drowsy.

Sasuke turned his gaze out the window where the round moon hung in the sky, framed by two clouds and sending a plane of light across Y/n's and the surrounding city's property. Pale fingers blocked the majority of the moon's view by closing the shutters with a click in fear of the morning's painful rays painting Sasuke's skin yellow and pink. Only a sliver of light remained.

The conscious one's vision adjusted and sharpened in the new dark. It again rested on Y/n where the last remaining streak of silver cut through her face. He heard several pats and jingles made by the cat down the hallway, but payed no attention to them. Sasuke brushed a strand of hair away from Y/n's face. The lines beneath his eyes smoothed until the silence got too loud. His count on Y/n's breath had stagnated.

The silence was once again pushed into nonexistence with louder running paws, stampeding towards the bedroom. Sharp, feline eyes glimmered at the door and before Sasuke could react, Violet was soaring over Y/n's still chest, paws imprinting the sheets.

The lines under dark eyes returned as Sasuke franticly accounted for the past few seconds of events. Y/n had momentarily stopped breathing, Violet, very much a cat (for good and for bad) had leaped directly over her paused heart, all under the light of a full moon.

Sasuke's mouth was agape.

Breaking the spell, he reached over to check for a pulse. Luckily, there was one. Unluckily, there was one.

Disguised as a miracle, a monster had been created during this cursed midnight, one Sasuke was quite familiar from experience. He knew all the symptoms of it's existence: sun-sensitive skin, dependence on human blood, crystal clear mirrors even in the presence of one, and a backwards sleep-cycle where restlessness was in the night, not day. Sasuke know these symptoms from experience because he had personally experienced them.

Sasuke was a vampire and now so was Y/n.
