Ming Dynasty Warrior: The fearless front-line soldiers who defended and reunified a 14th century China.

(A group of Ming warriors are seen readying a volley from their niao chongs upon an advancing Mongol horde. The Chinese soldiers open fire taking down several raiders in the volley.)

vs.

Russian Streltsy: The highly skilled marksman of the Russian empire who fought in the name of Ivan the Terrible.

(Some Streltsy are seen mercilessly whipping a group of helpless boyars. They then take their sablias and gruesomely cut them apart.)

WHO IS DEADLIEST?

To find out, we've assembled a team of world class fighters to test history's most lethal weapons. Using 21st century science, we'll see what happens when two warriors go toe to toe.

No rules. No safety. No mercy. It's a duel to the death to decide who is...THE DEADLIEST WARRIOR!

During their last battles both warriors were swiftly defeated by their respective opponents...

(The Ming leader slices the last Ashigaru across the face sending him spiraling into the dirt. Before he can finish him off he is shot straight in the chest by the Japanese foot soldier's osutzu.)

...but now, each warrior will be given a chance for redemption and will face off in a five-on-five battle to the death.

(The Streltsy leader is stabbed in the gut by the Swiss Guard's flamberge. The Swiss then pulls the blade out and brings it down onto his neck enough to pierce his heart.)

Here in our elite fight club we have gathered doctors, medical scientists and weapons experts to test out the lethal arsenals wielded by each of our combatants to determine who would win a fight between two innovative black-powder warriors.

Ming Dynasty Warrior

Circa: 1522 A.D.

Height: 5'7''

Weight: 150 lbs.

Armor: Steel Lamellar, Iron Helmet

Russian Streltsy

Circa: 1552 A.D.

Height: 5'10''

Weight: 160 lbs.

Armor: Plated Chainmail, Fluted Helmet

''This is a fun battle and a good way to start the modern section of redemption.'' Barry Jacobsen started, ''We've got two innovative warriors who were famous for their use of black-powder weaponry.''

''Indeed it is, you have the Ming Dynasty warriors who were easily the greatest defenders of the country's history. They repelled the Mongols and unified China. Then we have the Streltsy, now these guys were the famous marksmen who fought under Ivan the Terrible and helped expand his empire through their amazing marksmanship skills.'' Geoff explained in excitement.

''Defender versus aggressive expansionist. It's this type of match that I really like.'' Dorian added.

''Now, for the Ming's sake we will be bumping them up to 1522 since we don't want them to use something that would lead to their downfall like how it was when they went against the Ashigaru. So therefore they'll be having access to better firearms that can at least compare to the Streltsy's pischal.'' Barry concluded.

The defenders of China brought with them a highly innovative arsenal that repelled all adversaries.

Short Range: Dao

Mid-Range: Guan Dao

Long Rang: Niao Chong

Special: Duan Dao

And for the Streltsy they brought into battle a well-balanced arsenal that allowed them to be effective at all ranges.

Short Range: Sablia

Mid-Range: Bardiche

Long Range: Pischal

Special: Kindjal

For close range combat these two warriors used different designed swords to slash and hack their opponents to pieces. The Ming dao and the Streltsy sablia.

The team now review the footage of both weapons in their debut episodes. After that they discuss among themselves on what they should do. Let's see what they say.

''We've seen the swords tested against armor before but not against their competition today. So let's see what they can do.'' Geoff said.

Experts Yao Ming and Vladimir Orlov stand in front of torsos outfited in the armor of the competition.

''Okay guys, one strike to the chest and one blow to the helmet. Begin when ready.'' Geoff said.

With that, Vladimir swings with all his might striking the steel lamellar striking it with enough force to send a clang echoing across the fight club. Meanwhile Yao thrusts his dao piercing through the chainmail portion of the armor spilling some stage blood. Both experts then rear back for a downward chop and both swords strike their opposing helmets with a jarring clang.

''Halt the attack!" Geoff called out as they walk over to gauge the damage.

''I'll go and check the torso and the chainmail with plate. Yao's first attack saw about three inches of penetration and you did cut into the skin, just a flesh wound at best. Your strike to the helmet registered about 34 PSI which would daze him at most. '' Dorian explained.

He then moves over to Vladimir with the Ming's steel lamellar.

''And for you Vladimir the hit on the steel lamellar only created a dent into the armor and judging by the readings we picked up you are probably going to break one rib at most. He's just winded is all. Now with the helmet you did dent it a little and he most likely has a concussion.''

''Looks like my armor holds true.'' Boasted Yao.

''Don't get too cocky Yao, we still have weapons that can leave more than a mark on your armor.'' Vladimir retorted.

After testing the swords against the armor of the competition they then review the swords once more before comparing them physically. Let's see what their decision is.

''Now with these two swords they are definitely good at slicing someone apart but the thing that stood out for me was the dao, it's superb at slashing but then it can also stab which would be really helpful against the Streltsy's chainmail. So I stand with the dao on this one.'' Geoff started.

''I agree as well, not to mention the Ming are trained in martial arts so they're more proficient with their sword.'' Dorian seconded.

''You took the words right out of my mouth. Dao all the way.'' Barry concluded.

For short range weapons, the edge goes to the Ming Warrior for the dao.

For mid-range weapons our warriors brought to the table two lethal polearms capable of hacking their enemies into mutilation. The Ming Guan Dao and the Streltsy bardiche.

The panel now reviews the testing of both weapons in their debut episodes and the decision isn't really that hard to make.

''Despite the bardiche capable of causing extreme damage and making you look like a chopped flesh mess, I gotta go with the Guan Dao for better freedom of movement despite weighing more.'' Geoff started.

''I'm siding with the bardiche based on it's damage alone.'' Dorian countered.

''Sorry doc, the bardiche is only really good for hacking people. The Guan Dao can slash and stab effectively and one good swing can take out the Streltsy's armor.'' Barry concluded.

For mid-range weapons, the edge goes to the Ming Warrior for the Guan Dao.

Now for long range weapons both warriors were proficient marksman wielding two firearms of a high caliber.

The team now reviews the testing of the Streltsy's pischal in it's debut episode. After a few minutes they conclude that it will have no problem penetrating the Ming's steel lamellar.

''We've seen the pischal take out similar armor before, now let's test out the Ming's niao chong and though it's pretty much the arquebus I want to see it's damage capabilities against the Streltsy's armor.'' Geoff said.

Yao stands ready with his niao chong all loaded and ready to go. He will fire one round at a torso outfitted in the Streltsy's plated chainmail.

''Alright Yao, on 3...2...1...fire at will!'' Geoff shouted out.

Yao takes aim at the torso, taking a few breaths he then slowly squeezes the trigger and suddenly the gun fires. The round penetrating the left side of the chest going straight through a plate.

'Nice, let's see what we've got.'' Geoff said.

''I'm seeing pretty good accuracy here, the shot hit this guy straight through his left lung collapsing it. It won't kill him but he is totally down and out.'' Dorian explained.

''Still not impressed, the pischal is better and more accurate.'' Vladimir said with a shrug.

After gauging the niao chong's power and capability to penetrate armor, the team then discuss among themselves before coming to another easy conclusion.

''We've seen this test already, the pischal has a rear and front sight and that helps a lot with accuracy.'' Geoff said.

''The niao chong performed near identical to the Swiss Guard's arquebus and that, well the edge stays the same. Also, the Streltsy have the bardiche at the ready. Edge Pischal.'' Dorian seconded.

''When you're talking about iron sights, it's front sight focus, steady trigger squeeze. Edge pischal.'' Barry concluded.

In long range weapons, the edge goes to the Streltsy for the pischal.

Now we conclude the weapon's testing with the sidearms our warriors wielded into battle. The Ming Duan Dao and the Streltsy's kindjal.

The team reviews the testing of the kindjal in it's debut appearance and after noting it's length and damage potential we move on to the new special weapon for the Ming.

Yao walks over with his weapon in hand. ''This here is the duan dao you guys. It's basically a curved dao reminiscent of a saber with a blade that measures about a foot long and weighed 2 pounds and made of steel.''

''And to test that out we've set up another torso outfitted in the Streltsy's armor. Go ahead and get into position. Two strikes too'' Geoff said

Yao walks over to the torso and awaits the signal from Geoff.

''Okay now, 3...2...1...Attack!'' Geoff called out.

''FOR THE MING DYNASTY!'' Yao yelled out as he thrusts the blade into the center of the armor getting in between the plates piercing through the mail. Withdrawing it he then thrusts the duan dao into the left lung, the chainmail portion failing to protect the torso.

''Halt!'' Geoff called out as Dorian walks over to inspect the damage.

''I'm seeing fair penetration here with these two strikes. The first one actually managed to cut into the aorta and that as we all know instantly kills you. For the second attack you dropped his lung which isn't a kill but a surely debilitating injury. So one strike out of two is a kill.''

After testing out the duan dao and reviewing the kindjal test footage which one does the panel believe takes the edge?

''I'm basing my edge on the blade's design and the armor the opposition is wearing. The duan dao has no problem piercing the chainmail portions of the Streltsy armor while I can see the kindjal having problems with the lamellar. So edge duan dao.'' Geoff started.

''I agree as well, you literally took the words out of my mouth.'' Dorian added.

''What Doc said. Edge duan dao.'' Barry concluded.

For special weapons the edge goes to the Ming warrior for their duan dao.

And now for armor we will now decide which one is more effective in the protection of it's wearer.

''I'm giving my 100% edge to the Ming's armor for sheer protection against everything the Streltsy is bringing. Except the pischal of course but you know.'' Geoff said

''The Streltsy's mail falls to every weapon the Ming has. I have to give it to the Ming's lamellar.'' Dorian seconded

''Ming lamellar all the way. The Streltsy's bladed weapons would leave a dent or even daze the Ming at best while everything the Ming has will defeat the Streltsy's armor. The only thing the Streltsy can use to pierce the lamellar is the pischal.'' Barry concluded

For the armor category the edge goes to the Ming Warrior for the steel lamellar.

Coming up! Barry gauges the x-factors and our redemption battle between these two innovative warriors begin!

Welcome back to the fight club, here we tested the weapons and armor wielded by two highly lethal blackpowder marksmen.

For short range weapons, the Ming's dao proved to be more effective on foot over the Streltsy's sablia.

''Since the dao can easily slash and thrust without any difficulty and the Ming are using their sword with better skill outdoes the sablia's superior length.'' Geoff explained.

Edge: Ming Dynasty Warrior

For mid-range weapons, the Ming's guan dao proved more powerful and more versatile than the Streltsy's bardiche.

''The bardiche is no doubt a very deadly weapons that can cause unimaginable trauma. However, since the guan dao can slash and stab with good results combined with the Ming's superior skill makes it lose out against the guan dao.''

Edge: Ming Dynasty Warrior

For long range weapons, the Streltsy's pischal outshot the Ming's niao chong.

''Since the pischal has front and rear sights it means that the shots it gets off will be more accurate. Plus the larger pan allowing for extra pre-loaded gunpowder means it reloads faster and not to mention the bardiche acts as a stand.''

Edge: Russian Streltsy

For special weapons, the Ming's duan dao's ability to pierce through the Streltsy's armor outdid the kindjal.

''Since the duan dao can pierce the opposing armor unlike the kindjal we had to give the edge to it. Plus, like with the other bladed weapons the Ming are better trained in close combat.''

Edge: Ming Dynasty Warrior

And finally, the Ming's steel lamellar proved more protective over the Streltsy's plated chainmail.

''The armor the Ming wears will protect them against all the bladed weapons the Streltsy are bringing in. For the Streltsy their armor falls to every single weapon the Ming are using and that's why the Chinese warriors get the edge.'' Geoff concluded.

Edge: Ming Dynasty Warrior

And now Barry will gauge the x-factors of both warriors.

Alright, let's get these x-factors going.' Barry said taking a seat in front of the simulator.

''For training the Ming had a 94 to the Streltsy's 87 because they were trained in various forms of martial arts.''

''Second is physicality and the Streltsy have a 90 to the Ming's 86.''

''Next is killer instinct and the Ming scored a 92 to the Streltsy's 89.''

''For loyalty the Ming took it with a 95 to the Streltsy's 81. The Streltsy were weary of Ivan since he was a psycho which made it hard for them to fully trust the man.''

''Fifth is ferocity and the Ming had a 94 to the Streltsy's 89.''

''Last is intimidation and the Streltsy had a 90 while the Ming will be rated an 85. I think you know why the Streltsy have this.''

Barry has now finished gauging the x-factors of our warriors. He will now run the simulator one-thousand battles to the death pitting 5 Ming Dynasty soldiers against 5 Russian Streltsy.

Who will win between the fearless defenders against the aggressive expansionists?

''Let's see who wins it.'' He said pressing the button.

The battle takes us to the smoldering ruins of the Great wall of China. The Ming dynasty has been battling it out with a new enemy from Russia. Currently this new conflict has been fought to a standstill with the Russians unable to get past the walls.

On a section of the wall we see 5 Ming warriors resting while tending to their weapons. They have been ordered by their Emperor to guard this particular area and are ready to engage any enemy.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 5

A football field away in the forested area below we see five Russian Streltsy. They've been sent by Ivan the Terrible himself to scout this area to find a weakness in the Ming army's defenses. They came prepared all armed and ready to fight ready to make China part of their empire.

Russian Streltsy: 5

The Streltsy continue their walk until they finally come across the wall. The leader halts his men when he spots movement about 10 meters up and sees the Ming walking about.

He orders his two men wielding pischals and they take prepare to fire. The Ming hear the commotion and spot the Streltsy scrambling for their weapons.

''Kàn! Èluósī rén zài wǒmen de qiánxiàn! Měi gèrén dōu zhǔnbèi hǎole!" The Ming captain shouted and his two men armed with their niao chong take aim at the Russians.

The two musketeers on each side simultaneously fire their weapons and one Streltsy is unlucky and takes a lead ball that goes straight through his nose blowing out the back of his skull.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 5 - Russian Streltsy: 4

One of the Ming musketeers wasn't so lucky either and a lead ball penetrates his armor blowing through his heart. His body falls forward off the wall landing on the ground with a sickening crunch.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 4 - Russian Streltsy: 4

The Streltsy captain then draws his sablia and orders his men to charge forth. Two of his men wield kindjals while his musketeer charges with his bardiche. Seeing the Russians charge the Ming captain draws his dao and shouts at his men to charge.

Drawing their weapons the Ming warriors climb down the wall via a crumbled area of it and run towards the charging Russians. The two sides come within reach of each other and meet in a clash of steel.

A Ming warriors armed with a dao challenges a Streltsy armed with a sablia. The Streltsy goes in for a swing only for the Chinese warrior to jump back before dashing forward with his dao pointed towards him.

The Streltsy tries to dodge the the Ming's attack but the dao pierces through his chainmail getting him in the aorta. The Russian coughs up blood and is finished off when the Ming swings his dao and slices the Russian across the face.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 4 - Russian Streltsy: 3

The Ming's victory is short lived when he is struck in the side by a bardiche knocking the wind out of him. Clutching his side he is taken down when the bardiche comes down onto his face splitting it completely in half.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 3 - Russian Streltsy: 3

Elsewhere we see the remaining Ming and Streltsy exchange blows. The Ming second-in-command swings his guan dao at a Streltsy and manages to slice into the chainmail. The blow cutting into his skin.

The Russian grunts in pain before dodging another swing and charges the Ming with his kindjal in hand. The Ming kicks him away and brings up his guan dao and the Streltsy is sliced through his neck severing his arteries. The man choking for a bit before collapsing.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 3 - Russian Streltsy: 2

The Streltsy leader duels is seen dueling with a Ming warrior who attempts to decapitate him only to dodge the blow. Swiftly drawing his kindjal he thrusts the dagger into the Chinese warrior's gut. The Ming stopping in his tracks and spits out blood from his mouth before the Streltsy leader slits his throat.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 2 - Russian Streltsy: 2

Back with the Ming second-in-command, he turns to face the Streltsy leader who has regrouped with his last soldier, with his adrenaline kicking he then charges towards the two Russians.

''Ubey etu kitayskuyu podonok!'' The Streltsy ordered after spotting the Ming.

The other Streltsy charges forward with his sablia and goes in for a swing. The Ming warrior raises his guan dao to intercept the blow blade. The stronger swing of the guan dao knocks the sablia straight out of the Streltsy's grasp and he is finished off with a thrust to the chest.

The chainmail pierced and the guan dao's blade getting his heart.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 2 - Russian Streltsy: 1

The Ming's victory is short lived when the Streltsy captain thrust his kindjal through the back of his skull killing him instantly.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 1 - Russian Streltsy: 1

Pushing the corpse off his blade he puts it back in his sheath before taking out his sablia.

''Yaaaarrrrgggh!'' A voice yelled out.

Looking up at the crumbled section of the great wall he spots the Ming captain flailing around his dao like an awkward sissy. Scoffing at the sight before him he rushes up to the top of the wall.

After ascending the obstacle he turns and looks to where he had seen the Ming but no one is there. Suddenly he is attacked from behind when the Ming captain leaps out from behind a pile barrels and swings the dao.

The dao strikes the Russian on the helmet knocking it off of his head. The bow was also enough to send the Russian stumbling towards the edge of the wall.

Hitting the wall with his back the Russian goes in for a swing only to have the Ming bring his dao downward knocking the blade to the ground. Before the Streltsy can recover the Ming had stomped on the sablia's blade pinning the Streltsy's hand to the ground.

The Ming raises his dao to finish the fight but the Streltsy releases the sablia and quickly draws his kindjal and thrusts it forward. The blade hitting the Ming in his lamellar but just bounces off harmlessly.

The Chinese warrior then kicks the Streltsy in the face knocking him sideways to the ground, he then takes his duan dao from it's sheath. The Streltsy tries to get back to his feet but the Ming rushes over and delivers another kick to the face knocking his head against the concrete dazing him.

Holding his head in pain the Russian tries to get up but before he could even get to his knees the Ming thrusts his duan dao straight into his gut.

Screaming in pain the Streltsy tries to shove the Chinese warrior away to no avail. Twisting his duan dao the Ming then yanks it out before thrusting it into the Streltsy's chest, the chainmail not protecting him.

Coughing up blood the Russian lifts his head up to look at the Ming. Gritting his teeth he then spits out a glob of blood before being pushed towards the edge of the wall.

With one last push the Ming sends him stumbling towards the ground, we hear his screams before a thud is heard. Peering over the edge the Ming gives one look at the corpse. Broken and mangled.

Ming Dynasty Warrior: 1 - Russian Streltsy: 0

With victory being his the Ming leader raises his duan dao into the air while yelling triumphantly.

Following a battle between two of our most ferocious black powder warriors. It would be the Ming Dynasty Warriors who redeem themselves. Their superior armor, training and their martial arts allowing them to push onward to victory. The Streltsy were only effective at long range with their superior pischal which destroyed the niao chong, but it wasn't enough.

''It makes sense the Ming won, they were better trained, better armored and had a lot of surprises up their sleeves.'' Geoff commented.

''I thought the Streltsy's much superior firearm would've won the day for them, but armor does help a lot. So I guess I'm not too surprised the Ming took it because when these two closed the distance the Ming were superior swordfighters.'' Dorian said.

''It was definitely a nice battle between two awesome black-powder warriors. Great job to the both of you. The title of deadliest black-powder warriors in the loser's bracket belongs to the Ming Dynasty Warriors.'' Barry concluded.

(With the battle over, the Ming captain is seen resting beside a crumbled section of the great wall. Laid on the ground beside him are the bardiche, pischals and sablias the Streltsy used to kill his men with. He smiles knowing that these weapon designs are unlike anything he has ever seen and will greatly assist him fellow soldiers in battling the Mongols and Russians in the future.)

Next time on redemption. It's another round of communism versus fascism when two hated enemies of the United States collide.

Korean People's Army: North Korea's communist soldiers hell bent on reuniting Korea under communist rule.

vs.

Wehrmacht: The evil soldiers of Adolf Hitler who conquered Europe during World War two.
