Distorted blinked. Alabastor..? It sounded familiar in his mind. He traced for a reference in his past memories. The skywing started at him with anticipation and he felt the truth was on the tip of his tongue.
"Before I tell you," Distorted reasoned. "What is your name, and why are you looking for an Icewing?" In all honestly he still couldn't quite remember but he was sure it would catch up to him in a moment. Might as well use the information as leverage if he could.
Her golden eyes twitched and she hesitated, but complied. "My name is Robin." Distorted glanced at her and nodded. From the robins he'd seen during breeding time in the Ice Kingdom, she did look like one in a way. She had bright orangey scales around her face and chest while her other scales were duller red and scarlet. She even had a few white and grey accents down her spine. "So," Robin growled, impatient. "You know who he is?"
"I've heard of him," Distorted admitted. "Can't recall quite where or when. Why are you looking for him?" He pushed on to discover why she wanted so bad to learn of this Icewing. Even though Distorted was sure he didn't really know this Alabastor, he still wouldn't want to lead an assasin to the poor dragon.
"He took something from me," Her wings drooped and she seemed mournful. "It belonged to both of us, but he took it for himself." Now she was growling, looking up and flexing her claws, but she ceased in a moment. "I can tell that you are wondering little dragon. I have no intention of hurting him." Robin met Distorted's eyes and she seemed quite sincere.
Distorted though for a moment, then folded. "Do you have any more information on Alabastor that could help me identify him?"
"Well," She thought, losing her menacing stature as she pondered. "He would be around my age, super pale baby blue, with the darkest blue eyes I've ever seen."
"That's what a lot of Icewings look like," Distorted sighed. "Did you say he had scarring? That would probably make him more noticable."
Robin nodded, deciding on how to describe this Alabastor. "The scarring was a result of a Rainwing. Oh! He was also around one talon sho..."
Distorted's mind blocked out her rambling words as his mind raced faster and faster. Rainwing? I only know of one dragon that has that... But Father's name is Drip... but it didn't used to be.
"Wait!" Distorted yelled, stopping Robin in her tracks. "How old are you?"
Robin smiled, seeming excited and scared at the prospet that he had figured out who it was. "I'm 28 years, he would have been scarred around 8 years ago, when he stole our item."
Distorted felt a surge in his stomach and he had to strain it before he began speaking again. It sounds like the story Father told me time and time again. "Was he a grumpy stick in the ice?"
"No... he was lively." Robin's face fell. "He did get angry easily sometimes... he may have changed after he got hit with the venom though."
Distorted's chest continued to heave and he decided. "I know this dragon named Drip who fits that description, he changed his title after he was hit with Rainwing venom." I won't tell her he's my dad, then I could get involved... I need to find migraine.
"Does he have a dragonet?" She pleaded.
"Yes," Distorted was now treading lightly around this conversation. "I'm not sure why-"
Robin seemed joyous now and even stood up, almost like a pet seal. "Ok," She glanced around, jittering as she thought. "C-could you bring him to me?" Distorted blinked. Father won't leave the Ice Kingdom for anything, especially if this dragon is looking for something he seemed to have wanted so badly to have stolen it. And why would she want to know if he had a dragonet? Would she attempt to use him as leverage over his Father?
"He hasn't left the Ice Kingdom in years," He admitted. "At least I don't think!" Distorted quickly added a wall between him and his father. Act like you don't know him-
"Tell him Robin wants to meet him," She said, her wings drooping as she scrapped the ground. "I think he would come to that, unless he really is as hardened as you say."
Distorted barely held back a laugh. His father had never ever done something like that for anyone, not even himself. "I..." He hesitated, then his neck snapped up. "I have to find Princess Migraine, I cannot do your little mission now."
Robin sighed, pressing the pendant on her neck. What is that? I wonder if it is animus touched. With that a bunch of dragons entered the small room, and Distorted could feel the air heating as he gained a sense of claustrophobia. When he got over the suffocation he was feeling, Distorted was amazed. There were dragons from every tribe, except a rainwing, among the dragons. There was even an Icewing.
"Sastruga!" Robin called. The Icewing perked her head. She seemed around 9, which would be a year older than Distorted. He had never seen her before. "Please take our friend here to the Ice Kingdom to retrieve a dragon named Drip."
"What?!" Distorted leapt up, but the chains help him back. "I told you I need to find the missing princess! She could be dead or being tortured!" Sastruga looked uninterested at this remark and nodded to Robin.
"I thought you were looking for an Icewing named Alabastor?" Sastruga spoke. She had an accent he had never heard before from an Icewing, almost reminding him of a Sandwing and a Skywing.
"It appears he has changed his name," Robin filled her in, and she nodded once again.
"Anything to repay you Robin," Sastruga smiled "I'll be ready to leave in the morning." She and all the other dragons exited, including Robin who gave Distorted a toothy smile.
As soon as the door closed, Distorted tugged at his chains, breathing some frostbreath on them. It came out weak, but he was still able to snap the chains. He then turned to the bars. I'm not going with no Icewing named Sastruga... I need to find Migraine. He blew some more frost, but it slid of the bars and melted. Distorted cocked his head, stepping towards the bars. He gingerly touched them. They were warm, on the verge of hot, and meant that ice just melted off of them.
Distorted growled, turning to the ground. He found a stone ledge in the room and jumped on it. It was far enough from the heated bars that the rock was cold. His mind lingered to sleep, tracing over his trivial day. "I will find you Migraine," He mumbled as his mind slipped into slumber.
