"I have a question," Ruth said.
"Go on," Yahsourah smiled.
"When it comes to atoning for sins, what does GOD want? How should a person be punished for sinning?"
Yahsourah sighed inwardly.
"Okay," She said, "Listen up. GOD doesn't want people punished for sinning. That is a misconception."
"It is?" literally the entire tent asked in unison.
"When you sin all you have to do is apologize to GOD. Next, if you hurt another person by that sin you apologize to them and make amends if you can and if that person thinks it's necessary. GOD never wants people to be hurt."
"Hold on," James asked, "Doesn't the bible say spare the rod and spoil the child?"
"No," Yahsourah said, "That's a poem written about 100 years ago."
"Really. I thought somewhere it said-"
"Psalms 23 says "thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. It doesn't say, "thy rod and thy staff they hurt me. The rod wasn't used by shepherds to hit the sheep but to keep them from falling off cliffs."
The next week Yahsourah was playing with some friends. They were playing hide and seek when suddenly a lady came with her little daughter.
"My name is Batyah," the lady said, "And this is my daughter Ahouva. She has episodes of shaking and she falls to the floor. We've almost lost her several times. I've heard of your gift and I was wondering if you would heal her."
"She has a demon in her," Yahsourah said.
"She's only three," Batyah exclaimed looking horrified.
She had been taught that demonic forces were the result of sin.
"At least," she added, "Tell me it was the result of my sin, not hers?"
"Demonic possession is not the result of sin. Get out of this young girl right now!" Yahosourah told the demon sternly.
The demon immediately obeyed her. He didn't have a choice.
"I was taught my whole life that afflictions were the result of sin," Batyah exclaimed in astonishment.
"That's what the Pharisees and Sadducees believe," Yahsourah replied with all the authority of Her Father, "And they are wrong."
A few moments later there was a young woman and several men chasing her.
"STOP," Yahsourah said, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY DO YOU HAVE STONES IN YOUR HAND."
"This woman slept with a man who wasn't her husband," one man explained, "She has to be stoned."
"Really? She was sleeping with someone else? Where is the person she was sleeping with?"
