At said lobby, Cole was facing Lloyd, Kai, Jay, Zane, Nya, Geoff, Gewuji, Blake, Maggie, Dragon and Hayden, who were by the stairs, wearing their shoulder pads, boots and accessories again. Hayden was dressed in just his t-shirt, pants and shoes. Jay soon yawned. "So let me get this straight." He said. "You pulled us out of the most luxurious bed ever..."
"It felt like a cloud of warm contentment." Nya said, agreeing with her husband while having her hands on her jaw.
"...because you saw a creature in your bedroom?"
"Yes, I told you, it tried to attack me, and when I fought back, it ran off somewhere!" Cole said. "It disappeared. But get this, the weirdest part is that the creature was wearing my mother's necklace!" Everyone looks at each other, a little suspicious about his story. Pretty soon, Gewuji started to laugh. "What's so funny?"
"Oh, sorry." She replied. "It's gonna be hard to believe something like that."
"Gewuji has a point, Cole." Lloyd said, coming up to him. "Are you sure this really happened, like, in reality?"
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I believe he is implying that you were dreaming." Zane replied.
Maggie then raises her left index and middle fingers, and her thumb. "How many fingers am I holding up?" She asked.
"Two and a thumb." Cole replied.
"Then, you are in the real world, instead of a dream."
"It wasn't a dream! I recognised it right away! It had a picture of my parents inside it."
"So, where is it?" Nya asked.
"Well, I don't have it on me. The creature grabbed it back before he vanished. Even scratched me to get away." He shows them his bandaged arm.
Kai simply yawned and stretched. "Cole, buddy, go back to bed." He said, disbelieving him.
"It must've been a dream, Cole." Dragon said. "Because I do not recall your mother ever having a locket."
"She did!" He replied. "I've seen pictures of it. We have to tell King Vangelis!"
"Whoa, slow down." Lloyd said. "It's not that we don't believe you-"
"I don't believe him." Jay said, coming up behind Lloyd, leaving him unamused.
"We're guests here."
"Lloyd's right." Blake said. "We can't wake the King in the middle of the night. We may even get thrown out."
"But-"
"No buts, Cole." Geoff cuts Cole up as he gets up. "I'm going back to bed."
"With earplugs." Maggie said as she came up to her husband to lean on his shoulder, snoring a little.
"Next time you have a dream, don't express it in front of us." Hayden said, getting up. "Or even walk in on me and Gewuji having an intercourse."
They start to leave as Cole simply watched them. "Cole, go to sleep." Dragon said, getting up. "We can discuss this in the morning, okay?" Cole frowned before he started to follow them as someone looked on from behind a column that was next to a tree, which loses a few leaves.
(A/N: Yeah, mentioning Cole bursting in on Mantis and Gewuji having an intercourse... I'm gonna do a one-shot about it)
Cole walks along the hallway, angered at the others disbelieving him before he hears some scraping and turns his head as someone was following him. The individual moves along the columns, trying to keep silent, until they pass a column, and Cole had seemingly disappeared, confusing them. As they continue on, Cole, who was behind the column the individual last saw him, charges at them, his Earth Punch activated. "Ha, got you now, you little purple bas-" He cuts himself off when he realises it was Vania who was following him. "Oh, Princess Vania?" He deactivates his Earth Punch and puts his hands on his head. "Oh, crap, sorry. I thought you were someone else, I swear!"
"I heard what you said back there." She said, coming closer as he backed away, a little nervous. "About the little purple creature."
"Oh, great." He sarcastically spoke to himself. "Another person who thinks I'm imagining things."
"Oh, I don't think that at all."
Cole was soon surprised. "You don't?"
"When I was a child, I thought I had an imaginary friend. A little purple creature who used to follow me around. Now, I'm starting to wonder if my imaginary friend was a real friend. Follow me. This way!" She grabs his arm and drags him back down the hallway.
Outside in the palace gardens, Cole and Vania move along it. "Here!" She points ahead of the bridge.
"The palace gardens?"
"This is where Mr. Sparkles and I used to play." They start to walk across the bridge. "That's what I called him. All the adults insisted I dreamed him up in my head, but I swear, he used to come right up out of there." She points to a nearby tunnel that is covered by a barred grate. "There used to be some mines under the city, but my father ordered them all covered up for the public safety."
"Mines?" He drops down from a ledge to head over to the grate.
"Long ago before my people settled here, there was an older city, run by this super evil sorcerer, who built tunnels, and mines, and dungeons deep in the mountain." Cole turns back towards her. "He's gone now but the dungeons are still there, so my father forbade anyone from entering them. It's too dangerous."
Cole turns back to the grate. "Look, princess, forbidden or not, I have to find out how my mom's necklace ended up with that purple dude."
"Okay, I'm in." She suddenly gets out two torches, seemingly already lit before dropping down the ledge as Cole was surprised.
"Uh, are those...? Where did you...?"
"'Always onward.' The adventurer's motto."
"If the king finds out-"
"I'm not some small child anymore. I'm almost 21, which means, I'm old enough to decide things on my own."
"Well, in that case..." Cole brings his fists together, activating his Earth Punch, turns to the grate, pulls it off and moves it aside. He then deactivated his Earth Punch and takes a torch from Vania. "Always onward." They start heading down the tunnel. "And in to the mines of an evil sorcerer."
"I remember so many incredible stories about the evil sorcerer told by candlelight."
They stop by multiple tunnels. "He was called Hazza D'Ur." They turn left. "Isn't that creepy? People had weird names back then, I guess. And he had all these evil powers and-" She cuts herself off when she notices something. "Oh, look!" She points out to them. "Train tracks. I wonder where those go?" They turn to the left and head down it.
What laid ahead was the tracks being broken apart, leaving a twisted track, with a massive gap on either side, filled with lava. The heat from the lava caused them to instantly sweat. "Uh, let's take the other tunnel." They turn back and head for the other tunnel.
"So anyway, a long, long, long time ago, the evil sorcerer was vanquished and they say his bones are still down here in this mountain somewhere. Maybe we'll see them. Wouldn't that be great?"
"Uh..." Cole tries to think of an excuse. "Yeah, great."
They exit the tunnel to come across an underground cavern before stopping when they see what looked like a temple with a skull by the side, lava flowing through its mouth, some watch towers and some cages hanging from cranes. "Wow!" They soon hear a creature growling before they turn right and crouch down behind some rocks to see many black skeletons looking at a lot of purple skinned creatures and green skinned creatures, all cuffed with balls and chains by their waists, excavating while horned creatures were pulling carts, hauling some strange rocks.
By one corner, two green skinned creatures were hitting a wall with pickaxes while a purple skinned creature came up between them to grab a rock between them. One of them notices it before growling at it, causing it quickly grab a rock and take off. The purple creature stops by a pathway, where three black skeletons were atop of, looking down before the one in the centre swung its whip to make it keep moving. It comes up to more purple creatures, who pass along rocks to another before they're put in a cart. From their position, Cole and Vania were concerned. "Oh, my. Look at all these creatures!" She points out to some purple creatures. "Those look just like Mr. Sparkles!"
"Yeah. And just like the one that was in my room." He then spotted some green creatures carrying their balls in a line. "But who are those guys?"
"I don't know. But they don't look happy. They're all chained up."
A purple creature comes on top of a horned creature, who started to move forward, coming across the line of green creatures before one drops his ball and collapses, causing the horned creature to growl and shake about before raising its hind legs and kicked the carriage, knocking some rocks off of it as well as breaking a wheel off. Rumbling was soon heard, making all the slaves and skeletons turn to the flowing lava before nothing happens, but shaking soon occurred as the flow seemingly opens up, leaving a gap to reveal a gangplank, which comes down, revealing a doorway. "Who dares?!" A person with wings, and in a black kimono, white mask and brown straw hat asked as it came out while holding a green glowing skull. "Who dares to disturb the work?"
Cole and Vania hide further behind the rocks. "Who's that?"
The person flies up in the air before charging at some of the slaves and stops. "I warned you, all of you! The work must not stop or there would be punishment!"
"Punish them!" The skull said to the person. "Punish!" The person moves the skull back before holding it out to fire a few green flashes at the slaves, who scream while the horned creature howled in fear.
Cole and Vania were shocked to see the whole event. "I don't know what's going on here, but I know a bad guy when I see one, and that is a bad guy." He said, pointing out to the person in the black kimono. Cole then turned to Vania. "Get back and tell your dad what's going on." Vania immediately heads back to the tunnel. "Tell him to bring his guards and wake up my friends."
She stops and turns back to him. "What about you?" She asked.
"I'm the Elemental Master of Earth, and I'm surrounded by earth. I'm going to do what I do best." Vania smiles before turning back to head out the tunnel.
The person heads towards the slaves. "The next to defy me shall feel-"
"Hey, buddy!" Cole cuts him off, making him turn to see him landing in the centre of the room. "Hey there. Name's Cole Smith. Ninja. Uh... I heard there was some asshole down here, chaining people up, making them work. You seen any assholes around?"
The person flinched in anger before pointing at Cole. "Get him!"
The skeletons move from their positions to head for Cole, passing through the slaves. Cole brings his fists together to activate his Earth Punch, only for them to briefly glow before fading away and he looked at them, completely shocked. "What the hell? Oh, come on!"
Some skeletons behind him start to come at him, but he turned around to punch one, causing it to come apart before he moved to punch another, which also came apart. He turns back to see some skeletons charging at him before he ran at them. He punches one in front of him, making it come apart, ducks to avoid another before spinning around to grab it and throws it at the last one, causing them both to come apart before he faces the person. "All right, now, how about you give me the keys to all of these chains before I really get ****ing angry?"
"You have meddled in the wrong place. Now, you will witness my true wrath! The wrath of the Skull Sorcerer!" He raises the skull, which started to chant an incantation.
Soon, all the skeletons Cole took down suddenly glow and levitate. "Hey, what?" They reform and stand up. "No fair!" He poises before punching two skeletons in front of him, until another one comes on top of him. Most of the slaves gasp in concern before Cole knocks it off his back until the two skeletons, reformed, grab hold of his legs, and he looks up to see more coming at him from above. "Oh, shit!" They grab onto him as more start to come onto him and converge, making him scream.
"The wrath of the Skull Sorcerer!" The skull said as the skeletons kept converging and the Skull Sorcerer laughs at his triumph.
