Chapter 5: Harmonious

Blond stripes of hair were combed back lazily. The king could see how tired he really was, all dressed up in his nightclothes. The light blue color made his face look even paler than the red. The only thing that managed to make him smile, was the duck on his shirt's pocket. "We're doing this for Charlie, get yourself together!" He demanded of himself, splashing water onto his face. He hardly heard the knock at the door as he rambled. A small click made him turn. Alastor had let himself in. He was in a red robe like shirt with matching red striped pants. The only thing out of place was the shoes he always wore.

"Are you ready Luci? The others are waiting on us." Al smiled warmly as his eyes scanned the unfamiliar room. "My, what a cozy space you have. I see you like ducks." He pointed out. "Ya... I was just fixing my hair." The king walked past the deer and slipped out the door. Al made sure to follow.

The hall was quiet, other then Al's shoes clacked against the tiles. "Don't like slippers?" Luci asked with a weak chuckle. Al looked down to see Lucifer wearing custom yellow house shoes with a heal. "I've never seen slippers with a heal before." He answered tilting his head slightly. "Oh? I think it's because hooves are uncommon among sinners. And ones that do don't normally wear shoes." Luci explained. "You have hooves?" Al took another look. "Yes. Growing horns and hooves are a normal side effect from living here." Luci become more lively, this made Al want to ask more. "Really? How did you look in heaven?"

Lucifer stopped in his tracks and held himself tightly with discomfort. "Sorry, I didn't mean to..." Al started before being interrupted. "It's alright. It's just been so long, I can't remember."

"No need to fret my dear. I was only curious. Let's hurry along now." Al placed a hand on the king's shoulder in reassurance, gaining a smile. "Thanks Al."

The deer led the king to what would normally be use as a meeting room and opened the door. A projector was mounted and showing previews to the other's, who lounged around with many assorted pillows and blankets. Tables were set up with flasks, bottles, and plastic cups for the drinks and others had chips, pretzels, jerky, popcorn, and many different kinds of candy of both fruity and chocolate varieties. "Fancy." The king hummed with a pleasant laugh. "We wanted it to feel like a theater." Charlie stepped in. Her hair was down and she wore her normal red pajamas. "But much comfier~" Angel added, barely wearing anything but lacy lingerie with stockings. He snuggled up to Husker, who was just wearing shorts. "The projector was Alastor's idea." Vaggie smiled, in her usual nightgown. "Drive ins were popular when I first found myself here. Much better than that old picture box, if I do say so myself." Al chimed in. Lucifer chuckled, "It's perfect."

Alastor grabbed some jerky and a flask before sitting comfortably on a pillow next to the king. Lucifer had sat down earlier, with a box of popcorn and chocolates, next to his daughter. Water bottles were handed to everyone, by Nifty, before the movie began. Al glanced at his shoes and silently slipped them off. He tucked his hooves into his pants, but not before Lucifer got a glimpse of them. "What a pretty color." He whispered under his breath, catching Al attention. "Thank you... I suppose." He replied. Seeing how uncomfortable the deer was Lucifer slipped his slippers off. His hooves had a yellow tint to them. Al smirked, "Yours are quite lovely as well." Luci blushed softly in response. "Thanks."

Midway through the movie, Lucifer glanced over to Al. His eyes were closed while gentle breaths made his chest move slowly up and down. He looked over to Charlie. She was snuggled up to Vaggie, who was awake herself. "You should get some sleep too your highness." She whispered with concern. "Thank you, but I'll be alright. Mind if I step out for a moment? I could bring another movie if you'd like." The king offered kindly. "I'll probably fall asleep before then. But thank you... dad." She blushed with her eyes looking down to her resting partner. Lucifer hummed happily, slipping his shoes back on. He slowly got up and made his way out the door, not noticing the demon getting up behind him. "And what are you doing?" Vaggie growled. "Giving into curiosity, if you must know. Don't worry yourself." He answered back, slipping through the door before She could protest.

Alastor walked down the hall until a faint tune got his attention. He followed the sound, making sure his hooves didn't clack against the floor as he walked. He wasn't use to walking bear foot, making him slightly uncomfortable. The door was cracked just enough for him to capture a glimpse of the king in tune with his violin. The moonlight shone through the windows with a light red hue, making the king's features glow with pinks and purples. "Marvelous~" Al breathed in aw. He watched for a moment more before the tune began to shift to a new song. One Alastor recognized. Making sure not to disturb the angel, he sunk into the shadows.

The song began with just a violin, but after playing the beginning notes a piano was introduced. Lucifer turned his head to see Alastor on the bench, gliding his fingers gracefully along the keys. They played beautifully together in the naturally lit room. Lucifer moved his feet with the rhythm, dancing closer to the piano. Their eyes met with a smile. When the song ended, Lucifer poofed his violin away and leaned on the piano. "Following me now?" He joked. "How could I resist a beautiful tune?" Al smiled, letting his claws glide along the keys. "Thank you. I've practiced for centuries. I use to let mortals challenge me, but that got old fast. Not many humans play anymore anyway." The angel rambled. Al's brow lifted with interest, "That's a shame. I would love to see you crush an opponent." The king chuckled, "You seem skilled with the piano. Did you play when you were alive?"

"Actually no. I learned shortly after arriving."

Luci hummed in amusement. "You must be a fast learner" he sat on the bench beside the demon and began to play a few keys. "Do you play as well?"

"Not as good as you, but I can play several instruments adequately."

"Impressive! Maybe you can show off more of your skills in the future."

With a wide smile, the angel stood. "We should get back. I wouldn't want to worry Charlie"

"If you insist your majesty." The deer was startled a little when Luci slammed his hands on the piano bench, leaning in close to his face. "I wish everyone would stop being so formal! It's getting on my nerves." He turned away, holding himself tightly. "I didn't mean to upset you Luci. I was just being respectful." Al stood, gently placing his hands on the king's shoulders. He wasn't use to comforting others, but he knew slow physical contact could be effective. What he didn't see was how bright the king's cheeks looked. Lucifer swallowed hard before looking back, "That's sweet Al, thanks. Now let's get back." Lucifer held up his hand to cover a big yawn. "Tried are we?" Al joked. "You have no idea."

A warm fuzzy feeling helped the king relax as no dreams plagued his mind that night. The only thing that disturbed his rest was a muffled voice. It was loud and when he heard a laugh he snuggled closer to whatever pillow was cradling his head.

Alastor's ear flicked when he heard Angel snicker from across the room. "Leave them alone Angel." Vaggie warned. The spider was holding back a laugh, turning it into a snort. "But they are so cute together~" He cooed, returning to a chuckling mess. "Those two are some of the most powerfully beings in hell. I wouldn't mind if they slept longer." Husk whispered, holding Angel back. "Charlie... hun, it's time to get up" Vaggie gently rocked her girlfriend awake. "Hu?" The princess sat up slowly, rubbing the sleep away from her eyes. "What time is... AW~!" Charlie swooned. All the noise made Alastor growl sleepily, "What is so amusing?" He tried sitting up, but felt a heavy weight on his chest. It was in this moment, his question was answered. The king was laying there sound asleep, snuggling close. His head on the deer's chest and his arm wrapped around the torso. "Don't wake him Alastor." Charlie whispered. "But..." he began to protest. "It would be rude to wake up his highness." Angel joked. Husker only smiled before being pushed out by Vaggie. "We'll help you up before breakfast, just make sure he gets some more rest." Charlie smiled, "He would appreciate it. I promise this won't leave the hotel." She bounced out of the room, shutting the door behind her. Al let his head lean back with a sigh. A clawed hand of his combed through tangled blond locks. "What am I going to do with you Hu?" He asked, voice soft and without a filter. His cheeks felt warm for a moment as Lucifer began to shuffle. His head lifted tiredly, making Al's heart pound. He couldn't decide what to do and before he could make a decision, Lucifer's eyes met his. "G..good morning Luci. Sleep well?" He tried to gain his composure. The king eyes fluttered in disbelief and with a deep blush, "Alastor? I... um..." He felt dizzy for a moment, laying his head back down to hear the demon's heart pound against his ear. "Lucifer..." Al called, gaining his attention. The blond sat up quickly, covering his face in embarrassment. "I'm so sorry!" He mumbled. "It's alright dear... Did you at least sleep well?" Al asked, sitting up beside him. Their shoulders brushed against one another as Al leaned forward to see Luci's panicked face. Wings burst open and surrounded the king's small frame.

Hidden in a cocoon, the angel breathed heavily. The pounding in his head and chest was beginning to overwhelm the kings nerves. He expected Al to get up and leave but an unexpected sensation made him jump. One set of wings opened slightly, making a window. The demon was preening the messy mass of feathers, claws straightening anything out of place. "What are you doing?" Luci asked, his voice a bit shaky. "Grooming... you clearly can't do it yourself." Al teased. "I can too!" He argued, wings opening up with a flutter. "There you are~ Now stop moving." He demanded with a smile. Luci smirked, "You really don't have to do that."

"Well if I don't no one will."

The king huffed and closed his eyes for a moment. The familiar sensation made him uncomfortable. "I would rather do it myself." He protested. Al stopped and looked over at him. "I'm almost done, just bear with me for a moment."

Luci nodded and when Al signaled of its completion, he fluffed them out. They felt lighter than usual. "Why do they feel differently?" He mumbled. "I'm not sure. Maybe because they aren't a jumbled mess."

The door suddenly slid open, and Charlie poked her head in. "Morning Dad, Al. Breakfast is ready when you are."

"Thanks sweetheart. Al, you hungry?" Luci fluttered up and held out a hand to Alastor, who took it happily.

A/N: things will start speeding up. I guess I was just enjoying the little encounters as one does. Thanks for reading as always.
