My family and I are moving to Michigan. My name is James Knudson, but everyone calls me J.D. My parents, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew are all moving into our new multi-million dollar mansion in Royal Woods, Michigan.
"I'm going to take a walk around the neighborhood," I said.
"Be careful, okay?" Sumner replied.
As I walked through the neighborhood, I made my way along Franklin Avenue, discovering a chaotic scene at 1216 Franklin Avenue that left me bewildered.
"Wow, that house is absolute chaos!" I exclaimed.
Just then, I accidentally bumped into someone.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention to where I was going," I apologized.
To my surprise, it was a boy named Lincoln.
"No worries, it happens to the best of us," Lincoln said with a smile. "You must be new around here. I'm Lincoln Loud."
We shook hands, and I introduced myself. "I'm James Knudson, but feel free to call me J.D. My family and I just relocated from Castle Rock, Colorado, and we're now living in that grand mansion just a block southwest of here." I pointed behind me, gesturing to my new home.
Lincoln's eyes widened. "That's awesome! Let me introduce you to my family."
"Sounds great," I replied, looking forward to meeting them.
Lincoln led me inside his house, which was roughly the same size as my old place.
"Welcome to the Loud House," he said with a grin. "Let me give you the grand tour."
As we made our way to the kitchen, Lincoln introduced me to his parents.
"Mom, Dad, this is J.D. Knudson. He just moved here from Castle Rock, Colorado," Lincoln announced.
His mom, Lynn Sr., beamed with a warm smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, J.D. I'm Lynn Loud Sr., and this is my lovely wife, Rita."
I shook their hands, feeling a bit more at ease. "The pleasure is mine," I replied.
Rita's curiosity got the better of her. "So, what do you think of Royal Woods so far?"
I couldn't help but smile. "It's awesome, thanks!"
Lynn Sr. chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "Well, welcome to the neighborhood, then!"
I thanked him, and Lincoln jumped in, eager to show me around. "Hey, J.D., want to meet our pets?"
"Sounds cool," I replied, still chatting with his parents. "Nice to meet you both."
Lynn Sr. waved off my courtesy with a warm smile. "The pleasure is ours."
Lincoln introduced me to his pets, a lively bunch consisting of a dog, a cat, a canary, and a hamster.
"I'd like you to meet the gang," Lincoln said with a smile. "This is Charles the dog, Cliff the cat, Walt the canary, and Geo the hamster. We named them after our favorite cartoon characters."
I couldn't help but coo over the adorable pets. "They're absolutely adorable!"
Lincoln beamed with pride. "Want to see my room?"
I followed him upstairs, and he led me to a tiny room that was once a linen closet. "Welcome to my humble abode," Lincoln said, gesturing to the cozy space.
As we stepped inside, I couldn't help but notice the compact size. "It's a bit snug, isn't it?" I observed.
Lincoln chuckled. "Yeah, it's a converted linen closet, but I love it here."
I smiled, taking in the room. "Well, whatever works, right? You've got a great collection of stuff."
Lincoln beamed with pride. "Thanks! Oh, and by the way, I have 10 sisters."
My jaw dropped in surprise. "10 sisters? Holy guacamole!"
Lincoln laughed. "Want to meet them?"
I nodded eagerly, intrigued by the prospect. "Absolutely!"
Lincoln led me into another room, where I met the youngest sister, Lily, a cherubic 15-month-old.
"This is Lily," Lincoln said with a smile. "She's 15 months old."
I couldn't help but coo over her. "Aw, she's so cute!"
Just then, Lily's face began to scrunch up, signaling tears to come.
"I think I know what you need," I said, and handed her beloved Lavender Blankie.
Lincoln nodded in approval. "You're a natural with babies, J.D."
I chuckled, "I've had my fair share of experience." As I held Lily close, I started making silly faces, and her giggles filled the air. "Want to see some funny faces?" I asked, making her laugh with each new expression.
Lincoln was impressed. "Wow, you're fantastic with her!"
I gently placed Lily in her crib, and the second youngest sibling walked into the room.
Lisa approached Lincoln, greeting him with a smile. "Greetings, elder brother. Who is this fine gentleman accompanying you?"
"This is J.D. Knudson," Lincoln replied, making the introduction. "J.D., this is Lisa."
Lincoln made the introductions. "Lisa, this is my friend J.D. Knudson. J.D., this is Lisa."
I extended my hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lisa."
Lincoln beamed with pride. "Lisa's the genius in our family. At just 4 years old, she already has a PhD and a Junior Nobel Prize under her belt."
I was impressed. "Wow, that's amazing! I noticed all the advanced technology scattered around this room when we arrived. Lisa, are you working on a cure for every disease known to man and inventing new ways to benefit humanity?"
Lisa nodded." Yes, I am. In fact, I've recently developed a cure for Escherichia Coli, also known as E-coli."
I was impressed once agan. "That's incredible!"
Suddenly, a voice pierced the air.
"LAANAA! STOP IT!" Lola yelled.
Lana shot back, "Make me!"
Lincoln let out a sigh. "We've got another twin fight on our hands."
I looked on with interest. "Twin sisters, huh? That's really cool."
Lincoln led me into the twins' room, where a fierce battle was unfolding before our eyes.
Inside, the twins were wrestling in mid-air, surrounded by a swirl of chaos.
"Does this kind of thing happen often?" I asked, taken aback by the scene.
Lincoln just shrugged. "This is pretty much a daily occurrence."
Lincoln stepped in to break up the fight.
As the tension dissipated, Lincoln turned to them and said, "Guys, I'd like you to meet my friend J.D. He just moved here."
I extended a hand, offering a warm smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you both. Can you tell me a bit about yourselves?"
Lola, with a radiant grin, introduced herself. "I'm Lola Loud. I'm all about tea parties, the color pink, and photo shoots. And, I'm a beauty pageant competitor."
"I can see that," I said, noticing the array of pageant crowns and trophies on display. You have an impressive collection of pageant crowns and trophies. You're extremely talented."
Lola beamed with pride. "Thank you!"
"I'm Lana Loud," she says with a smile. "I love mud, animals, and I'm quite the handyman." She hands me a business card, which reads like a laundry list of her skills: "Toilets, sinks, showers, and automobiles - no problem!"
My jaw drops in surprise. "Wow!"
Just then, a tiny frog perches on her shoulder. "This is my friend Hops," Lana explains.
I reach out to greet the little guy. "Nice to meet you, Hops."
Hops responds by licking my hand with his sticky tongue. I chuckle at the unexpected high-five.
Lincoln pipes up, "You know, Lana and Lola are both six years old, but they're total opposites."
I shrug, unfazed. "Hey, that's perfectly fine with me."
The door swung open and the 4th youngest sibling walked in.
Laney approached Lincoln with a curious look on her face. "Lincoln, can I ask you something quick?"
Lincoln smiled. "Sure, Laney. But first, let me introduce you to someone. This is my friend J.D. Knudson. He just moved here from Colorado. J.D., this is Laney Loud, our talented 7-year-old artist."
Laney's face lit up. "Nice to meet you!"
The echo of "Likewise" came from J.D.
Lincoln chuckled, correcting himself, "Sorry, J.D., I miscounted. I have 11 sisters, actually."
J.D. laughed. "No worries, it happens to the best of us." He turned to Laney, intrigued. "So, what kind of art do you like to create?"
Laney showcased her stunning paintings, each one a testament to her remarkable talent.
"Your artwork is incredible," I said to Laney.
"Thanks," she replied with a smile.
Lincoln intervened, "So, what's on your mind? You wanted to ask me something?"
Laney's face fell, "Oh no, I'm so sorry... I forgot."
I reassured her, "Don't worry, it happens to the best of us – I hate when that happens too."
Out of the blue, the fifth youngest sibling suddenly appeared, sending chills down our spines, much like the eerie sound of a pipe organ filling the air.
"Hey Lincoln," Lucy greeted.
Lincoln turned to her. "Hey Lucy. This is my friend J.D."
I extended my hand, "A pleasure to meet you, Lucy. I'm guessing you're fascinated by vampires and the darker side of things?"
Lucy nodded in agreement, "That's right."
I said with enthusiasm, I'm a huge fan of the band Within Temptation - they're incredible!
Lucy replied, "I'm more into poetry, and I also run my own funeral service."
She handed me a business card, which read "Lucy's Lament". I joked, "I'll have to give you a call when someone in my family kicks the bucket."
Lucy asked me, "Do you know a word that rhymes with 'rain'?"
As we chatted, I admitted, "Poetry isn't really my thing, but I do know a few rhymes. How about Gain, Drain, Train, or Chain?"
Lucy thanked me before walking away. I thought, "Lucy's pretty cool."
Lincoln added, "Yeah, but she can be a bit spooky at times."
I just shrugged, thinking, "Oh, that's okay."
From offscreen, a voice yelled, "Heads up!" A football came flying in, and I caught it effortlessly.
Lincoln looked impressed. "Wow, you've got quick reflexes!"
I smiled, feeling proud. "Thanks!"
Just then, the 5th oldest sibling walked in.
"Hey, you caught my football?" Lynn Jr. asked, looking cool.
Lincoln made the introductions. "Lynn, this is my friend J.D. J.D., this is Lynn. She's 13 and a total sports enthusiast."
I extended my hand, and Lynn's firm grip surprised me. "Nice to meet you."
Lynn Jr. smiled back, her handshake solid. "Same here."
I was curious. "Wow, you've got a strong grip! What sports do you play?"
Lynn Jr. rattled off an impressive list: "Basketball, baseball, soccer, football, hockey... and more!"
I was blown away. "You must love sports! I'm more of a TV sports fan myself, watching football and baseball. But I'm also into crime documentaries."
Lynn Jr. just nodded, unfazed. "Cool."
Lincoln chimed in, "We've still got more sisters to meet."
As we stood outside Luna and Luan's room, Lincoln suddenly whipped out an umbrella, just in time to shield us from a deluge of water dumped from above. We managed to stay dry.
"Classic!" I chuckled. "The old water bucket over the door trick."
Luan giggled, "Come on, Lincoln. I thought we were Pails." (rimshot) She starts laughing.
I laughed, "Good one, Luan!"
Lincoln rolled his eyes, "J.D., this is Luan. She's 14 and a total jokester."
I smiled, shaking Luan's hand, "Nice to meet you, Luan. I can already tell you've got a great sense of humor."
Luan zapped me with a handshake, "Thanks! I've got a shocking personality!" (rimshot)
I burst out laughing, "You're hilarious, Luan!"
Luan revealed a Joy Buzzer, "I know what buzzes you!" (rimshot)
I laughed hysterically, "Lincoln, your sister is a comedic genius! Call a doctor, I think I'm going to die laughing!"
Lincoln introduced me to Luna, saying, "This is J.D., he just moved here from Colorado, Luan."
Luan's eyes widened in excitement. "Wow, I've heard Colorado's beautiful!"
After I composed myself from laughing, I said, "Sorry about that. Yes, Colorado is beautiful, especially the mountains."
Just then, electric guitar music filled the air as we noticed 15-year-old Luna, the third eldest, playing.
I cheered her on, "Rock on, Dudette!"
Luna smiled and replied, "Thanks, Dude!"
After she stopped playing, Lincoln made the introductions. "Luna, this is J.D. He just moved here from Colorado."
I shook her hand, saying, "Nice to meet you, Luna."
"Likewise, dude," she replied, cool and casual.
I asked, "So, you're the rockstar of the family?"
Luna beamed with pride. "Yep! My idol, Mick Swagger, inspires me. It's totally rockin'!" She strummed a power chord, shouting, "Yeah!"
I couldn't help but encourage her. "Rock on!"
We entered the last room, and out came the second eldest sibling.
Leni's eyes lit up as she greeted me. "Oh, hello there. Are you Elvis?"
I chuckled. "No, I'm not. Although, many people have told me I bear a striking resemblance to the legendary singer, reincarnated as someone else."
Lincoln chimed in, "Leni, this is J.D. He's new around here. J.D., this is Leni, she's 16."
I smiled, extending a hand. "A pleasure to meet you, Leni."
She reciprocated the smile. "Likewise."
I couldn't help but compliment her. "You're absolutely beautiful, Leni."
Leni blushed at the compliment. "Oh, thank you, J.D."
After saying our goodbyes, we headed out and encountered the eldest sister.
"Hey Lori," Lincoln said, breaking the ice.
Lori barely looked up from her phone, clearly distracted. "Whatever it is, I'm busy."
I introduced myself, hoping to spark a conversation. "You must be the eldest of the Loud sisters. I'm J.D. I just moved here from Colorado."
Lori finally put her phone away, a hint of politeness in her voice. "Oh, it's a pleasure. I'm Lori. I was texting Bobby."
I made an educated guess. "I take it he's your boyfriend?"
Lori confirmed, "Yes, he is."
Lincoln chimed in, "Lori is 17 years old, and she's the bossy one."
I smiled, getting a sense of the dynamics. "I see."
"So, how beautiful is Colorado?" Lori asked.
"My, the mountains are just gorgeous," I replied. "I've lived in Colorado my whole life, but I think I'll love Royal Woods even more. I've got to get home and finish moving into my massive new mansion, though."
As I spoke, everyone emerged from their rooms, their eyes wide with amazement, and began firing questions at me left and right.
"Whoa, whoa, easy does it, folks! One at a time, please," I said with a chuckle.
Lola was the first to get a question in. "So, how did you score a mansion?"
"Well, my family won the Colorado Lottery jackpot, and now we're basically millionaires," I explained.
Lori's eyes lit up. "Can we see it?"
"Absolutely," I said with a grin.
I led the Loud family to his family's multi-million dollar mansion, and their jaws dropped in unison.
"Welcome to my humble abode," I said with a smile.
Lori's eyes widened as she took in the place. "You live in the old Morbucks Estate?"
I nodded. "Yep. I take it they were the previous owners of this grand mansion?"
Lola's expression turned sour. ""Yeah,, Princess Morbucks was the most spoiled and snobbish kid in Michigan. She went to our school, Royal Woods Elementary, and after her string of crime sprees, she ended up homeless."
Lisa chimed in, "The authorities seized all their assets, and they were evicted, forced to live on the streets."
I shook my head in disgust. "I hate people like that. She got exactly what was coming to her."
As I gave the Louds a tour, their eyes grew wide with wonder, discovering the numerous rooms that filled the mansion.
After the Louds returned to their house, I finished unpacking and slipped into bed, feeling content.
"I'm gonna love it here in Michigan," I thought to myself, already feeling at home.
