Mamoru didn't comment about Saeko showing up with Yamato when he arrived to meet with him and Usagi to discuss a theory. He suspected that theory had to do with Itsuki and whatever new information had been collected.
He laughed when he realized that Usagi didn't feel the same way about Saeko showing up unexpectedly. A fact he became aware of when his beautiful Queen ran over and hugged Saeko tightly. "He brought you!" she exclaimed.
Saeko actually blushed over the reaction and said, "He tried to tell me it would be okay. If I need to leave, I can."
Usagi stepped back, grabbed Saeko's hands in hers, and looked into her eyes. "Yamato is like a father to Mamoru. Please realize that you're family, or this will make me sad."
Saeko looked back at her wide-eyed. "I'm a pretty shitty mother. I know that. What makes you think I'd make a better pseudo-mother-in-law?"
"Yamato loves you, and you're his other half. Mamoru doesn't need someone to tuck him in at night and kiss his boo-boos. He wants his father to be loved."
Saeko said, unable to help herself, "I think he has you for all of those things."
Usagi laughed and nodded. "True, but trust me, I'm not motherly with him at all."
Saeko's laughter faded, and she blushed. "Um. Ami did tell me about…. You all hearing us doing things. Sorry."
"I get why Ami was bothered, and being there with her at the time made it awkward. But I've been a vampire with heightened hearing for over four hundred years. I am over the embarrassment of hearing people have sex."
"But it was in your penthouse."
Usagi shook her head, "This is Yamato's place too. He's not a guest here."
Mamoru cleared his throat. "Let's talk about something less…" He paused and added, "I haven't lived as long as Usagi. My skin isn't as thick as hers, but don't get me wrong. I'm not upset, just…"
"Embarrassed," Usagi finished for him.
Feeling probably even more embarrassed than Mamoru, Yamato said, "Can we switch to a better topic —like murder?"
"You have a new theory," Usagi said, going along with his request.
Yamato said, "I still believe we were supposed to think the pharmaceuticals are involved, but they were a red herring. I am starting to suspect Itsuki. Mamoru was there and heard the odd conversation and noticed the inconsistencies in his story, too."
"Okay," Usagi said. "So, assuming you're right, how do you want to help him?"
"What!?" Yamato exclaimed while they all looked at her in surprise.
Puzzled, Usagi asked, "I don't understand. Isn't that what we're meeting about?"
"I think he murdered two people. Why would we help him?" Yamato said in explanation.
She knit her brow. "I thought Mamoru said you both believe his grandmother's death was suspicious and that she was really murdered by the cult."
"Yeah," Mamoru replied.
Usagi shook her head. "I'm so confused right now. What is it that you wanted?"
Saeko said, "Help to catch him and prove he's a murderer."
"No, I won't help," Usagi replied. "You'll have to prove to me that those two men weren't involved with her death. Otherwise, I'm on his side."
"How can you be?" Saeko asked, not mad, but confused.
"You forget that the laws that exist now are incredibly modern. I wasn't born into it, and I didn't live most of my life in the current justice system. If those men murdered his grandmother, in my eyes, him killing them would be justice. It's how it worked for centuries upon centuries before now." Usagi turned and looked at Mamoru, "You watched me kill Diamond after he blew up the police station."
"You killed Diamond!" Saeko exclaimed in shock.
Yamato found himself fidgeting a bit. "I forgot to tell you about that…."
Usagi deflated, "It appears I have a lot to tell you about myself. I'll start with how Yamato's morgue was being filled up with dead bodies ..."
Jadeite leaned back on the couch at the Shine and said, "We're looking for a place to move to. I agree with Rei that we don't want to live with the other guys."
Grandpa Hino frowned. "I thought you decided to live here."
"We had, but then you went and got a young, pretty girlfriend." She was ten years younger than him. Jadeite was impressed when he found that out. "Mars pointed out you might want to set up house here with her, and having your granddaughter here might get awkward. I know I don't need to find you both walking through the grounds late at night with her having sticks in her hair."
"That was Rie!" Grandpa objected.
Jadeite smirked, "It was. I was speaking in generalities. I don't know what kind of sex stuff you're into. And I'm not looking to be enlightened either."
"We haven't," Hino objected.
"And I believe you. Especially with how hard she was blushing after you kissed her Saturday. That doesn't mean you won't have her over for a game of hide the sausage at some point."
Grandpa Hino watched, amused, as Jadeite grew quiet and a sour look spread across his face. He asked, "You're regretting what you just said, aren't you?"
"One thousand percent. No offense, but gross!"
Reika found her heart fluttering as she walked into the arcade and up to the counter where Motoki stood. She loved that he could make her heart react. She used to think that she was too practical for butterflies and a racing heart, but she was glad she was wrong.
"Hey, beautiful," he said as she approached.
Making a fake gagging noise, she sat down on the chair by the counter. Once she was seated, she said, "Sorry, that was so saccharine."
Motoki shrugged, "You hate compliments. They embarrass you. I'm not fooled."
Not fighting him on that fact, she said, "So, boyfriend, the arcade is empty at this time of day. What did you want to talk about? I assume it's supernatural."
"Brilliant as ever," he replied and smiled, watching her make a sour face. She really did hate compliments, and he wanted to break her of that. "I want to become a Vampire sooner rather than later. And with that, I'm going to be honest. I want to transition first so I can learn what I'm doing and then be there to help you through your transition later. How alpha-male is that?"
"Why?" Reika asked, leaning forward and propping herself up on her elbows on the counter.
"You don't think it's condescending?"
"Not what I was asking, and no I don't. At least, I assume it's not, knowing you. Why do you want to go first?"
Motoki replied, "You were possessed by an evil spirit that wanted you to kill your family and destroy people. I saw you when you were still possessed." He wiped down the counter in front of him with the nearby towel. He was uncomfortable with the truth of what he was about to say. "Sometimes your eyes look haunted when you think no one is looking. I love you and don't want you to go through anything supernatural alone. I worry that if you feel out of control as a vampire, it might be triggering. I feel like I could better protect you if I'm not concentrating on my own transition."
Reika grabbed his hand and held on tightly. "I thought no one noticed."
"I notice everything about you."
She blushed and said, "Please transition first. I was worried about that, but I didn't want to say anything. I didn't want to sound weak."
Motoki scoffed, "You're not weak. You're human —for now," he teased with the last part.
"I love you," she whispered, choking up.
Motoki kissed her cheek and replied, "And I love you too."
Jiji lounged in his chair in his room on Beryl's yacht. A slow smile spread across his face. "Got you, Mamoru."
He had located a picture of Mamoru and his apartment address in the hacked data from Shizuho's computer. He didn't have a printer that he could print photos on, so he sent it digitally to the nearest convenience store kiosk.
Once that was done, he stood and stretched, and as he did, he couldn't help thinking about Shizuho. He turned off his computer and then texted her that he needed sex, and she quickly replied that she was going to fake an illness and get out of work early.
He grabbed his wallet and his keys and then left the yacht. He would pick up the photo to show Beryl after he had his fun with his new favorite sex toy.
