Marshall was able to push past the other pups, leaning down towards Everest with a small frown on his face. It took a couple of agonizing minutes for Marshall to do his work. It left Skye completely to her blubbering thoughts.

What if he can't help her? What if she's lame? What if I'm lame?! Skye pondered before taking deep breaths that didn't help her. She didn't want to loose control over her life. Everest was a dear friend to her. She shouldn't think such thoughts about Everest. It wasn't like she knew she had broken bones that would last her for a lifetime.

Marshall lifted his head with a strict expression on his face. "Yeah. She has a couple of broken bones. Her back leg is broken—it has been twisted beyond belief. It wasn't self infliction."

It wasn't self infliction. It was not self infliction.

What the hell could that mean? Skye tried to ponder it, feeling slight amounts of fear rumble within her soul. She didn't show it, but something was definitely up. She just didn't know what.

Did those...dogs attack her? But how? I thought we caught them. Did one...escape? Skye blinked, trying to figure out how they could escape a hole. There was a whole team of them, so it could be possible, but the fact that one would take on Everest was a hard pill to swallow. Did those strange villains really hate them that much? They didn't even know them well enough, so why attempt at drowning their snow rescue pup? Unless they have some sort of problem against Everest, but who would be so evil to hurt a girl like that?

Skye could hear Marshall muttering curse words as he worked about.

"Shit."

Most of the pups were emotional. Obviously. Rubble looked as if he could die and be relieved from the pain of losing his best friend, Chase had a sad expression on his face—he really cared about Everest, Tracker was horrified with wide eyes, Marshall was angry, Skye herself was sad and scared for her friend's safety, and both Zuma and Rocky didn't really appear all that moved or unchanged. Rocky, however, was thinking far more than Zuma. Or that's the impression Skye got anyways.

"Who would do such a thing to such a nice pup?" Rocky wondered as he gently hugged a breaking down Rubble. Rubble hugged him back and sobbed.

"I don't know, Rocky. It's strange. It can't be Humdinger. He's renounced his criminal ways. I doubt any of the current known villains we've faced would be this low either. Could it still be someone like Copycat?" Ryder wondered. He had his hand on his chin.

Skye stared blankly at the ground. Ryder was right. Could they be dealing with those new villains? Did they have more team members Skye didn't know about. That unsettled her greatly. Those pups were already pretty unsettling to begin with. They didn't like humans for whatever reason, and seem to not be highly intelligent. At least Hubcap and the Ruff Ruff pack were a little school smart. This whole situation has gotten me on edge. It's not like me at all.

"I don't know, Ryder. Does this honestly sound like anyone we've dealt with?" Rocky questioned with a paw to his face. He was intently thinking about the situation at hand. It had already gone too far. It was too coincidental that on the same day not only had they gotten a call about dogs that attacked, but one of their own members had been attacked by something.

It was odd.

Skye thought about it. There was the possibility. Ryder interrupted her deduction. "What are you suggesting, Rocky? Do you think you might have a clue about what's happening?" The adult asked his friend.

Rocky frowned. "Not exactly. I mean, I have a couple theories, but from what I can tell this isn't like any of the villains we've faced before like I said. It's suspicious. Do any of us have any enemies that aren't against the Paw Patrol as a whole?" Rocky asked.

Skye tried to think for a bit, but Chase moving next to Zuma distracted her. "Enemies? I don't recall any enemies who were mine alone. Except maybe Sweetie, but you said this was unlike any other villains we've faced beforehand." Chase barked with deep worry flashing on his face before he became serious again. He seemed embarrassed to be showing any emotions.

"I don't recall any of us individually having any enemies either, Ryder. Just the ones we've made during the Paw Patrol..." Zuma remarked, nudging Chase in an attempt to reassure him emotions were okay; Chase relaxed and smiled widely back at his brown friend.

Out of the corner of Skye's eye she could spy Marshall's attempt at dragging Everest gently onto a gurney. Skye almost facepawed at the stupidity. Of course! They should be bringing Everest out of this jungle. Who knows whether the creature or villain who hurt Everest is still around and willing to hurt them too. Not to mention those vicious pups are still around here too. Skye shivered. She never wanted to see those pups anywhere but behind bars ever again.

Skye pads over to Marshall. "Need some help?" She offers with a smile, hearing paw steps follow hers. She turned her head back to see Rocky. "I can help too, Marshall!" Rocky offers with a shy smile. He was avoiding their gazes as if embarrassed by something.

He did seem awfully close to Skye, but Skye figured that was because he was quick to offer help as well.

"Thanks guys! Okay, Rocky you and Skye can each grab one end. I'll help you find the way back to the Paw Patroller." Marshall instructed. Marshall then tapped Rocky's shoulder and pointed to the handle near Everest's lower back. "You can grab that one, and Skye can grab the one near her head." Skye and Rocky both nodded, giving each other friendly smiles.

Rubble's whimpering could still be heard as Rocky and Skye took their positions; Chase and Zuma were also discussing something while this happened. It seems as if Chase was unhappy with something and Zuma was comforting him about it. "Don't worry, dude! I'm sure you'll get your chance to express your true feelings."

Skye ignored them and padded over to one side of Everest. She could smell her friend's scent: the smell of earth and water. Skye opened her mouth and bent down, grasping the handle of the pup-sized gurney with her teeth. She made sure she had a strong enough grip, and pulled up. Skye felt Rocky pull up shortly after her, and the two began to slowly move their way towards the Paw Patroller.

To Skye it felt like hours, but it was probably only a few minutes. She kept glancing from the side ready for any attacker, though, none came.

She and Rocky, together, pulled Everest's unconscious body to the Paw Patroller and laid her down on the floor near the seats the pups sit in. Ryder comes in followed by the rest of the Paw Patrol. "Great job, you two! Can you please move her so no one steps on her? You can put her in the front if you can." Ryder instructed with a small frown.

Skye and Rocky both nodded, picking up the gurney, and headed for the front of the Patroller. The two simultaneously lowered their hurt comrade onto a seat next to Robodog who barked in alarm. They seemed to be shocked to see a valuable member so injured.

"Yeah Robodog, Everest was injured during this mission." Skye yipped as her voice cracked slightly. Robodog barked in confusion. "She wasn't on the mission, that's right, but she was found half-drowned in the swamp near the jungle." Skye confirmed.

She could kind of understand the robot, though the robot seemed emotionless when he barked. Other than that they seemed to be able to show their emotions for the most part. It wasn't really natural for a robot to feel emotions either.

Robodog barked in understand, watching the rest of the pups walk in with anticipation on their faces as they took a seat.

Ryder came into the front with Chase and Marshall. "Robodog, put your metal to the pedal." He ordered with tears in his eyes. Robodog didn't question his sad look knowing the circumstances, putting his metallic paw to the pedal down below and they were off.

Ryder closed the door, and secluded them off from the rest of the pups. "Alright, so while we're on the road back to Adventure Bay I want you four to stay up here with me." Ryder ordered.

Skye tipped her head. "Why, though, Ryder? Don't we usually hang in the back with the other pups?" It was odd of Ryder to ask her, Rocky, Marshall, and Chase to stay in the front with him.

Does he want to say something to us?

"That's true, Skye, but I want to talk about what happened with you guys. Regarding Everest and her injuries. I'm afraid that someone is after the Paw Patrol." Ryder remarked with a pained look in his eyes as if he couldn't imagine that someone could hate the Paw Patrol so much as to almost drown a member.

"You think someone is after the Paw Patrol because of one of us?" Rocky wonders.

"I don't think so, I know so. Also, I closed the door for something else. I think it's about time Chase and Skye...I think it's about time you've got the proper time to talk about your relationship. I know working with the Paw Patrol can be hard, but I can see you both need to talk about something." Ryder remarked.

What? He can tell we need to talk? Oh right! We haven't been able to discuss my deteriorating feelings. But is this discussion really a good thing in front of Marshall and Rocky? Rocky's fine, but I don't know how Marshall will react to it.

Skye stared at the ground. "I suppose, but...is right now really the best time to do so?"" She wondered. "It's better to get it out of the way now, Skye. Ryder and Marshall won't hate you for how you feel." Rocky assured her.

Okay. I'll tell them. She smiled nervously at Rocky who just lifted his paw in a sort of thumbs-up.
