Ambushed 1 & 2/2

(Abigail's POV)

*It's been a few days since we got the Chaos Emerald from Thunderbolt. Sonic stayed behind with Moss, Mighty, & Ray to work on his control over his Werehog form. Today, we were all in the briefing room of the Sky Patrol, ready to discuss a plan to get the next Chaos Emerald. The screen behind Sally showed how many Emeralds we had so far*

Sally: All right, team! We're making steady progress. We've got two Chaos Emeralds secured here, and the Chaotix tell me Knuckles and Julie-Su are holding a third for us. Thanks to Amy and her "Mystic Melody" technique, we'll be able to narrow our search for the Gaia Temples and other Emeralds. But we can't let the success get to our heads. We have to keep moving. To that end. Nicole?

*A map showing the Emerald's location appeared on the screen*

Nicole: I've mined our stolen Eggnet data for any Emerald findings by the Eggman Empire. The Blue Emerald was recently recovered by the Dark Egg Legion, and is being prepared for pick-up.

Antoine: Bon! And eet is so close to ze Dark Egg Legion base we raided.

Abigail: Maybe. But this seems almost too good to be true. We barley escaped Thunderbolt's trap the other day . . .

Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.

Rotor: And Eggman lost another of his precious E-100 robots in the process. At most, I'd expect a Super Badnick guarding the Emerald, and we can handle that.

Tails: Still . . . Shouldn't we wait for Sonic to get back first?

Lacey: I'm with Tails. We've all seen how strong those things are. Sonic is the only one who can handle one.

Amy: I want him back too, and soon. But he needs to . . . Get well first.

Tails: We're his friends. We can help him.

Bunnie: This could help him, too. If the Chaos Emeralds can fix the whole durn planet, sure to goodness they can fix whatever's ailin' Sonic.

Sally: Whether it's a trap or not, or just sloppiness on his part, we can't allow Eggman a chance to move the blue Chaos Emerald to a more secure location. This could be dangerous, so we'll put it to a vote. All in favor of going after the - *we all raised our hands, even Huck**laugh* Okay, then! Antoine, Bunnie, and Abby, you're with me on Team Freedom. We'll go in quiet, but be prepared for things to get heated. *she pointed to Lacey, Amy, Tails, & Rotor* You four are Team Fighters and our back-up. Nicole will keep an eye on the scanners.

Amy: Are you sure you want to go? The three of us got zapped pretty bad in that trap.

Sally: I'm sure.

Cream: What about Cheese and? And Mr. Big?

Sally: You three will stay up here where it's safe. You've come a long way, but you need more training before I let you do something this dangerous.

Abigail: Huck, you better stay here with them. This could get dangerous.

Huckleberry: Chao . . .

*He hugged me*

Abigail: Don't worry. I'll be okay.

*That night, we were all in a desert in Soumerca, in different hiding spots around where the Emerald was being held. We were all communicating through our wristwatches*

Antoine:*off-screen**whispering* I am in position and seeing ze Emerald as plain as ze daylight.

Bunnie:*off-screen**whispering* Ah'm in position, too. It don't look like there are any guards.

Sally:*off-screen**whispering* It looks like a blatant trap.

Antoine:*off-screen**whispering* Ze gateways . . . Alarms, maybe? Or ze fake - alarm decoys? Both?

Abigail:*whispering* It's Eggman. It could be anything.

Bunnie:*off-screen**whispering* It's your call, Sally. But we have no idea when we'll get another shot at this.

Sally:*off-screen**whispering* I know . . . Bunnie, fly to the top of that outcropping and cover us. Abby, Antoine, we're approaching with caution. Keep an eye on my back, and I'll watch yours.

Antoine:*off-screen**whispering* Oui, ma Princess.

Abigail:*whispering* You got it, Sally.

*We all got into position*

Sally:*off-screen**whispering* Bunnie . . . Anything?

Bunnie:*off-screen**whispering* Ah only see you three and lots o' sand. *suddenly, a gray flying E-100 bot hit her, knocking her off the outcropping**on-screen**out loud* Oh, mah stars!

Antoine: Bunnie!

*Suddenly, a green E-100 bot with drill hands attacked him*

Sally: It was another trap! And I led us straight into it! Fall back to the Sky Patrol! We can't -

*Suddenly, an E-100 bot threw a bomb at her*

Abigail: Sally!

*Before I could go help her an E-100 bot that looked like a female ninja (look up "E-91 Lady Ninja" on "Sonic News Network") attacked me. I ran from it as it threw shurikans at me, which I dodged. All four of us were running from a Super Badnick*

Sally: Antoine! Bunnie! Abby! I need support!

Abigail: Kinda busy here, Sally!

Antoine: With all ze respecting zat is due, we all need ze support!

Bunnie: If y'all can lure Eggman bots into range ah can try to blast em. But ah can't do a durn thing while that flyin' one has me pinned down!

Sally: I see it! You should be clear for thirty seconds! I'm seven o'clock-low from the position!

Bunnie: Rodger that, Sally-Girl! Ah'll blast that -

*Suddenly, Lambda started firing bombs at her*

Sally: No! Hang on! I'll -

*She was about to charge in with her Ring Blades, but Iota fired lasers, blocking her path. Luckily, Bunnie managed to block some of them with her force field*

(Third-Person POV)

*Meanwhile, on the Sky Patrol, Rotor saw what was going on the main screen*

Rotor: Cripes! They're getting hammered! Tails! Amy! Lacey! Meet me in the hanger! Team Freedom needs us on the ground! Nicole! I'm giving you command of the Sky Patrol! Warm up the guns and keep us steady!

Nicole: Aye-aye!

Rotor: We need to get there before Eggman sends any more surprises!

(Abigail's POV)

Sally: Bunnie! Are you - ?

Bunnie: Ah gotcha covered! You and Abby get the Emerald so we can get outta here!

*Sally & I ran towards the containment unit, but suddenly mechanical arms came out of it. Sally & I sliced them with our respective swords. Just then, Lacey, Amy, Tails, & Rotor came flying in on hoverboards*

Lacey: Sally! Abby! The calvary's here!

Abigail: Perfect timing!

*Rotor grabbed Sally & Lacey grabbed me*

Rotor: This mission's a bust. We need to -

Sally: Tactically retreat? Agreed. Everyone back to the Sky Patrol! We'll blast the E-100's from on high, then get - *suddenly, the containment unit took off like a rocket* The Emerald!?

*Just then, a red laser net blocked our path*

Rotor: No way two of us on a hoverboard can get through.

Sally: If one can, we'll lie on our stomachs! Bunnie! Tails! Take flight! Antoine! Lacey! Get the spare hoverboards!

Amy: We're two hoverboards short, and we're not leaving you or Abby behind!

Sally: Then Bunnie can carry both of us!

Bunnie: We won't make it past that flyin' bot!

Abigail: Guys! Incoming! Six o'clock!

*Suddenly, Lambda launched cannonballs at our hoverboards, knocking them, & us! to the ground. Soon, we were surrounded. Just then, a fishing hook landed on the ground in front of Sally. We looked up & saw Big, riding on a hoverbike & holding his fishing rod. Cream was on a hoverboard. Huck, Cheese, & T-Pup were flying around Iota*

Cream: Everyone! Hurry!

*Bunnie carried Sally, Rotor grabbed on to the fishing line, Tails carried Antoine, Cream carried Amy, Lacey & I rode on the hoverboard Cream came in on back to the Sky Patrol*

Sally: Nicole! We're all aboard! Get us out of here! *not needing to be told twice, Nicole flew the Sky Patrol away. Sally fell to her knees in tears* We lost the Emerald . . . If was another trap.

Amy: For now. But, hey, we'll track it down again, and -

Sally: A blatant trap. I nearly led us all to our deaths. Eggman knew Bunnie and I'd accessed his files. He played me like a complete chump. And you all nearly paid the price for my short sightedness.

*Lacey & I hugged her on both sides*

*Later, we were all in the sick bay. I was using my healing powers to heal everyone. Just then, Sonic came in with Tails*

Sonic: Sheesh . . . Tails said you guys were in tact, but how much glue did it take?

Bunnie: Yer sympathy is astoundin', Sugar-Hog.

Sonic: What happened?

Abigail: Eggman happened, that's what.

Sally: The Emerald was bait. Eggman ambushed us with four E-100 units.

Sonic: Four of them!? I should've been there.

Antoine: You are ill, mon ami. You needed help.

Sonic: No, Twan. I knew I was sick for a while. If I'd taken care of things earlier -

Sally: You'd have run the risk of dying, same as the rest of us. Our insight into Eggman's database is worthless now. We've lost our edge.

Sonic: Nooo. I'm your edge. And I'm back. Have we ever needed more than that in the past?

Sally: . . . No.

Sonic: Eggman got a win today. So now the score's, what? One to a hundred?

Sally: Heh . . . You've been keeping score?

Lacey: Probably since day one.

Sonic: We're a team. The best team on this whole jigsaw-puzzle planet! And together we'll make sure Eggman won't hold onto that Emerald for long!

Amy: So . . . Did you the help you needed?

Sonic: Oh, yeah! I'm still changing at night but I'm ready to jump back into the game. I won't leave you guys hangin' again! So let's get back to saving the wold! Nicole! You're brilliant and stuff. Any idea about another Chaos Emerald?

Nicole: Actually, I do have a lead on that.

*She brought up a holographic poster. Sonic & Sally's eyes went wide when they saw a familiar name*

Sonic: She has an Emerald!?

Sally: Oh, no . . .
