*I was still searching for the intruder, when I felt a presence behind me. I turned around & my eyes went wide when I saw someone I thought I'd never see again*
Phage: Hello, my dear Nicole. It's been a long time.
Nicole: Ph - Phage!? But how!? I - I deleted you!
Phage: Yes, you deleted my previous form, the one my original creator Snively made. But Dr. Eggman discovered the blueprints of my data in an old file in the EggNet and used to create me. Now I work for the Eggman Empire.
Nicole: What are you doing here!?
Phage: Learning. Growing. It's what I do.
Nicole: So . . . You are the one interfering with this system.
Phage: Yes.
Nicole: You attacked Dr. Ellidy in the Digital World?
Phage: Yes.
Nicole: And you used the Badnik at the lake to attack my friends?
Phage: Yes.
Nicole: That's all I needed to know! *she clapped her hands over her head, creating a box around Phage that said "Quarantine"* There, now - *suddenly, the box started to break* . . . What the . . .
*Suddenly, Phage broke out of the box*
Phage: Well, that was cute. Amusing. Mildly entertaining. I am much stronger than my pervious model, so anything you try against me will be useless. I'm here with certain objectives, Nicole. I infiltrated this system before you even knew it was happening. You can't stop me. And while I've always found you fascinating . . . Talk is slow.
*Nicole closed her eyes as Phage reached grabbed her*
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, in the real world, outside the house, Sally & Dr. Ellidy were standing in front of a shrine with a picture of a young female lynx wearing glasses in it*
Sally: Let me get this straight. Niki is your daughter. But Nicole is not Nikki.
Dr. Ellidy: I already told you, Niki's dead. She was . . . Wasting away. I'd hoped she could live on in some form via the digitizer . . . But . . .
Sally: The artificial intelligence program that was mapping her neural scans . . . That . . . Became Nicole? Look, imagine sorry for your loss, but it's not fair to blame Nicole for your daughter's death.
Dr. Ellidy: I DIDN'T! That's why I gave Nicole to you instead of just deleting it all! But now . . . Seeing her like this . . . Walking around while my poor Niki never got the chance to . . . To . . .
*Neither of them realized that they were being taken over by the Dark Gaia Energy*
Sally: Okay, you may have not meant for all this, but Nicole's here now! You must know that you're hurting her feelings by ignoring -
Dr. Ellidy: "Hurting" her? Does she actually know what "hurt" is? Do you!?
Sally: How dare you!? When I lost my family!?
Dr. Ellidy: YOU GOT YOUR FAMILY BACK!
*They glared at each other for a moment*
Sally: Who do you think you are? You . . . You can't . . . Why are we even . . . *then she realizedsomething* Oh no . . . *she grabbed Dr. Ellidy's arm* It's Dark Gaia! The stuff leaking from the planet's core is affecting our minds! Get back inside!
Dr. Ellidy: Wha . . .? Don't be ridiculous. My robots will protect . . .
*Suddenly, a Dark Gaia Monster jumped at them with two controlled Badniks behind them*
Sally: No, they won't! Run!
(Lacey's POV)
*Me, Tails, & Big were fast asleep on the couches in the living room when Sally & Dr. Ellidy suddenly burst in, Sally shouting*
Sally: Tails! Big! Lacey! Wake-up-wake-up-wake-up!
Lacey: Huh? Wha -
Dr. Ellidy: Get to the lab! We need to - *they ran towards the lab, but the door started to close. I quickly got up & ran after them* Hurry! The door!
*We made it inside just before the door closed*
Tails:*off-screen* What's happening!?
*Dr. Ellidy pressed a button, but the door wouldn't open*
Dr. Ellidy: The door's shut tight!
*Sally went to her handheld computer*
Sally: Nicole! We really need Ellidy's Badniks back only and on our side! The Dark Gaia Monsters -
*Just then, a very familiar face appeared on all the screens*
Phage: I'm sorry. Nicole is unavailable. I'm in control now.
*Sally & I gasped in horror*
Sally & Lacey: Phage!?
Dr. Ellidy: You know this . . . Thing?
Lacey: It's a vitus-like A.I. created by Dr. Eggman's nephew, Snively. But I thought he had been deleted.
Phage: Yes. My predecessor was, but now I am reborn and here to retrieve the Doctor's research, the Red Star Rings, and the Chaos Emerald on this island.
Dr. Ellidy: Chaos Emerald . . .?
Lacey: That probably explains the familiar readings we've been getting.
Sally: Yeah . . . *she turned back to the computer* If we give you the Red Star Ring, will you let Nicole go?
Dr. Ellidy:*whispering* Princess . . . Lacey . . . If we shut down the system entirely -
Sally: We'd be destroying Nicole along with Phage.
Dr. Ellidy: That thing now controls all my Badniks. It's only a matter of time -
Lacey: We are not giving in that easily, Doc.
*Just then, words appeared on one of the screens. "Save the planet, Sally." "Evading Phage." "Get Chaos Emerald from the lake."
Sally: Nicole . . .!
Tails:*off-screen* Sally! Lacey! The Badniks aren't doing anything to stop the Dark Gaia Monsters! They're all trying to bust in!
Sally: Listen! Phage is after a Chaos of near the Lake of Rings. Big knows the way. You have to get there first!
Tails:*off-screen* But . . .
Lacey: Big picture, Tails! You're the only ones who can do it!
Tails:*off-screen* All right, stay safe!
*I could hear him & Big running out of the house. Then I heard an engine running & the hovercar driving away*
Dr. Ellidy: You know what they say? Going out of the frying pan . . .?
Sally: I know. But as long as Phage is here, we're all in danger.
Lacey: But we have to do something. Nicole needs us.
Sally: And we will. I can't stand this! *she took off her vest & threw it over the security camera* What if Nicole can't stop Phage by herself? How can I be so useless!?
Dr. Ellidy: Even if we handed over the Red Star Rings, that won't save us, will it?
Sally: I need to do something. I need to . . . *she gave Dr. Ellidy one of her Ring Blades* Here. Take one of my blades. In case the Badniks break through.
Dr. Ellidy: What . . . What are you doing?
Sally: I'm using the Digitizer.
Dr. Ellidy: Absolutely not! You can't risk yourself like this! For crying out of, you're a Princess!
*Sally got angry*
Sally: You're right. I am a Princess. And as far as I'm concerned, my family exists to serve it's people. I get it. You did intend to create Nicole and maybe you don't like having her around. But don't you dare suggest to me that she isn't a person worth saving! *Dr. Ellidy looked away, ashamed* Now. Whether you help me or not, imagine going in.
Lacey: I just wish I could go with you, Sal. But I don't know how we're gonna be able to do that with one Digitizer.
Dr. Ellidy: Actually . . . *he opened a small panel in the floor & pressed a button. another Digitizer came out of the floor* I made a spare one in case this one broke. It runs on a power source seperate from the system.
Lacey: Either way. This totally works in our favor, Doc. *Sally & I jumped on to the Digitizers* Start em up!
*Sally & I closed our eyes & everything went black*
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, in the Digital World, Phage had Nicole cornered*
Phage: There's no need to fear, Nicole. Think of it as a transition to a greater whole. I promise it won't hurt.
*Just then, Phage got by a slice & a kick*
(Lacey's POV)
*Sally & I, with green crystals over our heads, arrived just in time to save Nicole*
Sally: Sorry. But we're still holding ourselves to that promise.
Lacey: If you want Nicole, you're gonna have to go through us!
Phage: Offer accepted.
