The Bridge, Resolute
They both approached the command center and saw General Skywalker. They both saluted and then went to parade rest. Anakin looked at them both with a fond smile "I hope you boys are ready to ship out. We just got word that the Separatists have launched an attack on Scipio and we have orders to go there at once." Rex was hesitant to leave his General before the battle but, he and Jesse needed to discuss this with the Jedi Council. They had a chance to save their Jedi leaders and this couldn't wait another moment. Rex looked at Anakin before asking hesitantly "General while the rest of the men are getting ready to ship out we need to talk to you. Can we go to your private quarters?" Anakin looked worried at the request but agreed nonetheless.
General Skywalker's Private Chambers, Resolute
After they stepped through the door and it shut Anakin looked at Rex and asked "What did you need to talk about Rex? Is everything alright?" Rex and Jesse both took out their inhibitor chips and showed them to their general. Anakin was surprised and asked, "Rex, Jesse, what are those?" Jesse looked at Rex and then back to Anakin "Sir these are our inhibitor chips." Anakin was shocked before he looked at Rex "What the hell are you doing Rex!? You heard what the Chancellor said. Tup killed General Tiplar when that Patasite got ahold of him and Fives snapped without his." Rex stood his ground "Is that really what you believe General? Half of the 501st were stationed on that planet and no one else tried to kill you. If there really was a Parasite how is it possible that it only infected Tup? Something is off here can't you feel it? This chip is at the center of it, so I decided to remove mine first. I removed mine and had Jesse watch over me like a hawk. For two weeks nothing happened. There is something strange going on behind the scenes and we are determined to get to the bottom of it. After mine was removed Jesse removed his and I watched over him, again nothing happened. I am telling you, sir, nothing happens to us without our chips. Fives only went mad supposedly when he was alone with the Chancellor. Then out of the blue, he attempts to kill him. That makes no sense. He claimed the Chancellor orchestrated much of this plot and I am inclined to believe him. Jesse and I need to understand what happened. We need to speak with the Jedi Council and get to the bottom of this. Fives didn't trust the Chancellor for a reason."
Anakin glared at one of his oldest friends for a few seconds before he sighed "Very well, it's your call. I grant you leave until we return from Scipio but I am telling you, you are wrong about the Chancellor. Until we return I am promoting Appo to commander." Anakin just shook his head in disappointment and left to return to the bridge. Jesse and Rex looked at one another before Jesse sighed "That could have gone better." Rex nodded his head "Yeah, but we have a duty to Fives, we have a duty to all our brothers to get to the bottom of this." With that last word they both put on their helmets and left the Resolute.
The Jedi Temple, Coruscant
Mace Windu was sitting in the council chambers with Plo-Koon and Yoda. They were discussing why Dooku would attack Scipio now. Suddenly they were interrupted by an incoming message. Mace Windu picked it up "Yes, what is it?" A Temple Guard replied "Sorry to bother you Master Windu but two clone troopers are here to see the council. They are insisting." Yoda looked up and said "Let them in, we should. Important information they might have." Plo-koon agreed so Mace Windu looked back at the Temple Guard and said "Send them in." The door opened, Rex and Jesse walked in before saluting. Mace Windu looked at them with a serious expression and said "At ease, now what have you come to talk about?" Rex and Jesse looked hesitant before they steeled their nerves. Rex looked at Windu and said "We have discovered a massive plot against the Jedi. Do you remember what happened to Clone Trooper Tup and Arc Trooper Fives?" After getting a nod of confirmation from the three Jedi Masters, Rex continued "Clone Trooper Jesse and I have removed our chips as well. I was observed for two weeks and there was no change in behavior. I don't believe the Chancellor's explanation of a parasite either. Half of the 501st were stationed on that planet but no one else got infected. That's not possible. After we removed our chips Jesse scanned his closer and there was a small mechanical chip embedded within. The information found on that chip proves that there is a conspiracy to exterminate the Jedi."
Plo-Koon stood up and said, "May we see one of these chips to prove the accuracy of your claims?" Both Rex and Jesse handed their chips over. Mace Windu called Jocasta Nu and had her come to the council chambers. After she arrived Mace looked at her and said "These two troopers have claimed that there is a conspiracy to kill the Jedi and the proof is on these chips. Please find out if their claims are true and if the chips have been altered in any way." Jocasta Nu bows and takes the chips to a nearby holo-terminal. Jocasta Nu is able to get around the Kaminoan encryption much faster than Jesse and pulls up the contingency order list. She scrolls down and just like Jesse, stops once she reaches Order 66. She reads through it and gasps. Mace Windu looks at Jocasta Nu in confusion and asks "What is it? What did you find?"
Jocasta Nu looks horrified and reads the screen "Order 66 states that In the event of The Jedi acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), The GAR will remove them by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established. I have looked at this data every way I know how and this has not been altered, this is genuine." Plo-Koon is shocked while Yoda just has a troubled look on his face. Mace turns toward the the chamber occupants and speaks in a careful voice "Whoever created this army is clearly a Sith and plans to wipe out the Jedi, it seems like the Chancellor is involved heavily in this plot against us. We need to tread very lightly and start removing these chips quietly from the GAR. If Palpatine issues that command all of the Jedi may fall."
He looks at Rex and Jesse and says "Thank you two for bringing this to our attention. You have done the republic a great service. I will have to ask that you keep the findings secret from General Skywalker, at least for now. He is too emotionally connected to the Chancellor to handle the information properly." Rex and Jesse don't like that order but they know the Jedi Master is right. Anakin had always been close to the Chancellor and it seems like he has gotten even closer to him lately. They salute the Jedi Masters and leave the room, they head back to their barracks to plan their next move.
