Disclaimer: I do not own Batman
Gotham Realty, the most successful real estate business in Gotham, the skyscraper that acted as the company headquarters stood proud in Northern Gotham. A shadowy figure climbed the side of the building, stopping at the window of Gotham Realty's boss, Freddy Forbes. A scratch on the window with special made gloves made a hole to allow the intruder to enter. The intruder reached into her jacket and pulled out a smoke pellet, dropping it onto the floor to cause the smoke to reveal the hidden lasers around the room, which she was able to avoid to reach the security panel, which she was able to use to deactivate the lasers. She activated her goggles and found a safe behind a painting. Using a special gadget, she unlocked the safe and opened it. There was money, gold bars and even precious gems, but the intruder only picked up an SD Card. She would have left if not for the gold tiger statue on Forbes' desk.
"Hello there, come to momma!"
The burglar grabbed the tiger and climbed back out of the hole in the window, taking a small device from her jacket resembling a cat's paw, she placed it against the outside wall of the building and used the device to go down.
She would have gotten away without a trace, if not for the hidden camera in a bust in the office.
The Next Day
Bruce Wayne sat at the table, enjoying his breakfast while watching the news.
"And in other news, the Gotham Realty building, run by respected businessman, Freddy Forbes, was broken into last night, the thief stole an unidentified item from Mr. Forbes' safe as well as a golden tiger statue from his desk, security footage revealed the thief to be none other than the mysterious Catwoman that has been robbing several businesses in the past month, joining me is Police Detective, Edward Nashton, Mr. Nashton, could there be some possible link between this Catwoman and Batman?" Asked Vicki Vale
"I will be honest, Victoria, the possibility of a link between Batman and Catwoman is quite the riddle, but currently the GCPD is ruling nothing out." Said Detective Nashton
Bruce could only scowl at the news report.
"Something tells me that this won't help improve things between Batman and the police." Said Alfred
Meanwhile
Freddy Forbes was in a limousine, being taken to an old friend. The limousine stopped outside a townhouse and a young man, skinny, combed black hair and glasses in an expensive suit walked up. He was working on a crossword, not even looking at Forbes.
"Father is waiting for you in his office." said the man
"Thank you Alberto."
Alberto led Forbes inside and joined him in the elevator. While the elevator took them to the top floor, Forbes looked towards Alberto's crossword.
"18 down is Angler."
Alberto looked towards Freddy, then back down at his crossword.
"Thanks."
The elevator stopped and the doors opened. Forbes was standing facing Falcone's secretary, a tall, thin woman, with short dark hair, brown eyes, tanned skin and red lips.
"Mr. Falcone is expecting you, Mr. Forbes."
"Thank you, Selina."
Forbes stepped out and was led to his friend's office by Selina. He was about to knock, when the door opened and Forbes stood face-to-face with a tall man, white hair and a scar over his face, dressed in an expensive white suit with expensive jewellery. Carmine Falcone, the most powerful crime lord in Gotham.
"I've been waiting for you, Forbes."
Carmine gestures for Freddy to step inside the office. Freddy stepped inside and took a seat. Falcone opened the globe next to his desk revealing his drinks selection. He poured a drink for himself and one for Forbes.
"In one month, 5 of my best business associates get robbed by this Cat girl, but what's worse is exactly what she takes…"
"The SD Cards?"
"Exactly, do you know what's on those cards?"
"Uh…"
"Information, those cards contain enough evidence to tear down everything I've worked to build. Businesses, restaurants, clubs, unions, politicians…everything I built from the bottom to become the man I am today, if that goodie commissioner Gordon got his hands on it, all my work will be for nothing, do you see how serious this is?"
"Of course I do, but what are we supposed to do? Whoever this Catwoman is, she knows how to cover her tracks."
"She'll slip up sooner or later, what concerns me right now is if she turns that information over to Commissioner Gordon." said Falcone
"I'm sure you can get Mayor Hill to deal with him."
"Trust me, I will."
Batcave
Bruce spent some time looking over a hologram of the city.
"Last time you spent so long in this cave, I found you working on that car."
"There's a link between Catwoman's targets, they're suspected to be linked to Carmine Falcone."
"Dear god, I still remember when you first tried to catch The Roman, after everything, he still got away with it all."
"Now, there's only one target left…Darwin Halliday, owner of the White Rose Casino."
"That's the answer of where, now for the question of when." said Alfred
Bruce typed away at the Batcomputer's keyboard, which cross referenced dates of the prior robberies.
"If she keeps it up, her next robbery will be tomorrow night."
The Next Night
Across the street from White Rose Casino, Batman stood on the rooftop, looking through his binoculars to check for any signs of Catwoman. His attention was grabbed by a figure running across the rooftops, wearing a black skin tight suit, leather jacket, red utility belt, a bag over their shoulder, cat eared cowl and red goggles.
"Right on time."
Batman took out his Batclaw as Catwoman reached the window outside Darwin Halliday's office. She used her claw gloves to cut a hole in the glass and climb in, using her goggles to find the safe.
Catwoman opened the safe and saw the SD Card. She reached for it when the lights turned on and she was surrounded by Falcone's men, all pointing guns at Catwoman
"Surprise, Catwoman." said Darwin Halliday, a skinny man in a black suit with long red hair.
Catwoman looked in shock, but smiled as she saw the shadowy figure outside the window.
"I was wondering when you would show up." Said Catwoman
"You were expecting us? Not a great look for a stealthy cat burglar." said Halliday
"I wasn't talking to you!"
Everyone turned around to see Batman smash through the window, before anyone could comprehend what was happening, Halliday and Falcone's men were on the floor, but Catwoman had vanished, she had escaped to the roof with the SD Card.
"Sometimes it's just too easy."
"People like you make it easy!"
Catwoman turned to see Batman facing her.
"Good looking AND good timing." said Catwoman
"Spare the flirting, why are you targeting Falcone's associates?"
"What does it matter? Falcone is the biggest crime lord in Gotham's history, and that's saying quite a lot, maybe I just want to take him down."
"If that was the case, you would have turned those SD Cards over to the police, you're after something else."
"Fine, you got me, but don't expect any answers right now, what I've got planned for Falcone is personal, and I don't need you getting involved, besides, have I really done anything wrong? Stealing from the mafia?"
"You still broke the law."
"The law? You honestly expect me to believe that's why you dress like that? Last person that did what you're doing ended up in Arkham."
"I do what's necessary, what no one else will do!"
"Sounds lonely. It's been nice meeting you, but I gotta run."
"We're not done here."
Catwoman smirked at Batman and lowered her goggles and extended her claws.
"Bring it!"
A fight started between the two, Catwoman blocked and dodged Batman's punches, Batman ducked and weaved to avoid Catwoman's scratches. After dodging Catwoman's kick, Batman kicked her back, only for her to smile and pull out a whip, which Batman was able to dodge, but Catwoman took Batman off his feet when her whip wrapped around his ankles and tripped him up, but he pulled out a batarang and cut the rope. The two returned to a close range fight, when Batman threw a punch that shattered a lens on Catwoman's goggles.
"Ugh, you're lucky I have spares."
A swipe from Catwoman scratched Batman's face, giving her the chance to run and jump off the building, Batman went to see where she went, but saw nothing, she got away.
Falcone Townhouse
Falcone downed a glass of whiskey, he had just received word that Catwoman had gotten her hands on the last of the SD Cards, if she went to the police, he'd be finished, everything he built over the years would be gone. His attention was caught by an email he received on his computer.
I've got something you want.
Bring $5 million to the roof.
Come alone or I will go to the police!
-CW
Falcone slammed the whiskey glass on his desk. No one told The Roman what to do!
The Roof
Catwoman stood, waiting for Falcone, she heard the door and looked to see the white suited mobster with a briefcase.
"You have what you promised?" asked Falcone
Catwoman smiled and took out the 6 SD Cards she had taken over the last month.
"So…how do you wanna do this?" asked Carmine
"Put the case down and take 5 steps back."
Falcone nodded and did as instructed. Catwoman walked forward and checked the briefcase, it was there, she closed the case and dropped the SD Cards.
"Pleasure doing business with you."
Catwoman walked away when Carmine smirked. He took out some sort of device and pressed a button, triggering the booby trapped briefcase handle to electrocute Catwoman, causing her to pass out. Falcone dragged her back to his office and tied her to a chair.
"Time to find out who's behind the mask."
Falcone pulled off Catwoman's goggles and her mask. He was shocked to see the face of his secretary.
"Selena?"
"Thought I would find her here."
Falcone didn't even bother to turn around, he knew exactly who was there.
"I was wondering when we'd meet, Batman, I just hoped you wouldn't be breathing. Doesn't matter, you've got nothing on me."
"No, but she does." said Batman
"Beat it, bat! This is personal!"
Falcone didn't have time to react as he was spun around and lifted by the shirt collar.
"I've been after you since my first year protecting Gotham, now I have the chance to put you away for good, I'm taking those SD Cards to the police, everything ends right here, right now!"
"You're right, it ends NOW!"
Falcone flicked his wrist and a small pistol sprung from his sleeve and into his hand, which he pointed to Batman's skull, only for Batman to react quickly and throw Falcone into the nearby fireplace, lighting Falcone's sleeve on fire, which he quickly tried to put out, Batman picked Falcone up again and threw him into the bookshelf, before a hard punch knocked him out. Batman turned to go to free Catwoman, but she was gone, she escaped again, thankfully, she left the SD Cards behind.
Batcave
Bruce gritted his teeth, the Batcomputer had revealed the SD Cards that Catwoman had left behind were fake, containing nothing but cat videos.
"Ah, you finally found what the internet was made for, Master Bruce!"
"Not funny, Alfred! The information on those SD Cards could have finally put an end to Falcone's entire operation."
"Well, clearly Falcone wouldn't be so concerned over cat videos on SD Cards, the real evidence must be there somewhere. Catwoman should have expected Falcone's betrayal, she needed some form of insurance policy that he wouldn't come after her, especially if he found out who she was…who was she, anyway?"
Bruce checked on the Batcomputer's database.
"Selina Kyle, she's Falcone's secretary, or if I had to bet my money, former secretary now, Her mother, Maria Kyle, died of suicide when Selina and her sister were young, stepfather is a man called Brian Biggling, who is currently locked in Blackgate. Selina's birth father isn't known."
"Hm…Maria Kyle? Something about her seems familiar."
"It's probably nothing Alfred."
Without another word, Bruce turned off the Batcomputer and left the Batcave to go to bed.
The Next Day, GCPD
Commissioner Gordon was not happy. He had received a call yesterday from Mayor Hill that a former detective for the GCPD would be coming out of retirement to work closely with Gordon to help catch Batman. Gordon didn't trust Hill as far as he could throw him, there was more to this, he just knew it. He heard his office door opening and saw the detective in question walk in, he was average height, quite chubby, wearing a trench coat and trilby hat.
"You must be Commissioner Gordon, nice to meet you…"
The detective held his hand out for Gordon to shake.
"...Name's Harvey Bullock."
