Civilian
Militia
Mark Krasinski loads out the equipment they've been storing for months to a semi truck with a clear dissatisfied face. He does not like where these weapons are being used. Why should they help foreign nations when the whole reason for their militia to be formed was to help America and its people, not Mexico. To put it quite frankly he would rather prefer to have more missions inside the U.S; there's loads of things they can do than to help Mexico with their drug problem like for example monitoring extremist groups on both sides of America's political spectrum.
He is worried about its development; both of them are preparing for all out conflict with each other. Antifa for the left and proud boys and other right wing Militia groups. They've stocked weapons on their own caches with both members having former military members that are actively teaching their other members of the group with said experience. Granted they don't have that many members of tier 1 special forces like Mark's group have, but the ones they do have even if it isn't the cream of the crop like theirs is not to be underestimated.
Mark's group is small but is the best of the best of the best. Former Delta, team 6's, and even members of the CIA ISA and direct action groups with rangers like Mark and other spec ops members to fill in the ranks. But the sheer number their potential enemies have and the training they've been getting that is almost equal to your average grunt is concerning to say the least.
Lieutenant Alejandro never told this directly but it's clear beside supporting and protecting Nathaniel (Not that he needed that much protection) was to safeguard American democracy from both extremist groups. Orders to tap in on their communications, which is surprisingly easy with most of them using discord; those fools, and inflintratjng the ranks of the more riskier Militia.
Now precious manpower that could be allocated to monitor these groups is now stationed near every known drug trafficking route. He could ignore ammo and guns being used even if it wastes weeks upon weeks of stockpile, he could always increase the logistics by finding more suppliers, but to send actual Militia members to deal with the cartel when they should help America first makes Mark dissatisfied.
"Is that the last of the crates they listed?" Jessica folded her arms while leaning at the side of the truck. Mark just grunted in response. "That's a lot of firepower for one mission, " she whistled.
"Enough for a whole company to fight for 1 month. Being used by a fireteam for themselves." He shuts the truck backdoor. "If you ask me this isn't one mission only. It's a continuous operation. *
Jessica rolled her eyes, "Civie talk please." She grumbled.
"It's more likely that we're opening a branch in Mexico." He said snappishly.
"Someone is grumpy with our dear Alejadro's decision. '' Jessica chuckled.
"You really think that the Lieutenant is calling the shots?" Mark inquired her, genuinely curious about her opinion as the backbone of the Militia's communication and intelligence; her opinion has weight.
"Was it that obvious?" she said with stoicism. Mark just looked at her incredulously that all she needed to do was sigh at him knowing/finding out the secret.
"I'm guessing that you also recently noticed this?" Mark clearly remembered that Jessica had doubts with the Militia funds when he first arrived, her knowing it was a surprise for him.
"I'm too important for me not to know, " was the only thing Mark needed to hear.
"Soo... " he cocked his head to the left looking at her, making her sigh again.
"No. I don't know who it is. Alejandro just told me we're working with someone on top of us, not the identity or name of the organization we are working with," she clicked her tongue. "On one hand I'm flattered they think I'm important enough to know this far, but their mistrust of me knowing their identity means just enough to not be outright abandoned by them when shit hits the fan. "
Mark raised his lips in an obvious gesture saying 'of course you are' there's not many patriotic hackers with talents in the country; the ones that employ them have a vested interest in her. Rangers, seals, Delta, even ISA's could be replaced in time, but people like her… She's a genuine human resource where it is worth it to be spied on by individual agents, not some internet algorithm.
"You're not going to be in trouble are you, by giving me this info?" I asked because of genuine concern.
She just waved it off and smiled, "nah it's fine. I think they know that you know, besides it's already a matter of time the LT told you, you're also important for this organization Mark. "
"Right, Alejandro as the group direct handler/warmaster, you as our chief of intelligence and I'm as support. The holy trinity of an efficient intelligence asset. Whoever he or she is, the guy is good at picking his people. " that left mark stopped to think for a second. "Too good in fact. Wait, are we working for the CIA?!"
"Nah, there's no way it's them; the CIA is a bunch of radical nationalist that is true, but they're not dumb enough to make a Militia with our skill inside the U. S; the possibility of us becoming rouge and zealots are too great, besides it would be a redundant move to arm another armed wing when they already have one inside the U.S," she explained. "I'm more suspicious of Nathaniel Russell. I like the guy, but I'm not going to disregard that he has the skills and the motivation to make the Militia, add that LT Alejandro is close with him, he's obviously cunning enough to do this. I mean look at what he did at the Dakotas, no way that wasn't calculated for him to rise. "
Mark chuckled, shaking his head hearing her explanation.
"What? Am I wrong?" she half glared at mark.
"Yes. Big time," he smirked. "He's a politician, all of his assets are being monitored by the public, and no despite the lingering conspiracy he can't shit gold like a lannister, he's a mary sue but not the magical type," he laughed at her, making Jessica face turned red in embarrassment forgetting that Nathaniel Russell is a public figure.
"You'll eat your word when he walks on water like Jesus or something," she joked. "I doubt a man like him wouldn't know an organization that is zealous and loyal to him forming under his name and if he isn't the one on top, let it happen in the first place. "
"If Nathaniel Russel could actually walk on water he should become emperor at that point. " He shook his head.
"Him becoming emperor that's a good sight, " Mark caught her fantasizing with a very worrying expression that made him laugh.
"Stop laughing at me, "she throws a piece of paper from her pocket at Mark, "… You…you… you incel!! "
"I'm the incel? For your information. I was married, unlike a certain woman whose day is wasted at a screen, who's the incel now, femcel."
Jessica, still red embarrassed, walks up to Mark and hits him in the shoulder multiple times which he ignores because of how weak it is. In fact he's laughing at the pathetic nature of the situation. Jessica for all her beauty and smarts, and what she calls her feminine guilles is quite pathetic as a person, a rotten personality that made her a girl failure.
"Mark! Jessica ! " Lieutenant Alejandro's voice boomed from the stead porch. Making the two of them stop and divert their attention to him. "We need to talk.*
The both of them stop their bickering and approach the grizzled veteran sporting a sidearm in his waist and tactical armor.
"You two will take the point with the mission. " No chit chat, nothing to soften the blow he just says it like it was a minor inconvenience for the both of them to take. Jessica raised her arm while Mark sighed knowing it was useless if he wanted to change the L.t mind. The old man was stubborn like that.
'Wait isn't he only like 28?'
"if I could ask sir. Why us? I understand that you would need men with organizational skill to partake in this mission. Why didn't you choose and ISA or Delta members missions like this are tailored made for them, " asked Jessica. Mark nodded agreeing with her. Mexico is known Playground for the ISA and Delta their knowledge of the area could only be beaten by the locals themselves add that both ex members would have the skill to set up an effective cell inside the country because their training includes the arming and training of potential allied forces and fighting a guerrilla war, hell the few green berets (Army SOF.) they would be better than him and Jessica; their job description perfectly encapsulates what the mission would be in Mexico.
"I've considered it, but I have my reasons for not to, " he revealed to them. "The ex ISA and Deltas are too valuable for missions like this. All of them are busy with their own problem keeping an eye on different armed groups in the country that are taxing work when everyone could organize and buy a gun."
"How about the ex green berets sir? Isn't this also their specialization, "Mark chimed in.
"That leads to my second reason. What would you think the Feds would think if a group of veterans trained in guerrilla warfare with the caliber of the ISA'S and Delta or even army SOF crossed the border to Mexico and stayed in a well known drug route?" The L.t waited for Mark's response.
"A lot of raised eyebrows sir, " Mark nodded, getting at what the L. T is getting at. Jessica cock her head to the side her civilian background making her not knowing the SOP for this kind of situation. So Mark explained to her, "Army and Feds tracked every specialized military member with special skill; they would know instantly and will grow suspicious that a bunch of elite military veteran cross the border: At best they would think that we want to be a vigilante, at worst they would think that our group want to take over the drug trade," Jessica grimace hearing my explanation.
"I'm guessing their response will not be gentle. "
The L. T snorted, hearing her response, "Expect to put on a terrorist list with the full might of the federal government to hunt you down, a terrorist could be taken down without diminishing national power, but an accused traitor knowing national secrets? We'll all be dead. That's why I pick the both of you; Mark you're a ranger but your skill is far beyond that, JSOC high command was already eyeing you to be a potential Delta. Jessica will handle the information and communication while you handle direct action and recruiting besides you two make a great cover story," he nodded approving his plan. That made Jessica gawked and Mark confused.
"Cover story? " Mark asked. For some reason Jessica's face was red like the ones her late wife once had. His eyes widened.
"No one would ask why a couple wanted to have holidays down there," the L. T smirked, knowing full well what he had done.
"OH HELL NO!!!" Make screamed. "I'm not going with this femce… "
……
"D… Dear Y-you forgot your bag," Jessica smiled wearily. Mark replied in kind by smiling back at her; that made her flush like a school maiden. Jessica is not experienced with this kind of interaction with men and it shows by the way she's acting.
"Thanks, hun." Mark took the bag from her and then came closer to whisper something to her. "Be more natural." Jessica only nodded diminutively. Holding her hand to look more like a proper couple. Both of them walk towards the immigration officer who is smiling at the both of them brightly while his coworker frowns with a soulless eye.
"New at the job?" Mark tried to strike a conversation with the young lad who smiled more brightly in response.
"Yes sir. Passport please, " the fresh meat asks and he gladly puts the passport down at the counter for the young TSA agents to take. He checked both of our papers glancing suspiciously at the both of us. Jessica was behind me pretending to set up the bag but in reality was hiding her face so nervousness didn't make them suspicious. The young man nodded and gave them their papers. "Have a pleasant trip sir. "
"Thanks," Mark nodded, then dragged Jessica's arms so they didn't miss their flight.
"Why do we go to Florida first?" she said annoyed. "The land border is better and cheaper." Mark glanced behind her and smiled seeing her pout. "I hate Florida," she whispered and Mark couldn't help but agree with her. Pulling her closer to him Mark wanted to make sure no one could hear them talk, you would be surprised at how sensitive the airport sound system is.
"Less suspicious, if we cross the land border immediately the feds will know we're not going to Mexico for holidays, " Mark doesn't want to disrespect Mexico but Northern Mexico is a shithole compared to the rest of the country where most gang violence occurred and the lack of tourist attraction there doesn't support their cover to take holidays in the country of their destination. "First we go to Mexico city, rent a car to go north, set up a base, then pick up our equipment drop-off in a storage unit. The rest of the team will arrive the same trickling down," can't have all of them go at the same time , that'll be too suspicious, "Then we recruit from the local populace. "
"Fine, "she grumbled. "Still hate Florida though. "
"That we can agree on."
Aaron Omar
When your best friend since childhood requests you to go on a road trip to Mexico to kill some cartel members do you A. Refuse it. B. Tell her wife about her husband idiotic plan. Or C. Ride and die!! For years Aaron always thought that he was the sane one in their little friend group (well relatively sane.) The most normal one of the bunch, he isn't some magical ninja that was transported here to save America to greater glory or even a member of an influential family with wealth that has been hidden by the public.
He's just a man, a normal Muslim man who is loyal to his friend and country even if the latter tends to hate him.
So then why in God's green earth does his friend think that it's smart to have him follow him in his quest for political relevance. At least it wasn't a gun-who mission like he predicted but more of an official meeting with Mexican bureaucrats that Naruto has somehow identified as not morally corrupt. He could appreciate that Naruto didn't give him a gun and take him on a merry way to the middle of some Mexican ghetto to kill some sap that sells drugs.
Naru made it quite clear to him, the mission was for the two of them to make enough progress in Mexico so those cartels (Which one? doesn't matter) would be annoyed enough to want to kill him. This was all just in an effort to bolster his image at home.
His friend is nuts.
Aaron understands the idea but couldn't help but think that it is stupid.
So with Naru protection and guise for the whole ordeal as a diplomatic mission between a Senator representing his state to Mexico and Aaron as a "guide" for him to navigate interstate politics. It isn't even a lie, the visit truly is an effort on Naru's part to make Mexico to trade more with America and furthering relationships between Naru's constituent state and Mexico.
So while Naru is talking to elected high ranking public figure in Mexico's government, Aaron job is to focus on the bureaucrats, making them more connected with each other, giving them funding to fight the cartel, and Intel that Naru procured from his secret sources so that they can have political ammo to fight with. All in all the past few weeks have been productive even if the work the both of them done will not immediately stop Mexico gang problems it will hurt them badly.
Aaron does not expect that this change would be permanent; the moment the both of them go back to the states many factions would want to reverse it, and all their work here would be destroyed. He doesn't mind it, their goal isn't to prop up Mexico fully but to secure political gains for Naru to survive the windfall when he announced that he will not support Trump or even the Democrats in the impeachment hearing.
Besides a prosperous Mexico is a prosperous U.S, but a strong and free of corruption Mexico is a threat. And he and Naru will never have Mexico strong enough to challenge U.S hegemony over Northern America. Never!
Mexico has its parts as America's future cheap Human resources, Naru may try to use softer words by saying relocating industries and the like while refusing to confront the truth that their plan is to make Mexico reliant to the U.S and make the already protectorate into a dominion in all but name. Aaron doesn't have Naru niceties, he is blunt and will say thing how it is, and if a horrible option would save his family and nation, he would take it, though not to the extreme level of Henry kissinger, he learnt from learning the man records that compassion and irrationality is sometimes needed in his field of work.
Unlike Kissinger where his cold-calculating-realist view of international relations has done America more harm than good, he will be better than him. A man who could hate his own people and religion kissinger maybe. But Aaron is not; he could see why Naru wants him to be secretary of state; his religion as a Muslim will be a great shield for him to amend relations with every Muslim state that they've insulted. America needs to get out of the middle east without making new enemies to focus on China and the indo-pacific region as a whole, any dalliance at the middle east and regrettably Europe also will be not strategically sound. And even if America itself will not be reliant on Middle East oil the rest of their allies will not, so even if they want to retreat fully they need a foothold and Israel is that foothold.
Israel, Palestine even thinking about it made his mind heavy; the question of Israel and Palestine will have to be their next mission the moment Naru takes power as it is the first step for their plan. Personally for Aaron he hates both Hamas, the west bank authority and the Israeli government, those three players are more of a burden for American influence in the region than to bolster it; they need to have a strong puppet government in the middle east even if they want to be out, and the current Israeli government is not it; nor any Arab replacement. Maybe they could invade Israel then make it the 51st US state that would be fun; he joked to himself. It certainly would make the conflict more intriguing.
( international relations/law students trying not to justify the most F-up crimes against humanity so their nation can have more influence on trade: impossible.
Speaking from experience: what is it with international law/relations students being psychopaths!!! Like seriously, diplomats are the most underrated positions in government. You could lie to your government to make your country do an intervention to Burkina Faso if you have some pull.
They are somehow the most and least nationalist people you'll meet.
OK I'm done ranting)
But for now they will focus on Mexico; their bag of cheap labor to exploit.
"You should be careful Mr. Aaron; the cartel is taking notice of your activity with your senator friend," one of the bureaucrats we recruited advised him. "Why would your state offer to invest in Northern Mexico anyway? I know that that place is close to the U.S border so transportation time and its cost will not be too great, but I don't think sinking your state's major company in the area is wise."
The man raised a valid concern; the southern side of the U.S especially between Texas and Mexico will probably get an economic boom in the area, but all that economic boom maybe could only be capitalized by Texas (and by extension America) and of course corrupt figures down here. Increasing trade volume so close to the border means that smuggling drugs would be easier, and anger the cartel.
"They don't like it when a new, more powerful and connected person comes to their territory and does not get rent money for "Protection" are they?" and getting crews to join their suicidal charge to the core of America to sack its interior is getting harder with more legal jobs as an alternative. "Aaron said matter of factly. Which disturbed the bureaucrat when he used the word sack.
"Y-yes. The cartel always has more people to join them because of the economic woes of the north; they can handle violence but if the source of their manpower is choked, they will retaliate. It's the first time for them to be confronted with an effort to destroy them not via violence or prison but economically offering alternatives to the people and because they don't know how to respond they will choose the method they know how to. "
"You don't need to worry, we can handle it," Aaron said with a smirk.
"Sir, I know that Nathaniel Russell is America's greatest soldier but I doubt he could take down an entire gang by himself," the man shakes his head. "Many great men tried to fight the cartel, some of them I know personally and with the increase of their confrontation it's not just their target that will die but also civilians; it's the cartel's most classic trick in the book. Your leader being captured threatens to kill civilians, a bill being passed to diminish your power? Threaten civilians. I just hope that whatever you and Mr. Nathaniel is planning it wouldn't at the expense of the Mexican people. "
Aaron smiled at him, than grasp his shoulder in a friendly manner, "Don't worry my friend, " he grinned, "We have your country best interest in mind."
Yes trust him. Just trust him!
Man this story is becoming dark
