Chapter 14: Revealing secrets
Molly was in the attic, trying to figure out a plan of how to save Libby's bookshop. What could she possibly do? There are many ways to get enough money, but she wanted to do it in more creative way.
What was Molly good at? Crafting, making people happy... Singing. Singing actually feels like great idea. Maybe she can do a whole concert where all of people's money will be given to Leah for the bookshop.
While she was thinking about this idea, Scratch came in the attic, looking awful. He looked like someone beated him up... Even thought he literally slept the whole afternoon.
''Uhhhh... Is everything alright, buddy?'' Molly asked, worried.
''No... Tomorrow I'll have to start early because of being late today... Even though he kept me for 1 more hour'' Scratch said, as he was on the verge to fall asleep again.
''Ohhhh, I told you... You didn't have to make me breakfast, I knew you would get in trouble''
''And to leave you hungry? No worries, I'll survive... Somehow...'' Scratch said, as he flew in his dollhouse.
''Wait! The goodnight hug? I couldn't give you one yesterday, but-
''Moll... Please... I just want to go to sleep...''
Molly was feeling bad for her best friend. That job really was making him feel miserable. The worst part was they haven't even hugged each other in two days. Probably the longest period of their friendship without hugs.
''Come on, Scratch! Just one hug and I'll leave you alone! Please...''
''UGHHHH... Fine!'' Scratch said, as he flied from his dollhouse and embraced Molly in BIG hug.
She couldn't even hug him back, he wrapped his arms around her, as she couldn't even move. It still felt nice... And then a flashlight appeared on the window.
''Huh?''
Scratch let Molly go and she looked outside, confused. No one was there. They didn't think much of it and Scratch finally went to his dollhouse and went to bed. Molly was still planning on how to save the bookshop, but she needed some sleep too... And also had little hope that maybe there won't be any nightmares.
...
''Leah... What you did is literally illegal...''
Leah finally decided to use that camera. She went to the McGees house and when she saw how Molly is talking to herself in her room alone... She decided to take a picture.
''I know, it looks insane... But you gotta believe me, the McGees are hiding something!'' Leah said, as she was watching on the computer the photos she took.
''That's... Still not an explanation for taking pictures of a girl inside her home...'' John said.
At the pictures, it looked like Molly was alone in her room, but Leah knew she wasn't. She used every single filter, just to see if there is something hidden... Something secret the camera may have captured.
''I promise, if I can't find anything, I'll delete them'' Leah said, not taking her eyes from the monitors.
''Well... Fine... But you also need some sleep, you'll have to get early for work''
''Ugh, I hate this place. Seriously, something ain't right with this woman!''
''I know... Everyone is weired out by her. Anyways, I'll go to sleep, goodnight'' John said, as he walked away.
Leah was on the verge to give up... When she actually decided to try something. She decided to make few experiments with her photos... Lowering the brightness, setting the image in diffirent kinds of light... And after 30 minutes of editing, she finally started to see something.
After another 30 minutes of editing and increasing the infraded light... She finally saw what she was looking for... There was a ghost. She was right... Molly really was talking to ghosts...
''WHAT THE F-
Out of shock, Leah fall of the chair. She couldn't actually believe it... Ghosts are real.
''J-John... JOOOOOHN!''
John immediately came in the room, confused. Leah pointed to what she discovered and he was also shocked. They both had no idea how to even react to this. There were now other questions... Was what happened in Leah's nightmare... Actually a nightmare?
...
It was now 12:30 AM. Molly was waiting for Libby in Sam's diner. Thank God, Molly didn't have any nightmares... Strange how they stopped every time when she cuddled or kissed Libby. They were gonna get something for eating, then... Go somewhere private for their ''playing''. While she was waiting, Libby finally came with the most scared and worried look ever.
''Hey, Libby! Over here!'' Molly said.
Libby went to the table and Molly noticed how scared she looked... Even more scared when Molly had nightmares.
''Uhhhh, Libby? Is everything-
''SHE KNOWS! MY MOM KNOWS ABOUT SCRATCH!''
All the people in the eatery gave Molly and Libby confused and weird look, as they both blushed from emabarrassment.
''Wh-What? You... You're joking, right?'' Molly asked, terrified.
''No! She found out! She was secretly taking pictures of you and Scratch!''
''SHE DID WHAT?''
''You heared me! She wants to meet him or even CATCH HIM!'' Libby explained.
''Girls! If you don't keep it quiet, I'll have to kick you out!'' The waitress said.
The two girls blushed again and this time they started to speak alot more quietly.
''We can't let her hurt him! Please... Try to talk with her'' Molly said.
''I don't think she wants to hurt him, but she is ready to do anything just to catch him. I... I'll talk with her, I promise''
''Thanks. So... Ready for our ''game''?'' Molly asked with a grim smile.
''Definitely. But where exatcly in the park?''
''Oh, there is a little abandoned tree house in the very end of it. No one even goes there, only I and Scratch know about it'' Molly explained.
''Oh, that one? Scratch has showed it to me too, it is nice, but... There?'' Libby said with a confused look.
''Yes! No one will see us, I promise! Come ooooon... My appetite is increasing just by looking at you!'' Molly jokingly said, as she placed her hand on Libby's hand at the table.
''Haha. Alright... How is Scratch by the way, I haven't seen him those days''
''Oh, he is... Tired. This Lecter guy is not leaving him alone! I swear, if I could become a ghost, I would punch this guy in the nose!''
Only if she could... But she can't. She was still mad at herself for ruining the ritual... It was her only chance to become a ghost and she wasted it. This thought made Molly little angry and sad.
''What the hell?!''
Some random guy's phone just exploded in his hand. Everyone around him jumped from shock and surprise. There wasn't explanation how it just exploded...
...
''Please, Clara... I'm desperate!''
Scratch was in his lunch break. He went to ask the council if they knew anything about skinwalker curses... Absolutely nothing. Clara knew some things about them, so she was Scratch's only hope.
''Okay, okay, all you need to do is to remind her who she really is! I don't know exatcly how the whole process works, but remembering is the key! She needs to remember her human life!'' Clara explained.
''How? We barely know anything about her... All we know is that her name is ''Samantha'', nothing more''
''That's a beginning! Just reminding her name may start to slowly unlock some forgotten memories'' Clara said.
''Well, we can try. All I have is one more day, until Ruben actually kills her'' Scratch said, worried.
Normally, Scratch also wouldn't care if she dies or not, but he himself was turned into a monster and almost killed Molly... He couldn't see another soul to suffer like that. While they were sitting, the phone appeared right next to Scratch.
''SCRAAAAATCH! THE BREAK IS OVER, COME TO WORK, NOW!''
''Ugh, I'll have to go... See you later?''
''Of course, you know I would love to spend more time with you. Bye, buddy!'' Clara said... As she gave him a quick hug and flied away.
Scratch's ectoplasm turned red again. He enjoyed every sinlge hug clara gave him. While he was in this short paradise, the phone appeared again.
''COME ON, WHERE ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE-
''UGH, I'M COMING! Sheeesh, a person can't be late even for few seconds!''
...
All the employees in ''Joy-Healers'' were called in a small dark room. Leah was also there and like everyone else, she was confused. While waiting, Jessica appeared.
''Boss... Why are we here?''
''Ha... Hahaha... HAHAHAHAHA... To sacrifise someone for the Lord in Black!'' Jessica said... With the biggest grim smile ever.
All the people there froze in horror... All of them.
''Ha, just kidding! Alright, here is why I called all of you: as you know, very soon the mayor will organize a festival for all the Brightonians here! Aaaaand... Guess which eatery will deliver all the needed food...''
The mayor was planning to organize a big summer festival for all the citizens and to attract tourists in Brighton.
''Wait... Us?''
''THAT'S RIGHT! ''Joy-Healers'' was chosed as the eatery to make sure there is enough food at the place!'' Jessica said with a joyful smile.
''That's... Impressive... I guess'' Leah said, confused.
It was really strange how exactly they were chosen... After all, this place was open from two weeks, how the hell were they given such an important task after being just two weeks in this business?
''It is impressive! So, here is what I want! The mayor wants at least 10 HUGE boxes of fries. After all, they are our special dish here. Few desserts like cupcakes are also needed. AAAAAND MOST IMPORTANTLY... I want all of you to smile! We don't want to look like some grumpy and miserable people, so all of you will smile! Understand?'' Jessica asked.
''Boss... Please, this is getting tiring... We smile every single day, AWAYS... My cheeks start to hurt'' One of the employees complained.
''HEY! As I said, WE DON'T WANNA LOOK LIKE SOME GRUMPY AND MISERABLE PEOPLE! If you can't smile... I can easly cut one on your face...'' Jessica said... With evil look in her eyes.
She payed and treated her employees well, but she really was creeping them out. Leah had no idea why she wanted all of them to smile so much. Jessica was somehow capable of keeping a smile for the whole day (which was also very creepy), but they just couldn't... Leah herself is a person who doesn't enjoy smiling so much...
...
Molly and Libby found the tree house they were looking for. They climbed there and... It was so peaceful.
''So... Should I start, or this time you'll want to start?'' Molly asked.
''Mhmmmm... Do your magic!'' Libby said, as she sat on a old chair that was in the corner of the room.
''Ohhh... I sure will...''
Molly went to Libby, sat on her lap and started to slowly kiss her. The windows of the tree house were closed, so no one could see them. They were just gonna kiss for half an hour and leave, because they were still little paranoid if someone actually decides to come.
15 minutes have passed and from slowly, they were kissing and hugging way harder and passionate. At this point, this was getting addicting... Dangerously addicting for both of them. Libby herself knew how wrong this is, but it was just feeling too good to stop. Like an actual drug, they were too addicted to stop or take a break.
This time however... Something diffirent happened. While kissing, Molly started to see something. With closed eyes... She was having a vision, while she was also making out with Libby.
It was more like a memory... Painful memory. She couldn't remember what exactly that memory was, but she started to recnognize it... It was the memory when Jinx trapped her in the cage.
Libby didn't even noticed how scared Molly looked and just continued to kiss her. Molly also continued, but she was having a complete panic attack in her head while this memory just appeared.
''We are not leaving this table, UNTIL YOU DON'T DEVOURE IT ALL!''
''NO!''
Molly screamed in horror and stood up...
''Molly? Is everything okay?'' Libby asked and stood up, worried.
This... Didn't make any sence. When Molly was kissing and hugging Libby, the bad memories and nightmares were aways going away... Why it didn't work this time?
''I... I... I'm fine...'' Molly said, as she was shaking from fear.
''D-Did I do something wrong?''
''NO! No... I just... Maybe that was enough...''
Libby had no idea what was happening. She wanted to hug her, but she was scared if she somehow made her feel uncomfortable, so she just placed her hand on Molly's shoulder.
''We can go home if you want to'' Libby said.
Molly was scared... Sad... And angry. This memory was torturing her EVERYWHERE! She couldn't even enjoy her private time with Libby because of it. Out of saddness, Molly couldn't held her tears anymore and had complete breakdown in front of Libby.
''I... I don't know what's wrong with me'' Molly cried.
Libby didn't know how to react, so she finally hugged her. No more ''playing'', just a hug to comfort her best friend.
''Molly... It's okay, calm down... I'm here!''
Molly was so broken... This was a disaster. The worst day of her life, the worst moment of her life, she just wanted to die. Libby was hugging her... While she was just crying, realizing no matter what, Jinx will aways haunt her...
