The following days were a whirlwind of joy. Owen was mine now, and I was his. With Thomas gone, there was no one to keep us apart. We met every day, talking, playing, and simply reveling in each other's company. I cherished every moment, but it was odd, feeling this happy. A vampire falling in love—how ridiculous. Yet, with Owen, it felt so right, so different.

One evening, Owen knocked on the wall, asking if I could come outside. I was about to say yes when the door buzzer startled me. Someone was here. I crept to the door as the knocking grew more insistent. Peering through the door glass, I saw a man—a detective, I guessed. I stayed silent, watching as he eventually walked away. I decided not to risk leaving that night. I tapped back to Owen, "N-O-N-O-T-T-O-N-I-G-H-T."

The next night, we met outside. I was already waiting when Owen arrived, looking more excited than ever. His excitement was contagious, almost…

"Abby, I did it!" he exclaimed. I tilted my head, curious. "Did what?" "They were gonna push me into the hole in the ice, so I grabbed a big stick and hit Kenny on the head. He had to go to the hospital, and I almost got suspended, but I didn't." I smiled, proud of him. He stood up for himself, just like I hoped. I'm so proud of him. Good boy.. "What you said- I stood up to them." I had to do something. I was just… too filled with happiness. "Owen.." I told him.. "Yes..?"

He didn't know what was about to happen next. I kneeled and… kissed him on the cheek. It was something I wanted to do for a while, I guess I was just waiting for the right time. His face was priceless. Adorable, yet priceless.. I could see him blushing. Now that I look at his eyes, they don't look so dull anymore. "Hey… you want to go somewhere?" he asked me I nodded. "Where?" I asked him.

He took me to this hidden place in the apartment complex. I think it was a basement. It was dark, but I could see completely fine. Owen turned the light on. There was a couch, a workout bench, and a ping-pong table.. I guess it was what was called a "Man Cave". "Pretty cool, huh?" he asked. I had to admit, it was pretty cool. "Yeah.." I replied. "This kid that used to live in the building, Tommy, he would come down here, and drink and smoke with his high school friends. He'd play Ping Pong with me, he was really cool. Shame he had to move," Owen told me. I looked around as I heard Owen take his Jacket off. "I kind of like it here." He told me. I looked over at him. "It's cool.." I told him. I really did. But I still didn't understand why he wanted to bring me down here. "I don't think any of the adults know about it, its just us." He told me. I found a tape player and began to mess with it, turning the music on. It sounded nice. I turned to look at him, he was looking at me with a sheepish look on his face.

"So, what did you want to do down here?" I asked. He seemed hesitant. "Uh…" Go ahead, spit it out, my love. "I think I have an idea. Close your eyes," he instructed. I complied, hearing him rustling around. Then, "Let's make a pact." I opened my eyes to see him holding a knife, his thumb bleeding. "It would only hurt for a second," he said, offering the knife to me. My heart sank. I hadn't fed in days, too absorbed in being with him. The sight of his blood was unbearable. "Here." He still tried to give me the knife. I struggled to control myself, but the hunger was too strong. I dropped to the floor, licking the blood like an animal. "Abby…?" he called, concern in his voice.

I looked up at him, growling. He looked horrified. My god, he looked so scared... But…even with my transformation, he still stood there. Why doesn't he run? "Go Away," I snarled. Yet he still stood there. I had to leave. If I stayed, god I think I would have killed him. I ran, pushing him out of the way and climbed up the nearest tree. Someone came walking their dog. I didn't care who it was, or how many people were around. I tackled her and began to feed on her. But there was someone else there. A man. He kicked me off and I ran off, leaping over the fence. I could hear him screaming, begging someone to call for help.

What have I done? What have I done.. WHAT HAVE I DONE?! I got back to my apartment and began sobbing. God what have I done..? Owen saw me. He knows what I am. This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't supposed to happen. I was gonna tell him eventually but not now! Oh god, what does he think of me now?! Does he even want to see me again? What am I even going to tell him? It's been a few hours now..

I'm so sorry, Owen.
