AN: This will mostly be done from Leah's point of view. I will deviate from the book's storyline.

(Leah - POV)

I watched from a distance as the pack seemed to be closing ranks around Bella Swan. She was more accepted into the pack than I was, I was a bit bitter about it. I can say though I wish I had been present to see her punch Paul in the face. Damn dick probably deserved it. He was such an ass. It was almost like she could hear me thinking about her since she looked at me. I looked at her and then turned and shifted gracefully into my gray wolf. I saw as Jacob spoke to her, sharing some pack secrets.

I listened from the woods. She really needed to drop that ice prick Edward Cullen. She didn't see that what she was experiencing was not love. It was an unhealthy obsession she had with him. Personally, she could do and be with whoever she wanted but the more I heard about this Cullen it sounded like he was controlling and had been trying to keep her just with his family. So, he was controlling, isolating her, and she wasn't allowed to make her own decisions. He was a classic abuser. And she was so desperate to be loved.

I got the mental call for food at Emily's. I debated on whether I should go in or not. I wouldn't. The less time I was in the presence of the pack the happier I was. But Sam wasn't having it. I shifted back and drug my feet going in. He mentally told me he had heard my observations of Bella. He wanted me to take her home with Jacob. Jacob nearly protested. I rolled my eyes. Of course, he wanted me to put my two cents in to try and change her mind about the Cold Ones. Help Jacob protect her.

I'd have thought anyone with sense would have changed their mind since these Cullens left her behind with that crazy red head, Victoria after her. They killed her mate. Why would you not kill her too? It just made sense to me. Then the red head almost got her at the cliffside when she went cliff diving. How that wasn't enough to change her mind, I would never know. Maybe she had a secret death wish?

We left in Jacob's Rabbit. I could tell Jacob was not happy that I was there. Bella was at least making the attempt to speak to me. I wasn't buddy/buddy with her, but I did make conversation. It was a bit tense on my part I will admit but I was civil with her. The ride to her house wasn't too bad. But then it got tense when we pulled up and she noticed a car that she recognized. It was a Cullen's car. Jake and I went into protection mode as she all but fluttered into the house. When she opened the door, she went straight into the arms of a Cold One she called Alice.

This Alice could see the future. It was explained to me that she could see the future of people and it changed based on their decisions. And according to Alice she couldn't see past Jacob and his gang of mutts, so she never saw that Bella hadn't died but had been cliff diving. That was why she was here. It was to see if Bella had really died or not. Alice was relieved that Bella was alright. She stepped out just as the phone rang. Bella and Jake had been arguing and Jake snatched the phone off the hook.

"He's planning a funeral." he snarled into the phone.

"Who was that?" Bella asked.

"They're always in the way." Jake said, "He didn't ask for you."

Before Bella could retort Alice came back in panicked. She was saying that Rosalie had told Edward about her vision of Bella. Edward had called the house and was told about Charlie planning a funeral. Edward had called and Jake had spoken to him. Bella began freaking out and then that turned to hysterics when Alice said that he was going to Italy, to Volterra, to the Volturi to commit suicide.

Bella raced upstairs and grabbed her passport, she left a note to Charlie and argued with Jake some more. Alice suddenly looked at me and said I was going with them. I would be Bella's protection if Jake was so worried. Since I was legally an adult, I can leave the country whereas he can't. I almost said no but the chance to see Italy! Wow, it was a dream come true. Yes, we were going to save the abusive crybaby vampire boy, but I wasn't going to turn it down. She gave me just enough time to get appropriate clothing on and to get my passport. Then we were off for Italy.

When we landed in Pisa, I was astonished. It was so beautiful. I followed them closely as it was my job to protect Bella. Sam had given me an earful while I was getting my stuff to come with them. When I finally got in the car, Alice had looked at me with pity. I almost snarled at her when she spoke to me. According to her vision I was meant to go to Italy. I was pacified for then.

I took some pictures of Pisa with my cell phone as Alice was getting a yellow Porsche. I had Bella take a few pictures of me in them so I would remember this for all ways. It also distracted her while we had to wait for the paperwork to go through for the rental. I was so happy to be here. It was everything I had ever dreamed. And it ended too soon for me as Alice got the Porsche and were off racing towards the city of Volterra.

Alice got us there in one piece despite she defied the laws of speed and sound. I was terrified as she drove, well raced to Volterra. When we arrived, we were stopped. Alice told Bella she would have to run, gave her directions and out Bella went. I was on her heels the whole way. We barely arrived in time. Bella caught Edward before he got full in the sun and slammed him back into the shade. It took a whole minute just to get him to believe that she was really alive and standing in front of him. I'd have bit him had I been allowed to and if it would not have scared people.

A cloaked man, very tall man, no, vampire by the smell came up behind Edward. Then another, he was tall but not as tall as the first man. They made it quite clear we were to follow them. I smelled the air. I was almost repulsed with myself. The shorter of the two men, he smelled, mouthwateringly good. Alice approached just as a short, cloaked vampire girl came up declaring Felix and Demetri were taking too long. Edward bowed his head in reverence and called her Jane. The big guy opened a grate, and we all were to jump down and follow them. I was last. The shorter of the men called up to me.

"Signorina." he said to me.

I jumped down and landed on my feet even though it was a bit of a fall. I could hear Jane mutter something about me smelling of wet dog. I sniffed myself and I didn't smell that. I could smell my coconut shampoo and body wash. The shorter of the men, no one had differentiated who was who yet, chuckled beside me as I did this.

"I smell?" I whispered to him.

"You do smell of wet dog. But I can smell that sweet shampoo you have used. I like it, piccola." he said to me.

I wasn't sure to be flattered or insulted. Jane huffed and continued leading the way.
