Chapter Nineteen

Hospital…Colby's room

Thirty minutes later…

Colby moaned as he regained consciousness, trying to recall what had just happened to him when he saw David sitting beside him.

David saw his friend's surprised look and just felt sad, as he knew that Colby didn't know what to expect from him.

"Uh, hi." David said sheepishly

"Hi, why are you here?" Colby said, before suddenly realizing something

"Don? Where is he? Is he okay? The suspects?"

"Don will be okay, eventually, as he was taken to surgery and the suspects are being interrogated right now." David answered

"Then why are you here?" Colby asked, now just confused

"To see you, really." David said quietly, knowing from Colby's face that he was unsure of what was going on

"Why? You didn't really seem to care about me that much for the last couple months and our last conversation in the garage showed me that you don't trust me at all." Colby said, still hurt by that whole affair.

"That's part of why I am here. To apologize, not just about yesterday, and for the last couple months, I don't have an excuse after so long, and I shouldn't have kept it that way and I really didn't mean what I said in the garage, and I didn't have a chance to apologize with you getting hurt and rescuing Don…"

"Fine, but did it have to really take those insults and then this situation for you to finally realize what a jerk you've been?" Colby snapped

"No, I was beginning to rethink things the last couple weeks, which obviously wasn't enough to begin with." David admitted, feeling ashamed

"Yeah." Colby simply said, unsure of what to do.

"Look." David started, still feeling uneasy about the whole situation, "I know I was an ass and it was not remotely ok, given your situation, so I would like some way to make it up to you, if you want me to."

Colby was surprised at what David was saying, but at the same time, he wanted David to at least acknowledge him and apologize.

"Sure, me and Don need to get out of the hospital first before we really get into it but we can start after Don wakes up." Colby said, as he was still really tired from everything that had happened.

"Sure, I'll be here if you need me." David said as his friend went to sleep, feeling relief that he had the chance to make things right with the team.

He also knew that Don would have a few ideas as to how.
