Late March
Izuku took a deep breath while meditating in the gardens, letting his Ki run throughout his body, cultivating as the sun was slowly rising in the wake of dawn. It had been a rather chaotic week after getting the rejection letter. His masters had been displeased, of course with the school and not with Izuku, and offered to help rectify things. Izuku declined, stating that he wanted to take control of the situation himself. He couldn't always rely on his masters to help.
Plus knowing them, it would involve the destruction of at least half of U.A. Tang San might be able to control himself out of the three, but his wife, Xiao Wu, would likely storm in to show what it meant to mess with big sister Wu's business, resulting in probably the destruction of said university.
"Morning," whispered Momo as she hugged Izuku from behind, pushing her bare chest against his back as soon as the sun had fully risen.
"Did I wake you up when I got out of bed?" asked Izuku as he calmly put his hand onto Momo's arm, relishing the warmth exuding from her body.
"A little," admitted Momo, "I was more concerned about who my homeroom teacher is going to be. So are Ochako, Itsuka, and Yui. We're hoping it's not the one who calls himself a professor and a hero with that attitude, the one who ruthlessly rejected your application with no basis whatsoever."
"From what Dean Nezu saw, you probably won't have him as your homeroom teacher. It would be too much trouble for him, especially when your parents still threaten the Dean about one of his staff's unprofessional attitude," hummed Izuku, "Plus you guys already wrote the request to not have him as your homeroom professor."
"If he is, I'll be sure to make sure his life is a living hell without having any excuse to expel me," threatened Momo with a grin before snuggling against Izuku, "Soon, we'll be heading into the university. They better not forbid us from mingling with other classes."
"It's not like they can mandate that when we have our lunches at the same time," said Izuku, "There will be some sort of social groups, but it wouldn't make sense to do such a thing since hero students do need to communicate with support and business course students."
Will you be staying here and traveling to the university since it's not too far away?" asked Momo, "My family has already bought an apartment complex that was constructed by Ochako's company for me to stay in, and Ochako and the others are planning to move into it as well. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you moving in as well."
"I appreciate it, but I'm going to remain here. My masters appointed me as the landlord of this area, and I take it seriously," said Izuku.
'Not to mention it's the best place for me to cultivate,' thought Izuku, remembering not only the teleportation formation in the basement made by Yang Kai, but also the spirit energy converging array made by Nie Li. It could be a holy place for cultivators, and it was all his.
"I can help you all move in," offered Izuku, "I might sleep over if it gets too late."
"Alright," said Momo as she nuzzled against Izuku's cheeks, "I expect cuddles every now and then when the semester starts."
"Of course," said Izuku, "Now we should head into the showers soon. Danjuro made tea this morning, and mom already made breakfast before leaving."
Momo gave Izuku a kiss before creating a small blanket to cover her nude body before heading in.
"Ochako, if you could," asked Momo as she pointed to her bed on the ground floor from the top floor balcony.
"No worries. I got it," said Ochako as she touched the bed, activating her quirk to let it float up in the air.
Itsuka and Izuku pulled on the ropes attached to the bed via a pulley system, easily getting it to the top floor where Yui was waiting on the balcony. Yui touched the bed, activating her quirk to shrink it down before pulling it into the palm of her hand.
"Thank you," thanked Momo from the balcony before pointing to where she wanted her bed at. Yui and Ochako canceled their quirks, allowing the bed to unshrink and let gravity take hold of it once more after making sure it was placed properly.
Momo, being the family landlord of the apartment, had the penthouse suite located on the top of the apartment. A bit slightly over the top as the suite claimed the whole top floor by itself, but considering the room was smaller than her banquet hall in her mansion, it was overlooked. Not to mention Momo would always welcome others into her floor if they wanted to hang out together or form a study group. In fact, one of the rooms in her apartment was converted into a small library.
Besides the top floor, there was also a second floor and the ground floor, each with 3 apartments on a floor. Ochako, Itsuka, and Yui claimed the second floor for themselves. It was a standard 1LDK for them to use, enough for a university student. The remaining three rooms at the floor level were empty, but they had a few applicants who wanted boarding to be closer to U.A.
All of them finished moving their items into their respective rooms, taking some time to eat a filling lunch. Ochako and the others were finishing up organizing their rooms while Momo prepared to interview the candidates with Izuku by her side, wearing a business dress.
Soon, the first candidate arrived, and already Izuku and Momo had a bad feeling about said candidate.
"Sooo… Mineta Minoru, is it?" began Momo, only to get no reply.
Momo looked up from the application form to see Mineta drooling as his gaze was stuck on her cleavage window, which was really small considering she had buttoned it up, her legs, or her ass.
"Ok nope," said Momo immediately, "Get him out."
"Wait, you can't do that!" cried Mineta as he managed to snap out of trance, wiping the drool off his face, "I'm a hero course student! You beautiful ladies need a man like me to protect you from the dangers of villains and stalkers, like him!"
Mineta pointed at Izuku, who felt his eyebrow twitch.
"Izuku is a very close friend whom I would trust with my life," said Momo without hesitation, "And for your information, the other tenants are also students who have been accepted into the hero course. We're well capable of protecting ourselves."
"That's even more reason that I should move in!" exclaimed Mineta, "As classmates, we should get to know each other better. Who knows, maybe we'll be friends, or even something closer, something more."
With a husky tone, Mineta began to snake his hands towards Momo's exposed knee. Before he could even touch flesh though, Izuku's hand grabbed Mineta's head, a claw ready to crush his skull.
"Izuku, just toss him away. No need to dirty your hands," said Momo, not even looking up from her clipboard.
Izuku nodded before hurling Mineta into the air, getting some impressive air time before he landed into a pile of garbage bags.
"Let's hope the next applicants aren't like him," sighed Momo as she ripped apart Mineta's application.
"I'm sure that was the exception," said Izuku with a placating tone.
The next few were not much better. One female thought it was free housing without rent, and left in a temper. Another male acted better than Mineta, but a quick background check courtesy of having La Brava on speed dial showed the man had a criminal record of harassing and molesting females. Even Mineta didn't have that on his own records. Then a second generation rich male student that was heading into the general course U.A. tried to apply while also flirting with Momo, trying to dazzle her with his money.
"My father works as a director in one of the Yaoyorozu corporation buildings," bragged the applicant, Huang Xing, "If you become my girl, I can get you anything you want. My dad already has a position ready for me when I graduate. In fact, I'm already on payroll, earning money without having to do anything!"
Momo raised her eyebrows, reading the name of the said applicant before picking up her phone to call her father about this…. Issue. As she did so, she turned the reins over to Izuku to take over while she made the call.
As soon as Izuku sat down, the teenager's face instantly turned into disgust, lifting his chin as if he was above Izuku and looking down at him.
"Don't think you're anything special because you're friends with that chick," said Huang with a smug tone, "You'll soon learn there are some things you can't ever reach. Know your place in life, commoner!"
Huang turned his head towards Momo, "She's lucky she's got a hot body that an elite like me is interested in! I bet it won't take long before she's under my body, moaning my name! It'll be awhile before I get tired of her."
"You really don't know who you just insulted, do you?" said Izuku, amused at how cocky the boy was. Of course, if he tried to do so, Izuku would beat the crap out of him.
"Hm? Is there anyone in this world that I can't afford to offend?" scoffed Huang, unknowingly tying the noose around his neck even tighter.
Suddenly, Huang's phone started ringing, to which he picked up, showcasing how it was the newest model that hadn't even been released into the market, before answering it.
"You brat! Do you know what you've done!?" blasted the voice from the phone, potentially rupturing Huang's eardrums from the speaker, "I'm facing an inquiry at work for embezzlement! They somehow figured out that I've added you into the payroll. Did you blast out the news for everyone to hear!?"
Huang paled at the news before looking at Momo, who smugly sat back down in front of him as Izuku pulled up another chair for her.
"You! You did this!" shouted Huang, spit coming out of his mouth, "Do you know who I am!? Don't you know that I can make your life a living hell for this!? I still have connections that I can use to turn you into a whore for others unless you beg for your life!"
"The better question is do you know who I am?" riposted Momo.
"You? You're probably a two-bit whore that leeches on anyone who shows you some money! That's probably why you're so close to him!" shouted Huang. He would've continued had Izuku not suddenly surge forward, grabbing him by his neck before lifting him up to the air.
"Apologize," said Izuku sternly, tightening his grip.
"Izuku, dear, no need," said Momo, "For your information, I'm the landlord of the apartments here, a hero course student for the upcoming semester at U.A., heiress to the Yaoyorozu corporation, Momo Yaoyorozu.
As soon Momo stated her name, Huang paled. He realized that he had kicked an iron plate with his words. More specifically if said iron plate was made of sharpened diamonds that he put his full force into said sharp object. He had been bragging that his family was stealing money from her corporation.
'Maybe I can fix this!' thought Huang as he stared at Momo, 'I'll force her under my will, break her and mold her to my slave! Then my family will inherit their money and become the richest in the world! All I need to do is-'
Huang didn't get to think much about his plan anymore as Izuku had tightened his grip on Huang's throat, choking him and threatening to break his neck.
"Don't dirty your hands on this boy, my men got it," said an old voice from behind them.
Izuku and the others looked to see Momo's grandfather, Morino, had arrived with a security detail.
"I'll take it from here," stated Morino, gesturing to his men to step forward.
Izuku nodded and let go of Huang, letting him fall onto the ground onto his butt. Before Huang could do anything though, he found himself being dogpiled by the security guards, cuffing him before dragging him away.
"I could've handled that," said Izuku.
"I know, but I'd rather my benefactor's disciple not dirty himself with this situation, especially being so close to starting at U.A.," chuckled Morino, "I still say that you should've let me handle that situation. I could easily pull strings to get you back in the hero course and destroy that man's career. Despite my age, I still have connections."
"I appreciate it, but this is one battle I will fight myself," said Izuku with an appreciative smile, "Not to mention I'll be studying under Nezu directly."
"I suppose so," hummed Morino, "The rat is someone to be wary of, but if he's taken this step to help you, then I suppose it's fine…. Sort of…. I'll be looking out just in case. Now then, take care, and if you would, please look out for my granddaughter while you're at U.A. And Momo….. I'm still too young to be a great-grandfather, so do control yourself with young Midoriya, while the temptation is great within college."
"Grandfather!" gasped Momo, scandalized and embarrassed at her grandfather's words, who merely laughed before signaling his men to continue tortur…. bea… interrogating Huang.
Momo used the chance to cool down her beating red face while Izuku finished helping Ochako and the others with the final touches to their room when the next applicant came.
"Tokage Setsuna?" asked Momo.
"That's me!" smiled Setsuna, "Hey, I remember you! You were at the recommendation exam."
Momo raised her eye before remembering that she had seen Setsuna before.
"Oh, you're the one that could split apart," realized Momo.
"Yea, that's me," grinned Setsuna, "Would've gotten away with a recommendation if it weren't for you meddling kids."
Momo giggled at that before clearing her throat, "Are you still trying for the Hero course?"
"Yep," said Setsuna as she gave a victory sign, "Took the general exam and got in! Speaking of which, I should message my green haired friend about that. Last I saw him, he was kicking butt despite being quirkless and that asshole Kaba stole his staff. He should've made it!"
Momo quirked her eyebrow at the description that Setsuna had given. There was only one person she knew that matched that description.
"Tokage-san?" asked Izuku as he came down the stairs in time to see her typing on her phone.
"Hey!" grinned Setsuna, "I told you it was okay to call me by my first name! Anyways I got in! Did you? I heard from the grapevine that Kaba completely bombed his. Didn't even pass the written exam portion, let alone the physical, and so he can't even get into the general course!"
"That's good to hear," chuckled Izuku, "As for the other question…. It's a bit complicated."
Setsuna narrowed her eyes, "Uncomplicate it then. No way you didn't make it."
A short story/explanation later, Setsuna took a deep breath, detaching her mouth away before looking at Momo, who nodded and waved it towards the room. Setsuna sent her mouth, an eye, and a hand to go into the room and close the door. A few seconds later, a muffled voice could barely be heard from the room, if one strained their ears and tried to listen for it. After a long minute, the door opened up with the said limbs reattaching to Setsuna.
"Good soundproofing," nodded Setsuna as she took a sip of water, "I was shouting profanity as loud as I could, and I barely heard that, and I have a pretty loud voice, too. So while I got that out of my system…. What the fuck and explain it to me again?"
After another explanation, Setsuna took a deep breath.
"Well at least you're in a special class, so you didn't get totally bashed," sighed Setsuna, "I'm so writing a request to not have Eraser Head as my home room teacher, or he's going to be suffering pranks until we graduate."
"While entertaining as it may be, I believe we have gotten off track for the purpose of your visit today," said Momo as she gently pried the conversation back to the original purpose.
"Ah right, sorry," apologized Setsuna, "Yea, I heard that this place was renting out rooms close to U.A., and since I'm a hero course student, I thought it'd be convenient to live somewhere closer than taking the train to the university everyday. Plus, I figured it would be a way to get some freedom living by myself while learning some responsibility on how to take care of myself. Let my parents have some breathing room, right?"
"I see," nodded Momo, "Why not live in the dorms that U.A. provides? They have some within the grounds, and it'd be much closer to your classes."
"I thought about that, and honestly, that's my second choice," said Setsuna, "It feels a little too close to school, if you get my drift. Easier to head to a grocery store if I need something for emergencies or supplies, since this place is conveniently located near a supermarket and a discount store. Plus the bathrooms are shared, so there's no privacy besides booths."
'That, and no private time in the bathroom,' mentally added Setsuna to herself. She liked to just sink down into a bathtub every now and then to relax her whole body, sometimes even breaking into pieces so every part of her body was submerged into the hot water. While she had her eye in the room, she had taken a quick peek in the shower room, and saw it was slightly bigger than the average 1LDK apartment. In fact, the whole room was bigger than the average ones.
"I see," nodded Momo, "Well, Izuku has recommended that you would be a good tenant based on first impressions, so I don't see any problems welcoming you as a tenant."
"Sweet!" cheered Setsuna as she fist pumped the air, "Now then, let's get into the details. What am I allowed to bring and what can't I do?"
Izuku allowed them to go into details about the living conditions, excusing himself to help out others. In reality, after entering Momo's apartment, he entered the sealed world to check on the various plants he had been entrusted to raise. Luckily, within the sealed world were various arrays that helped not only water the plants, but even accelerated their aging. Right now, some of the 100 year old ginsengs were ripe for harvests, as well as a few other plants.
"I should take this time to also create some pills for Momo and the others," hummed Izuku to himself as he took out his cauldron, "Right then, time to practice my alchemy."
When Izuku came out, it was already night time. Setsuna had already gone back home to prepare to move in, while Ochako and the others went back home to spend time with family. Only Momo was left, who was currently inside her personal library.
"Looks like I stayed a bit longer than I thought," said Izuku as he wiped off some sweat, "I should head home too."
"Oh, Izuku," greeted Momo, only slightly surprised at Izuku's sudden appearance, "Everybody else has gone home."
"Did you get any new tenants?" asked Izuku.
Momo nodded her head, "Tokage Setsuna and one other. My father came by earlier and asked one of the rooms be used to house a trusted employee who would be responsible for the security of the apartments as well as cleaning the area around the apartment. As for the last one, she'll be coming tomorrow to conduct the final interview, though she was referred by Tokage.
Izuku nodded and was ready to head out when Momo pulled him back by the hem of his shirt.
"You wouldn't leave me alone in this apartment tonight, would you?" asked Momo, pouting her lips while pushing her chest out, "Plus, you seem like you need to freshen up as do I. Perhaps we can save some water while we… break in some of the rooms, so to speak?"
Izuku instantly understood her message, and without hesitation, hefted Momo up bridal style and immediately marched to the shower room with Momo giggling. A few seconds after entering the shower room, clothes came flying out, followed by underwear. As the lace bra that landed on the edge of a cabinet began to tip over to fall onto the ground, the sound of water could be heard splashing about. As steam began to escape the bottom of the door leading to the shower, so did the giggles and laughs before they slowly turned into moans.
Izuku and Momo would both be sleeping late as they were busy throughout the whole night in various rooms.
Aizawa Shouta yawned as he finished his patrol before sitting down at his desk. In just a week, the semester would start, and he'd have to deal with 21 students that would likely give him a headache. Hopefully, he could reduce those numbers in the following weeks. He had already submitted his requests of which students he wanted. Hitoshi was his, that was certain, as he put his recommendation for the student, so it would make no sense to have Vlad as his homeroom teacher, just like Himiko would be his.
In the recommended student section, he wanted Todoroki Shoto and Yaoyorozu Momo. The other two were too loud for his taste. Shoto was stoic, most likely because of his father, and Momo with her upbringing would most likely be respectful of his position. As for the other students, he had specifically chosen a few powerful ones and a few….. weaker ones. Ones he was confident that Hitoshi could overpower if it came to pure brute force without quirks. He would teach them, of course, but it didn't hurt to bring up his own recommendation's confidence.
Opening up his class list, Shota scanned down the list, blinking a few times before going over it once more. Making a copy, Shota quickly marched down to Nezu's room, who was drinking tea before slamming down the list.
"Why aren't the students I requested on this list?" demanded Shota, "I specifically had them requested for my class."
Nezu merely continued to drink his tea before replying to Shota, "I saw your request, and chose to refuse some of them. You should be content with the batch of students you're getting, some of them are the ones you wanted."
"I requested these students on my list for a special reason," said Shota, trying to convince Nezu to switch back to his requests, "Momo Yaoyorozu will especially be helpful in my class, and in return, I can teach her how to become a better hero than Vlad can."
"Don't underestimate Vlad," said Nezu without batting an eye, "Plus the fact that both can mold weapons with their quirks is something to consider. Not to mention the said student has requested that you not be her homeroom professor."
Shota scoffed, "And since when do we need to bend over to what the student wants? That's unlike you."
"The same moment that you decided to cater to a whining boy and the irrational HSPC," shot back Nezu coldly, "You already had one concession go your way with that boy while trying to destroy another. Don't push it."
"Is this about Midoriya?" sighed Shota, "I told you, it's irrational to even think about taking him as a hero student, let alone a student at all with no-"
Shota was silenced when Nezu slammed his tea down.
"That is not your decision to make," said Nezu, "You already went over my head by sending that rejection letter without my authorization or approval. Did you know that the Yaoyorozu family considers Midoriya one of them? I'm not sure about the details, but I know they threatened to sue us for this matter. Already they have discovered that Midoriya, who scored the highest and should have deserved a spot, was replaced with someone who has had no real training. One might say he is ill-suited at his current state, and yet he was taken into a prestigious university and into the prestigious hero course because a professor, on a last minute whim, might I add, decided to put in a recommendation. Without filling out the proper paperwork, to which I am still waiting for. The only reason they haven't is because of me, and only me."
Shota scoffed and muttered for a second before turning to leave. He could still work with the list he had, but he was going to make damn sure that the others would regret their decision. He could make a few calls, pull a few strings to get what he wanted. If the student wanted to transfer into his class, then Nezu would have no choice but to accept their decision, and he could also force a few out.
"Oh, and Aizawa?" said Nezu, "If that wasn't a subtle enough hint, I'm waiting for that paperwork. Otherwise I'll expel Shinso Hitoshi myself before he steps into the hero course, and while it may leave a stain on the university, it'll leave a bigger mark on yours."
Shota froze for a second before grinding his teeth. The amount of paperwork needed would take hours to finish, along with his plan to help Hitoshi get caught up to speed. All of which would take time to do, leaving him unable to even formulate a proper plan to get the students he wanted into his classroom.
Shota clicked his tongue in distaste before walking back to his office, where he began filling out the paperwork to have Shinso Hitoshi under his recommendation.
Nezu sighed as he watched Shota walk away. He was aware of why Shota had taken such a harsh stance against Izuku, but he disagreed with it. The man was too mired in the past to look to a new future.
April
It was the start of their college life now. Everyone was talking to each other excitedly as they made their way to their respective schools. Some were nervous, some were relaxed, and some were breathing heavily into bags to calm themselves.
"I still can't believe we're not in the same class," muttered Ochako as she smoothed out her uniform.
"No use complaining now," said Izuku as he walked next to her, "We already agreed this was the best course of action."
"I know, but I can still whine, can't I?" pouted Ochako as she pushed her body against Izuku, "There were so many plans that we had if we were in the same class."
"I hope none of those plans involved doing something inappropriate on the university grounds," said Momo from the other side.
While Ochako looked to the side to whistle, Yui spoke up, "Bathroom."
"Yui!" gasped Itsuka, scandalized at her admission and slightly in awe at her blunt willingness.
"What are we talking about?" asked Setsuna as she walked up to them.
"Nothing," said a slightly flustered Momo, "How are your rooms?"
"Comfortable, but getting used to it," shrugged Setsuna, "How about you, Yanagi?"
"The room is more than adequate for my needs," said the last tenant of the apartment, Yanagi Reiko. She had been the one that Setsuna had recommended, and upon an interview, was quickly accepted.
"You guys get your class listing?" asked Itsuka, changing the subject swiftly, "I'm in Class 101-B."
"Same/Ditto/As well as I," was the general response.
"Hopefully it's not that jerk," huffed Ochako.
"I think you guys are safe," hummed Izuku, "Nezu mentioned that he was making sure there would be conflict, so it wouldn't make sense to have Momo in his class to avoid any litigation."
Izuku had met with Nezu via video conferences a few times so as to help plan out his education. He had also tested Izuku on a few subjects, and for the most part, seemed pleased at the results. Nezu had been surprised to see Izuku was capable of metallurgy, and suggested if Izuku wanted to head into the Support Course, he would approve of it. Though tempting, Izuku refused. However, Izuku did get a concession from Nezu that he would be allowed into the Support Course labs, if only to have another location to craft some of his own gears.
"Well, I guess this is where we separate for now," mused Izuku as he walked the girls to their class, 101-B.
"See you at lunch," waved Setsuna, "We'll save you a spot, but don't be afraid to make friends with the other students!"
Izuku nodded and waved as he left for his own classroom. As he descended down the stairs, Aizawa glared at Izuku from the stairs above.
"So he decided to attend here. Foolish," scoffed Shota, "If he wants to get a good education, that's fine. But if he thinks he can become a hero, then he's dreaming a fool's dream. I'll expel him from this university before he even steps foot into either classroom."
From above him, Nezu and Toshinori looked down at Shota, their eyes narrowed.
"I know Eraser Head isn't a fan of me, but this is too extreme, even for him," commented Toshinori, "Why does he continue to try to pick on Midoriya?"
"It doesn't matter," said Nezu, "He'll find out soon enough that he doesn't have the power to expel MY student without a very good reason. It's not my fault he doesn't read the fine print on my emails in regards to students in different courses."
"You made the inclusion of Midoriya in size one font," deadpanned Toshinori, to which Nezu chuckled.
"You can easily enlarge the fonts. It's not my fault that some people don't check the details," cackled Nezu whimsically, "Well then, we should prepare for our respective classes."
Toshinori nodded as the two walked away.
Izuku took a deep breath before entering 101-C. Though disappointed that he wouldn't be with Momo and the others, he stood resolute in his chosen path. Entering the room, Izuku quickly took a seat, watching other students walk in. Some seemed excited, others seemed depressed they were in there. Izuku theorized those people were most likely students who tried and failed to enter into the hero course.
"Ah, you're here!?" said a voice, causing Izuku to turn to the source to see Togeike Chikuchi looking at him.
"Togeike-san," greeted Izuku.
"Hi, you're Midoriya, right? Wait, that's not what I was asking about!" said Chikuchi, "Why aren't you in the hero course? I saw you racking points like crazy, and you definitely got rescue points. So why didn't you get in? Did something happen?" asked Chikuchi.
"Yea, something did happen," coughed Izuku, "It's….. rather complicated."
Before Chikuchi could press forward with her questions, the bell rang, signifying the start of class.
"You're going to explain it to me later," hissed Chikuchi before quickly sitting down.
The door opened to reveal Kayama Nemuri walking into the classroom, stopping in front of the teacher's podium.
"Welcome to your first class in U.A. university in the General Course. Here, you'll get the quality education you all deserve. I am professor Kayama Nemuri, R-Rated Heroine: Midnight," introduced Nemuri to the class.
One had to remember that while getting into the Hero Course was very difficult, it didn't mean that the General Course exams weren't easy either. In order to pass, a score of 80% or higher was the minimum needed to get in, and since the U.A. entrance exam was boasted to be one of the most difficult exams, a lot of people were unable to meet that mark.
"Of course, some of you may be trying to get into another course," continued Nemuri, "Such fiery passion is something I love!"
Nemuri gave them a sultry look while licking her lips, causing quite a few students to blush.
"You may call me Professor Kayama, Professor Midnight, or just Midnight," stated Nemuri, "Please don't be afraid to ask me for help if needed. Now then, why don't we begin with a simple role call so as to familiarize ourselves with others. Just stand up when I call your name so everyone can see you, and if you want, you can give a small intro about yourself."
Nemuri began going through the names, with most of them stating what their quirk was. When Chikuchi was called, she stood up.
"My quirk is called Seed Growth. I can accelerate the growth of seeds up to a certain point," stated Chikuchi before sitting down.
Finally, it was Izuku's turn. Izuku contemplated on his own introduction before deciding to just rip the bandage off quickly instead of delaying it.
"I'm quirkless," stated Izuku bluntly. Immediately there were whispers and discussions all around him, as he expected. He glanced over to see a group sneering at him, as if he was an easy target. Another group looked at him in disgust. Most seemed apathetic though. However, there were outliers to the usual attitude he had been subjected to. Before the mutterings could grow, Nemuri slapped her flogger whip into the air, snapping everyone's attention back at her.
"I should mention that U.A. university has a strict policy against bullying," warned Midnight, "You may attempt to push this line, but I would warn you against this, especially when the staff here are almost all Pro-Heroes. And that's not including what Dean Nezu can do."
Quite a few were sufficiently cowed by this, though Izuku could see some were thinking of other ways. He ignored them, having long gotten used to such thinking.
After everyone was done with their introductions, Nemuri led them to the auditorium where the entrance ceremony and orientation was being held.
"So you're quirkless?" whispered Chikuchi.
"Is there a problem?" asked Izuku.
"No,no,no!" panicked Chikuchi, waving her hands frantically, "I didn't mean it as an insult! I was just shocked that you could kick ass without a quirk, and yet somehow not get in."
"There were….. complications," admitted Izuku.
"Like what?" asked a male student from behind them, with a pompadour hairstyle, "Oh, names Agoyamato Tsutsutaka if you forgot, but you can shorten it to Yamato if you want."
"An asshole professor who thought it was okay to expel me from the list to make room for someone more 'worthy' before the semester started," said Izuku curtly, "And it passed thanks to the HSPC backing him up, despite the fact I got 100 points in the practical exam."
The two gaped at Izuku's blunt admission as well as the reason why he wasn't in the hero course. Before they could ask for more details, they had arrived at the auditorium. As students were getting seated, Nemuri called Izuku to the side for a moment.
"Midoriya," began Nemuri as she took a deep breath, "I know how disappointed you must feel with what happened. Having the highest grade in practical and one of the highest in the written exam should have gotten you a spot in the hero course, and yet you were robbed of your chance."
"Is there a point to this?" asked Izuku bluntly, "Are you defending your co-workers position?"
"No!" said Nemuri hastily, "I disagree with his reasoning. All I'm saying is that should you apply for the hero course, I will be behind you 100%. No doubt you know that the U.A. sports festival is a chance for those who were at a disadvantage to move up into the hero course. And with your abilities, no doubt you can prove to everyone that you deserve a spot there."
"Not that it'll do much when 'professor' Aizawa has already threatened to expel me from the hero course even if I make it in via sports festival," replied Izuku.
"What!?" hissed Nemuri, "Surely you can't be serious about that accusation?"
"He said it plainly in my rejection letter," shot back Izuku, "Told me not to even bother trying at the U.A. sports festival on the account that I apparently have zero potential to be a hero."
Nemuri took a deep breath, trying to resist the urge to hunt down Shota to throttle him before replying, "Rest assured, I will do everything in my power to make sure that doesn't happen. The other Hero Course professor for the freshmen, Professor Kan Sekijiro, aka Vlad King, was more than willing to approve you into his class. Now then, I've held you back long enough. Go ahead and take a seat."
Izuku nodded as he left, finding a seat that Chikuchi had left for him. Looking around, he found class 101-B sitting further ahead. It was just in time as Ochako turned her head to see Izuku before quickly waving at him. He smiled as he waved back. Despite being in different classes, their bonds were still strong.
Soon enough, Nezu came up to the podium, making a quick introduction of himself and the staff before going over the school grounds, rules, etc. Someone quite useful as the university itself was large.
Bakugo Katsuki glanced over at his classmates as his lips curled. They had skipped the orientation to dive straight into the Quirk Apprehension test. Not that he minded, as it would just cement the fact that he will become the number one in the class. It was just that some of his classmates that he was seeing raised some questionable qualities U.A. was looking for. Especially the one with indigo hair and bags under his eyes. In fact, he was sure Izuku could beat the majority of the ones here, even if he was quirkless.
His mind went back to Izuku. Ever since he had finished his community service, he had barely seen him ever again, and had fallen out of communication with him, especially in the latter years of highschool. Though it was to be expected after what happened between them. Only his mother and father kept in contact with Inko as they were good friends, but their own friendship had fallen out. Still, the parents would give birthday presents for each other, but that was it.
"Deku better have made it to the other hero course," muttered Katsuki as he watched the other students take the test. He remembered seeing him at the entrance exam, and knew that Izuku hadn't given up his dreams yet.
He scoffed as he saw how poorly the indigo haired student was doing. He also stopped the copycat from copying his quirk after the first time, especially when he threatened to blast the blondie into oblivion if he tried that again.
Not only that, but the only one whom he would've considered a 'friend' was in the other class.
Soon, the results were released, and Katsuki saw that he had placed 1st, barely scrapping over the 2nd place. While he would've preferred to be the undisputed number one, he would take it. Todoroki Shota wasn't a nobody, as much as he wanted to admit. He was the son of Endeavor, the current number 2 hero in Japan.
Speaking of number two, Katsuki glanced over to see Shota with an ice cold stoic face. He shrugged before going down the list. He would get used to being number two. Afterall, his father was stuck at being number two.
As he expected, the Indigo hair kid was last place, followed by the kid with purple balls for hair. And yet, the professor's 'threat' was never carried out, as he claimed it was a rational bluff.
'What's so special about him?' thought Katsuki as he narrowed his eyes, 'He doesn't seem to have a quirk, or at least one that would help him in these tests. How did he even pass the entrance exam? I'm sure Deku would've blown him out of the water. And his strength and stamina is pathetic.'
Since he never talked to Izuku anymore, he had no idea that Hitoshi had replaced Izuku when Shota unjustly kicked Izuku out of the hero course.
"Go back to your classroom to pick up your itinerary sheets and schedule," ordered Shota, "Familiarize yourself with the map given. It will be lunch time soon."
As he left, the second to last place began crying, stating why there weren't any female students in the class. Katsuki and pretty much everybody else ignored him as they marched back to the gym to change back into their uniform.
Nezu was winding down with the orientation when he contemplated on making one last announcement. Shota wasn't here, so it was his own fault for skipping the orientation when Nezu warned him each year about doing so, something that never seemed to stick. Well this time, it would work out in his favor.
Nezu quirked his head towards Izuku, as if notifying him what he had planned to do. Izuku caught it, and after a second, decided to nod back. There was no point in hiding it, as everybody would know soon enough.
"And lastly, we will welcome one more class course this year," announced Nezu, causing everyone's attention to snap towards him. The last letter class was class 101-K, and that class was part of the Department of Management.
"This class will have its own department, called Class 101-N. I will be personally teaching this class," continued Nezu, causing everyone to look at each other as chatter increased, "As of right now, there is only one student in this class, so one could say this student is potentially my apprentice. Due to some time constraints as well as needing to socialize with other students, his homeroom and general education courses will be with 101-C. So please welcome Izuku Midoriya as the current student of 101-N."
Izuku could see and feel everyone turning around to stare at him. He could hear some of his 'classmates' muttering about how it was unfair that a quirkless person like him had such an honor. He could imagine they were making plans to either force him out or try to convince Nezu that they were more worthier than him. The other classes in the Department of General Education seemed to have mixed thoughts as well. The Department of Support students merely glanced at him with curiosity, though Izuku swore one of them had some sort of sparkling in her eyes that seemed to creep him out. With the Department of Management, many glanced at Izuku, pondering about his potential as a business partner before dismissing him as a project that would fail. However, a few realized that with Izuku's connection to Nezu, he was a diamond in the rough. No doubt there had to be some potential for Nezu to take Izuku under his wing, but that also meant connections that nobody but Nezu could have. Earning Izuku's trust was a chance to earn Nezu's trust, and such a thing was worth trying.
With 101-B, the only other hero course attending the orientation, they all looked at Izuku with curiosity. Momo, Ochako, Itsuka, and Yui obviously supported him. Vlad King blinked before he began to enthusiastically applauding for Izuku. That caused a chain reaction as Himiko Toga, his chosen recommendation, quickly followed his lead, which began to spread among the staff and students.
"That is everything," concluded Nezu as the clapping died down, "Now then, your professors will guide you back to the classroom, where a packet will be there for you to review over and sign. After that, it should be lunch time."
The students were guided back to their respective classrooms, where they found said packet before going over it. It was a typical contract stating that they would be on their best behavior worthy of becoming a U.A. student as well as understanding the rules and consequences of breaking them. As the students finished reading through the packets and signing them before turning them to their respective homeroom teachers, the bell rang to signal it was lunch time.
As Izuku expected, most of his classmates ignored him, some giving him dark glares as they left. Still, he was pleasantly surprised to see Tsutsutaka and Chikuchi apparently waiting for him as he left the classroom last.
"So, special class eh?" asked Tsutsutaka as they walked to the cafeteria, "Sounds impressive. But what does that have to do with what you said earlier about an asshole professor?"
"Yea, it sounds like you got the better deal," nodded Chikuchi.
Izuku shook his head, "Maybe. But the fact is that I was supposed to be accepted into the Hero Course. I got a total of 100 points, surpassing all the other students, and yet 'professor' Aizawa sent me a rejection letter saying I got 0 points because I was supposed to be 'responsible' for the staff I requested that ended up hitting the 0 pointer, despite the fact it was the faculty's fault for not even giving it to me in the first place. I don't know if he didn't know or he just refuses to see it that way, but it was a 'convenient' excuse to put his own recommendation in. And considering just who it was…. I was pissed when I found out what their own score was."
"How much?" asked Chikuchi, "I got a total of 25 points."
"Damn, 100? That's impressive, even if you had a quirk. The fact you did it without having one is even more manly!" praised Tsutsutaka, "I got 29 in total. I think I was told I just missed the cutoff. Man, if I knew about the rescue points, I would've used my quirk on others."
Tsutsutaka's quirk, which he called Amp Up, allowed him to increase someone's base strength by 50% if he cheered for them. He could do it to himself, but it was only a quarter as effective, meaning his strength increase was only about 12%, a rather minimal increase.
They arrived at the cafeteria, grabbing their order before finding a place to sit. Upon looking around, he could see most of the freshmen being wary of him, each one of them closing in ranks to prevent any space for them to sit with them.
"Izuku! Over here!"
Izuku looked over to see Ochako waiving him over, pointing to a spot next to her and Momo. Seeing there were more spaces for the three of them, Izuku invited Chikuchi and Tsutsutaka to sit with them. The two were nervous about sitting with other hero students, but in the end decided to join them. Besides Ochako and Momo, Itsuka and Yui were sitting across from them, and then joining them was another teenager with spiky buntails, whom they introduced her as Toga Himiko.
"So you're the one that our homeroom professor recommended?" asked Izuku with interest. From what he could see, Vlad had been most enthusiastic at Izuku's acceptance to 101-N.
"Yea, he's my uncle," nodded Himiko, "I say uncle, but he's like my uncle thrice removed or something. But I consider him more like my dad than my real parents, considering what they tried to do."
Before they could ask for clarification, Izuku heard an old nickname he hadn't heard for a long time.
"Deku. You're in class 101-B?" asked Katsuki from behind.
Izuku turned his head to see Katsuki standing there with his tray. Following him were the same two people that Izuku recalled sitting next to him during the entrance exam.
"Yo! Didn't know that Bakugo knew someone else that was also coming to U.A.!" greeted the teenager with spiky red hair, "Names Kirishima Eijiro. This lady is my girlfriend, Ashido Mina! I was little sad that Bakugo wasn't in the same class as us, but least we can still meet up. But I don't remember seeing you in our class either."
Before Katsuki could ask what that meant, or the introduced Mina could tell off her boyfriend that just who Midoriya was, another person interrupted them via clearing said throat.
They all turned to see Aizawa Shota glaring down at them with his quirk active based on his red eyes and floating bangs.
"General Education students shouldn't be socializing with the Hero course students. It is irrational and a waste of time," said Shota heartlessly, looking directly at Izuku, "Remove yourself from the table so as to not distract them."
"WHAT!?" roared Katsuki, demanding an answer as to why Izuku was in the General Education when he could beat the shit out of the majority of the hero course students, but he was ignored.
"Don't make me repeat myself," said Shota as he waived Hitoshi over, wanting him to take Izuku's seat. Having him sit next to Momo would help ensure his plans would go smoothly.
Izuku got out of the chair and stood up, not to move away, but to stare down Shota face to face, looking him straight in the eye.
"Don't get so cocky, 'professor'," mocked Izuku, using quotations that could clearly be heard to emphasize his sarcasm, "You have no control over me nor the other hero students despite being one of the homeroom teachers to the Hero Course."
"I have the power to expel you from U.A. if you don't follow my directions," threatened Shota, "Now move and keep your head down."
"No," rejected Izuku, calling his bluff, "I can easily have it appealed. There is nothing in the rules that states that students from other courses can't socialize with each other. In fact, it is encouraged."
"You would do well to respect my position," warned Shota.
"Respect is earned, not given," said Izuku coolly, "I respect you as an effective hero, but not as a professor, especially what you pulled."
"You were told the reason why you got 0-" began Shota, only for Izuku to scoff.
"And you never bothered finding out just why my staff ended up in the hands of another examinee?" scoffed Izuku, "You're a poorer hero than I thought. Makes me wonder what else is flawed in your eyes."
Izuku glanced over to Hitoshi, "And you believe that you deserve your position in the hero course?"
Hitoshi slightly wilted at Izuku's glare before standing back up, "Of course. Aizawa-sensei saw the potential in me despite how biased the entrance exam was. It was made for those with a flashy quirk. I doubt someone like you could understand what it's like. You have no idea what it's like to be looked down upon for having a villainous quirk."
"I don't have a quirk," snorted Izuku, "And yet that didn't stop me."
"Hmph, you probably barely made the cut then," declared Hitoshi, though there was a slight hesitation in his voice before doubling down on his claim.
"And you're one to brag?" said Izuku with a raised eyebrow, "And playing the victim card against me? I had to deal with my whole middle school trying to ostracize me for being quirkless, but I refused to play the victim!"
While Hitoshi and Shota tried to call out on Izuku's claim, he pushed on, "And would you care to let everyone know just how many points you got in the practical?"
Hitoshi stammered at this before Shota decided to cover, "That's not important."
"I think it is," lambasted Izuku, "Afterall, he feels so confident being your recommended student. I'm not afraid to say what my score was before you pulled your bullshit!"
At this point, everyone in the cafeteria was looking at the confrontation going on, with none of the students attempting to intervene.
"I got 57 villain points and 43 rescue points, netting a total of 100 points, and you decided to expel me out of the Hero course before the semester started because I am quirkless!" shouted Izuku loudly, "And then you had the gall to replace me with someone who only had 4 villain points and 15 rescue points, with a total of 19 points, and still look proud of doing so!?"
At this point, there was an outburst of muttering at this statement. Hitoshi looked crimson at being exposed so ruthlessly while several of the general education students looked at Hitoshi with a venomous glare.
"What the hell, I got 29 points total, and he got in? He looks like he barely lifts," muttered Tsutsutaka.
"How did you get those scores?" hissed Shota before recomposing himself, "No matter. My decision is final in this matter. Just like my decision is in this is. Izuku Midoriya, you are expelled from U.A. university, effective immediately!"
There was a collective loud gasp from the audience, witnessing an expulsion in such a public area and on the first day.
"On what grounds?" said Izuku cooly, "I've broken no rules besides the ones you made up."
"You have no right to question me," said Shota harshly, "We teachers have the freedom to do whatever we feel is necessary for the sake of the university and the students. One bad apple could spoil the barrel, so it is necessary to make sure the bad apple is disposed with extreme prejudice. Pack up your items and go home brat."
"I refuse," said Izuku as he stood his ground, "I thought that maybe you had some good in you, but with your disgusting behavior just disapproved of that! Instead of even trying to explain it to your point of view, you dismissed me because you didn't even want to bother doing so out of laziness! What sort of professor are you!?"
Shota saw red, which was interesting as his pupils did turn red when he activated his quirk, but it never affected his vision. Shota raised his fist, ready to punch Izuku when a whip suddenly wrapped around his wrist.
"Shota!" shouted Nemuri as She held the whip tightly, "I'm rescinding that expulsion. Midoriya is right that you have no basis to expel my student. While this could have been handled better and privately, you initiated the situation when you demanded him to move. Even as professors, we do not have the power to order whom the students socialize with."
Shota held strong as he glanced at Nemuri, "He revealed test scores that were supposed to be private. That itself is enough for expulsion."
"If you properly read the e-mail or attended the orientation instead of skipping them as you usually do, then you would know just why Midoriya might know. And it isn't unreasonable to know just who replaced him, considering he placed first in the entrance exam before you pulled that stunt."
"You baby your student too much," shot Shota, "He's an adult. He needs to learn that life isn't fair."
"I'd say the same back to you," riposted Nemuri, "But the fact is that he's not my student. Well, not only my student. If you attended the orientation properly instead of skipping it, you'd learn that Midoriya Izuku is also the current and only student of the newly opened Class 101-N, headed by Dean Nezu himself as he recommended him."
"Oh yea, that's who he is," whispered Eijiro as Mina elbowed him.
"What?" said Shota flatly.
"Yes, meaning that any attempts to expel Midoriya must go through Dean Nezu himself," said Nemuri, "Now then, calm down and follow me before you escalate the situation again. Dean Nezu has already sent me a text to have you meet with him in his office."
Shota gave Izuku one last glare before huffing and walking away, allowing Nemuri to loosen her grip on the whip to give some slack to release Shota.
"I'm sorry about that, enjoy your lunch," apologized Nemuri before rushing to walk with Shota.
While everyone slowly began talking once more, two female 4th year students glanced at Izuku.
"That boy had a lotta guts to pull that shit," grinned the senior with tanned skin, white hair, and white bunny ears.
"While it was brave, it was almost foolish," replied the other senior, who had blonde hair with her bangs swept to the side, covering her right side of her face, "He almost got expelled!"
"Eh, it's better than being a coward," scoffed the other, "Not to mention from what Professor Midnight said, he's going to be Dean Nezu's student. That's gotta count for something, right Ryuko?"
"Rumi," sighed Tatsuma Ryuko, "Not every problem can be resolved with brute force and a swift kick."
"Worked for me every time!" grinned Usagiyama Rumi.
"Still, the fact he got 100 points in the entrance exam and was rejected from the Hero Course is rather concerning," frowned Ryuko, "There shouldn't be a reason to reject him, even if he is quirkless. He's earned it."
"It's Eraser Head," snorted Rumi, "When has he been 'reasonable'? For someone who talks all that shit, he's the most irrational one out of the U.A. staff. Remember how he tried to kick me out of the Hero Course our freshman year because he thought a rabbit quirk was useless?"
"He tried to remove you because you tried to kick him in the balls for looking at you wrong," sighed Ryuko.
"His comments said otherwise," defended Rumi, "Thankfully I was able to get a classroom switch to professor Vlad's class. Otherwise, we wouldn't have met!"
Ryuko merely held her hand to her nose to stave off the headache, not wanting to bother to continue this conversation. Still, Izuku Midoriya was someone she was certainly going to keep an eye on. Something about him rang within her, but she didn't know what exactly.
The two walked in silence for a bit before Nemuri decided to bite the bullet.
"Why are you so stubborn in stopping Midoriya from becoming a hero?" asked Nemuri, "You're normally not like this. When did you change to those quirk elitists who look down on others?"
"I'm not," hissed Shota.
"You could've fooled me," said Nemuri with a raised eyebrow, "It seems pretty obvious you're trying to stop Midoriya from becoming a hero on the basis of not having a quirk. Midoriya was already a victim of discrimination back at his middle school. He was the primary victim in the Alderada Middle School Scandal."
Shota gave no change in expression at that, causing Nemuri to push his buttons.
"Does this mean nothing to you? Sure, life is unfair, but it's our job to protect others and try to prevent that! Oboro would be sad-"
"I'm trying to prevent another Oboro!" shouted Shota, causing Nemuri to stall, "Even if he is strong, the moment he's in over his head, he might lose his life. I refuse to send a student out to his death. Our job can lead us into life and death situations more often than any other job. Even with his training, without a quirk, he's at a disadvantage, something villains will ruthlessly exploit. Better to have his dream crushed and still live than to die a fool's dream. If I have to be ruthless and rude, then so shall it be."
With that, Shota stomped away, wanting to get the upcoming lecture over with while hoping to convince Nezu to stop his foolish plan.
"Oh Shotal," sighed Nemuri, "While it is slightly admirable that you want to prevent that, you don't realize that you're spitting on Oboro's own dreams and beliefs. Oboro was never one to crush a person's dream like you're doing. In fact, he would've found Midoriya's dream to be admirable and encouraged him if he was still alive. You're projecting too much from Oboro's death onto students each year, and you're doing it viciously onto Midoriya. Oboro would be rolling in his grave at what you're doing. You've become a hypocrite without realizing it."
