Chapter 10: Chaos Unleashed Part II
"FEROCIOUS FIRESTORM!" Ruby roared as her Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo unleashed a stream of golden fire at Blake, who stood petrified as she was about to take 4,000 points of damage.
"BLAKE!" Yang cried out in fright.
"If I lose this….I'll lose Ruby forever!" Blake thought with a grimace. She wanted to do something, but as she looked at her hand she couldn't see anything with an ability, and the cards Ruby sent to her graveyard with Card Destruction couldn't save her either. This was it.
As the bright light of the fire stream began sting her eyes, Blake winced as she closed them shut tightly, accepting her fate with great reluctance. In that moment, she saw it; countless memories with Ruby she cherished. Their first day at school redecorating their dorm (Blake hiding a snicker as Weiss complained about the crude rope hanging their bunk beds up), Ruby and Blake reading together in their pajama's hero stories, and even their first duel with Ruby childishly pouting as she lost. Now Blake felt that same frustration as she felt she failed her friend horribly.
"I'm sorry Ruby." She whispered. Suddenly her cat ears perked up as a sharper yell then Yang's pierced her ears, awakening her.
"I activate Effect Veiler's special ability!" Weiss yelled as she held out a glowing card to all but Ruby's surprise. "By sending it to the graveyard your Disaster Leo loses its fangs and claws this round so Blake doesn't take any damage." Weiss retorted as she sent the card to the grave, a blue haired angel appearing before Blake as it summoned a wall of light, shielding her from the flames before her.
She let out a massive sigh of relief with Yang.
"Thanks Weiss." Blake said gratefully with a sigh. Her heart was racing at her near death experience.
"You rock Weissy!" Yang cheered with a thumbs up making the heiress rub her nose proudly.
They all froze as they heard a sinister chuckle, soon Ruby got their undivided attention as she hunched over, laughing wildly at the display.
"Oh that's so like you Weissy, always putting a stop to me when I'm having fun." Ruby sighed after she wiped a tear of strain away to her partners annoyance.
"Fun?! You almost killed Blake! What's wrong with you!?" Weiss yelled and her friends nodded. They winced as Ruby fixed them a cruel angry stare.
"What's wrong….is that I didn't succeed." Ruby said coldly to her teams horror.
"Why so surprised? I said this was a duel to decide the fate of everyone, myself, you girls…and your precious Remnant." Ruby said with a scowl.
"W-What do you mean Rubes?" Yang asked fearfully, dreading the answer. Ruby simply raised a finger to the sky as her Disaster Leo's massive ball of energy it was connected too glowed as it pulses like a heart beating.
"My Lion's mad you deprived him of dinner, so we're gonna take a bite out of the planet instead." Ruby said. Soon Disaster Leo roared, unleashing a ball of fire that shot into the sky, soon exploding into tiny meteors that rained down upon the nearby area, decimating the surrounding cities with explosions to her teammates shock.
"What are you doing Ruby!?" Yang roared.
"Unleashing Chaos. My Chaos Planet lets my beast have full dominion on this world. Any exertion of their power will cause destruction and pain." Ruby said deadpanned to her teams anger as they scowled at her.
"What kind of monster have you become!? Why do all this!?" Blake yelled at her.
Soon Ruby fixed them a maniacal smile that made them recoil.
"Don't worry kitty! Everything will be reborn from the ashes! Look!" Ruby pointed to the now charred city. Her team looked aghast as they could smell the ash and death plaguing the city despite being miles away. Soon a purple light emitted from the ground around the area to their surprise.
"What's she doing?" Weiss asked, but her teammates had no clue.
"Reviving from the ashes." Ruby said joyfully as soon the city was replaced with a few small oak trees sprouting, soon growing to near full size. "I will remake this world to be brighter with the numeron codes power." Ruby said.
"Huh? But you don't have it. You said you'd get it after our duel?" Blake retorted.
"Oh, I don't need to get it right now to use its power." Ruby sang with a cheerful, creepy smile with her eyes closed.
Realization dawned on the girls as they recoiled in fright.
"You didn't need to find it. You already got it! When you played your field spell!" Weiss yelled in horror.
"Ding! Ding! Ding! Weiss gets it right as usual! When I played Chaos Planet it merged with Remnant, giving my Chaos Numbers and I full reign over the world. So naturally we are connected to the Numeron code even if its hidden. I could even summon Exodia on my next turn if I wanted, like with this-" Ruby said darkly as her hand glowed a reddish light to her teammates shock, Yang gulping as she heard this decree.
"I activate XYZ Treasure, now since there are 5 Xyz Monsters on my field I get to draw 5 new cards, and with Chaos draw I'm guaranteed whatever I want." Ruby chuckled.
"Y-You wouldn't dare just end it right here! Where's the sport in that!?" Yang whined in protest.
Ruby formed a small frown as she heard that, pausing her attempt to touch her deck.
Soon she just flashes a cocky grin as she gripped the top card.
"CHAOS DRAW!" WBY paused their breathing as they heard that declaration, fearing this was it. We're they about to be obliterated!
Soon Ruby burst out laughing again, landing on her back as she childishly kicked the air in amusement.
"Sis?" Yang asked in surprise, unnerved by her sisters chaotic behavior under the influence of those two spirits in her.
"Sorry. Just couldn't help it. Love those looks on your faces. You took me seriously for once?" Ruby sighed sarcastically as she sat up, fixing Weiss a raised eyebrow to her surprise.
"I place 3 cards face-down and end my turn. Hey Weissy! Yang wasn't the only one right, it's a real pain you always put me down because if not for Effect Veiler, since Disaster Leo has no Overlay unit at the end of my turn…you would have all lost automatically." Ruby said cheerfully then deadpanned at the last spot as her eyes glowed black momentarily.
"Wait…then that means-" Blake says in shock.
"Yup! If you girls can't destroy Leo on your turns then I win next round. Oh and due to Chaos Planets effect you can't destroy my Chaos monsters with card effects, only battle." Ruby explained cheerfully as she puffed her chest proudly to their surprise.
"But, Numbers can only be defeated by number monsters." Yang whispered.
"That's right, which means theirs not a card in your deck that can stop me now. And even if you did get rid of Leo somehow I have 4 other Chaos Numbers much stronger than him remember?" Ruby gloated as she pointed to her army of Chaos Numbers, Heart Earth, Heraldry, Utopia Ray Victory, and Dark Storm. Their mere presence unnerving WBY even more than their leaders declaration.
Yang gulped as she shakily reached for her card. "W-Well then. Guess its time then." Yang said, Ruby snickered as she heard the fear in her voice, but soon bit her lip in frustration feeling this from Yang of all people.
"Come on Sis. I can't fight Chaos's power alone. You need to be brave if I am to rest." Ruby thought firmly, hopeful her sister could do better than she did against Zorc and the creator of lights influence and strength.
"Time to give up?" Ruby asked.
"No…time to fight!" Yang roared as she drew. As she looked at her hand she smiled. "Weiss, okay if I piggyback off your cards?" Yang asked and Weiss nodded.
"What's mine is yours." She said confidently.
"In that case I play Monster Reborn to bring Effect Veiler back to my field. Then I summon, Bone Archfiend in attack mode!" Yang declared as the blue haired angel and a skeleton demon emerged onto her field, sidestepping Chaos Planets dark and light only restriction. "Then I activate Bone archfiends ability to send Vision Resonator to the grave, which not only lets me lower Bone's level by 1, but thanks to that Resonator in the grave I get to add "Scarlet Securty" to my hand." Yang said confidently as she flashed the card at her sister tauntingly.
"So. She thinks she can burn up my world? Sorry sis, but your waking your kid sister up from dreamland this way." Ruby thought bitterly.
"Hey thanks for making cool rules for this duel Ruby! Now I can tune my level 1 effect Veiler with my level 3 Bone Archfiend and Blake's level 4 Lunalight Tiger. Now from the ancient chasms of a lost world I awake a great and terrible power. I SYNCHRO SUMMON! Rise! Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend!" Yang chants as out of a fireball of those 3 monsters come a demonic red dragon encased in flames that encircle its right arm as it bellows.
"There it is." Ruby sneers. "Here's your avatar."
"Yup, and scarlight being on the field lets me roast all your spells and traps thanks to the spell scarlet security so-" Yang declares as she plays the card, but Ruby cuts her off.
"I activate Heart Earth Chaos Dragon's ability." Ruby interrupts.
"Say what? On my turn?" Yang asks in shock and Ruby nods.
"I told you I control this world, Chaos Planet lets me use my Chaos Numbers effects during your turn, like this one. By using 1 chaos overlay unit my dragon switches to defense mode and wipes out the special abilities of all cards currently on your field till next turn." Ruby explained as her dragon unleashed a stream of red and purple flames that encase Yang's dragon and spell, burning up the latter and making the former's fire douse, turning its skin pale and purple.
"You won't get rid of Chaos Planet so easy sis." Ruby countered.
"Then I'll just BBQ Leo then! You stopped one spell but not this one. When I attack with Red Dragon I can activate Absolute power force, now my dragon can negate any monsters effect it battles, and any monsters in defense get removed from play." Yang yells confidently as her dragon turns red again charging with a stream of fire in its arm as it roasts Heart Earth Chaos Dragon and charges for Leo.
"YEAH! ROAST HER YANG!" Blake cheered and Weiss's eyes beamed.
"Nice job, but my other Chaos Numbers are gonna have to douse your dragons spirits. Whenever you target one of my cards with an effect or attack Heraldry Crest of Horror can automatically obliterate all your cards on the field. Bye Bye archfiend!" Ruby countered.
Yang just smirked.
"I banish the Red Armor trap from my grave to save my dragon from that, thanks for Card Destruction sis!" Yang yells as a shield of fire encases Archfiend, saving it from a red lightning bolt Heraldry crest shoots out.
"Not bad, but thanks to Chaos Planets effect, its my choice who you attack and I choose, Heraldry Crest and I use its ability to use a chaos overlay unit to gain ATK equal to Archfiends!" Ruby explains.
"It what!?" Yang says in shock as Heraldry crest shoots out some tendons that stab Archfiends chest, forcing it to change direction to it and zaps energy from it, raising its ATK to 7000.
"7000 ATK!?" Weiss and Blake yell, knowing if it hits Yang will lose in one shot just like Blake almost did.
"I send Brutal Red to the grave from my hand to give Red another 1000 ATK and save it from destruction this turn!" Yang yells panickly as Red Dragon's ATK rises to 4000. As it and Heraldry collide, the shockwave knocking Yang back as her Aura lowers to 1000 to her teammates concern as they run up to check on her, gasping as they see burns on her arms and smoke flowing off her clothes.
"These wounds…their real! The damage is real just like with Salem." Weiss gasps.
Yang winces as she struggles to lift her heavy head, needing Blake to support her up.
"I got yah." Blake said quietly.
"Do you got anything else Yang." Ruby asked confidently.
"J-Just a face-down. Your up Weiss." Yang groaned as she set her card, huffing as she did so.
"That attack. It was real. Ruby's really playing for keeps huh?" Yang thought bitterly. No longer could she see the pure smile of her sister as they played in childhood, all she saw was a cold witch like Salem standing before her smirking.
Yang shook her head defiantly.
"NO! Don't think that Yang. Ruby's in there somewhere, hopefully Weiss shocks her out." Yang fervently thought.
Weiss could almost read her mind as she saw the turmoil on her face.
"I won't either of them down. Brace yourself Ruby." Weiss whispered as she drew.
"Now. I gotta get rid of Disaster Leo first, but Chaos World lets her choose the attack targets once per turn. I can't even kill them in battle which means it will beat us on Ruby's next turn. T-Then…. so what then! What should I….wait…that's it!" Weiss thought as she examined her hand.
"I Summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue in ATK mode, then I play the spell, Majesty with Eyes of Blue, this lets me target it to summon a Blue-Eyes using its ability in exchange for not attacking with her, all I gotta do is send Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon to the grave from the deck, so Rise, Blue Eyes!" Weiss declares as she summons her Dragon with 3000 ATK.
"So what, your sisters dragon isn't anything compared to Disaster Leo." Ruby mockingly points out.
"Not by itself, but you taught me Ruby to rely on friends too. Some my dragon's gonna rely on its. I activate the spell Legacy with Eyes of Blue, it lets me remove Shining Dragon from the grave to give Blue eyes its effect. GO SHINING NOVA, DESTROY CHAOS PLANET!" Weiss declares as Blue eyes becomes encased by the spirit of Shining Dragon and Winter, who charged for the field spell, cracking a red barrier glowing around the duel area.
"F-Fine! But due to Heraldry crests effect, all your cards and Yang's are gone!" Ruby counters as her XYZ monster destroys with a blast of red lightning the cards on Yang and Weiss's field.
"Yang just smirks in response.
"I activate Dragon kings awakening. You let me when you destroyed it while face-down, which lets me summon Red Supernova Dragon to Weiss's field in ATK mode." Yang declares as she summons a red demonic dragon to Weiss's field with 4000 ATK, which Yang explains rises by the number of Tuners in their graves by 500. Since they explain they have 8 it gains 4000 ATK. "Then I play the spell Dragon's fighting spirit to let it attack twice this turn. Say goodbye to Utopia Ray Victory and your Aura Ruby!" Weiss declares as her dragon charges up an inferno to tackle the knight with.
"I activate Utopia Ray Victory's special ability, now by using an Overlay Unit it negates any spells or traps you try to activate in battle and it gains Supernova's attack points raising it to 10,800 ATK points!" Ruby declares.
"I activate Supernova's ability Ruby! It now removes itself and your cards from play!" Yang counters.
"I then activate Dark Storms ability to use a Chaos Overlay unit to negate your dragon's ability before it can activate and reduce its ATK to zero with your Aura once my warrior is done with it!" Ruby counters.
"I send Red Gardna to the grave to protect my Dragon from that effect. So say goodbye to your cards Rubes!" Yang protests as she flips the bird with her red gardna card she sends, protecting Red Supernova with a red shield.
"Then I guess I have to get down and dirty, I activate my trap card Rank-Up supreme, so I choose my set Hyper Rank-Up Magic Ultimate Force and activate it at the cost of losing Aura equal to any XYZ monster I summon, and I Rainbow Life for good measure. Now by discarding a card I gain Aura instead. Here's how this is going to work, before I lose everything, Utopia Ray Victory will Rank up into a light XYZ monster with an even higher Rank, Hyper XYZ Evolution! Number 99 UTOPIC DRAGON!"
Ruby declares as a dragon with white energy exuding from its wings with 4000 ATK Emerges. "And due to Rank up Extreme it doesn't get banished or destroyed once per turn unlike my other cards." Ruby explains as her cards are banished. "Now thanks to Rainbow life I gain Utopic dragons ATK as Aura." Ruby says as she breaths a sigh of relief having her aura rise from 4000 to 8000.
"Finally, by using one overlay unit, I can resurrect an XYZ monster in my graveyard, return Number 39: Utopia!" Ruby announces as she summons the warrior back in defense mode.
"Damn it! Just when we got rid of her forces she gets 2 powerhouses back! Overkill much?" Yang gripes.
"I know. Its really heavy and we still haven't made a dent in her yet." Blake groans.
"Then its time I did more than dent her. I activate the spell Blue Eyes Ultimate Fusion! I return my Blue eyes that's banished along with the 2 in my grave you sent Ruby back into my deck and summon a fusion Blue eyes, but it can't attack this turn. I fusion summon! They say 2 heads are better than one but how about 3? Come forth Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon!" Weiss yells as she summons a white dragon with 3 heads and blue eyes with a lightning bolt crest mark on its foreheads with 4500 ATK.
"Love how flashy you can be Weissy, but it can't attack so what now?" Ruby asked mockingly.
"Special effect time, and mine lets it automatically destroy 3 of your cards like Utopia and Utopic dragon, Triple Neutron blast attack!" Weiss declares, but Ruby laughs to WBY's fright, it was not a good sign as the energy streams of white lightning struck her monsters.
"You just totally nuked yourself with that Weissy, with Utopic Dragon's ability, not only does it get to stay on the field, but all other monsters get destroyed and you girls take damage equal to their ATK points." Ruby explained.
"Yeah well, Ultimate Dragon can't be destroyed by card effects so where all fine." Weiss argues, before she gasps as she realizes something once a dark cloud hovers over them, or more specifically Yang.
"True, but utopia isn't safe, and it has more than enough ATK points to wipe Yang out, good job partner you always did help get my clingy sister off me." Ruby snickered, but Blake could see a faint tear forming in her eye, knowing she wasn't the one truly speaking.
"Zorc…Salem…you monsters! How could you make her do this!" Blake tearfully thought as she spewed tears from her eyes, seeing thunderbolts strike Utopia, the explosion it creates rocking them all back, but they are forced to watch Utopic Dragon fire a stream of yellow energy at Yang in addition, reducing her Aura to 0 and theirs to 1500.
"YANG!" Everyone, even Ruby yell in fright as her sister soon closes her eyes in solemn defeat. Her body beginning to glow.
Despite the pain of their scrapes and burns, Weiss and Blake crawl over to her, trying to see if they could save her despite knowing the futility of it. Yang sensed their presence, shedding a tear of sorrow and smiling as she felt a strange warmth in their presence despite failing to beat her sister.
"Girls….please, save Ruby for me." Yang sighs as her body fades in a glow of light, heading towards a tearful Ruby to Blake and Weiss sobbing terror.
"No! Don't go!" They screamed as Yang's spirit flowed into Ruby, or rather her hair as her eyes began shining white and black respectively.
"Chaos….I love this power, but I hate the costs. Oh well….at least-" Ruby whispered as she clenched her fists in frustration. She hated how the gods of light and darkness demanded the soul of her sister to strengthen them for battle, actually having been impressed with their opponents power and strategy, wanting it for themselves. But all Ruby wanted was this to be over, for the pain to be washed away by another hug from Yang. Soon, as if hearing her wishes, she felt a fire similar to Yang's erupt in her head, her hair began to glow yellow, growing exponentially to it reached her shins like hers. "At least my sister can be by my side for the rest of eternity now." Ruby sighed.
"She…really absorbed Yang." Weiss whispered in shock, unsure if what she was really happening.
"Y-Yeah. And if we don't beat Ruby, we can't save either of them." Blake fearfully stuttered.
"Yup. Question is, can you?" Ruby called out to them bitterly, her black eye shimmering red like Yang's.
Featured duel: WBY vs Ruby Rose Part 2
Ruby 4000 Aura
WBY 4000 Aura.
TURN 1: Ruby Rose: Duel continues where it left off. Ruby 1 card in hand has Numbers C96: Dark Storm, C92: Heart Earth Chaos Dragon, C88: Gimmick Puppet Disaster Leo, and C39 Utopia Ray Victory all in ATK mode. She has Chaos Planet field spell in play. Blake has Lunalight Tiger in DEF on the field.
Ruby has just attempted to inflict 4000 Aura damage to Blake with Leo's effect, but Weiss discards Effect Veiler to negate Leo's effects this turn. Ruby activates XYZ Treasure to draw a card for Every XYZ Monster on the field. She draws 5 cards.
Ruby performs Chaos Draw. Ruby sets 3 cards and ends.
Turn 2: Yang Xiao Long
Yang draws. Yang plays Monster Reborn to special summon Weiss's Effect Veiler in DEF. She then summons Bone Archfiend in ATK and sends Vision Resonator from her deck to decrease its level by 1 (Bone Archfiend level 4 – 3). Yang adds Scarlet Security to her hand via Vision's effect since it has red dragon archfiend in the text. Yang tunes Weiss's Effect Veiler to Blake's Lunalight Tiger and her Bone Archfiend to Synchro Summon Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend (3000 ATK). Yang attempts to play Scarlet security to destroy all of Ruby's spells and traps since Red's on the field, but Ruby chains by activating Heart Earth Chaos Dragon's effect, revealing she can use CHAOS numbers effects on her opponents turn using Chaos Overlay Units via Chaos Planets effect. She switches Heart Earth to defense mode and negates all spells, traps, and monster effects currently on Yang's field until the end phase so Scarlet Security is negated and destroyed.
Yang activates Absolute Powerforce to allow Scarlight to banish all defense position monsters it attack and negate any monster abilities of monsters it battles during damage calculation. Scarlight attacks Disaster Leo, banishing Heart Earth Chaos Dragon. Ruby uses another effect of Chaos Planet to let her choose the attack target on her side once per turn. She chooses Heraldry Crest who uses its first ability to destroy all Yang's cards when a card she controls is targeted for an attack or effect.
Yang banishes the trap Red Armor from her graveyard to negate Red Dragon's destruction once per turn.
Ruby activates Heraldry crest of horrors effect to use a chaos overlay unit and gain Scarlights ATK (Heraldry 4000 ATK – 7000) Yang sends Brutal red to her grave to give Scarlight 1000 ATK until the end phase and save it from destruction. (Yang Aura 4000 – 1000).
Yang sets a card and end. (Heraldry crest 7000 – 4000 ATK, Scarlight 4000 – 3000 ATK).
Turn 3: Weiss Schnee
Weiss draws and summons Maiden with Eyes of blue in ATK (Level 1 0/0 ATK DEF). She targets her with Majesty with Eyes of blue and sends Blue Eyes shining dragon to the grave to prevent Maiden from attacking. Since Maiden was targeted Weiss gets to special summon via its effect Blue-Eyes White Dragon from her deck (Level 8 3000 ATK).
Weiss activates Legacy with Eyes of Blue to remove Shining Dragon and give its anime effects to Blue Eyes this turn. Blue eyes activates its effect to tribute itself and destroy Chaos Planet.
Heraldry Crest of Horror destroys all other cards on WBY's field.
Yang's set Dragon Kings Awakening trap activates since it was destroyed, allowing her to special summon Red Supernova Dragon ignoring its summoning requirements (Level 12/4000 ATK – 8000 ATK). It has 500 extra ATK per tuner in WBY'S grave (8).
Supernova attacks Utopia Ray Victory. Ruby uses 1 Overlay unit to gain its ATK and prevent WBY using spells or traps during battle (Utopia Ray Victory 2800 – 10800 ATK).
Yang activates Supernova's effect to attempt to banish it along with all of Ruby's cards. Ruby attempts to negate it with Dark Storms effect but Yang activates Red Gardna and discards it to negate this targeting effect.
Ruby plays her set cards Rank-Up Supreme to allow her to use a normal Rank-Up Spell from her hand or set as a quickplay spell but must take damage this turn if she summons an XYZ monster with it who cannot be destroyed or banished once per turn. She chains with Rainbow life and discards Black-Luster Soldier Envoy of the Beginning to pay the cost and then activates Hyper Rank Up Magic Ultimate Force to Rank up Xyz Evolution Utopia Ray Victory into Number 99: Utopic Dragon (Rank 10: 4000 ATK). All of Ruby's other cards are banished. Ruby gains Aura via Rainbow Lifes effect (4000 – 8000 Aura).
Utopic Dragon uses 1 overlay unit and special summons a Number Xyz from the graveyard, she chooses Number 39: Utopia (Rank 4 2500 ATK/2000 DEF) in DEF mode.
Weiss activates Blue Eyes Ultimate Fusion to send from her banished zone and graveyard 2 Blue-Eyes white Dragons and 1 Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon back to the deck and fusion summon but the fused monster cannot attack this turn.
Weiss fusions summons Blue Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon (Level 12/4500 ATK). Once per turn she can target 1 card, 3 cards instead of 1 if she used Alternative white to fusion summon with, on Ruby's field to destroy in exchange for not attacking with it. Weiss targets Utopia and Utopic Dragon, but since an effect targets Utopic Dragon to make it leave the field, its effect activates once per turn to negate that and destroy all other monsters on the field and inflict WBY damage equal to their combined ATK points.
Alternative cannot be destroyed by card effect. Utopia is destroyed so WBY take 2500 Damage (Blake 4000 – 1500 Aura, Weiss 4000 – 1500 Aura, Yang 1000 – 0 Aura).
Yang loses. Ruby absorbs Yang's soul via Gods of light and darkness powers evolving into Golden Ruby.
