Chapter 10: Leaving Cyberspace

A.N.5. Well, my friends, here we are. We've reached the end of our grand adventure. We all know why we're here, so let's get right into it and see how our heroes resolve their last two issues.

Soon, the Autobots and the Cybersquad had made it back to the site of the crashed Retro Comet, and Wheeljack was hard at work fixing her up both inside and out, with everyone, including Optimus and the Cybersquad, lending a helping hand. With this many hands helping, fixing the ship was pretty much a breeze, especially since Retroblast and his crew had already done a majority of the work. It wasn't long before the Retro Comet had been fully restored to her former glory.

"And I think that should do it." said Wheeljack. "Retroblast, would you like to do the honors?"

"But of course, Wheeljack." nodded Retroblast.

Retroblast then went over to the flight controls and pressed the "Ignition" button. In almost an instant, the Retro Comet's engines roared to life.

"Alright!" cheered Retroblast. "We're back in business, boys!"

"But let's not start celebrating just yet." said Matt. "There's still Motherboard to worry about."

"I have just the thing for that." said Wheeljack.

Wheeljack then held up a flash drive with the Autobot insignia on it.

"I developed a counter-virus that should take care of Motherboard." he explained.

"Let's hope it does." said Digit.

And so, with Optimus, Wheeljack, and the Aerialbots following in their shuttle, Retroblast, his crew, and the Cybersquad flew off to Control Central in the Retro Comet. They soon arrived, and led Wheeljack to Motherboard's control panel. Wheeljack then handed the flash drive to Digit, who plugged it in. It wasn't long before Motherboard's screen came back on and, after a brief loading phase, Motherboard herself appeared on the screen. Digit smiled widely when he saw Motherboard.

"Mother-B, you're back!" he grinned.

"Welcome back, Motherboard." said Matt.

"Thank you, Matt." smiled Motherboard. "You too, Digit."

Just then, Motherboard noticed the presence of Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, and the Aerialbots.

"I see you brought some friends with you this time." she said.

"Indeed we did." said Jazz.

Motherboard then looked at Optimus.

"Optimus Prime, I presume?" she greeted.

"Correct." nodded Optimus.

"It is both a pleasure and an honor to meet you at last." Motherboard went on.

"The honor is mine, Motherboard." Optimus replied humbly.

"Well, I don't know about you guys, but I think a celebration is in order." said Digit. "How about it?"

Matt, Inez, Jackie, and Retroblast agreed. Retroblast then looked at Optimus.

"Permission to stay and partake in the celebration, sir?" he asked.

Optimus nodded.

"Permission granted." he said. "Despite the numerous setbacks, you still succeeded in your mission. Therefore, you deserve to have some fun. Wheeljack, the Aerialbots, and myself will return to Cybertron with the Requiem Blaster."

"Thank you, Prime." said Retroblast.

With that, Optimus, Wheeljack, and the Aerialbots bid goodbye and left onboard their shuttle. As he watched the shuttle fly off into space, Retroblast got an idea. He gathered his fellow Autobots in a huddle and began communicating with them in hushed voices.

"What do you boys say we give Matt and the others a performance they'll never forget?" Retroblast suggested.

It didn't take long for the others to catch on to what Retroblast was proposing, and they readily agreed. Needless to say, the Cybersquad were confused as to what was being discussed between their Cybertronian allies.

"What are they talking about?" asked Jackie.

"I have no idea, Jax." shrugged Digit. "But I have a feeling we'll find out sooner or later."

He was soon proven right, because that that moment, Retroblast and the other Autobots came over to the Cybersquad.

"Okay, guys, we're gonna let you all in on a little secret." said Retroblast.

Quite some time later, the Cybersquad, along with many of their friends they had made on a lot of their past adventures, were in the local park in the urban cybersite Botlyn, where a big party was being held to celebrate Motherboard's restoration. A stage had been set up along with the other party decorations. Matt, Inez, and Jackie were talking to their friends Slider, a Cyborg from the cybersite Radopolis, and Fluff, a penguin from the cybersite Penguia.

"What do you think this "surprise" your new friends mentioned is?" asked Slider.

Although they had already been informed of the surprise beforehand, the Cybersquad were told to pretend to be oblivious, although to their friends, they seemed genuine.

"We're not sure." said Matt.

"Well, whatever it is, I bet it's gonna be something awesome." said Fluff.

Just then, Digit came onto the stage and tapped on a microphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and borgs of all ages!" he began. "Presenting, for the very first time in Cyberspace, Retro-B & The Boogie Bots!"

As Digit said that, the curtain on the stage went up, and everyone watched in awe as Retroblast and his buddies, who were all wearing Cybertronian-sized headset microphones, walked up onto the stage. This was followed by Blaster pushing his "Play" button, and before anybody knew it, the Bots began dancing an expertly choreographed dance while singing a modified extended version of the theme song for Cyberchase, which went something like this:

[Retroblast]

Cyberchase, we're rolling

We're beating Hacker and Starscream

Don't tell me that they're trying to take over Cyberspace

We'll get them in the end

[Bumblebee]

Decepticons!

[Hot Rod]

Freaky robots that we fight!

[Retroblast, Bumblebee, and Hot Rod]

We've got the power!

Of two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve!

Rollin' with the Autobots

We'll give it all we've got

We'll stick together all the time

[Blaster, Eject, and Rewind]

Transformers in Cyberspace

The chase is on!

Just wait and C-Y-B-E-R-chase!

[Jazz and Cliffjumper]

Cyberchase

We've got the power!

[Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, and Hound]

Freaky robots that we fight

The chase is on!

Twelve, ten, eight, six, four, two!

[All]

Rollin' with the Autobots

We'll give it all we've got

We'll stick together all the time

Transformers in Cyberspace

The chase is on!

Just wait and C-Y-B-E-R-chase!

As they sung the last line, the Bots struck a pose, then stood upright and bowed as the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. Retroblast then spoke into his headset.

"Thank you, thank you!" he said. "Fun fact about that little number; we actually did the choreography ourselves."

"And I did all the mixing." added Blaster.

"In fact, Blaster here is the one in charge of mixing all the beats he plays to our songs." finished Bumblebee. "Just like on this next track!"

As Bumblebee said that, Blaster began playing a karaoke track of "YMCA" by The Village People, and Retroblast encouraged everyone in the audience, including the Cybersquad, to sing along and do the corresponding moves during the chorus. The Bots continued to dazzle the audience with their song-and-dance routine all throughout the night. The day after the celebration, it was time for the Cybersquad to bid farewell to their new friends from Cybertron.

"Well, Retroblast, this is it." said Digit. "Thank you so much for all of you guys' help with getting Motherboard back up and running."

"Right back at you, Didge." agreed Retroblast. "Alright, Autobots, to the Retro Comet!"

"Hold on there." Motherboard interjected. "Before you Autobots leave, allow me to give you a little parting gift."

Motherboard then materialized nine Cybertronian-sized Skwak Pads, one for each of the Autobots. As a special touch, they even had the Autobot insignia on the back.

"Wow!" gasped Bumblebee. "Our own Skwak Pads!"

"That was my idea." said Digit. "So now, you guys can talk to us anytime you want to."

"Thanks, little buddy." said Hot Rod. "We'll make sure we put these to good use."

"That we will." added Retroblast.

Retroblast and his fellow Autobots bid a final goodbye to the Cybersquad as they boarded the Retro Comet and took off, waving to their new friends from the cockpit viewscreen as the ship soared off into space. Matt and his friends watched them disappear out of a portal generated by Motherboard.

"Man, was that a great adventure or was that a great adventure?" asked Matt.

"It sure was, Matty." agreed Digit.

"Do you think we'll get to see them in person again?" asked Inez.

"I don't know." said Jackie. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see if we do."

Back on the Retro Comet, as Retroblast and his friends continued to cruise across the stars back to Cybertron, they had a similar conversation.

"Those "Cybersquad" kids were sure a cool bunch." said Cliffjumper. "I'm so glad they were able to help us get the Requiem Blaster back."

"You got that right." agreed Sideswipe. "By the way, Cliffjumper, I don't think I've told you this yet, but I'm sorry for snapping at you the way I did."

"Hey, don't worry about it, man." said Cliffjumper. "Water under the bridge. Plus, to be honest, now that I think about it, I guess I did deserve it a little, because looking back, I should have shared my idea to eject the Requiem Blaster from the ship with you guys first."

"It's okay, Cliff." said Jazz. "Besides, everything worked out in the end."

"So true." nodded Hound.

Eventually, they arrived back at Cybertron, and landed in a docking bay where a pink female Autobot was waiting for them. The female Autobot went by the name Arcee, and she happened to be Retroblast's partner. She smiled as she watched Retroblast and his crew disembark and went over to him.

"Oh, Retroblast!" Arcee said as she embraced her lover. "Thank Primus you're alright! Optimus told me where you guys were!"

"He did, huh?" asked Retroblast. "Glad to hear it."

"And boy, Arcee, you're not gonna believe what we've been through." said Bumblebee.

"Yeah, something tells me I'm in for quite a story." agreed Arcee.

"You sure are." confirmed Retroblast. "How about we all talk about this over a pint at Maccadam's?"

His fellow Autobots agreed, and they transformed into vehicle mode and drove off for Maccadam's Old Oil House, a popular drinking establishment on Cybertron, eager to share with Arcee all the details about their time in Cyberspace.

The End
