Eventual Morning
By SMYGO4EVA
It hadn't stopped raining for quite some time.
Kurapika sat on the couch, letting his surroundings sink in. He heard the rain outside the apartment, he felt the clean clothes he wore, and he knew Leorio was sitting beside him.
They didn't speak, not for a while, anyway. It was all such a blur, the days felt like months, years, a millennium, but it had come to pass.
The Phantom Troupe were no more, and the Succession War was over.
Exhaustion seeped into Kurapika, and he was just so tired.
He avenged his clan.
But…
"Why don't I feel any different?" Kurapika asked aloud.
"Hm?"
"I've done it, I brought the Spiders to justice, I made sure to bring peace to my clan, and I even secured the new heir to the Kakin Empire." Kurapika spoke, his voice weary and questioning.
He turned to face Leorio, who listened with his full attention.
"So why don't I feel any different? I should be happy, sad, or even, I..I just don't know."
Leorio blinked, and he let out a sigh. "I'm not sure, Kurapika, I don't have any answers, and even if I did, whatever I say might not make you feel any better."
Kurapika let his words sink in, and he just shifted so he could be closer to Leorio.
"So, what can I do?"
Leorio thought, and then he gently wrapped an arm around Kurapika, pulling him closer. "You can start by letting people in, and then you can move forward."
Kurapika didn't even flinch, nor did he protest being so close to him, to anyone.
"I guess so, we can do that." He replied, placing his head on Leorio's shoulder, closing his eyes.
Leorio nodded. "Yeah, we can."
Tiredness overtook Kurapika, and with Leorio, he knew he could finally rest.
