It was 8:00 AM when Tangle woke up the next morning. As she sat up in the bed, she immediately noticed this wasn't her home in Spiral Hill. Where am I? She immediately wondered. She looked around for a phone, spotting one across the room.

She tried to grab it with her tail…only for absolutely nothing to happen. She tried even harder, still nothing. This horrified Tangle, Did Eggman cut off my tail?! Is it just numb? She felt where her tail should meet the rest of her body, and noticed there was a tail there, it was just short and pointy. That's my tail? What's going on?!

She then got out of bed and noticed something else especially weird, Why am I naked?! She then looked down at her belly, noticing a bare oval and blue fur where her chest/belly should be. Time to see a mirror! After that she immediately ran to the closest mirror, overshot it by running into a wall, and fell to the ground.

"Oof, how am I so fast?!" She asked, noticing a vaguely familiar lower pitch voice not her own coming from her speaking. "Wait, am I really…?" As she got up and walked to the mirror, it was confirmed. "Sonic! But how?!" She then thought about it,This was not the wake up routine I expected this morning. However… She then grew excited,"I'm really Sonic! It's time for a run!"

She proceeded to leave the room, entering Tails' lab. Tails, noticing, asked, "Morning Sonic, you really slept in after last night. How are you feeling after that shock?"

Tangle thought, Should I tell him?…Nah."I'm feeling fine, Tails, I've dealt with worse. Just going for a stroll!"

Tails figured as much, "Of course. But, don't you want to eat first?"

Tangle was embarrassed, "Oh, right. I should probably do that!"

She then rummaged through Tail's pantry, coming upon some cereal. As she poured some milk, Tails took a seat and prepared the same. "Sonic, what happened to you last night?"

Tangle tried to act natural, "Last thing I remember was touching that meteor with S-TANGLE. Shockingly, it was quite unpleasant. Would not recommend."

Tails gave a courtesy laugh, "You do know I had rubber gloves for you and Tangle to wear, right?"

Tangle was mentally facepalming at the mention, "Uh...That was an oopsy. But what did you expect, I wait for no one!" She declared, trying her best to emulate Sonic.

Tails facepalmed, "Indeed you don't, even at times you really should…"

Tangle reassured, "Cmon, have my instincts ever failed us?"

Tails snarked, "Do you want a list?"

Tangle grinned, realizing a chance to learn more about Sonic, "Do your worst!"

Tails then began, "How about the time you rushed at Eggman in space and let him split the planet apart. Or when you rushed in to challenge Infinite and got yourself captured. I also heard from Whisper that you and Tangle charged mindlessly into Eggperial City and got her team stuck in a ghost-like state."

Tangle mused, "Oh yeah. Good times, good times…"

Tails noted the choice of words, "You seem nonchalant about all that."

Tangle bluffed, "Tails, we still won in the end, does it matter?"

Tails sighed, "...I guess not."

Tangle then got up, "Oh, that hit the spot Tails. Thanks for letting me sleep here and eat. Now I need to get home."

Tails raised an eyebrow, "I thought you didn't have a home."

Tangle realized her error and desperately tried to correct it, "Oh, right, uh, I think that rock scrambled my brain a bit. A good run should fix it! Catch you later, Tails!"

Tails waved goodbye, "You got it Sonic!"

Now outside, Tangle started to get giddy with her pupils becoming stars, Oh my gosh! I'm Sonic! That means I can run really fast! In fact… She immediately started speeding down the road. This is so cool, It's like I'm a lightnin-

But in her giddiness, she missed a turn and hit a tree at full force. Tangle was dazed, before shaking her head. Hmmmm…Guess I should be more careful…Oh, who am I kidding!

Tangle proceeded to continue running, occasionally hitting many more trees and other objects as she began on her way around the island. After a few more instances of joyous running and occasional blunt-force trauma, Tangle had another thought, Wonder what Sonic's doing as-? As she ran into a building.

Amy awoke that morning eager to help. She had been walking for a while when she was called by Sticks. "Hey Sticks."

Sticks said, "Amy, a meteor landed near Spiral Hill and Sonic got knocked out along with that lemur. I think it swapped their bodies!"

Amy, knowing Sticks well enough to doubt her, just asked, "That seems far-fetched even for you. How did you conclude that?"

Sticks answered, "It just seemed familiar. I'm also going to find that secret GUN base I read about online. Talk to you later!"

Amy just rolled her eyes, "Goodbye Sticks. Send a photo if you do." And so she continued on to Tails' place.

As she was getting to the town before Tails' home, she noticed Sonic had run into a building. Stunned, Amy ran over to attend to his injuries. As she got over, Sonic was beginning to stand up (Really? I had to meet Amy like this?), stating, "Oh, hi Amy. Fancy meeting you here."

Amy raised an eyebrow, "I wouldn't call running into a building 'fancy'."

Sonic giggled, "You got me there. I'm just going for a run."

Amy narrowed her eyes, "Are you ever not?"

Sonic grinned awkwardly (That does sound like Sonic all right.), "Brutal this morning, are we Amy?"

Amy then got serious, "What's weird isn't you running, it's hitting things. Care to explain?"

Sonic sweats (Can't she give me a break?), "I got shocked badly last night, Amy. Cut me some slack."

Amy then stared, "I know, that's why I'm headed to Tails. I'll help him pick up that meteor."

Sonic breathed a sigh of relief, "Have fun with that... You're not mad at me, are you?"

Amy sweetly smiled, "Oh, I can't stay mad at you. Just hope you'll be more careful."

Sonic winked back, "You got it Amy. See you around!" He then sped off to other parts of the island.

Amy continued her walk to Tails, which took another 30 minutes. Upon Amy's arrival, Tails opened the door, revealing Amy. Tails greeted her, "Hi Amy."

Amy replied, "Good morning Tails. We can talk on the flight over. Let's get going."

Tails nodded and they boarded the Tornado.

Tangle was back on the road again. That was weird. She noted. She had many more incidents of hitting trees and breaking branches on her way around. She did run into one rather hard, "Ouch. I guess that was still too fast."

Tangle was continuing to run, getting through one town mostly unscathed. She was impressed by that, though it was at a much more manageable pace.

After this, Tangle came across a wide chasm. Now I have a chance to really test Sonic's abilities! She tried running as fast as possible before jumping, but she came up just short of the ledge. Fortunately, there was a river below. Wow, that was lucky.

She then floated down the river. As she did, she passed by Big, who was fishing in the river. Big tilted his head, "Sonic, is that you?"

Tangle gave a thumbs up, "Guess my name precedes me. How's it going uhhhh…"

"Big", the cat answered.

Tangle answered, "Big, of course!" She then swam to shore. Wow I'm wet, maybe I could try shaking off some water. She proceeded to try it, spraying Big nearby.

Big laughed, "Thank you Sonic, I needed to cool off."

Tangle couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not, "Oh, you're welcome?"

Big then got back to fishing, asking, "But when did you learn how to swim, Sonic?"

Tangle froze in place, Crap, I forgot that Sonic can't swim! She answered, "I took some swimming lessons."

Big glared at Tangle for a bit before shrugging, "Okay. See you later Sonic."

Tangle then finished, "See you later Big!"

As Tangle left, a badger had been watching from behind a bush, ambushing her, "There you are, you lemur in a hedgehog's body."

Tangle was panicking, Who is this girl, and how is she nailing me this hard? Tangle tried to be smooth, but it was obvious how nervous she was, "That's a bold claim, ma'am. You…uh…gonna substantiate that bonkers claim?"

Sticks knew how to press it perfectly, "Then where did you learn how to swim?"

Tangle sweat profusely, "As I told Big, I took some swimming lessons."

Sticks wasn't convinced, "Nope, not buying it. Sonic wore a life jacket to the Olympics for crying out loud! If he didn't take swimming lessons for that, why would he now?!"

Tangle sighed in defeat, "You're right."

Sticks grinned wide, "As I always am. I don't think we've met. I'm Amy's friend, Sticks the Badger." She then stuck out her hand to be shaken.

Tangle stuck out her hand to meet it, "Tangle the Lemur…or Hedgehog, I guess."

Sticks grinned, "I saw you and Sonic touch that meteor last night. Is it awkward being in a man's body?"

Tangle thought about it, "You know, that is weird…Eh, I'm fine. I can likely pass as Sonic. You're not going to tell, are you?"

Sticks respected her declaration, "Nope, I can keep a secret. But, would you like to help me find a hidden GUN base!"

Tangle scratched the back of her head, "As fun as that sounds, not my kind of trouble. But, best of luck to you!"

Sticks was disappointed, but respected the decision, "I understand. Hope we meet again!"

Tangle waved goodbye as she ran. "Wow, that Badger is good! I should hang out with her sometime." Unfortunately, due to being distracted, she quickly found herself hitting yet another building.

Cream was on a stroll with her mother, her companion chao Cheese, and Gemerl when they all saw Sonic crash into the side of the local market. Cream, shocked, ran over to check on Sonic, "Mr. Sonic, are you alright?"

Sonic, dazed, spouted, "Ugh, Lanolin, why are you such a spoil-sport? I'm sure Whisper will-"

Cheese was very confused, as was Cream as she then touched the dazed hedgehog, which snapped him out of it (Dang it, what was this girl's name again? How does Sonic remember the names of so many friends?), "Wha who, oh, hi there uh…"

Cream answered, "Cream. You rarely forget names, Sonic. What is going on?"

Sonic sweat profusely and explained with a huge fake grin, "I must have hit too many trees today…Did I just say that out loud? But, sorry Cream, I gotta get going. Uh…Tangle wanted to hang out with me. Yeah. See you later!" He then dashed out of town, hitting a light pole. "I meant to do that!" He insisted.

Cheese shouted at Sonic as he left, but Cream was too busy squeeing at the revelation to question it further. Does that mean Mr. Sonic finally found a girlfriend? Then Cream's enthusiasm was interrupted by a feeling of dread for her other idol Amy. She is not going to be happy about that…Or will she? Guess I'd better tell Amy when we get home.

Vanilla then shouted for Cream, "Cream, we need to get back to shopping."

Cream smiled, "Coming mom!" And so they got back to their errands and strolled through town.

Earlier that day…

During the flight in the Tornado, Tails made sure Amy put on his rubber gloves. Amy saw Sonic running in the distance before hitting a tree. She would have told Tails, but dismissed it as the mysterious powerful nature of the gem made it a higher priority. Also, she didn't want to embarrass Sonic. As they arrived at the rock's location, they found a very sleepy Whisper. Tails noticed and asked, "Whisper! Have you been guarding that Meteorite all night?!"

Whisper, struggling to stay awake, reacted with surprise. "Wha, Mimic you'd better not…Oh, it's just you two. But yes. It knocked out the strongest people I know. I refuse to leave it unattended."

Amy responded, "Thank you Whisper. We can take it from here."

Whisper smiled, "You're welcome. I need to sleep before my dinner with Tangle later."

Amy replied, "You deserve it. Hope it goes well!" Amy picked up the rock and held it on the flight back.

On the flight back, Amy and Tails were discussing it. "This thing must be very strong to knock out Sonic and Tangle at the same time." Amy asked.

Tails analyzed it, "That's why it's good we found it before anyone else. I need to understand its power before Eggman gets to it."

In the distance, a drone had spotted Amy and Tails, eavesdropping on that discussion...
