Six days after the circus date, Leonidas and Lucinda were currently in the library where Leonidas was personally teaching Lucinda some of what Shad taught him thinking she needed it. At one point, Zelda came into the room.
"Leonidas, Lucinda, There's something you must know," said Zelda with a concerned look, "I got a letter from a friend in Kakariko Village saying that both the village and the Goron settlement on Death Mountain are under attack from monsters known as dodongos." "I'm going to send a portion of knights to take care of them and I would like you both to join them since this is a matter that needs the royal family personally but I'm too busy with other duties."
"We understand Mother," replied Leonidas, "We'll join the knights right away."
"Before that," said Zelda, "I have some things I wish to give you both." "Please follow me to the castle entrance."
Zelda then guided Leonidas and Lucinda to the entrance of the castle where the couple saw two brown horses.
"You mean to say we get to have our own horses now Queen Zelda," asked Lucinda.
"Well this isn't the type of thing where you should go by carriage," explained Zelda, "Also I have also provided for you both your own sets of armor, swords, shields and bows." General Ashei has them and she's waiting for you."
Leonidas and Lucinda then went to the knight's hall where Ashei was waiting. Once there, she gave them the things they were going to use and changed into their new armor.
"This feels heavy," said Lucinda once she was wearing her new silver armor," At least I feel good wearing it."
"You also look good in it," complimented Leonidas wearing his new golden armor," "Anyway, we should join the knights and head for Kakariko Village."
Leonidas and Lucinda then went back to the castle entrance, got on their new horses and went with the knights Zelda assigned for the mission to Kakariko.
After a while of fast riding, Leonidas, Lucinda and the knights arrived at Kakariko Village where they saw Dodongos everywhere burning things and chasing people who were trying to escape the fire.
"This seems more dire than I expected," said Leonidas, taking command, "Everyone do whatever you can to put out the flames, rescue the citizens and fight the dodongos."
The knights then drew their weapons and went to do as ordered. At that time Lucinda started things by taking on two dodongos that she saw attacking an important looking house. When the dodongos noticed her they tried to attack her only for her to dodge their flames and cut them at their tails which killed them both.
"It really feels good to use a real sword," said Lucinda to herself before seeing if anyone was in the house, "Is anyone in here?" "It's not safe, you must escape if you can."
"Thank you," said a grown woman who seemed important to the village, "Can I please ask you to help my son?" "He's injured and I can't help him alone."
Lucinda then helped the woman with making sure a boy who seemed half her age was safe.
Meanwhile Leonidas was defending the bomb shop from four dodongos knowing that if it got blasted, a huge explosion would happen. Knowing the weakness of the dodongos he grabbed a bomb from inside the shop and threw it at the nearest dodongo who swallowed it and died from its explosion. Leonidas then cut the tails of the remaining three dodongos while they were distracted by the one that had just died from the bomb.
"Thanks for protecting my shop," thanked the shop owner who came out, "Though you're going to have to pay for the bomb you just used."
"Actually I'll pay for thirty bombs plus the one I used," said Leonidas while grabbing his wallet, "I think I'll need them."
After a while, many dodongos were slain and their fires were put out while the remaining dodongos retreated to Death Mountain.
"This isn't over yet," said Leonidas to the knights and the citizens of Kakariko, "There's still Death Mountain that needs rescuing." "The Gorons need our help."
"If you wouldn't mind," said the woman Lucinda rescued, "I'll have the townspeople help you." "Many of them know how to fight though not as well as your knights."
"That would be appreciated, Luda," replied Leonidas, who knew the woman as the leader of Kakariko Village.
With the addition of Kakariko fighters, Leonidas, Lucinda, and their company headed for Death Mountain where they at once saw way more dodongos than they did at Kakariko Village.
"Why are there so many," asked Lucinda while everyone was fighting the dodongos.
"I think there's some type of leader for them," guessed Leonidas, "If we take it down, then that should end this battle and save the Gorons."
"We know where the dodongo leader is," said a Goron who came seemingly out of nowhere rolling toward Leonidas and Lucinda, "I'm Ko the Goron Chief and I had the Gorons search intensely for the leader of the dodongos ever since this mess started." "It's at the peak of Death Mountain." "I'll show you the way."
Ko then led Leonidas and Lucinda to the peak of Death Mountain where the three of them spotted a giant dodongo.
"That looks like a tough enemy," commented Leonidas.
"We still must stop it," said Ko, "I'll roll into it with everything I have and you two take it down while it's distracted."
A second later, Ko rolled at the Dodongo leader with incredible speed. While he collided with it, Leonidas and Lucinds went behind and tried to cut the tail only for it to be harder than the tails of the other dodongos.
"This isn't good," said Lucinda while the leader of the dodongos turned around and noticed who hit its tail.
Just as the dodongo was breathing in preparing to blast fire, Leonidas threw the entire bag he was using to carry the bombs he bought earlier into the dodongo's mouth. The bombs exploded and hurt the Dodongo leader which ended up dying."
"We've gotta run," shouted Ko who had recovered from his attack knowing that a big explosion was a bout to happen.
Ko then rolled away very quickly while Leonidas and Lucinda followed him as fast as they could before the dying dodongo exploded. Once the leader was dead, the remaining dodongos all ended up dead as well.
"Well that was interesting," commented Lucinda after the battle ended, "I didn't think all the dodongos would die once their leader died."
A little later in Kakariko, Luda and Ko spoke with Leonidas and Lucinda thanking them for saving their homes.
"We both thank you for your aid today,' said Luda, "If not for you, so many in both Kakariko and Death Mountain would be dead."
"It was also an honor to have fought beside the prince of Hyrule," said Ko, "I hope to see you again soon."
"I hope that as well," said Leonidas, "I felt honored to fight beside you as well Goron Chief." "Now we should be heading back to Hyrule Castle and report to my mother how things went."
"Take care on your way back," said Luda.
Leonidas, Lucinda, and the knights who accompanied them then left Kakariko Village and went on their way back to the castle with both Leonidas and Lucinda feeling proud to have done their first battle well.
