Ch5

(present day)

Cat Noir punched the gunmen down knocking the wind out of him. The other robbers yelled at each other and began to fire at him. He blocked their bullets with his baton, though even if they landed his suit was bullet proof. "Is that all?" he asked once the bullets stopped firing.

The robbers swore, one of them drew a knife and charged at him while the other two ran. He sighed. "You people never learn."

I'll keep the streets safe from thugs like you. A cruel smile spread across his face as his instincts took control

He lunged at the man holding the knife, he kicked it out of his hand before knocking him to the ground. "Stay down!" He yelled as he grabbed the man's arm and twisted it so hard that the robber began to yell as it broke.

A smile spread across his face as he ran out the room and headed towards where the other robbers were. As he approached the back of the bank two other men opened fire.

This does get old after a while. He used his baton to block the bullets and knocked them both down on the ground unconscious.

After kicking down the back door he found the getaway car along with the remainder of the bank robbers. The men in the car quickly started the engine and began to drive off.

Oh no you don't. Using his baton he leaped in the air. He landed on the roof of the car and in one strong punch broke the windshield of the car and jumped inside.

"Son of a bitch!" the men yelled as the car swerved.

He knocked the man in the passenger seat with a strong punch to the jaw before knocking out the man in the driver's seat.

Great now for the complicated part. He grabbed the unconscious driver and pulled him out of the driver's seat. He quickly moved into the seat and stopped the car just as the sound of police sirens.

He turned to the unconscious bank robbers. "You two hold tight now ok?" He smiled at them before leaping out of the car.

"Everything ok officers?" he asked as the policemen arrested the two men.

"Yes. Thank you for your help Cat Noir," One of them said. "Thank you for all that you do."

"No problem," he said as he grabbed his baton and extended it. "All in a days work."

He vaulted into the sky and continued his patrol. It's so weird to have people look up to me. When Hawkmoth for whatever reason decided to stop akumatizing people a part of him considered giving up on being Cat Noir, yet Paris still had other problems and he intended to keep the city safe. The safer the streets are the safer the people. I hope no one has to suffer like I did.

Taking a deep breath as he rested on a rooftop overlooking the city of Paris. He clenched his heart remembering the good times with Ladybug. I gave her my all, yet all she did was spurn me. That I could live with but she had to kill father and Nathalie like that. His chest tightened as he remembered that day in his head.

Gripping his baton he took a few deep breaths and did a few mental exercises his therapist recommended he do. It's all in the past and where it should stay.

He winced as tears began to form in his eyes. Taking a deep breath he cleaned his eyes. "Father I'm sure you would be proud of me," he said softly as he looked at a billboard advertising some of the clothes he designed. "Our family's business is as strong as ever." If only he could see my upcoming fashion show. His father would be proud of him.

The sound of two figures landing behind him made him go rigid. Turning around he saw Ladybug and Carapace standing behind him. "What is it now?" he asked curtly.

The two superheroes exchanged a nervous look before Ladybug stepped forward. You weren't my lady but you were her right hand. "Long time no see Carapace," he said curtly. Still following Rena Rouge I see.

"Hey Cat Noir," Carapace said carefully holding his shield. "We just wanted to talk." The turtle hero rarely showed up and only for when Rena needed to talk about them.

"About what?"

Rena's eyes betrayed fear as Carapace stood in front of her protectively. "We just want to talk with Adrien Agreste."

His blood boiled. "Well he doesn't want to you," he snapped causing Carapace to raise his shield. "I met with him recently and he still says he wants nothing to do with the so called hero of Paris. Stay away from him less we have trouble," he said as he grabbed his baton and leaped off the building.

Stupid Ladybug Stupid Carapace Stupid Rena Rouge. His blood boiled just thinking of them. Heroes of Paris my ass I want nothing to do with them. His heart ached, he would always miss his father and Nathalie, they were his family and he would always miss them. Father may have been cold and at times mean but he was still my father.

The memories of his past with Ladybug and the slights she gave him poured into his heart. He resisted the urge to hit something. I gave her everything and how did she repay me? Keeping me out of the loop was one thing but killing my family no. I'm glad she is gone. It's better if I don't see her anymore. They were supposed to be partners instead she sort of treated him like a sidekick at times.

He landed in a quiet park and quickly sat down on a bench. It's almost he anniversary of their death. He placed his head in his hands and took a deep breath. I miss you both.

"Hey you ok Cat Noir?"

He shot up in his seat and saw Nathaniel a few feet from him holding a bag of art supplies. "Oh yeah I was just taking a break," he said sitting upright in the bench. "You go out shopping?'

Nathaniel nodded. "Yeah just went to get some art supplies. Are you sure you're ok?"

"I've had a long day," he said as Nathaniel sat on the bench across from him. "How's drawing?"

"Alright," Nathaniel said as he looked up at the sky. "I've been thinking of sharing my artwork on a blog. I'm also working on a comic of mine."

"Cool. I remember hearing you were a good artist in school," he said.

"Th-Thanks," Nathaniel said his face turning slightly red. "I hope to find a career where I can use my art but I know I shouldn't get my hopes up."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Anything is possible. I mean I've had it rough these past few years and manage to keep Paris safe Even without Ladybug." Along with being a model and keeping a company afloat. Granted Felix and Kagami along with their families helped him a lot.

"If you don't mind me asking what happened between you and Ladybug?" Nathaniel asked curiously. "I mean you both used to be a team and now it seems as if you both went your separate ways."

He frowned. "We had complications," he said coldly causing Nathaniel to wince. Looking down at his hand he traced his fingers, just like his therapist recommended. Calm down he didn't have anything to do with it. "We had a personal altercation."

"S-Sorry," Nathaniel said awkwardly.

"It's not your fault," he muttered. "Personally it was a built up of many things. She was starting to hide more and more things from me and I felt as if she were taking advantage of my loyalty to her. It made me feel unwanted."

He sighed and looked up at the sky the bitter memories of the past slowly bubbling up. Despite not knowing Nathaniel well he knew he was a private person. "Then she took something personal from me," he said softly. "Something I don't think I can forgive her for taking from her." He gripped his fists and let out a sigh. "I know Paris cared about her more but I fight and do what I do so that no one can suffer like Adrien Agreste did. Seeing his family murdered like that and Ladybug being hailed as a hero."

He shook his head forcing the bitter feelings down. "He didn't deserve that."

"Well if it's any consolation I think you are a great hero," Nathaniel said avoiding his gaze. "I mean you've helped a lot of people and always protect the city of Paris."

A small smile spread across his face. "Thanks it means a lot. So tell me about this blog of yours?"

"Oh well I hope one day make some money for artwork. Who maybe I could use it as a platform to talk about the issues in Paris," Nathaniel said his face red. "It's all in the early stages, to be honest."

The red head took out his notebook and showed him some pictures he drew. They were of various superheroes and looked decent. "I'm revising one of my comic books to post on there. Hopefully soon I can send them to publishers."

He had to admit the drawings were good Nathaniel had improved his craft greatly since school. "Looks good. I remember Adrien said you were a great artist," he said. "If you ever need a professional model I can model for you if you want." He stood up and struck a pose

Nathaniel shifted in his seat, his face turning slightly red. "I don't want to bother you."

"Oh its no problem I enjoy helping the city," he said. "I still help Adrien Agreste with some errands for him and I'm sure he wouldn't mind me helping you."

True he hadn't spent much time with Nathaniel but it was nice seeing an old classmate from a simpler time.

Nathaniel looked at him and nodded. "If it isn't too much trouble I don't mind. Frankly I could use some new inspiration. One day I want my comics to become famous."

"Well I'm sure you can do it if you plan it right," he said as he turned to look up at the stars. "Start small and work hard. I'm sure you'll achieve your dream."

Nathaniel's face reddened. "Th-Thanks. I hope one day the world can appreciate my artwork."

"Well anything is possible with the right help," he said as he got up. "Anyway I better get going. It was nice talking with you."

Nathaniel nodded. "Likewise. Thank you Cat Noir." The red head paused. "Oh I don't know if he remembers me still but can you tell Adrien I said hi?"

He nodded and grabbed his baton. "Sure I'll let him know."

Nathaniel looked at him and nodded. "Thanks for all that you do for the city."

He vaulted into the city, the streets bustling with people. Thanks for all that you do for the city. Nathaniel's words echoed in his head. He knew Nathaniel was a reserved guy but he was glad for the small conversation.

You know I haven't spoken to Nino in a while, I wonder how he is doing. He made a mental note to reach out to his friend. He stood over a rooftop overlooking the city the bright lights down below. Paris. I've work hard to defend you, I'll make sure you are safe.

Nathaniel sighed as he walked up the stairs to his apartment. That was interesting. He didn't expect to have a run in with Paris's hero.

Cat Noir seemed a little more distant than he remembered but the friendliness was still there under the cold exterior.

Still he is pretty cool. Cat Noir had matured physically over the years and seeing him up close made him realize how good looking he was. Afterall that skin tight suit left nothing to the imagination.

When he got to his door he struggled with the key but eventually got the door open. "Man this door is annoying," he muttered as he turned on the light.

"You were gone for a while," said his roommate.

Entering the room he saw Marc sitting in a chair cross armed looking at him with an almost cynical look. "Hey I was just out," he said closing the door.

"Where were you?" Marc asked his arms folded.

"I got caught up drawing things," he sighed. "The park is a great place for inspiration."

"Uh huh," Marc said his brow twitching.

"You don't believe me?" he asked. Why do you have to be like this.

The truth was that their living situation wasn't the most ideal. It took its toll on both of them at times but for whatever reason Marc had become more and more accusatory of him.

Marc got up. "Well I think you should've texted me or something if you were going to be out so long."

"I'm sorry I'll keep that in mind," he said not wanting to get his friend upset.

Marc grinned at him. "Good. Come on show me what you drew."

"Sure give me one moment," He said as he headed towards his room. If only we could get a better place. Sadly finding a good job as an artist and a student wasn't that easy and drawing didn't exactly pay the bills.
