Chapter 1

"Bye Tam" Linh said quietly as the bell rang for lunch to end. Linh was dreading her next Session about as much as she dreaded being with her parents who had always forced Linh to pretend that she and Tam weren't twins. They never played along though. Tam had manifested as a shade a couple weeks beforehand and no one was that surprised. Tam was a very dull and bitter person to about everyone but Linh so being a shade made perfect sense.

As a way to avoid her next class she decided to wander the halls a bit. Foxfire had always amazed her with the glittering buildings that surrounded a huge courtyard. The inside was even more stunning with the beautiful tiled floors and glass walls. The silver towers were restricted to the elite levels only but she was sure they were just as, or maybe even more, stunning as the other buildings.

Linh walked for a while before coming soon the classroom that held her next session. She stared at the closed door for many minutes before deciding to head in to the dreaded class of ability detecting.

Linh lost her train of thought as she entered one of the only class rooms made for more than a mentor and one prodigy. Already the room was filled with years 1,2 and 3 as well as a few year 4 students who had yet to manifest. Linh was currently in year 2 and definitely didn't want to end up talentless which was basically the worst thing that could happen to an elf besides being a bad match.

"Ok prodigies!" Lady Leana said "today we will be testing to see if you manifest as a hydrokinetic!"

"Will everyone please get in a line in order of level," said Sir beloth " year 3 first then 2 and so on,"

Linh was not looking forward to this, especially after noticing the large buckets of cold water placed to the side of the room. However, after starring at the buckets for a while the water almost seemed to be inviting, calling her to it as she got closer and closer to the end of the line.

As each new prodigy stepped up lady Leana grabbed a bucket and dumped it over their head to see if they would react and keep the water suspended above them. So far no one was having any luck and as each new prodigy got soaked Linh found herself at the front of the line.

Sir beloth filled up her bucket and handed it to lady Leana. She could feel Sweat trickling down her forehead.

Well at least ill be cool soon, thought Linh, well probably cold.

Lady Leana stepped up to her, lifted the bucket of cold water over her head, dumped it on,

And,

And,

When no hint of water touched Linh she looked up and found a clear blue ball of water hovering over her head.
