Dragon's Den
Fantasy-Verse
"I can't believe this!" A girl with bobbed-styled brown hair and a pair of permanent blush on her cheeks screams in frustration. She clenches her fist as the map on her hand crumples. "I get that they want to help, but does the king has to be a douche while doing so!?"
This is Ochako Uraraka, a 17-year-old girl who has just finished her 2 years of training as a paladin. She isn't a resident of this world. In reality, she was summoned here from another world.
Before her arrival and her 2 years of training, she was a student who was taking an entrance exam for her high school. And not just a random high school, it's a hero high school, a place where she can learn and train how to be a hero. Sadly, things happened and she got brought into this world.
When she arrives in this world, she thinks that she is dreaming, but she quickly realizes that it's not. When she learns what happens to this world, her heroic spirit doesn't allow her to deny their request, so she accepts to help.
And for two years, she has trained. She absorbs all the knowledge like a sponge and quickly adapts to the situation. She also went to accept help requests from various people.
After 2 years, she was finally allowed to go outside the kingdom and she had a tearful goodbye with her fellow paladins, the priests, the King, and his family. She arrives at the neighboring kingdom and offers her aid.
She realizes that this world isn't as kind as she expects and she already regrets to believe as such.
The king of the neighboring country is nothing but a sniveling little shit who thinks that her being a paladin is a joke, thinking a woman can't do shit. He also believes he can do anything he wants and is cruel to everyone.
She never wanted to punch someone so badly in her life.
Right now, she is doing a mission from the king, slaying a dragon who has terrorized the kingdom for years. Ochako has serious doubts as the kingdom doesn't even look like it is being attacked. Sure, their economic situation is fucked, but it isn't damaged. She even believes that the brat of a king is the one responsible for 'terrorizing' his kingdom.
"I regret doing this..." Ochako sighs. "I miss my old home..." She mutters before she enters the den, pulling out her sword and a collapsible spear. She mutters under her breath as light emits from her sword, giving her a better vision.
As she walks, a green magic circle suddenly appears under her as spiked chains erupt from the ground. She yelps in shock as the chain starts to wrap around her, then stretches her limbs away in 4 different directions and tightens itself as Ochako yells in pain, letting go of her weapons. Then, the chains stop moving, keeping Ochako suspended in the air.
"Oh, great. Another human." Ochako stiffened as she heard the deep voice. She has faced death once before during her entrance exam, where she was crushed by a giant robot while being saved by a green haired boy she saved that day earlier. She shouldn't be scared, but the voice sends a shiver down her spine.
'O-Oh...lord...is this the dragon!?' She panicked. 'I think I may have bit more than I can chew!!!'
"How many have come to my den today? 12? I hope this will be the last one." She can't help but be confused. Did this 'Dragon' sound...tired? He sounds like he's so done with this.
"W-who are you!?" The girl asked as she looked in the direction of where the voice was from. She heard the voice scoffed.
"You barged into my den with no reason, with a weapon enchanted with holy magic, and you have the gall to demand my name like you own this place!?" Okay, if Ochako wasn't scared before, she is now. And now that she thinks about it, that does sound very bad. "Now, tell me, girl, why are you here!?"
"I-I...I was requested by the king...he told me that dragon has terrorized his kingdom!" Ochako stammers as she hears the voice sighs.
"So, my guess was right. Another one." Ochako looks confused. So, there are others before her? "Yes, you're not the only 'mercenaries' sent by that stupid king. What even is there to terrorize?! That place looks like it could crumble by simply me letting out a sigh!"
"Umm..." Ochako yelps when the chain is let loose, falling on her. "Ouch..."
"Now, do me a favor and leave. I rather not see another human barging into my den again." Ochako looks so confused.
"Wait...w-why did you let me go?" Ochako asked.
"...are you secretly a dark witch?" The voice asked, but this time, Ochako noticed it carried a hint of authority and suddenly, she felt her lips loose.
"No." Ochako covers her mouth in shock. "Wait, why did I suddenly answer without struggle?"
"Are you a necromancer?"
"No. Wait, again!?"
"Are you a criminal before taking this job?"
"No. Stop that!!"
"...then I have no reason to kill you." The voice said as Ochako gaped.
"Um..." Ochako mutters.
"What?" The voice asked in an annoyed tone.
"...you're a dragon right?" Ochako blurted out as the voice went silent before she heard a chortle and it turned into full-blown laughter. Suddenly, her surrounding starts to light up as the darkness disappears.
She saw the most beautiful creature in her life. An eastern dragon with shiny jade scales, polished and sharp talons, emerald manes with a green goatee, a pair of whiskers with a color resembling aurora, a pair of crystalized antlers on its back, and a beautiful pair of green eyes.
"Does this answer your question, girl?" Ochako nodded dumbly. "Now that I have answered your silly question, you should take your leave, um..." The dragon rubs his chin. "Oh, right, I never got to know your name."
"I-it's Ochako Uraraka." As she said that, the dragon froze before looking at her in disbelief.
"C-can you repeat that?" The dragon asked. Ochako can't help but be surprised at how the dragon stammers when he ask her a question.
"I'm Ochako Uraraka..." The paladin now looks confused as the dragon widen his eyes.
"...it's you..." The dragon mutters in disbelief.
"Um...do I know you?" Ochako asked.
"...did you remember that day? The day when everything went wrong? Where a green haired boy saved you but was too slow and got crushed by a giant robot?" The dragon asked as the alarm on her head went off and she grabs her weapon, enchants it with holy magic, and points at the dragon.
"How did you know that!?! I never told anyone about it!" Ochako yells as she glares at the dragon.
"Because I'm that boy, Uraraka-san. I'm Izuku Midoriya." The dragon, Izuku, admits.
"...say what now?" Ochako asked dumbly.
"Yup, like you, I got sent into this world." The dragon said before his tail started wagging. "I-I thought I was the only one who got here! 1000 years living in this world and I thought I was the only one! I..." The dragon pauses before he looks away. "You must've hated me, didn't you? For failing to save you...for...for getting us killed..."
Ochako could only stare at the dragon in shock. Of all the things she expected during her adventure, she didn't expect to meet the boy who came and tried to rescue her. And several bombs just drop on her. The boy who tries to save her is now a dragon, has lived for 1000 years, and for all this time, he blames himself for getting them killed.
"I...I don't hate you..." Ochako said. "Y-you're the only one who came to save me when others just...ran off...y-you were there...even if you failed...y-you're still the only one who saved me...f-for that, I'm grateful..."
"...I guess nicknaming you 'Nice Girl' does seem accurate," Izuku said as Ochako looked surprised.
"N-Nice girl!?" Ochako asked.
"Well...I didn't get your name before and...that's the only thing I could think of you after you save me from falling." The dragon said. Ochako stares at the dragon before she chuckles.
"I...I didn't expect to see you again...but, what do you mean by 1000 years? I only got here 2 years ago." The dragon looks at Ochako before rubbing his chin.
"Time travel? That's the only explanation I could think of. But why? Why the massive age difference? This is weird. There must be a proper explanation for this. Unless whoever did this was just doing it for fun, maybe..." The dragon starts muttering as runes come out of his mouth. Ochako can't help but giggle, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Ah...sorry about that. I thought I had grown out of that habit 784 years ago." Izuku said sheepishly as Ochako choked at the number of years, but she remembered Izuku was now 1000 years old.
"I-it's fine..." Ochako said before she looked at Izuku. "So...why have you not returned home yet? 1000 of years and you must've found a way to return?"
"...sadly, despite all the amount of magic I have learned, created, and taught, none has successfully been able to create rifts between this world and our world. And let's not forget that we died in our world, Uraraka. Even if we were able to return...how long has passed there since we died? I'm sorry Uraraka." Ochako felt her body go numb as she dropped her weapon and collapsed.
"Y-you mean...I-I can't see Ma and Pa...?" Ochako mutters as tears escape her eyes. Izuku looks guilty and gently nudges his nose onto Ochako, who simply wept, knowing that she can't return back home.
