Jax didn't see this coming.
He was just walking down the street, minding his own business, when out of nowhere, this girl comes up to him. She looks like a bunny, like he does. They have the same ears and everything! Except he doesn't think it's a coincidence. It couldn't be.
"Hey there, Jax!" The girl said. "I'm Bonnibel. Nice to meet you."
Jax didn't know what to say. He wasn't sure how he felt about this whole thing. His stomach was doing backflips, his heart raced, and heat rose to his lilac face, creating a semi-pink tint to it. Was this what love felt like?
Bonnibel noticed his expression. "Something wrong, Jax? You seem nervous."
He tried to clear his throat, but nothing came out. What could he say? He wanted her to find him attractive, but if she did, he had to look animatronic-y. Like a robot, not a cute animal. That's why he was so confused about this whole situation. How could this girl possibly find him attractive in his current state?
Bonnibel must've seen right through him. "Are you okay, Jax? Do I need to take you to the hospital or something?"
"No! No, I'm fine. Just, uh..." Jax scratched at his head as he looked away from her. "I guess I'm just not used to talking to people."
Bonnibel laughed softly. "Well, that makes two of us, then."
They both stood in silence for a moment before Jax broke it. "So, uh...what brings you here today, Bonnibel?"
"Oh, I was just taking a walk around town when I saw you standing over there. I thought maybe we could hang out or something."
Jax smiled, relieved that she seemed to like him despite his current state. "That sounds great. I'd love to hang out with you sometime."
"Really? That would be awesome!" Bonnibel said excitedly. "We can go get some coffee or something later if you want."
"Yeah, sure. That sounds good."
"Great! Well, let me know when you want to hang out again and I'll give you my number."
"Okay, sounds good. Thanks, Bonnibel."
As they parted ways, Jax couldn't help but feel a little more confident about himself now that he knew someone liked him despite his current state. Maybe things weren't so bad after all.
Later that night, Jax found himself laying on his bed thinking about what happened earlier that day. He couldn't believe that this girl actually liked him despite his current state. Maybe things weren't as bad as it seems. As long as Caine, Pomni, Zooble, Gangle, Kinger, or Ragatha didn't find out, everything's going to be okay.
Suddenly, Jax heard a knock on his door. "Who is it?" he asked groggily.
"It's me, Bonnibel. Can I come in?"
"Sure," Jax replied as he got up and opened the door for her.
"Hey there, Jax. Sorry if I woke you up. I just wanted to stop by and talk to you about something."
"That's okay," Jax said as he invited her inside. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Well, I was thinking about our conversation earlier today and I realized something...I don't really know much about you yet. We only met briefly earlier today and I'm already asking you out on a date. That's kind of weird, isn't it?"
Jax nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I guess it is. But it's okay, I understand where you're coming from. We barely know each other after all."
"I'm glad you understand," Bonnibel said with a smile. "But still, I feel like there should be more to our relationship than just a first date."
Jax thought about this for a moment before speaking up. "Well, what if we started off as friends instead? That way, we can get to know each other better before deciding whether or not we want to start dating."
Bonnibel considered this idea for a moment before nodding in agreement. "That sounds fair enough to me. So, do you wanna hang out as friends sometime soon?"
"Of course!" Jax exclaimed with excitement. "When do you want to do it?"
"How about tomorrow afternoon? Does that work for you?"
"Tomorrow afternoon sounds perfect!" Jax said happily.
With that, Bonnibel gave him a quick hug goodbye and headed back home. As Jax watched her leave, he couldn't help but feel happy knowing that things were finally starting. As long as he didn't collapse, he's going to be fine.
