It was very quiet inside of that car.
So quiet it was honestly unnerving.
Gosha was not used for their car rides to be like that. The old Komodo dragon was used to have talking, singing and laughter on their car rides.
However, it seems that this was no longer the case.
The singing and laughter seemed to have become a rare commodity, and even talking was sparse and in between, and all that there was left now was a heavy silence as the distance had been growing recently.
Ever since what happened to Leano.
"Thank you for giving me a ride, Gosha-san." Said the animal on the backseat, mercifully breaking the silence. "Mom told me to thank you for doing this, and she apologizes for causing trouble."
"Oh, don't mention it, Jack." Gosha said to the twelve-year-old Labrador sitting in there as he looked at him through the rearview mirror. "I know your parents would have liked to be able to drop you off themselves, but they cannot because of their jobs. It is not their fault, and it is not a problem at all. I mean, I had to drop Legoshi as well, so I might as well do you this favor."
As he said that, he ventured to look to the side, at the other twelve-year-old sitting on the passenger's seat.
The little wolf with bluish-grey fur and a cream-colored face. He was looking at the window of the car, not looking at the Komodo, and not really saying anything.
"So, Legoshi, anxious about your first day on your new school?" Gosha asked. He was trying to use the fact that Jack already started talking to try and break the silence. However, his attempt was met with silence, as Legoshi said nothing.
He just continued to look through the window of the car, at the moving landscape outside.
"Well, I am anxious about our first day!" Jack said, trying to ease the tension, which was once more growing. "I mean, it is Cherryton Academy! It is the one place where everyone goes to learn to be a master! This is just so cool!"
Jack then leaned forward, passing his head through the gap between the front seats so he could talk directly to Legoshi.
"Come on, Goshi!" Jack said, referring to his wolf friend by the nickname, which was very similar to Gosha's own name. "Don't tell me you are not excited! I mean, I am super excited! We will finally have proper lessons and learn to master our skills! It will be even cooler than getting Gosha to give us lessons! I bet we will learn to do the more amazing things! And you will be able to make even more amazing things than me, because you are so cool! Oh, show me that one! The one with the colorful little things! Remember? The one you said you were training so you could show Gosha! Show it, please?"
Jack was looking at Legoshi for a while, and the wolf slowly turned his head to look at his dog friend, who was looking back at him with those wide, begging eyes.
After a few moments, Legoshi sighed, and he placed his hands together.
Luckily, this was the moment when they had stopped by a red light, and then Gosha was able to look back at his grandson to see what he was doing.
He saw as Legoshi focused, and he could see clearly his forearms and hands being enveloped into an iridescent luminosity. He never got over how bright and vivid his little grandson's aura was, and how Legoshi was able to direct it with the kind of control and precision that Gosha himself had taken years to get right and could not until he was on his late teens.
This just showed how talented the little wolf was in using nen.
His aura gathered in between his hands. Soon, something was happening, as the space between the wolf's hands have been filling with small, colorful dots, and the sound of buzzing could be heard filling the car as those dots became more and more numerous.
Mosquitoes.
Small mosquitos, each one of a bright, vivid coloration that you would not find in any other mosquito in nature. They were materializing from the very air, created by Legoshi's aura, and they remained near his hands.
With a flex of his fingers, the mosquitoes started to move between his hands, until they formed an image. It was a tree. The green mosquitoes formed the leaves on the top of the tree. The brown ones formed the bark, and a couple red ones gathered into small circular forms on the tip of the miniature tree simulacrum, looking like small apples.
It was pretty sketchy, like a finger-painting done by a toddler. Quite lame, by adult standards. At least, it would be, was not for the fact that Legoshi was doing it through the most unusual way and showing to be able to do it with an easiness that would surprise even experienced nen users.
"Legoshi, that's amazing!" Gosha said to his grandson, who simply said a "thanks", before lowering his hands. As he did, the flow of aura that he had been channeling through his hands. As a result, the mosquitoes only remained for a few more seconds, before quickly disintegrating into the air as the source of energy that kept them existing was gone.
Once more, the car went back to that silence.
That unnerving silence that was so oppressive to Gosha, especially considering how happy and talkative his grandson was just a few months ago.
Before it happened.
Before their lives got shattered on such a terrible way.
All because of that man.
Gosha swallowed immediately, not allowing for venom to build up on his mouth as he focused his mind on driving, all so he could keep himself of thinking about him.
About the man who ruined his daughter and, consequently, their whole family.
Soon, they were arriving.
"Okay, here we are." Gosha said as he parked by the school where his grandson would be enrolled for the next six years. "Have a good time, there Legoshi, and behave. Love-"
However, the wolf barely gave him any attention. He just closed the door after stepping out of the car, leaving the words that Gosha was trying to tell him unfinished.
The Komodo could only look at the door through which his grandson left for a few seconds, before looking down.
"Thanks again, Gosha-san." Jack said, as he too made his way out of the vehicle, closing the door as he left.
This meant that now Gosha was all alone on the car.
He just needs time... Gosha thought to himself, as he started the car once more. Just some time away from all of it. Just some time to process what happened, then he will start being that bright and happy wolf again. Just gotta give him some space to heal. He will come around... I hope.
As Gosha drove away into his car, Jack was rushing to catch up with his friend, who was walking with his head down as they continued their way. As they walked, Jack talked to Legoshi, once more telling how it will be amazing being in place like Cherryton, and how they will be able to learn all they can about using their nen, and how they will come out of there as real masters, like the famous nen users their hear about on the news all the time, like the beastars.
He was saying all those things to try and cheer the wolf up as they walked, but he failed to realize that they had the opposite effect. The wolf looked more down-crested as Jack continued to go on about the many things they could do once they graduated, and how they could become both famous and help people their own way and be an inspiration for everyone who knew them.
I don't want any of that... Legoshi thought. I don't want to be famous...
They eventually made their way into the school, and they were soon gathering with a lot of other carnivore boys and girls, all of which were received by a pair of female adults, a mandrill and a gorilla, both of which were the housemothers of the carnivore male and female dorms.
This was a thing about Cherryton, as, while being an inclusive institution that gave the students the taste of a genuine, non-segregated social school life, it still separated their carnivore and herbivore students into different dorms. To "reduce stress levels due to the presence of different species groups", as they said. They even divided the kids by species according to their respective dorms.
Jack and Legoshi, as two canines, where guided to one of the canine dorms. Room 701, which they would be sharing with four other canines: a coyote, a hyena, an English shepherd and a fennec fox.
They were all placed in there by the mandrill housemother, who told them some basic rules and gave them all their uniforms, instructing them to change and then show to the auditorium, as the new students would all be given a formal introduction to the school by their headmaster.
Legoshi and Jack both took in the orders, and they, along with their new roommates, were changing their clothes from what they were wearing to the uniforms they were given. The uniform consisted into white shirts with long sleeves, indigo vests, dark-grey ties (which Legoshi needed Jack's help to figure out how to tie properly), pants with vertical stripes in two shades of gray, and brown loafers. The uniform also included a green blazer with the school's crest in it, but they decided they didn't need to wear it, since the housemother said that they only needed to wear it in extremely formal situations. It was basically an optional accessory for most part.
With that in mind, the six of them left the room, and they had to walk around the school a bit to find the auditorium. The place was huge!
As they arrive there, they see a bunch of other students, all of them around the same age as them, were already gathered in there. Carnivores and herbivores. Boys and girls. All of them were taking a seat and waiting, and so did the boys of 701 (they would be referring to themselves as such for the years to come), and they waited.
They only had to wait around two minutes before the lights dimmed just slightly, and two adults, a tiger with a scar on his face and a very tall rabbit, made their way into the stage.
"Welcome." The tiger said, speaking into a mic to allow all the students on the auditorium to hear his voice. "It is a pleasure to receive all of you, promising young students into our academy. I am Gon, the headmaster of this institution, and it is a tradition for me to personally welcome all of the new students of Cherryton academy on their first year, as well as to explain to them the purpose of our institution."
Everyone paid close attention to the tiger, as he continued to explain to the children gathered into the auditorium, giving them a brief history lesson:
"A hundred years ago, herbivores and carnivores waged war on each other. It was a war motivated by many factors, from pure prejudice to justified resentment. It was a great war in which many believed that the outcome would determine the future of our world forever. Well, they were partially right."
"Near the end of the war..." Gon proceeded. "The herbivores caught word of something. The carnivores had a plan. Something they were bringing to the war that would put an end to it and give them the victory. They would emerge victorious of the Carni-Herbi War and, to the herbivores, this was a very bad thing."
Now, some of the presents knew why the herbivores thought that the victory of the carnivores would be a bad thing, while others didn't exactly grasp it. Gon, on his end, decided to leave the reason unsaid, and only continued:
"Fearful for their future if the carnivores won the war, the herbivores decided to use their own ace on the hole. It was a stone chest, made of dark obsidian and found by them on an ancient temple in a recently discovered excavation site. No one knew how old it was, or who built it, but the obsidian box had engravings in it, which glowed in a light as red as blood. Those engravings were a warning on a language that, until that moment, was unknown, and that was only deciphered thanks to the tablets found on another temple, which translated the unknown language into ancient Herbis. The inscriptions on the chest read: 'Beware the one who opens this chest, for the power of the ancients lies dormant in it. Do not release the lock upon this power, least the fate of the world is hanging on the balance, for the power locked in this chest will forever change the world as you know it.'. And, well, back on the day, the idea of the carnivores being the winners of the war meant, for the herbivores of the time, that the future of the world was hanging in the balance. So, they decided that, for the shake of their future, they needed to open the lock on the chest and unlock whatever power it was that was locked inside of it."
"As soon as the chest was unlocked, the world changed." Gon said to them. "On the moment the chest opened, a pillar of light rose from it and reached all the ways to the sky, and every single animal of the world felt a shiver run through their bodies, as if their very instincts were telling them that the world was changing."
"As soon as it ended, however, it seemed that nothing had happened. For days, nothing changed. The herbivores were starting to think that the chest had been nothing more than an ancient hoax." Gon said on the mic. "However, that was when the herbivores noticed the change. Some among them had started to acquire strange abilities. They could increase the power of their bodies. Some could hold the elements themselves and use nature as a weapon. Some could materialize weapons from thin air. Some could even sway other animals and control them to do their bidding. Those and more abilities manifested in a selected few of the herbivores."
"The herbivores were in jubilation. They realized that this was the power promised by the writings on the chest. The power that would change the world. The power that would allow them to defeat the carnivores and create a new future where they would never have to feel afraid or subjugated by them again. The herbivores then marched, with the ones holding those supernatural abilities leading their troops for their final stand against the carnivores." Gon said. "They didn't realize that those powers were not limited to their own kin. Some of the carnivores had also acquired those special powers."
As he said that, Gon lifted his hand. It started to glow, as the tiger channeled the power of his aura through it.
"It took us years to understand what those powers truly were, and we still do not understand them completely." He said, as he opened his hand, and then, the aura that he had accumulated on his first materialized on the palm of his hand as a ball of orangish-yellow energy, which emitted a strong light that every single one of the young students on the auditorium could see in the dim light of the room. "This energy is us. This is the power that comes from our very souls. A power that, while not harnessed by all, is present on all living beings. The power of life itself, which manifests as our aura, and is controlled by our mental fortitude and made to obey our will. Over the years, it was called by many names, from 'divine gift' to 'mystery', and even simply as 'magic', but today we know this power simply as 'nen'."
He held the sphere of pure aura on his hand for a few more moments, before allowing the energy he accumulated to harmlessly dissipate into the air, and then he resumed talking:
"A hundred years ago, when the power of nen was just introduced to the world, and the herbivores and carnivores who held this power took part in the war, the world changed forever. What came next is remembered as the most destructive battle ever registered. Never before or since has such destruction and massacre taken place, with heavy losses on both sides. Eventually, the two sides realized that, if they did not stop the war, then both would lose."
"From that day onward, a compromise was made." Gon said, "A compromise by the surviving holders of this new power to keep peace. To not go into conflict as to not repeat the bloodshed caused by an all-out war between nen users. The ones between them who had this power would be taken under the wings of the older ones and would be taught to control their abilities and to only use them for the benefit of the world, and to create a better future for all of our society. And this, young boys and girls, is the purpose of Cherryton Academy."
"This place was established to be a learning institution where nen users, such as yourselves, will learn all you need to be able to master your abilities and use them for the betterment of our society." Gon said, looking across his many students gathered into the auditorium. "We will help you achieve your full potential and become all you can be. This is our sacred duty, given to us by those who came before us, and our responsibility as the older generation of nen uses. We will help you all achieve your full potential."
"All of us?" Someone from the auditorium, a weasel, said as he stood up. "Because I heard that some of us might come out of here with no nen skills at all!"
A murmur passed by the crowd, as Gon looked at the weasel who had just spoke, and then back at the other students.
He then ventured to look to his side, at the bunny who walked into the stage with him. While Headmaster Gon was dressed formally, wearing a suit and a tie for the occasion, the bunny, who was nearly as tall as the tiger (making him a giant for regular bunnies), was dressed in a much more casual manner, with blue shirt, a red sleeveless jacket, jeans pants ripped at the knees, sneakers and a pair of aviator googles on his head.
The bunny looked back at the tiger, and then he sighed. Without any warning, he reached forward and picked the mic Gon had been using, and held it to his mouth as he spoke, making sure his voice would be heard:
"I'm not gonna lie, this is a possibility."
The words of the bunny silenced the murmur, as everyone now had their eyes on him.
"My name is Kazma, and I have been a teacher here for a while." The bunny said to them. "And let me tell you, I already seen cases like that. I must remind you all that all of you have been invited to this institution because you are all potential nen users. Each one of you have been tracked by our best dowsers, animals with advanced nen-detection skills, which have all tracked you down as potential holders of nen. As a result, all of you were invited to join our school and be taught the secrets of nen. However, that is not to say that all of you will awaken your nen skills. Not everyone does. So, there is a chance that a few of you may leave Cherryton Academy without ever awakening and developing any nen skills."
Another wave of murmurs followed the bunny's words, and Gon looked his way, his gaze telling the bunny not to say things that would make the students uncomfortable.
"But, those cases were rare and in between." Kazma said, "Cherryton does, after all, has a lot of professionals who know how to teaching, myself included." The bunny looked on the auditorium. "It is a matter of personal pride for us to make sure each one of you awakens your latent nen potential and learn how to use it by the time you graduate and join society. That said, your time will not only be dedicated to simply trying to awake your nen. You will also have lectures on more common subjects, like math and science. This is, after all, a school. We even have afterschool clubs available for the students that you are free to join at your own discretion. So, in the off-chance that you don't develop any nen skill and leave the school as a non-user, then at least you won't have completely wasted your time, and will still be able to go to college and get a job no problems."
Once more, Gon was reminded that Kazma was not exactly the best orator. The white rabbit was far too blunt in moments like that, and he didn't have the care needed when talking to other people. But still, he was probably the best nen and martial arts instructor they had on Cherryton.
"However, some of you don't need to worry about it." Kazma said, as the bunny stood over the edge of the stage, and he looked at two particular animals on the audience.
"Because you have already awakened your nen abilities."
As he said that, a flashlight shone from somewhere, right over two canines sitting on the front row. Legoshi and Jack were surprised, especially when the rabbit asked the two of them to stand up.
"You two are a rare example." Kazma said, looking at the two of them with his red eyes as he spoke on the mic. "You both have awakened your nen abilities all by yourselves. An impressive feat, especially at such a young age."
The dogs could only look back at the rabbit. Legoshi, on his end, lowered his head right after.
Everyone was looking at him.
"You are Jack, right?" The rabbit asked, looking at the Labrador. "You are an enhancer, ain't that correct?"
Jack was still a bit surprised, but he recovered, and then he said, loud enough for the rabbit to hear:
"Yessir! I am! I can make other animals stronger by saying encouraging words to them! I call it 'Dog Support', sir!"
"Interesting..." Kazma said, and then he turned his gaze at the wolf. "And Legoshi, right? A conjurer?"
Legoshi flinched a bit. He continued to look down, now wanting to disappear at that very moment. He could feel the rabbit's eyes on him...
"Yes, that is right, sir!" Once more, it was Jack who spoke. "Legoshi can create nen beasts that look like bugs! Sorry, is that he is shy when in public!"
The rabbit continued to look at the two at them for a few moments, before nodding and saying that they could sit.
As the two canines did sit, Legoshi still looking like he wanted to be swallowed by the earth and never be seen again, there was someone else looking at them as he was sitting directly behind the wolf, this one was a tiger.
"Excuse me!" The tiger said, getting to his feet. "How are you going to help us awaken our nen potential?"
Kazma looked at the tiger, and then he said:
"Through meditation techniques and arduous training, like we have done for a long time. That is how you are supposed to do it. That is, unless you are willing to put yourself into a dangerous situation in hopes that the extreme physical and emotional stress would trigger the awakening of your nen."
"Can't you just force it to awaken by putting your own nen inside of us?" The tiger asked, "My dad said that you can awake someone's nen power by doing that! Even if they have no latent nen potential, you can force it to awaken by just forcing your own nen into their body! You can do that to us, right?"
Kazma looked at the boy with a raised eyebrow. However, before he could answer to that, it was Gon's turn to snatch the mic from his hand and speak, looking directly at the younger tiger as he said the next words:
"Cherryton does not uses such methods, young man."
The way Gon spoke, as if he was admonishing the younger tiger, was enough to make him flinch.
"Those methods you are referring to, although widely used on the first years after the Carni-Herbi War, has fallen in disuse due to the fact that it is extremely dangerous to the recipient's well-being." Gon explained. "So much that it is considered a form of aggression. In fact, some people consider it a form of violation, due to how invasive it is for the receiver. It is not a valid and qualified teaching method, and any legitimate teacher will tell you the same thing. We have not used such method in this school since its founding, and we have no intention of starting to in the foreseeable future."
The tiger, looking down, sat back on his seat, and someone who was nearby talked to him. Legoshi could hear them and he heard that this other animal was talking to the tiger, whose name was "Bill" that he had just been schooled by the headmaster before classes even began. To that, the tiger whispered back: "Shut up, Aoba!".
Attention was quickly diverged, as Gon resumed talking, telling the many students on the auditorium that they would all be given real lessons on how to awaken their nen and become users, all of them already introduced to their school curriculum, alongside with the nen control and combat lessons for those who already awakened their own nen.
"That said, I'd like to end this meeting by saying that I know each one of you are a star ready to shine upon this world." Gon said to all of them. "I hope that each one of you can shine as brightly as you can and share your light with society and inspire the future generations of users and non-users alike. Thank you."
Just like that, the meeting was over, and all the students after applauding their headmaster, made their way back to their respective dorms, many of them chatting with each other as they went their way. Soon, only Gon and Kazma were left on the auditorium, they both still standing on the stage.
"A form of aggression and violation?" Kazma said, looking at Gon. "Quite heavy words, no?"
"I needed to convey how dangerous such a method of nen awakening was." Gon said, "To be sure that none of those kids would even consider doing something as stupid as looking for someone who would be willing to do it to them when asked."
"You mean, like you did when you were their age?" Kazma said, looking at the tiger, who immediately became flustered.
"I was a stupid kid at the time!" Gon said, "I know better now."
"And yet you still lost to me on our last sparring match." Kazma said. "Mostly because you got distracted when Mirua showed up to watch. And let me tell you, she was giggling as she saw me handing you your tail."
"Careful, bunny-buns." Gon said, smirking. "I might just challenge you for another sparring match, and this time I might not go easy."
"Then I won't go easy as well. I will give you a new scar."
"Not if I break both your arms and legs first."
The two of them laughed at this.
In any other situation, a carnivore saying things like that to an herbivore would be more than a little awkward. It would be downright scary, enough for the herbivores around to want to call the police. However, when it was between two nen users, it was only a friendly banter.
For, when it came to users, even an herbivore was far above a normal beast. So much that an herbivore nen user could hardly be threatened by a carnivore, unless it was another nen user. Even then, the herbivore still had chances of emerging victorious.
This was the thing about nen. This great power was an equalizer. It brought carnivores and herbivores to the same leveled plain field, where all that mattered was the power of your nen, the skill with which you used it, and your will to fight.
No wonder beastars were almost exclusively nen users, with only a small number of non-users rising to the title.
"Anyways, we have been receiving some promising students lately." Kazma said, "This year we received two young boys who awakened their nen all by themselves. And one of them is a conjurer, just like the one from last year. The deer boy who can summon firearms. What was his name again?"
"Louis, the heir of Horns." Gon said, "You should remember, considering you have been tutoring him since last year."
"Bah, I'm bad with names." The rabbit said as he shrugged. "It took me three years to memorize yours after meeting you, remember?"
"And yet, you remembered Legoshi the Gray Wolf's name." Gon said.
"Well, I do remember things that I consider important." Kazma said, "Like a boy who has a lot of potential." He looked at Gon. "You felt too, didn't you? How dense his aura is? He was trying to suppress it as hard as he could, but I could still tell it was the densest aura I ever felt in someone so young."
"Yes, I noticed it as well." Gon agreed, and then Kazma said:
"That boy has a lot of potential... what is not really a surprise, when you take into account his... ancestry."
Gon looked at the rabbit, who then looked back at him. That one trade of looks was enough for Gon to know that there was no use trying to play dumb with the rabbit, because he knew exactly what he was talking about.
"Who else knows?" Kazma asked, his expression serious as he looked at Gon. The tiger answered with an equally serious expression:
"Here in Cherryton? Only you and me. And, for Legoshi's sake, its better if we keep it that way."
"Yeah, I see your point." Kazma said with a shrug. "This kind of information would not exactly make the boy popular."
"Yes, that much is truth." Gon said, "Legoshi deserves a normal life."
Kazma chuckled at this.
"Normal life... yeah, I am not sure if this is an option for someone with as much potential as him." Kazma said, "Mark my words, that boy is destined to great things."
Gon said nothing, but he admitted that Kazma was probably right.
Legoshi had, by far, the greatest potential that Gon ever encountered. His years of experience both as a nen user and an instructor helped him realize that the boy was a talent like few others. And, like it was the case with nearly all of those with great nen potential, Legoshi would certainly go on to do great things.
Even though it was the exactly opposite of what he wanted.
Back to their dorm, Legoshi was still looking down as he sat on the bed that would be his' until the end of their time in Cherryton. During this, Jack, being the social butterfly that he was when compared to his shy wolf friend, was soon making acquittances with all their new friends.
"I am Durham." The coyote said to the dog. "Dad told me that I better come back with some good skills with nen before he sent me here. Said that he could use a guy with good skills to help take care of the house."
"I am Collot." The shepherd said, "My parents own their own business."
"Voss." Said the fennec, who was sitting on the shepherd's shoulder, a spot that would be his favorite for the coming years. "I just want to learn some kind of skill that will make others stop looking down on me because of my size."
"I am Miguno." The hyena said, "My mother is a nen user too, which was why no one in my family was surprised that I had nen potential. I hope I can learn to do things as cool as her. Oh, and I have a brother who is also on Cherryton, but he is not in our dorm..."
The hyena didn't develop further, but the Labrador didn't ask for clarifications, and he just introduced himself, saying that his name was Jack and that his parents were both government workers and that he wanted to go and become a public worker just like them and use his nen skills to make society better.
"That's what we both want, right, Legoshi?" He said, looking at the wolf, who continued to look down, while the other dogs of the dorm 701 all looked at him, all of them were soon all over him, telling him how awesome it was for him and Jack to have awoken their nen abilities all by themselves, and how cool it was, and they were asking questions about his ability to create nen beasts.
"Actually, I awakened my nen thanks to Legoshi." Jack said, "He was the one who taught me how to meditate and awaken it after he did. I just followed his instructions, he is the true genius."
He was trying to flatter his friend, but the wolf only felt more awkward. However, he found it easy to get over the feelings of awkwardness as his new roommates proved to be very sociable and nice to be around. With Collot suggesting them to play a game together, and then the watch some movies while eating junk food. So, their first day and night as roommates was like a pleasant sleepover, and it allowed the canines, true to the fame of their animal family, to start bonding as roommates.
Legoshi was only glad that he had already made friends, despite Jack being the one who did the most talking for him.
This was like that for the rest of his first week in Cherryton, where Jack was the more sociable of the two of them, while Legoshi was pretty much the quiet kid in every class they had.
So much that some of que teachers wondered if Legoshi was autist or something. But Jack had to assure them that he was only shy.
And their first class of nen use... well, it was not the best.
Legoshi's awkwardness was starting to affect his life, as the wolf seemed to be falling into a routine of only going to class and then walking back to their dorm and holing himself there until it was time to go to class again.
This was not the kind of routine that he wanted Legoshi to have. Which was why, by the end of their first week, Jack was trying to convince Legoshi to join an afterschool club to start his next week.
"Just so you will have something to occupy your time, you know? So you won't be only locked in the room all day." Jack said to the wolf as he put the fliers of all clubs of school before him and they went through them, trying to find one that would interest Legoshi.
As they were through half of the list, there was a knock on the door. They opened to find an animal standing on the other side, dressed in clothes with the school's crest in them and asking to see Legoshi.
Once the wolf was before them, they delivered a very fancy letterhead, before leaving without saying a word.
Later, when Legoshi and the others tried to remember who this animal was, they would find out that they could remember nothing about their appearance, not even their gender or species. They would, however, remember their words as they delivered the letter to Legoshi:
"We would love to have you in our club."
For the letter he gave to Legoshi was an official invitation to one of the school's clubs. One that was not on the fliers that Jack brought to his friend, because this was Cherryton's most exclusive club, to which you could only enter if you received a handwritten letter inviting you to join.
It was an invitation to Cherryton Academy's Drama Club.
