The Sorcerer Hero: Deku

Chapter six: The Symbol of Peace

Ainz's classmates were horrified to see Izuku jump out of the window, especially as their classroom was located on the highest floor of the school's main building. However, they stopped short when they saw Izuku stop mid-fall and fly right to were the giant undead looking monsters were all at. Ainz landed on the ground, stood about a dozen meters away, and pointed at the Death Knight who killed a teacher (who Ainz planted there).

"Fireball."

A sphere of flames the size of a large beach ball flew from Ainz's fingertip and right at the Death Knight in question, blasting into it and destroying it so much it faded into ash. This got the attention of the other Death Knights. Although Ainz was in his Izuku appearance, the Death Knights knew, they could all tell, that he was their creator. They knew their purpose here was to be slain by Ainz's hand to help him achieve glory, and if they could feel jealousy towards the first one to die by Ainz's hand, they would.

But they had a duty to perform, so they all roared as the two closest to Ainz charged at him. Ainz flew up to get distance, then pointed at the two Death Knights who charged at him. "Dragon Lightning!" Ainz declared, casting the fifth tier lightning spell to blast the two Death Knights who charged at him, destroying both. "You monsters picked the wrong junior high school to attack," Ainz said, "As this school is where Izuku Midoriya goes to for his education!"

It wasn't just Ainz's classmates who were watching (who they still thought was) Izuku not only battling the giant undead warriors, but just made half of them look like jokes. "Dudes! Midoriya actually has a quirk!" screamed the boy who can make himself buff, "And he just killed three of the big-ass skeleton warrior monsters!"

"He shot fire and lightning," said the girl who told Ainz that Bakugo blasted him, "And he can fly. Just what kind of quirk does he have?"

Bakugo, as he was watching Ainz clean up shop, could only growl in frustration. "...Deku..."

Down at the battle, Ainz destroyed two more Death Knights, using attack spells he used when he battled Shalltear when she was mind-controlled. That left only one Death Knight remaining, and Ainz wanted to make a show of killing it to further cement Izuku as a name that has more than enough power to get into any hero high school that the Sorcerer King chose. Ainz began to cast one of the strongest yet easiest to contain attack spells to vanquish the last Death Knight.

...However, a bellowing shout of, "SMASH!" cut off the actions of Ainz, as the Death Knight was punched from behind by someone. It overrode what protections the Death Knight had and killed it in one hit, making it fade into ash. When the last Death Knight died, Ainz saw who it was that came in and stole the last bit of glory that should have been claimed by Izuku's hand.

All Might, the number one hero in Japan.

"So I finally meet All Might face to face," Ainz thought, "Given that a level in the forties is needed in order to be strong enough to stand up to a Death Knight, All Might is for sure a very powerful pro hero." Speaking up, Ainz said, "It's great to see you again, All Might. Thanks for the save just now." Although annoyed that All Might stole his thunder, Ainz had to be respectful to the Symbol of Peace, given the man's status in Japanese society.

All Might, upon seeing Izuku, looked like he remembered something. "Hey, you're that kid I met a while ago," All Might said, "What was your name again... Yushiro Sanada?"

"Izuku Midoriya," Ainz corrected, put off by how All Might didn't even try to remember the name of one of his devoted fans. No doubt due to the fact that Izuku is quirkless. The Sorcerer King was looking right at the Symbol of Peace as people began to file out of the school and run right for where the number one hero was standing. All of them were clamoring to see All Might, and many of the students were excitingly chanting Izuku's name.

...That last part made Ainz happy. Izuku was finally being recognized.

...

After some teachers came out to explain what happened, All Might was surprised to hear that not only were there six of the monster that he destroyed with a Detroit Smash, but the first five were all vanquished by Izuku. All Might was going to scold Izuku for confronting so dangerous a monster, but being told what happened before he arrived caught the Symbol of Peace by surprise. He figured that Izuku was preparing to destroy the last monster.

"You took a dangerous risk, young man," All Might said, "What were you even thinking?"

"I wasn't," Ainz said dryly, "My peers, teachers, and school was in danger. I acted to get rid of the danger, regardless of the danger to myself. Simple as that."

"Hot damn, Deku," Bakugo spoke up from the crowd, getting Ainz and All Might to turn to face him, "So you got some balls after all. Not to mention a quirk. Were you holding out on the rest of us?" Ainz's interest was piqued by the respect that Bakugo was showing him; before the Death Knight attack, Bakugo was blasting him with his Explosion quirk and calling him Deku. Now Bakugo was at least being civil, in his own way, towards Izuku Midoriya.

It wasn't just Bakugo (in his own way) respecting Izuku; Ainz took note of the look of amusement in All Might's eyes. Ainz was wanting to know exactly how powerful All Might was; being strong enough to solo a Death Knight meant that All Might had to be at least forty level wise. The Sorcerer King was also interested in what kind of quirk All Might had; it'd be something that Ainz wouldn't mind sacrificing one of his Quirk Jewels to make a copy of via Duplicate Quirk.

But he couldn't do so now, so Ainz decided to bide his time. He allowed his school peers to praise him, and a few even took photos of Ainz with All Might as they were the heroes who vanquished the monsters who tried invading the school. Due to what happened, the school had to end the school day early that day, permitting students to return home. Ainz had to linger because he was grilled on why he acted instead of waiting for a pro hero to arrive and take care of the monsters.

Surprisingly, All Might vouched for Ainz. He smoothed over the appropriate feathers for Ainz to get the heat off his back. When everything was settled, Ainz was able to return home to the apartment where the Midoriyas lived.

But Ainz was figuring he couldn't go about his personal business right away.

His suspicions were proven right when the Midoriya household was visited by All Might in his true form of Toshinori Yagi, who Ainz recalled from the memories he inherited from Izuku. "Ma'am, I'm going to be honest with you," Toshinori began as he spoke to Inko, "My boss All Might, who I work for as a secretary at his Hero Agency, has expressed interest in your son's potential as a pro hero."

"All Might thinks that Izuku can become a pro hero?!" Inko practically exclaimed, "But why?"

"I... tried taking the advice of a school mate," Ainz spoke up, getting both Toshinori and Inko to turn to look at him. "After All Might left me alone on top of a tall building when he told me I couldn't be a hero without a quirk," Ainz went on, "I took the advice of that school mate and tried committing suicide via jumping from the rooftop in the hopes of being reborn in my next life with a quirk."

Toshinori and especially Inko were shocked to hear what Ainz said, with Inko looking fit to cry. "My attempted suicide failed, obviously," Ainz said, "But the physical trauma I suffered from attempting it regardless had apparently been a sort of trigger that I needed to awaken and activate the quirk that was apparently hiding inside of me this entire time."

As Inko softly began to cry, Toshinori looked like he was punched in the gut with a Detroit Smash made entirely of guilt. "All Might... really told you that you couldn't be a hero without a quirk, huh?" Toshinori said, his tone a bit subdued by guilt. Gesturing to Ainz, Toshinori went on, "But you clearly have a quirk now. What is it called?"

Looking down at his hand, Ainz said, "I've taken to calling it Sorcery, as it lets me cast a number of different abilities that many would mistake for magic casting." This was a cover lie to give Ainz some more leeway to openly use magic in front of others in the second New World if necessary.

Holding a hand to his chin, Toshinori said, "Interesting. I bet that you and the pro hero Majestic would get along swimmingly. But my boss All Might would like to see you at his Hero Agency to make you an offer."

"Will he also give me an apology for his tactless words that were the trigger to me taking my one school mate's advice?" Ainz asked dryly.

"I'll be sure to tell my boss that he ought to apologize to you for being so devil may care towards your feelings and struggles," Toshinori replied, looking like a man who wanted to make things right. Ainz normally would reject All Might outright for his tactless indifference to Izuku, but he had been presented with a golden opportunity to be alone with All Might. This could be the Sorcerer King's chance to learn more about the Symbol of Peace.

As well as get a copy of his powerful quirk.

The first day off from school that Ainz had, he went right to Might Tower, the Hero Agency that was maintained by All Might. He walked in, and to his surprise All Might in his Toshinori form was waiting for him down on the ground floor. "Ah, you're punctual I see, Young Midoriya," Toshinori said, "All Might will be glad to see that."

Ainz knew that Toshinori was putting up an act for the benefit of others who may be watching, so he let it slide. "I assume you're here to take me straight up to see All Might, Mr. Yagi?" Ainz asked.

Toshinori nodded in the affirmative, and together he and Ainz took an elevator to the top floor of Might Tower. They then went into All Might's office and closed the door behind them. Ainz heard a whirring sound and a click. "There, now the room is sound proofed," Toshinori said, before he turned into his buff form as All Might.

Before All Might even said anything, Ainz cast Time Stop to freeze time for pretty much the entire world. Since he was right in front of All Might when the Symbol of Peace transformed, Ainz was in the perfect position to check him. "Detect Quirk," Ainz said as he held up a hand towards All Might. The same general info menu came up, but there were a number of surprises that the Sorcerer King was not expecting to see.

First off, All Might's level was at seventy; he had never before seen a level that high among residents in the second New World, even the late Kai Chisaki was a little under level thirty. This impressive level went a long way to explain how All Might was able to solo a Death Knight and as easily as he had done so. All Might just became a human in the second New World that Ainz was going to be wanting to keep an eye out for.

Second, checking All Might's quirk, Ainz got the following blurb;

One For All (Embers) (Emitter-type quirk)

This quirk is residual embers of the One For All quirk and as such is not an actual quirk. The real One For All quirk has already been given to a new holder. Even so, the residual embers allow the user to change into a tall buff form that has various abilities including super strength, super speed, super durability, and the like. The residual embers will eventually fade, leaving the user without any power.

This was something Ainz was not expecting, and checking with Harvest Quirk the Sorcerer King saw that he indeed wasn't able to take All Might's power. Canceling the Harvest Quirk spell, Ainz looked at the frozen in time Symbol of Peace. Even with only residual embers of a quirk and no actual quirk, All Might was still the strongest, most highly ranked pro hero in Japan. No wonder Izuku had such praise for All Might.

All Might was someone who Ainz was wanting to keep an eye on more and more. He also took note of how the blurb for the One For All embers said that the real One For All was already passed down to another holder. Who was that holder? Ainz figured that the real One For All quirk could be copied via Duplicate Quirk, so he was wanting to find out who All Might's heir was and learn what all he was able to learn about the heir.

Deciding that this was going to need more time than previously thought, Ainz decided to drop the Time Stop and resume things in real time with All Might. "Look, Young Midoriya," All Might began in an apologetic tone, "I didn't mean for my words to hurt you as they did, and I certainly didn't want you to attempt to take your own life. Suicide rates among the quirkless in Japan are high enough as they are. It wouldn't do if you became a statistic."

"You were being pragmatic," Ainz said, "The work of a pro hero requires the hero to have a quirk, it requires some degree of power, there is no denying that."

"Yes," All Might replied, "But there's more needed to be a pro hero than just a quirk. It requires heart, a willingness to do what's needed when it's needed. You displayed that yesterday when you acted to defend your school from those monsters. Your words when I asked you what you were thinking are a sign that you really do have a hero's heart. That's the first step to being a good pro hero."

"By the standards that All Might is giving," Ainz thought, "Gazef accomplished the first step to being a good pro hero." Speaking up, Ainz said, "Acting without thinking of one's own safety or well being in order to save others is the first step to being a good pro hero, huh?"

"If becoming a pro hero is something you still seriously wish to do, I strongly encourage you to keep it up," All Might said, "You've not only proven you can work the job, you've also proven me wrong. For that, I would like to both thank you and give you an apology."

Ainz was still a little unsure of All Might, given that he felt that the Symbol of Peace was only being respectful towards Izuku because Izuku has power after all. Ainz was also suspicious of All Might and his interesting power which apparently leaves him with slowly fading embers and the real power already in the hands of another holder. The Sorcerer King was fully intending to get to the bottom of the mystery that was One For All.

...But Ainz could tell All Might was sincerely wanting to at least try to make up for his prior faux pax, was sincerely trying to be better. Ainz appreciated that, as he felt such respect had been due to be given to Izuku for a very long time. "I appreciate the sincerity, All Might," Ainz said, "And I will accept both the thanks and apology."

The meeting ended with All Might giving Ainz some numbers to call if he was interested in seeking out training to get ready for an entrance exam into a hero high school. Ainz was actually interested in checking out the numbers, but ultimately he was not going to seek out training. It would clash with his plans of setting up his base of operation in the second New World, and he already had what he needed to give the name Izuku Midoriya the credibility it needed to get into U.A.

All he needed was for Mr. Suzuki to reach out and sponsor him.

The months leading up to the entrance exam for getting into U.A. went by in a blur. In that time, all of Ainz's storefronts had been set up and were in business. Due to what businesses were set up in the storefronts and where what specific store was set up, Ainz saw a lot of profits come in. This had helped to greatly boost the coffers that he had in the second New World. Kurono, seeing that the Shie Hassaikai was now seeing vastly increased income, became all the more devoted to Ainz.

Helping Ainz get info on the goings on over at U.A. was the fact that the stores located closest to U.A. were not only stores that he knew would appeal to high school students, but the fact that the stores under the Sorcerer King's business umbrella offered discounts to U.A. students in the hero course who at minimum had their provisional licenses. This helped to bring in students that were in the field that Ainz was going to see Izuku shine in.

Speaking of Izuku, Ainz made sure to have his employees working at his stores, all of them Shie Hassaikai members not known to law enforcement, mention to provisional license holders from U.A. about the incident where a boy at Aldera Junior High defeated five monsters that tried to lay siege to the school. This was to make sure that, by the time Ainz got into U.A., the name of Izuku Midoriya would already be known to the student populace.

Ainz also kept up both Izuku's academics at school and his own research and study into quirks. He came across several more homeless persons in Japan, used Harvest Quirk on them, then killed them. He also made sure to chuck their dead bodies into a portal that emptied into Nazarick, as he was hearing news reports of dead persons who were supposed to have quirks but examination had shown they lost their quirks somehow.

The Sorcerer King couldn't believe he was so reckless, as now pro heroes and police were investigating the incidents. He even became more apprehensive when he got it that All Might took a sudden and very firm interest in investigating the dead homeless persons found quirkless despite records showing they're supposed to have quirks. Ainz had vowed to be a lot more careful from this point moving forward. It wouldn't do if his plans failed here.

In regards to his research into quirks, Ainz began to run an experiment where he made it so that he had an underling with more than one quirk. Agari, the plump girl with the healing quirk Fat Doctor, was given a copy of Stout Strength made via the Duplicate Quirk spell. Upon receiving her new quirk, Agari instantly inflated beyond her already plump form, reaching the approximate size Chocho had before Stout Strength was taken from her.

Ainz wanted to see if Agari could use the extra body fat granted by Stout Strength as fuel for her Fat Doctor quirk. Remembering hearing that Agari with sufficient excess weight can even regenerate a severed finger, Ainz had a willing peon from the Shie Hassaikai volunteer to have his fingers cut off so Agari can regenerate them. This led to Ainz seeing that not only were Agari's claims accurate, but that she was indeed able to use her Stout Strength granted fat as fuel for Fat Doctor, as doing enough healing slimed Agari down to the same level as Revy, Chocho, and Rem.

When Ainz checked on Agari the following day, he was surprised to see that she had blimped back up to her super plump two-hundred and fifty kilogram weight that she had going when she first got a copy of Stout Strength. Wanting to know how this had happened exactly, Ainz ran a few more experiments, getting loads and loads of severed fingers he offered to Entoma back in Nazarick as a snack in the process.

The Sorcerer King came to the conclusion that Stout Strength will regenerate any weight that the user loses overnight, always keeping them at a minimum of two-hundred and fifty kilograms for persons of Agari's general range of height. This meant that there was a lot less worry about Agari having the necessary fuel for her potent healing quirk. Ainz also wanted to find a quirk he could make a duplicate of via Duplicate Quirk and give a copy to Revy to help her overcome the stamina limit she has to let her use her quirk Ailment Relief at a rate comparable to how Agari was now able to spam Fat Doctor.

When he operated as Izuku, Ainz worked to maintain Izuku having a good reputation. Now that Izuku's peers at Aldera were aware he had power, they no longer discriminated against him. Even Bakugo was nicer now, although he looked annoyed that 'Deku had been holding out on everyone' as the explosive teen put it. Ainz figured that baby steps were needed here in order to make progress, especially as he still felt Bakugo needed a serving of humble pie.

In addition to Izuku being respected now, his rep for always having good grades was now more tolerated by persons who previously were upset a quirkless person was outperforming them in any way. But then again the quirkless person turned out to not be quirkless, at least as far as they all knew. Ainz wanted to let them continue thinking that, it would afford the name of Izuku Midoriya a much deserved measure of relief.

Ainz while acting as Izuku also enjoyed a level of wealth not seen in any of the other students at Aldera. This is due to the Sorcerer King being in charge of the Shie Hassaikai, and he took some money citing how he needed it for personal expenses. He never took too much and only took when it was necessary for him; he still wanted his underground workings to have sufficient funds in order to continue its workings.

Even so, Ainz had more yen than he bet Izuku would ever expect to have at this point in his life. If asked about the sudden money, Ainz would say that Mr. Suzuki, who is sponsoring him when he tries for U.A., is giving him an allowance. The name of another of Ainz's aliases was famous for being a wealthy entrepreneur who had multiple stores that appealed to a lot of persons, mainly the teen demographic in high school.

Speaking of high schools, Ainz never took his eyes off of the high school that was his goal for Izuku to go to.

The day of the U.A. entrance exam came, and Ainz walked onto campus to take the exams. Confident in his academic prowess (if need be he can get answers from others via Time Stop) as well as confident in his power if he had to show it, Ainz made his way towards what would be more or less a second base of operations for him in the second New World, albeit an unofficial one.

As the Sorcerer King made his way to the school, he heard a female voice call out, "Hey, you look like that Midoriya boy my parents say Mr. Suzuki is sponsoring!" Ainz looked over and saw a fair skinned girl with brown hair in a bobcut run up to greet him. "So you're aiming to get into U.A. as well," the girl said, "Here's hoping we both get into the hero course, huh?"

Ainz recognized this girl as Ochaco Uraraka, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Uraraka who own and run the construction company he hired to get his storefronts ship shape and ready for business. Ainz got it that Ochaco's goal was to become a hero because she wanted to use the money earned from the profession to help her parents and their business. After getting the full details of Ochaco's reason, Ainz mentally labeled her as a sweet, good girl who loved her family and wanted to do what she could for them.

The Sorcerer King had no complaints about Ochaco Uraraka.

"Ah, Uraraka-san," Ainz greeted, "Yes, Mr. Suzuki told me about you because your parents mentioned you to him after he brought up how he was sponsoring me. I believe that conversation occurred when he hired your parents' company to get some bought up abandoned fast food places up to snuff so he could set up businesses there." Ainz didn't stop with the twelve storefronts he got on his initial acquisitions; he expanded when the budget allowed, and started his first eateries.

All business storefronts that were bought up by the Sorcerer King had Uraraka Construction tend to them to fix them up properly and get them ready to go into business. This resulted in a moderate bit of life being breathed back into Uraraka Construction, and the Urarakas were now able to enjoy a much higher level of comfort than they used to. It wasn't extreme, but now they weren't struggling with even simple expenses. A fact they owed their gratitude for towards Ainz Ooal Gown.

"I think I heard something about you personally talking to All Might after he destroyed some sort of big warrior thing that looked like some kind of undead monster," Ochaco remarked, "And that you also destroyed a few such monsters."

Ainz nodded once in the affirmative. "Well I wasn't about to let big scary monsters run roughshod over my school, my peers, and everything else I held dear." To be honest, Ainz couldn't care less about Aldera as it was the hell that tormented Izuku. He only acted to protect it so as to give a boost to Izuku's renown and make him a name that will be anticipated at U.A. "Here's hoping that we'll see one another in U.A., Uraraka-san," Ainz said.

"Good luck, Midoriya-kun," Ochaco replied before they took off into U.A. together. Ainz made a mental note to tell the female denizens of Nazarick to leave female humans at U.A. alone unless he specifically instructed them otherwise. He bet that Shalltear and (especially) Albedo would be very jealous of Ochaco being so friendly with him right now; the Sorcerer King would have to stress it that the females at U.A. were merely instructors and peers.

There was NO romance going on whatsoever.

Later, Ainz found himself in a very large lecture hall where he and all others there for the U.A. entrance exam had to do a written portion. With a mix of the academic prowess he inherited from Izuku and kept refining as well as using Time Stop if need be, Ainz was confident that he was going to get a perfect score, if not one of the best scores overall. But he knew that the written portion was only the first part of the U.A. entrance exam.

The second part, revealed by a pro hero known as Present Mic who worked at U.A. as a teacher, was a practical portion where the students would go into arenas and fight 'villain robots', actually just plain ol' robots that the students had to fight. They earned points based on how well they did in the practical portion, with destroying the robots being the main source of points, called 'villain points'.

But Ainz got it, thanks to spying via magic that the heroes had no way to detect much less protect against, that there was a second type of points, called 'rescue points', that are earned by being a helpful hero towards others. Saving someone who's being overwhelmed by the villain robots is an example of a good way to earn rescue points. In order to pass the practicals, a certain number of points overall had to be earned.

Students were also allowed to bring in certain equipment if it was approved ahead of time. Ainz did this so he could bring in a staff to help with his magic casting; it was a more simple looking version of the staff he whumped Guu around for a bit with, mainly using reds and blacks in its coloration. He figured that a staff would help fit the theme of his Sorcery 'quirk', plus it did help as a focus for his magic casting, if only a little.

Within short order, the students were instructed to head into the arena to begin the practical portion of the U.A. entrance exam. This is a make or break moment for the name of Izuku Midoriya, and by no means was Ainz planning to fail.

END, CHAPTER SIX

Author's notes;

This chapter sees Ainz set up and carry out what's needed to make Izuku's name one that has the needed credibility to get into U.A., although All Might stole a little bit of Ainz's thunder at the end. Ainz also learned a few things about All Might that he's going to be wanting to investigate at a later time, but for now he has to bide his time and focus on other things necessary for his goals in the second New World.

Ainz's business ventures, both the Shie Hassaikai and its multiple legitimate faces, sees a lot of money flowing into the coffers that Nazarick has in the second New World. Ainz also experiments around a bit with the Quirk Jewels he's got, and makes a discovery about the quirk Chocho originally had, making him want to find a quirk that can similarly help Revy. Time passes and Ainz arrives at U.A. to take the entrance exams.

He does well enough in the written portion, but how the practical portion will go will be seen in the next chapter. Later.
