The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the tranquil river that meandered through the valley. The gentle sound of water flowing over smooth stones provided a soothing background as Kagome, along with several other women from the pack, gathered at the riverbank for their daily laundry.

Kagome knelt by the water's edge, her sleeves rolled up to her elbows as she scrubbed a piece of clothing against a washing stone. The cool water felt refreshing against her skin, and she couldn't help but smile as the other women chatted and laughed around her.

Ayame sat nearby on a flat rock, rinsing a garment with slow, deliberate movements. Despite her condition, she insisted on helping where she could. Kagome admired her determination and strength.

"So, Kagome," one of the women, a tall wolf demoness named Yumi, began with a playful glint in her eye, "how are you finding life with the pack? It must be quite the change from your old life."

Kagome paused, dipping the garment back into the water and glancing up with a warm smile. "It's definitely different, but in a good way. Everyone has been so welcoming and kind. I feel like I'm really starting to fit in."

Yumi grinned, her hands deftly wringing out a piece of fabric. "We're glad to have you. It's not every day we get to welcome someone as unique as you. And having Kouga bring you here… well, that's something special."

Kagome's cheeks flushed slightly at the mention of Kouga. She focused on her task, feeling the warmth of the women's camaraderie envelop her. "Kouga has been very kind. I'm grateful to him for bringing me here and making me feel at home."

Ayame chimed in, her voice gentle but teasing. "I think Kouga is more than just kind to you, Kagome. He seems… very protective."

The women around them chuckled, their knowing smiles making Kagome's blush deepen. "He's just looking out for me, like he does for everyone in the pack."

Yumi raised an eyebrow, exchanging a glance with another woman named Hana. "Oh, come on, Kagome. We've all seen the way he looks at you. It's more than just pack loyalty."

Kagome couldn't help but laugh, shaking her head. "You're all incorrigible."

Ayame's laughter was soft and melodic. "We're just happy to see Kouga so… content. He's been different since you arrived. Happier."

Kagome's heart warmed at the thought. She rinsed the garment in her hands, the water swirling away with the suds. "I care about him, too. He's become a good friend."

The conversation shifted to lighter topics, with the women sharing stories and gossip about life in the pack. Kagome listened and contributed, feeling a sense of belonging grow stronger with each passing moment. The sun's rays glinted off the water, casting a sparkling light over the scene, and Kagome felt a profound sense of peace.

As the laundry was finally hung out to dry on nearby bushes and rocks, Kagome stood and stretched, wiping her damp hands on her apron. Ayame approached, her eyes twinkling with a mixture of mischief and sincerity.

"Kagome, thank you for being here. I know it's not always easy to adjust to a new place, but you've done it with grace."

Kagome smiled, her heart full. "Thank you, Ayame. I'm happy to be here. It's starting to feel like my home."

With their tasks complete, the women began to gather their belongings and head back towards the den, their laughter and chatter continuing. Kagome walked alongside Ayame, feeling a deep sense of gratitude for the bonds she was forming.
