Pandemonium immediately breaks out.
"I need to get to the Guild!" Eina exclaimed as she breaks into a run.
"I'll go with you!" Bell said up running after her.
"We'll go with you!" Jonah corrected as he also runs with them. "Can that building be secured?!"
"It can!" Eina verified.
"How are we gonna knock those people off Babel?!" Bell asked desperately while looking up at the top of the tower.
As if to answer their question, streaks of light fly toward the top of Babel from where Riveria and the mages are stationed, causing the trio to stop momentarily while looking up.
"Does that answer your question?!" Jonah proclaimed.
But those streaks of light are dispelled by a shield of sorts.
"That's why they got that Pthumerian Elder up there with them!" Jonah growled. "It's gonna take someone with immensely powerful magic to knock them down now!"
"It's out of our hands!" Eina proclaimed. "Now to the Guild!"
"Our magic isn't working, Lady Riveria!" Lefiya stated intently.
"We can't give up!" Riveria barked. "We need to close those portals and that means getting rid of those beings up there! That sorcerer is only one, so we must keep up the pressure! Now continue!"
Jonah, Bell, and Eina arrive near the Guild but are forced to stop at a terrible sight.
"No! The monsters got in!" Eina squealed as they witness some of Yharnam's monsters assailing the Guild as they charge in through its door.
Only to all suddenly go flying back out enmasse. A second later another monster goes flying out the door like a rag doll.
Jonah quickens forward and chops through the mass of monsters in one stroke via use of his momentum as they were on the verge of getting up. With a lull in the attack, they hurry over to look inside to see Rose standing there in a battle stance in all of her furious glory.
"Eina, get inside!" Rose growled, prompting Eina to do so. "We have to lock this place down!"
"We'll fight them off until you get that done!" Jonah called.
"Right!" Rose proclaimed with Eina by her side, then turned to the others. "Everyone, get barricading!"
Jonah and Bell turn to face another oncoming group of monsters. Six in all. They being three Beast Patients, two Bloodlickers, and a Celestial Emissary. With furled Saw Cleaver, Jonah quickens forward to viciously slash the three Beast Patients in one blow, causing them to fall back shrieking with deep gashes in their chests. Bell is confronted by the Celestial Emissary of which he stabs in the head, only for his blade to bounce.
Grr, it's head is like jelly! Bell thought desperately as he dodges from narrowly getting struck by the sparkly blue yellow-eyed grotesque creature with the conical jelly-like cranium. It has a squat torso with a slight pot belly and long gangly limbs.
It takes a swat at Bell but he manages to jump back, yet it does manage to nick him across the arm.
Guh, that felt like the tip of a club! Bell thought with a grimace of pain.
The Celestial Emissary swats at Bell again and misses as Bell jumps back, who then lunges forward to stab it through one of its eyes up to the hilt.
"Firebolt!"
The Celestial Emissary's head bursts into white flames and it falls back dead. Bell's attention is suddenly shifted to one of the Bloodlickers as it looms over him. It's disgusting face framed by stringy hair and its foul smell fills him with revulsion.
It shrieks and stumbles forward and Bell can see that it was the result of Jonah hamstringing it. The Beast Patients and the other Bloodlicker now lie dead. Bell is quick to capitalize on its injury by stabbing it through one of its eyes, causing it to collapse like a marionette having its strings cut.
"Great job, Bell!" Jonah said upon hurrying over to him and turning to look back at more approaching monsters. "If someone like you can hold your own against the monsters of Yharnam, then this city has hope!"
"Hold your fire! Look!" Riveria announced while pointing with her staff.
"Is that Perseus?!" Meryl Tear, a member of the Hermes Familia, asked.
"It is!" Lefiya said.
Asfi flies up to the top of Babel. In that instance, a fireball comes flying toward her and she is forced to dive back down.
"I guess she won't be getting close to them anymore," Hedin said.
As for Asfi, she lands back down with her Familia at their place called, the Traveler's Inn.
"It's no good!" Asfi rasped in frustration. "That sorcerer can hurl fireballs and either of those six can easily raise an alarm for him! Only the mages can deal with them!"
"Then what are we gonna do?!" Lulune fretted.
That is when they take notice of the various monsters of Yharnam advancing upon them.
"We fight, that's what!" Asfi said as she stands with her dagger out in one hand and a burn oil in the other.
Yharnam's monsters had broken through the gates of Twilight Manor and now assail the property, since it is directly alongside the North Gate of which has one of the new portals into that blighted world of Yharnam.
"EAT THIS YOU FUCKS!" Bete snarled with fury as he brutally roundhouses an Executioner, sending it flying into a group consisting of Beast-possessed Souls, Cloaked Beast Patients, and a Giant Lost Child.
"Damn, you're hideous!" Gareth shouted defiantly as he chops through the multi-eyed head of a Maneater Boar, slitting its head open and also bursting or dislodging its many eyes.
A group of monsters consisting of two Greater Viper Pits, three Cramped Caskets, and four Slime Scholars advance on Alicia as she has her bow at the ready. "Frozen Skies, heavenly rain! White ice that colors the forest, shoot the shameful barbarians! Freezing binding chains of winter!" She chants. "Hail Dust!"
A barrage of ice bullets strike them, freezing them.
"Tiona!" Alicia shouted.
Tiona charges in and swings her urga, shattering those frozen monsters into bits. She next turns and slices a Mad One that was out of range and now running shrieking toward her while waving its triangular axes in two at its waist. She swings again to slice through two Shadows of Yharnam and a Bloodlicker.
Tione is confronted by a Beast Claw Hunter and slices its arm off then stabs it through the head up through its chin with her gurkas. A Giant Rat scuttles toward her and she jams both blades through its eyes, killing it.
Finn, armed with his two spears, darts around a Brick Troll, slashing it about so quickly that dozens of gashes appear on it in a matter of seconds, causing the monster to flinch in pain. He is quick to slice its throat open, spilling its blood and stab it through the heart and fall back. The giant falls over and a Vermin Host walks up to him, its human head replaced with a multitude of snakes of varying sizes. It lunges at Finn with outstretched hand, causing a snake to dart out from its palm. Finn holds one of his spears high and spins it so fast that it seems to disappear and lunges toward the former human, severing all of those snakes so that its body falls to the ground.
Ais Wallenstein is confronted by a Shadow of Yharnam wielding a flaming sword. They cross swords and she can feel the heat of it and jumps back. The Shadow gives chase and swipes at her upon getting close enough.
"Tempest!" Ais commanded, forming air around her sword.
The Shadow of Yharnam seems to be startled, only to make snakes suddenly burst out of its front so that Ais is the one to be startled. Ais grimaces slightly at her opponent whose face is a black void within the hood of a black robe.
They exchange sword blows. To someone who doesn't understand sword fighting it would seem like they are merely hitting each other's blades, but as Ais once explained to Bell sword fighting is about either trying to knock aside your opponent's attacks or trying to get past your opponent's defense. Either way, it is all about trying to strike your opponent with your own sword by getting their sword out of your way.
Ais just barely dodges getting bitten by one of those snakes, causing her frustration. The Shadow throws a triple fireball at her and lunges toward her with flaming sword high to strike and snakes jutting out to bite. But Ais slides, squatting as low to the ground as possible, and comes up alongside the Shadow with sword held like a bat to hit a ball. At incredible speed, Ais jumps extending with sword rising, slashing off those snakes and both of its arms. Then immediately descends to decapitate it from behind.
The Shadow of Yharnam falls and disintegrates.
Ais focuses on the rest of the battle around and attacks a Beast-Possessed Soul, chopping off one of its arms, then spinning to decapitate it.
The rest of the Loki Familia are also are busy beating back more of Yharnam's monsters.
A Winter Lantern attempts to grab Bete with its tentacles, but he ducks and slids in low, then leaps with a fierce rising front kick to send it flying up and away. Gareth cleaves a Brick Troll down through its head. Finn skewers a Nightmare Apostle through its head. With pike in hand, Anakitty chops out the legs of a Beast Patient, then chains to chop down into its head. Tiona is confronted by another Executioner and they exchange blade blows until she gets the upper hand by chopping down through its hooded head. Tione is confronted by a Garden of Eyes and skewers it through its grotesque head through two of its pustular multiple eyes.
"Keep up the fight!" Finn shouted. "Don't let these abominations prevail!"
In the Hostess of Fertility, Mia Grande and her employees are dressed in outfits they would adventure in and stand side-by-side with weapons at the ready. Mia wields a shovel; Ryu, a wooden sword; Anya, a spear; Chloe, a pair of daggers; and Lunoire, her fists but encased in black fingerless gloves with metal plates.
They glower at the double doors with its oak crossbeam that keeps it locked. The tables and chairs had been cleared aside, tucked up along the walls to give them a clear floor to do battle on if worse should come to worse, while at the same time making it difficult for the monsters to attempt access through the street side windows by blocking them, though they also have shutters drawn across them.
There is much thumping and banging upon the doors as they can hear the chilling screams and yowls of Yharnam's monsters.
"It's a good thing Syr is laying low somewhere, meow," Anya said intently.
"Meow, she's no fighter," Chloe agreed intently.
"Even with the back door boarded, let's hope they're not smart enough to try their luck back there," Ryu said.
"Let's hope they can't break in here at all," Lunoire said intently.
There is a loud bang on the double doors, causing them to shake violently.
"Don't get your hopes up over that," Mia Grande said grimly while clutching her shovel tightly.
One of the doors starts to splinter. There is more pounding on it and more of the door starts to give way. At the same time, there is a crash of glass from the street side windows, causing the tables and chairs piled up next to them to fall over from the monsters trying to get in through them. The doors are next to give way and a Church Servant enters, like any Pthumerian, it is huge of stature as the top of its hat brushes against the ceiling. It wields a large piece of wood with two pieces of wood nailed to either side jutting at an upward diagonal, making it fork-like.
"Meow, he's bigger than Ottar!" Chloe exclaimed.
"What's wrong with his face, meow?!" Anya exclaimed as the Church Servant has wide open eyes and mouth that are unto black chasms from the Eldritch Truth that was revealed to its kind.
"Who cares!" Mia bellowed as she hefts her shovel. "TO BATTLE!"
She strikes the Church Servant but it successfully stops her attack with that wooden implement.
"What the?! It's like hitting a shield!" Mia exclaimed.
"Mia, get down!" Ryu shouted, causing the matron to do so. "Luminous Wind!"
Three green balls of energy strike the Church Servant fully in its face and explodes, knocking its hat off and causing it to stagger back. It was a very short chant due to having to avoid destroying the tavern. Mia is quick to capitalize on this moment and hefts the shovel again, this time connecting with its head, making it fly back out the doorway into the rest of the monsters that were trying to get in.
The tables and chairs fail to keep out more of the monsters as more climb in through the windows. Lunoire dashes over and punches a Cainhurst Gargoyle, sending it flying back out of the window to be followed by a Bone Ash Hunter that Ryu sent flying as well. Mia attempts to bash in the head of Celestial Emissary, only for its head to merely squish and rebound back, so instead she opts to strike it with the edge of the shovel, cleaving its jelly head; Anya skewers the head of a Scourge Beast.
"Play around!" Chloe shouted upon being confronted by a Watcher's Gravedigger.
Illusionary clones of herself appear before her foe which stops to try and figure which is the real one. Chloe slashes the monster across its throat dually then dually stabs it through the chest.
A Brainsucker gets the jump on Anya, extending its grotesque mouthpart and starts sucking on her head, only to balk and fall back as it makes gagging sounds. Its head is bashed in by Mia.
"Either it doesn't like your brain or it couldn't find one, ah ha ha ha ha!" Mia bellowed heartily as she hefts her shovel.
In that instance, the monsters outside seemingly go flying upward. It is immediately noted that they were separated from their lower halves as blood and guts go flying as well.
"Firebolt!" A familiar voice yelled from outside.
There is an explosion of fire outside and the monsters shriek and fall away. Bell dashes in through the doors, followed by Jonah.
"Is everyone okay!" Bell demanded.
"We're fine, Little Rookie," Mia assured. "But what are you and Mister Theron doing here?"
"We were defending the Guild until it was secured enough!" Jonah answered intently. "Then I had a hunch for us to get down here and give aid!"
Or more accurately, keening his Insight had shown him glimpses of the battle sights that had taken ahold of the city and with Bell in tow hurried to this one because its situation was the most desperate.
But Jonah was not about to reveal that, especially not the part where the gods were looking down like Freya was when he first entered Orario.
"That's great, meow!" Anya proclaimed.
"You ladies got this?! Jonah asked intently.
"We got this! Thanks for your help!" Mia proclaimed.
"Bell," Jonah stated intently, "we got an orphanage to defend!"
As his keened Insight had shown him that it is the next trouble spot. A Celestial Emissary blocks their way out through the door and Jonah shoots it in the face, blowing its head away.
"Now let's-ARRRGH!"
Upon noticing a Winter Lantern standing outside the window staring in, causing Jonah to fall to the floor as those spear shafts made of the Old Blood stab out of him repeatedly. They all gape in horror at the sight of both the Winter Lantern and Jonah's situation.
"FIREBOLT!" Bell screamed and shoots a fireball at the Winter Lantern, causing it to screech and writhe from the white flames.
Jonah struggles back up. He takes out a blood syringe, then stabs it into his leg to recover from the injuries it had inflicted upon him. He takes out that bottle of sedatives and drinks to dispel the growing frenzy that could prove lethal.
The Moon-scented Hunter shoots the Winter Lantern as he holds his right arm back, dropping the Saw Cleaver, and delivers a visceral attack so violent that he lifts it up off of the ground and ends up bringing it inside. He snarls intently up at it as its blood gushes out all over him like a small waterfall, puddling on the floor around his feet.
He savagely hurls the Winter Lantern back out the window across the street where it does not get back up. The blood starts disappearing from him along with the damage to his body and clothes. Jonah picks up his Saw Cleaver, furls it, then glances at the others as they blink with stunned expressions.
"Bell, you comin' or not?!" Jonah demanded.
"Right!" Bell answered intently.
"Excuse us," Jonah said curly.
Jonah and Bell hurry out.
"Meow, he just did to that horrid thing that he did to Bete!" Anya said with amazement.
"More of a mess to clean up, meow," Chloe sighed as she stares at the blood on the floor.
"Save the chitchat for after we survive!" Mia shouted as she stares out the open doors to see more monsters converging in front of the Hostess of Fertility.
