Jiro wakes up the next morning with the puppy, who Reika and Tokoyami agreed to call him Hoshi, meaning star. "I'm up, boy. Shouldn't you be with Koda while Tokoyami is in his classes?" She asked as she petted the young dog. She looks up to see Rhyley standing by her door with a scared and worried look on her face. "Is something wrong kid?" She said before they heard a loud thud from next door. Rhyley runs into the room and hugs Jiro tightly, shaking with fear, hearing muffled voices. "What's going on?" The dog growls at the wall between Jiro's room and the room next door.
"Something's wrong with Keralynn. Her door is locked and no one else is here but you." She said as she started crying.
"It's alright. We'll figure this out. Where's your brother?" She asks her.
"L-Looking for Koda or someone that can help open the door a-and wake her up." She cried.
After Jiro got dressed She walked outside her door and met up with Shoji. "I heard what's happening with Mayson. Rhyan thinks that her quirk is out of control, but I don't hear her singing at all." He said.
"Who all is still here?" Jiro asked him.
"You, me, Koda, Kaminari, and the twins. Rhyan has gone to get Kaminari and Koda. They will go get Mr. Aizawa." He explained. They hear more loud thuds and muffled voices in the room. "What is going on in there?" He asks himself.
Jiro uses her quirk to listen into the room. "It sounds like a man's voice. Could it be her father?" She asked herself.
"Her father would never call her a monster, I also hear a little boy's voice in there with her. I think he's defending her from the man." Shoji said.
"I-I heard the situation from Rh-Rhyan." They hear Koda's voice. They turn to see him holding Yuki and the black bunny together. The dog runs over and gives him a series of growls and barks. He looks at the dog, nodding his head before looking back at them. "R-Reika and Tokoyami asked him to watch over Keralynn while they're at their classes. H-Her quirk has gone out of control during the night. H-He thinks she's having a nightmare and her illusions are po-portraying that nightmare." He explained with a worried tone.
"I can hear that there is a lot of yelling and movement in there. It's as if her illusions…aren't illusions anymore." Jiro said.
"The door's locked somehow. We can't get in." Shoji said as he jiggled the door knob. He turns to Koda. "We'll have to force our way in."
He looks at Keralynn's door worriedly before looking down at Yuki and the black bunny. "Can you help us get in, Yuki? I'd rather not cause anymore damage to the dorm than there already is…….I know, l-leave it to me." He said before he looked towards them. "I need you both to close your eyes." He said as he handed both bunnies to Jiro. "Can you hold onto Yuki and Noir for me, Jiro?"
"Of course, but, what are you going to do, Koda?" She asked.
"T-That's my secret. Now both of you close your eyes and d-don't peek." He said. Once he sees them close their eyes he grabs Shoji's arm. "When I say jump, you jump forward, alright? But keep your eyes covered."
"Tell us what's going on, Koda." Shoji said.
"I-It's not my place to explain. For now you'll have to trust me." He said. He looked at Yuki and nodded his head. "Go ahead, Yuki." Two silver rings appeared on Yuki's ears. She threw one under the door and the other in front of Koda and Shoji. When the portal opened, they both Jumped through, landing beside the ring. When the ring disappeared, Koda told Shoji that he could open his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the room was pitch black, as if it was late at night. The dorm room didn't look like a dorm room at all, but a small child's room. A little boy's room with glass and broken toys everywhere. He looks over to see a tall man with a long black tail and round black ears holding up a little girl with a pair of gray ears and a long gray tail, about the age of four by the collar of her shirt against the wall. A little boy about the age of six with a long black tail and round black ears, watched with tears in his eyes. "Stop it daddy! You're hurting her!" The little boy said.
"This half blood monster needs to be taught a lesson on how the real felines of the kingdom behave." The man said as he threw her to the ground.
"L-Lord Chuck. Please, I beg you. N-No more. I-I'll be good. I promise." The little girl said as she coughed.
"Daddy stop! She was being good! She was just showing me a rhyme that her human friends taught her about the stars!" The little boy said.
"Silence boy! Our Kingdom doesn't need to know those filthy human rhymes!" The man said as he kicked the girl in the stomach.
Shoji tried to attack the man, punching him in the face, but his arm phased through. "What the hell is going on." He asked himself. He looked around but couldn't find Keralynn anywhere.
"Th-This must be a memory from her past. There's nothing we can do b-but to find the real Keralynn and wake her up." Koda said as he looked around nervously. He looks at the little girl with a sad expression as she struggles to stand up. 'This must be the babysitter and his son that she was telling me about while Recovery Girl was healing her. The one that always called her a monster.' He thought to himself.
"Now I know why she thinks of herself as a monster. It's because of this bastard." Shoji said as he balled his hand into a fist. "I don't know what's going on, but no one calls her a monster and gets away with it."
They looked down and noticed the little boy staring right at them, crying. "Please. Save Kera from this nightmare. You're the only one that can wake her up." He begged.
"Her illusions can talk to us?" Shoji said questionably.
"B-But how?!" Koda said surprisingly.
"Very few of us can think and act for ourselves, but it's up to her quirk whether or not we can have physical bodies. Please, you have to help her. Her quirk is out of control, so much so that it can be used without her singing." The little boy cried.
"We'll help her. Do you know where she's sleeping?" Shoji asked.
The little boy pointed towards his bed as they saw the real Keralynn appear, tossing and turning. "I've been hiding her, protecting her from daddy. But I can't protect my Kera from him." He said. Koda ran towards her.
Shoji watched as Koda gently talked to her while holding her hand. He then looked around as the dark room and the tall man started disappearing and the dorm room reappeared. The little boy ran towards the young girl, helping her up. "Thank you both. With your help she has started to calm down. She'll be waking up soon, which means we will be disappearing soon." Said the little boy.
"It was because of Lord Chuck calling us a half bred monster for all these years that we now have depression. But ever since we met all of you, we've been feeling a lot happier. We now have true friends that like us for who we are and not because their parents told them to." Said the little girl as she smiled, missing a tooth or two.
He looks over at Koda as he holds her hand, watching her sleep with a smile on his face. 'He ran to her before I could. It's as if he's……falling in love with her.' He thinks to himself.
"There's no doubt that this will happen again." The little boy said before they started disappearing. "She's waking up now. Thanks again for helping her."
She opens her eyes to see Koda sitting in front of her on the floor as Shoji unlocked and opened the door, allowing Aizawa and Reika into the room. "Are you okay Kera?! I heard what happened from Kaminari." She asked as she hugged her tightly.
"Wh-What happened?" She asked.
"Y-You were having a nightmare and……Y-You were projecting that nightmare with your illusions. O-One of them spoke d-directly to us." Koda said as he tapped his fingers together.
"Back up, Koda. Did you say one of her illusions talked to you directly?" Reika asked. He nervously nodded his head.
"He t-told me that some of her illusions can think and a-act on their own. I-I'm guessing that the man somehow locked the door before assaulting Keralynn as a child. H-He also hid the real Keralynn from the man, only revealing her to us." He explained nervously.
"Illusions that can think and act on their own, almost as if they have minds of their own, much like Dark Shadow." They heard Tokoyami say as he entered the room.
"Could it be possible that her quirk has evolved somehow to the point where it might have become sentient, like me?" Dark Shadow asked as he appeared beside Tokoyami.
"I was afraid this would happen. This is why she will be joining the Hero Course next year." Aizawa said. He turns to Tokoyami. "It is possible that her quirk had somehow gained sentience during the time the video was published online."
"Her quirk is too powerful for her to control." Shoji said.
"Yes but only when she sleeps. When she's awake, she's in control of her quirk. But when she's asleep, then her quirk takes over." Aizawa said. He turns to Keralynn. "Mayson. Do you remember exactly when your illusions started to gain physical bodies of their own?" He asks. She looks away in sadness, nodding her head no before she pulls the covers over her head.
Koda and Reika looked at her figure with saddened eyes. "He was right all along. I am turning into a-." She started to say in a low tone, almost a whisper, beginning to cry before being interrupted.
"NO!" Shoji and Koda said at the same time, making everyone look at them.
"Don't you DARE say that word. Don't ever listen to what that bastard said to you in the past. One man's words do not define who you are." Shoji said.
"Do you know how your illusions started and how they escalated to get so bad?" Aizawa asked.
She sniffled. "I-I remember waking up early, wh-when it was still d-dark. I d-didn't know where I was o-or where anyone had gone. I-I felt scared and a-alone, then I saw my dad, sitting where Koda is now. He told me that I wasn't alone and that some of my friends were still here." She began to explain. Tokoyami's eyes widened.
"Her quirk must have activated on its own somehow." He stated.
"When it sensed her fear and anxiety." Reika finished.
"Tokoyami, Takami. Go find Hound Dog and tell him to meet us in Recovery Girl's office. Tell her to prepare an MRI and a CAT scan." Aizawa said.
"Of course." Tokoyami said.
"But why though?" Dark Shadow asked.
"If my hunch is correct, those scans will explain everything." He said.
A couple hours later, Hound Dog and Recovery Girl finished setting up the scanners. Keralynn looked at it with a nervous expression on her face. She feels Shoji's hand on her shoulder. "Everything'll be alright, Mayson. Nothing to fear." He said.
"We're ready for her." They hear Recovery Girl say. She leads her to the scanner, lays her down on the table, and starts hooking her up to the machine. She gives her a pair of ear plugs to put in her ears. "You may hear some loud noises but that is just the machine doing its job. That is why I am giving you these ear plugs, nothing to fear. Hound Dog, Shoji, Koda, and I will be in the next room." She explains.
"Wh-Why can't they be with me in this room?" She asks nervously.
"The room has to be completely empty of any unwanted distractions." She said. "You see this mirror right here? Should you ever feel scared, you can always look through this mirror and see us, though we will look upside down in your perspective." She explained as she pointed to the mirror just above her eyes.
About ten minutes after they started the scan, she began to feel scared. She looks through the mirror above her head to see Hound Dog, Recovery Girl, and Shoji in the next room. Koda wasn't in the room with them. 'D-Did he leave to feed the animals? Wh-Where did he go?' She thought to herself as her heart began to race. Tears form in her eyes as she sees Hound Dog pointing to something on one of the monitors in the other room.
She feels a warm familiar hand gently grab her right hand, then a smaller warm hand gently grab her left. "It's alright, Kitten. He will return." She hears her father say.
"If you want I can go look for him." She hears a young boy say. She nodded her head yes what little she could.
She hears the machine get softer as it starts to slow down and power down. "Whoops! Looks like we're causing some interference with the scanner." Her father said.
"I think they found us out, Boss!" The young boy said.
"Go find Koda for her. He'll calm her down. In order to continue her scan they'll have to put her to sleep for a bit." He said before he disappeared.
"Aye Aye, Boss!" The young boy said before he ran through the walls to look for Koda.
Shoji runs into the room. "Mayson! Hey, It's okay. You're okay." He says in a low, calming tone as he puts his hands on her shoulders. "Everything's fine."
They hear Koda enter the room. "Keralynn! I'm so sorry, I-I should have told you where I was going before the scan. You w-were right. I was feeding the animals, b-but I was also getting something that might help you calm down." He explained as she jumped into his arms, crying on his shoulder. His arms wrapped around her instinctively.
"I was so scared. I don't want to be here alone" She whispered.
"I-I know it's scary, but this is going to help them figure out why your quirk is s-so out of control. Once we figure that out, then we can help you better c-control it." He explained calmly but nervously.
"As far as we know just from what little they've scanned already, your illusions are somehow connected to your emotional state." Shoji said.
"B-Based on what we witnessed with her illusions this morning, I-I'm not surprised." Koda said in a low tone. He turns to Shoji. "I-It was one of her illusions that came to find me."
"I noticed one of her illusions go through the wall earlier. The little boy." He said as he looked down in thought.
"Y-You mean there was another one with her?" Koda asked.
He nodded his head. "A man, but he was different from the one we saw this morning. This one called her, Kitten." He said.
"That would have been her father." Recovery girl said as she entered the room. "With everything that has happened this past week, I'm not surprised that one of her illusions is the parent that she recently lost."
"Th-The little boy told me that you would have to……p-put her to sleep in order to continue the scan." Koda said.
"Yes, that is true. We can't have her getting overwhelmed again during the scan. It'll take longer when she's asleep, but I'm sure we'll be able to figure out exactly what's going on with her." She explained.
Koda looks down at Keralynn, her ears pulled back as she rocks back and forth a little. He reaches up to gently brush a strand of hair away from her eyes. "Keralynn…Th-There's someone I'd like you to meet." He said as he held up an old looking golden teddy bear wearing a blue and white checkered dress, holding a stuffed pot of honey to her. "This i-is my best friend, Mitsu. She's been with me ever since I was v-very small. She's helped me get through a lot of struggles over the y-years, giving me courage to get into UA for one, b-but she has also helped me with my fears. I think that she'll help you get th-through these scans and you won't be alone, as long as you're holding her." He explained as he placed the bear in her arms.
She looks down at the stuffed bear and hugs it, silently smelling Koda's familiar scent on it. "She smells like you……Thank you, Koda. I'm starting to feel calmer already." She said as she smiled.
He smiles back at her. "I Think she's ready for the sleeping gas now." Shoji said as he stepped back, allowing Recovery Girl to stand beside Koda.
She places the mask over her nose and mouth, making her inhale the sleeping gas. "You don't need to worry, Keralynn. I promise that we will be right beside you when you wake up." Koda said as he smiled. She held up her hand as she formed it into a fist but left the pinky finger out.
"Pinky promise?" She asks tiredly. He smiles and pinky promises her. When she fell fast asleep, he placed her arm around the teddy bear.
"Take care of her, Mitsu." He said in a calm, quiet tone.
A few short hours later, both scans were complete. Hound Dog and Recovery Girl were gathering the results while everyone waited for Keralynn to wake up. Koda and Shoji never left her side since the scans finished. He looked at Koda as he watched her sleep, Yuki sleeping beside her. "You sure have fallen hard for her, haven't you, Koda." He said.
"Wh-Wh-What! N-no. I-I mean it's true that I DO like her, But I wouldn't really say that I'm F-FALLING for her. Wh-What gave you that idea?" He stuttered nervously as his whole face grew as red as a tomato.
"You're not hiding anything from me, Koda. I see the way you look at her every day. It's plainly obvious that you're falling for her. You've been acting braver and speaking out a little more since the day you met her. You even let her borrow Mitsu so that she wouldn't feel scared anymore, and you don't let ANYONE know about her." He explained.
"You, Tokoyami, Jiro, and Reika know about her, but that's because the three of you are my best friends and Jiro is like a big sister to me. Plus it's obvious to us that you like her too, Shoji." Koda said in a saddened tone.
"Yes I do like her, but my feelings for her is a simple crush, nothing more. Do you remember when Tokoyami and Mr. Aizawa introduced Reika to the class? I had a crush on her back then as well, but I saw how much happier he was around her and how much he loves and cares for her. It was plainly obvious to me that he had been falling in love with her for a while. He just always denied that he was, thinking that it was his brotherly instincts kicking back in after so long. He's a little overprotective of her, sure, have you seen how he acted when Mineta used to flirt with her! But that just shows how much he loves her. And I bet that the feelings you have for Mayson are just as deep, if not deeper, than the feelings Tokoyami has for Reika." He explained.
"If his feelings for Mayson were deeper than mine for Reika, then he would already be thinking about spending the rest of his life with her." They heard Tokoyami say. They turn to see him leaning against the door frame. Koda's face turns bright red at his comment.
"Says the one who's already thinking about Marrying Takami." Shoji teased.
"I mean he's already found the perfect dress for her. But he still hasn't told her that he loves her." Dark Shadow said as he came out of Tokoyami.
"I-I'm sure she knows that he loves her. He calls her 'His Dove' and she calls him her 'Lord of Darkness' after all." Koda said shyly.
"Yes but sometimes women want to hear those three simple words from the man they love." Shoji said.
"As if you're an expert on love, Shoji." Dark Shadow teased.
"The point is, Koda, is that we know that you are indeed falling in love with Mayson, just as hard and just as fast as I have with Reika. You just need to realize that sooner rather than later." Tokoyami explained.
"Has she woken up yet?" Reika asked as she and Aizawa entered the room. Aizawa was holding a clipboard.
"Not yet but she should soon." Shoji said.
"Have they figured out why her quirk goes out of control at night?" Koda asked. Aizawa nodded his head.
"I have contacted her mother and the members of her father's band. It's only when she sleeps but the illusional side of her quirk revolves solely around the area in her brain that controls her emotional state. Also, not even her family knew about this but she has a new form of Autism. Apparently due to her upbringing, her quirk has indeed become sentient in the past five years in order to protect her. As of this moment, her quirk has evolved so much in those past five years that it can activate on its own, without warning." He explained.
"Though there are only a few of us permanent Illusions that have the ability to activate on our own, including me, Kera's child form, and our Boss, her first illusions." They hear a familiar young boy's voice. They turn to see the young boy with the long black tail and round black years sitting on the bed, next to a still sleeping Keralynn. "It was due to how my real father treated her over the years that I became sentient. Her quirk couldn't handle being beaten and belittled week after week. The first one of us to become sentient and physical, was her father. He was the one that helped her from being beaten anymore. and helped with putting my real father in prison. But he had already done so much damage to her mental health that it will take years if not decades for her to fully heal. So we sentient illusions decided that from then on, we would protect her from bad people like my real father. We try our best to keep the non sentients from taking over when she sleeps, but the one of my father is one of her more powerful non sentients. He's the one that tries to get out the most when she sleeps. He wants her to relive the years she spent being beaten by him." He explained.
"What can we do to help her so that this illusion of your father doesn't come out again?" Koda asked in a shy but serious tone.
"We aren't sure yet. We're still figuring out why he's so powerful, even though he is not sentient like the three of us." The boy said.
"We'll need to figure out how we can train with her so that she can have better control of her quirk." Reika said as she looked down in thought.
"While you are figuring that out, Recovery Girl and Hound Dog are going to prescribe her with a medicine that should help with her quirk at night." Aizawa said.
"Is there a way for her to get rid of certain illusions that she has made in the past?" Shoji asked.
The boy nodded his head yes. "But she believes that doing that is the same thing as killing someone." He said. He looks towards the sleeping Keralynn. "She's beginning to wake up. She doesn't want to destroy any of her illusions but all of us sentients agree that killing my father is necessary. And in order to do so, she can no longer be afraid of him and she has to make him disappear of his own free will. This is something that will be close to impossible for her to accomplish on her own, but it MUST be done." He explained.
"How many of her illusions are sentient?" Dark Shadow asked.
The boy looked down in thought for a while as he started to count on his fingers. "Her father, me, her child form, her father's band members, her mother, her animal friends. There aren't too many of us but there are hundreds if not thousands of non sentients, my father being the leader of them." He explained.
Keralynn opened her eyes and sat up as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "What's going on?" She asks.
"They figured out why the non sentients go out of control at night." He said as he turned to her.
"It's my emotions isn't it?" She asked in a sad tone.
"Well yes and no. The non sentients rely solely on the part of your brain that controls your emotional state, which is why they go out of control during that time. We try our best to control them so that you can rest, but there are so many of them for us to calm down. Especially him." The boy explained as he balled his hand into a fist, thinking of his father.
"W-We'll do whatever we can t-to make sure he doesn't come out again. W-We'll help her train more. And I'll find a way to help her get rid of your father, once, and for all." Koda said.
The boy looks at him and smiles. "I know you will, you would do anything for her.
"We can't bear to see her suffer like this anymore. I'll help too, Koda." Reika said as she smiled.
"I as well, she or her illusions might have questions about their sentience. Since Dark Shadow is also sentient. I may be of assistance with them." Tokoyami said as he smiled.
Koda looked at them and nodded his head, then turned to Shoji. "What about you, Shoji?" He asked.
"Of course I'll help and so will Jiro." He said as he nodded his head.
For the next three days everyone worked together to train Keralynn with her quirk. She started on the medicine soon after regaining her strength from the scans. As she was walking by to put her glass in the sink, she turned her head to the TV as she saw the news headline. Her eyes widened as she dropped the glass, startling the people around her. The little boy appeared beside her, his eyes also widened. "We have just received reports of a new villain being spotted in town, stealing a purse from an elderly couple with his long black tail. Nineteen year old Axelander Skyies, villain name, Bagheera, was first spotted coming off of a plane from North America. He is 6'1" wearing a black leather jacket over a light blue shirt with the North American flag, black jeans, and combat boots. He has round black ears and a long black spotted tail. If anyone knows anything about his whereabouts, please call the number on your screen below." The reporter explained.
